I originally wrote this in two parts for my sleepover but after I realized how long it accidentally became, I've reformatted it, added/changed a few things, and made into a oneshot!

June 2nd, 1943, 11:43 p.m., James Barnes’ bedroom

“I wanna do it, before I go,” he whispered against your skin. “But I know it’s wrong. It’s too cruel.”

“No, please,” you whimpered, “I want it. I want your mark.”

Bucky pulled back for a moment and you examined your Alpha’s face carefully, knowing it might be the last time for a long time. “I couldn’t bond to you and then leave you. It wouldn’t be fair… you deserve to find somebody who can stay, and be with you, and protect you.”

“All I want is you,” you whispered. “Please, Alpha… bite me.”

You saw him hesitate for a moment before he leaned in and sucked at your neck, building the anticipation before he finally sunk his teeth into your skin and you cried out, one single tear rolling down your cheek. “Mine,” he growled against your skin as he lapped at the healing wound, “my Omega. Forever.”

“Yours, only yours,” you agreed eagerly.

It wasn’t the first time Bucky had taken you, but that night he really and truly claimed you, left you a desperate begging mess, stretched out over his knot as he filled you over and over.

The next morning, you were still sore between your legs as well as on your new mark, and it took everything in you to be strong as you saw him off at the train station, waving goodbye and praying that your Alpha would return to you soon.

November 9th, 1943, 2:24 p.m., undercover SHIELD facility

“You promised Bucky you’d take care of me,” you reminded him with a little smile, wiping a tear from your cheek.

“I know,” Steve relented, “but we both know I can’t do that. Not in this state. But maybe I can protect you if I do this. Maybe I can protect my country. I owe it to everyone, especially Bucky, to try.”

You nodded. “But I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too. Come see me before I ship out for good, alright?”

“Of course,” you agreed.

December 27th, 1943, 8:32 a.m., your front porch

“You’re lying,” you gasped as you shook your head. “You’re wrong, no, it’s not true.”

“It is,” Steve promised as tears welled in his eyes, “I’m so so sorry, I saw it myself, I had to watch him fall…”

“It’s not true! He’s not dead!”

“I know he loved you so much. He talked about every day, he couldn’t wait to come home to you,” Steve remembered, choking up noticeably. “But he won’t. He’s gone.”

“You don’t understand, I know, okay? I know.”

“You’re in shock, I understand, it’s hard to lose your mate—”

“You’re a beta, you wouldn’t understand,” you dismissed; sure, he looked like an alpha now, but it didn’t make a difference. “Omegas, we know when our Alpha dies, we feel it, it kills us. He’s far away, but he’s still there, I still feel him!”

Steve held you as you sobbed, your body crumpling into his arms. Sometimes you thought maybe he held you too tight on accident because he was still getting used to his new strength; other times you thought he did it on purpose.

February 3rd, 1944, 12:00 p.m., undercover SHIELD facility

“Even when I had nothing, I had Steve,” you recalled shakily, “and now he’s gone too.”

“Is that why you’re volunteering?” Agent Carter asked you. “Because you’d rather sleep for a hundred years than live without your mate and your best friend?”

“I’m volunteering because my mate and my best friend died for SHIELD,” you corrected firmly, “and if I’m not willing to also, then I’m admitting I think they went to waste.”

“Steve told me you didn’t think Bucky was dead,” Peggy remembered.

You winced. “I’m not sure. But I know he’s not coming home again. I came here to give whatever I could to help find him… I was asked to participate in a cryogenics research study. If it helps him, then I’ll do it.”

She was about to get up, apparently satisfied with your final interview, but you stopped her.

“On one condition,” you added. “If James Barnes is found, alive or dead, wake me up to see him.”

She nodded, stepping out of the room and leaving you alone again.

May 8th, 2012, SHIELD headquarters

“Can you hear me?”

You slowly blinked awake, your vision taking a moment to catch up with your mind. You saw tubes coming out of your arms; you saw Steve above you, looking like the day you saw him last.

“Did you find Bucky?” you asked instantly. Why else would they wake you up?

“No,” Steve answered, seemingly a bit disappointed that that was your first and only question.

“Then put me back to sleep,” you demanded.

“It’s been 68 years,” he told you. “You’ve slept for 68 years. It’s time to wake up.”

And you did, more than you ever wanted to, because you realized you couldn’t feel him anymore. Your Alpha was gone. Worse, he probably died while you were asleep; he probably died alone.

One more time, like he had 68 years ago, Steve held you while you sobbed.

August 1st, 2014, 2:11 a.m., Avengers compound, Steve Rogers’ quarters

You ran into Steve’s room barefoot and still in your pajamas, barreling through the door and right into his bed.

“Steve, I feel him!” you rushed.

“What?” he groaned sleepily, looking up at you as he blinked in confusion.

“I feel him again, he’s alive,” you explained. “I know it. He’s weak… he’s hurting… but he’s there.”

“That’s impossible,” Steve shook his head. “It’s been too long, he would’ve died of old age anyways.”

“Don’t you want to believe it? Don’t you want to think he’s out there?”

“Do I want to think he’s alone and I didn’t save him?” Steve hissed. “No, I can’t say that I particularly do!”

“But we still can, Steve, we just have to find h—”

But before you could finish, the feeling left you, and you were just half of something again.

“Oh,” you breathed.

“He’s gone again?” Steve realized.

You nodded, biting your lip as it started to quiver. He sighed and pulled you into a hug. “If I could just see his body, and know it was over,” you whispered, “if I could just bury him, have a funeral…”

“We’ll have one,” Steve decided, “after this mission. We’ll put him to rest. He deserves that, and so do you.”

You nodded into his shoulder. It shattered you into a million pieces but it was still the better option, to try to let him go in whatever small way you could. He would always, always, always be your Alpha, nothing could change that, but a funeral would at least bring some closure.

That would have to wait until after your next mission though… and it was going to be a big one: tracking the elusive Winter Soldier.

August 3rd, 2014, 1:14 p.m., Lower East side

You were a few blocks away, helping civilians escape the firefight, when you felt it.

For one impossibly brief moment, you felt him, stronger than you had in nearly 80 years. He was here.

You instantly got up and ran like you’d never run before, finding the Soldier and Steve locked in a brutal showdown— but his mask was gone now, and you nearly fell to your knees at the sight of him.

“Bucky!” you yelped, but you knew he wasn’t there or you would’ve felt his presence. Your Alpha was somewhere underneath the shell that wore his face, and you needed to find him.

You ran forward just as Steve made a break for it, getting to him just in time to stand between the Soldier and his mission.

“Alpha, please,” you whimpered, clutching at his chest. A metal hand backhanded you to the ground.

“Out of my way, Omega,” he growled, stepping over you, but you grabbed at his ankles even when he tried to kick you away.

“My mark,” you explained hastily, pulling your shirt down some to make sure it was visible. “It’s yours. Do you remember? You gave me this. This is your mark on me.”

He stared down at you, seeming to be contemplating it, and you scrambled back to your feet and faced him.

“I still feel you,” you whispered. “I knew you were alive, I knew you’d come back to me. I could feel you, right here,” you explained as you took his hand and placed it on your chest. “Could you feel me? Did you know I was waiting for you all this time?”

His eyes were watering but he still seemed confused— stunned, more specifically, as you placed your hand on his chest.

“I’ll always be yours, Bucky. I’ll always be your Omega, no matter where you are.”

A stun gun took you down, an array of masked men appeared, and before he could really see you for what you were, he was dragged away and taken to be erased again.

August 3rd, 2014, 9:04 p.m., Avengers compound, medical bay

“I can’t believe we let them get away,” Steve lamented, resting his face in his hands. “I can’t believe they took him again…”

“They’ll be back,” you promised sternly. “They’re going to figure out what I am to him. They’re going to realize I could break his programming. And they’re going to come for me.”

“And when they do?” Steve pressed.

“We’ll be ready. And I’ll get my Alpha back.”

August 3rd, 2014, 9:04 p.m., temporary HYDRA operations facility

"The woman on the bridge... the Omega..." Bucky mumbled. "She knew me... she had my mark."

"No she didn't."

He furrowed his brow. "She showed me..."

Pierce sighed, glancing over to the HYDRA scientist who looked back at him sternly.

"She's too dangerous to be left alive," the man sighed, shrugging in his lab coat. "We can't deprogram a bond like that."

"We'll take care of her," Pierce promised.

Bucky launched from the chair, snapping his restraints like paper. "Touch her and I'll fucking kill you!" he bellowed, tackling his handler to the ground.

Pierce just laughed as another scientist jabbed Bucky with a needle, dosing him with something strong enough to kill any other man but just enough to knock out a super soldier. Pierce stood up and dusted himself off as he watched Bucky go limp and be lifted back into his chair.

"I can see the fight in your eyes, Soldier," he taunted as he leaned into his face. "I know you really would kill me, if you could. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, right? But don't worry about your mate, we'll make it quick and painless. Hey, maybe beforehand me and a few of the other Alphas will show her a good time, poor thing's been without her mate for 70 years... I bet she's raring to go."

Bucky's arm twitched as his eyes started to fall shut, a tear falling down his blank and motionless face.

"Wipe him," Pierce instructed to the scientist, turning and walking away as the electric whirr of the machine charging up filled the room.

August 11th, 2014, 3:53 p.m., SHIELD headquarters

Steve was impressed with how accurate and imminent your prediction was; HYDRA was hot on your trail and desperate to eliminate the biggest threat to their Asset. Knowing they were coming made it easier, but it was still a brutal fight.

You and Steve tried to stay together, but they were smart, they used the perfect bait to lure you away.

"Tell me where he is," you demanded from the HYDRA agent as you held a blade to his neck, "then I'll kill you."

"Isn't it supposed to be 'or I'll kill you'?" he frowned.

You shook your head. "Not the way I operate."

Opposite to the reaction you were expecting, he grinned widely. "He's here."

Your heart stopped.

"On the roof. He's here to kill you."

You dropped the knife and ran straight for the stairwell, ascending them like they were nothing and calling out for your Alpha.

You found him there, waiting, gun trained on you. Raising your hands in surrender, you yelled to him again.

"Bucky," you called across the windy roof, eyes nearly blinded by the bright afternoon sun. "Alpha."

"I'm not who you think I am," he yelled back. "I'm not your Alpha."

It hurt to hear it in his voice, but you knew it wasn't him. Cautiously, you stepped closer. "Before you left, you told me you didn't want to mark me and leave me behind," you recalled. "But I wanted it. I wanted to be bonded to you more than I'd ever wanted anything."

He could clearly see you were coming closer, he even tightened his finger over the trigger of his weapon, but he was waiting. You kept walking to him, slowly.

"I've never regretted it," you continued, "not even when I thought you were dead, not even when I had to spent a lifetime-- more than that-- apart from you."

Finally you were face to face, and you stepped closer until his gun was pressed right into your chest.

"You can shoot me now and I still won't regret it," you promised. "I love you."

Shakily, he lowered his weapon. "Omega..." he breathed.

"Your Omega."

He pulled you into him and you sobbed as you felt him come to life in your arms-- the real him, your Alpha, your Bucky. He held you close and breathed against the top of your head and it was like a dream coming true decades after you'd forced yourself to let it go.

But you'd never given up. And now you had found him again.

Agents started to come onto the roof and Bucky spun the two of you around, firing with his right hand and using the left, metal arm as a shield for you.

He carried you and you didn't even know where he was taking you, but it didn't matter. In his arms, you were home.

August 12th, 1:03 a.m., Avengers compound, your quarters

You hadn't stopped coming or crying for at least an hour. Bucky had all but split you open on his knot all night and he didn't show any signs of stopping.

He apparently intended to make up for lost time. And you'd lost a lot of time.

"Just one more, I know you can give me one more," he groaned furiously rubbing your clit as his knot began to swell again.

You could give him anything, as long as he asked for it like that.

You'd lost count of how many times he'd told you to come for him, and how many times you did it immediately.

"I can see how full you are," he whispered as he rubbed your stomach gently. "So much seed in you that your body can't hold it all."

You looked down and yep, you were distinctly bloated from his come alone; it made you a little dizzy to even look at it.

"The idea of you alone during your heats, no one to protect you, it kills me," he explained with a growl. "I won't let you go again. I can't."

"Then don't," you sighed. "Never leave this bed, fill me with everything you have."

"Did anybody ever help you through them? The heats?" he asked. "I wouldn't blame you, they can be so painful... I just need to know so I can make sure you forget about them."

"No, Bucky, never— I never let anyone touch me."

"Steve could've helped you, at least some..."

"He wouldn't have, he loves you too much. And I wouldn't accept anything less than you, ever. You're my Alpha. We're bonded. There's never anyone else."

That didn't seem to satisfy him, his eyes darting away as he swallowed. Your gut sank with the realization he probably wasn't being totally honest about why he asked.

"Your ruts," you gasped. "Were you alone for all of them?"

He shut his lips tighter.

"Bucky, it's okay, just tell me. I was asleep for 70 years, I skipped most of them, but you... you had to live through them all."

"They gave me betas, and omegas," he mumbled, "but I don't... I don't really remember. I know they wanted me to. They threatened to hurt me if I didn't, because they knew I'd go crazy after so many ruts alone, but I can't remember if I really did it. I remember... I remember crying, and begging for you."

"Alpha," you breathed as you felt new tears run over the stains of your old ones. "It's okay. Whatever happened, it's okay now. We're together again. Everything's okay."

You wiped his tear away with your thumb, holding his face tightly, weaving your fingers into his long hair.

"I'll always be your Omega," you promised.

He leaned in closer to you, kissing your cheek before pulling back a little. "It's faded," he whispered as he ran his thumb over the mark on your neck. "The last time I saw it, it was still fresh."

"It's older, sure, but it's stronger than ever, Bucky."

August 14th, 10:12 a.m., Avengers compound, residential area kitchen

Steve's eyes went wide when he came into the kitchen for breakfast and found you there, steeping your tea. "Surprised to see you out of the love nest so soon," he smirked.

"It's been three days, I don't think that counts as soon," you scoffed.

"It does to him," Steve frowned. "He's asleep, isn't he?"

"Yep."

"I know he wouldn't let you out of his sights if he was conscious," Steve chuckled.

At that moment, you heard Bucky call your name and run out into the hall, only a bedsheet covering his groin as he appeared in the doorway. You spun around and smiled when you saw him come running towards you, embracing you with his free arm.

"You should've told me you were leaving, I got scared when I woke up without you," he admitted weakly.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you worry!"

He pulled back and clutched your face in both his hands. "I'm waking up next to you every morning for the rest of my life, you understand?"

You nodded dutifully. "Yes, Alpha."

"One hand on the sheet, please, Buck?" Steve winced, looking away.

“Whoops,” Bucky groaned, reaching to cover himself as you laughed softly.

“Let’s go back to bed, baby,” you decided quietly, taking Bucky’s (free) hand in yours and waving goodbye to Steve, who was already making his way as far out of earshot as possible.

UPDATE 119: Guided Missile

Last time Francis took a power, and gave half of a vial to Noelle. How will the results of this action be like? I suppose I’ll find out in this update! Let’s see...

Noelle screamed, her back arching.

“Well,” Krouse said, as he reached for the tubing that led from the bag of blood to her arm.  He pulled it out, then removed the tape that had held it in place. “That’s bound to get someone’s attention.”

Nothing out of the ordinary so far. From what I recall from when Battery received her power, and from Francis’ own reaction last update, it’s at first a painful and kind of electrifying process. But yeah, screaming like you’re being flayed alive is not what you want to hear a patient do. Someone’s bound to come check what’s going on.

Apparently it’s normal for your heart to stop beating from time to time while you gain powers. Wow. That sounds so dangerous. Once another thing you don’t want to hear happening to your patient, I bet a load of alarm messages are being sent to the nurses’ office right now.

He stood and blocked the door of the room with the chair he’d been sitting on.  Noelle screamed again, a howl, almost ragged.

Had he screamed that much?  Or taken that long?  He felt a twinge of anxiety.

I’m not sure what to think. Hearing someone you love scream in obvious suffering is bound to seem eternal even if it doesn’t last long...or maybe Noelle really is taking too long. Who knows.

During Noelle’s vision, Francis sees it as well. It’s the usual vision about unfathomable beings twirling and approaching Earth, nothing particularly new...I think. Usually the core of the vision is the same, without much variation other than the events themselves. This must be a sign Noelle is receiving her powers right now – the moment Noelle’s life took a turn for the worse. Well, leaving aside everything else that has happened to her this morning.

The vision got Francis distracted enough for a guard to come, bust into the room, and...start attacking and kicking Francis instead of helping the patient in distress. Which, fine, this is a guard and not a medic, but still, where are the doctors? I know the hospital is understaffed but goodness gracious! Francis had good reasons to believe she could die, there’s just no way a serious medical emergency can be solved quickly.

While he’s getting kicked and hit all over, Francis examines the objects to try to find a good one to swap with the guard’s rifle or with the guard, but it’s hard to think while you’re getting kicked in the head, really. All he manages to do when the vision ends is swap the guard and his own position, and that only gets him a second to fight, second he uses to tackle the guard and try to find something to swap with the gun.

Noelle screamed.

This is taking longer than mine did.

Yeah, honestly by now a rather long time has passed. Francis didn’t writhe and scream for so long, neither did Battery from what I remember reading yesterday. The narration has its way of making the moment as long as possible, but somehow this feels like it’s taking longer than usual. A consequence of only having half of the power, perhaps?

He knew if he lost it, he’d probably get shot.  The use of his power had been the only way to avoid being beaten into unconsciousness, but he suspected it also raised the stakes.  Given a chance, the officer would kill him in self defense.

I think he’s right. I said last update I suspected the hero who exploded was killed precisely because he was a parahuman. Francis has revealed he has powers, so if he loses the fight, he’s doomed. He has so many incentives to stay alive. Say, this room must have security cameras or something, right? So they should know something’s happening with Noelle, and if she shows signs of having powers, she’s dead too.

Francis can swap not only things that have a similar shape, he also can swap objects according to mass. He does that to gain access to the gun by swapping it with a blanket, and attacks the guard now that he’s unarmed. Gotta knock him out, anything to prevent him from leaving and getting more help – if none isn’t coming already, that is.

Krouse closed his eyes and slammed his forehead into the lower half of the uniformed man’s face.  He headbutted the guy once more.  Blood welled on his own forehead, where a tooth bit too deep into the skin.

I have never understood why the hell headbutting is a move people do. True, your skull is a rather tough and hard thing, but...it’s your head. Colliding against something that’s most certainly not soft, because often it’s done against an enemy cranium. I sure know I wouldn’t be able to fight any better if I had a throbbing headache from headbutting my opponent. Also, hitting your head sounds like a great way to get your brain rattled. No, thanks, I’d rather not give myself a concussion.

The fight ends once Francis takes the rifle and swings it at the guard’s face, knocking him out after a few blows. He’s alive, I think?

He managed to climb to his feet, blinked slowly as he looked down at the uniformed man. Not a cop, not a soldier, something else.

PRT agent, perhaps? From this area’s PRT?

Oh, the doctors and nurses are there, in the hallway! Running away because they’re afraid of Francis. Since the coast is clear, he returns to Noelle’s side, who is still having visions. This really is taking much longer than it usually takes. Curious, I’d have thought taking half of the serum would make her have like half of the vision, not a vision that’s like...four times as long. With nobody else interfering, Francis is able to stay there by Noelle’s side until she’s done.

There’s some consolation: Noelle is healed. Hm. Maybe it took so long because of the extent of her injuries and because she had to regenerate so much of her guts. How long did it take for Alexandria to have her vision, I wonder? Regardless, Noelle is healed, ready to go, and gets dressed while Francis makes sure the rest of the power concoction is safe.

So! Now it’s time to deal with the current obstacle: escaping a hospital that is already aware there’s a madman doing who knows what to one of their patients. Perhaps this is the moment the extent of Noelle’s powers will be revealed?

“Well, you only got half a dose. If you get any powers, they’re liable to be pretty weak.  Could be that you burned up whatever juice is in that stuff, healing the damage.”

If only. Maybe things wouldn’t have gone as badly if any, any of the other power vials had been in half.

Noelle feels her skin fizzing, what a curious sensation that must be. She doesn’t see any changes, but she feels fizzing. Brings acids to mind, really. Looks like it’s mostly on contact with her clothes, for some reason, touching other stuff around makes nothing happen. Hm...Francis is on his own here, doesn’t seem like Noelle will be able to do anything – voluntarily, that is. If something very powerful and very awful and deadly happens, I’m sure it’ll be accidental.

Outside, people have been gathering to tackle the emergency, and it isn’t just PRT agents. Myrddin – who apparently got a sex change when I wrote about him two updates ago, my bad, Myrddin – is here with six other superheroes. Many would say this is overkill when dealing with a parahuman who barely can use his powers well, having it for...like two hours so far. Perhaps Francis got captured and the rest helped him escape the heroes?

I think in this room you’re the one who knows the most about Myrddin, Francis, and what you know is very little. Welp! Time to learn on the fly, because Myrddin flies, shatters the window, and lands inside the room. Will he recognize Francis from the very brief moment he saw him?

“Stand down,” Myrddin ordered.

“I’ll pass,” Krouse replied.  He looked at the injured P.R.T. soldier, “We’ve got-”

“Begone,” Myrddin said, pointing his staff.

The officer vanished in a cloud of mist.

“-A hostage,” Krouse finished.

Hah! Great job, Francis. Nothing like making clear you won’t let this end peacefully by saying things like ‘We’ve got a hostage’. Also, using ‘we’, implicating Noelle in the process. Honestly I’m pretty sure he singlehandedly made the situation worse for himself and Noelle with one single sentence. Amazing.

Two other heroes flock into the room. How big is this hospital room, holy crap. Where I come from, I can assure you there wouldn’t be enough space for a hospital bed, all the lifesaving equipment, and five people. Well, the people would certainly be able to move and all, but there sure wouldn’t be any space for fighting. It’d be the worst fight ever.

One of the heroes – Anomaly, is her name – uses a ball of something to try to attract Francis, Trying to subdue him. With some quick thinking Francis swaps Noelle with the third heroine, and lets that heroine be trapped in Anomaly’s power. Hah! Noelle almost falls down the window, before that happens Francis swaps her again, this time with Anomaly, and so he just defeated two heroines in a few seconds flat. I’m aware they were fighting a newly discovered parahuman and therefore they didn’t know what he could do, buuuut losing a fight against someone who’s had powers for a couple hours at most doesn’t speak well of these heroes’ skill. I’m sure they’re good at their jobs and what not, but they sure kind of lost pitifully here.

“Who are you?” Myrddin asked.

Krouse glanced out the window.  No.  This might go badly before he had a chance to execute their escape.  If he had to teleport to the back of the crowd, they could wind up in a situation where there was no escape.

“Nobody dangerous.”

Says the guy whose first words to the hero were ‘We’ve got a hostage’. You can’t trust anyone who goes with hostage-taking as the very first measure to try to get an edge over your opponent!

Myrddin’s turn to so something! Francis theorizes about the nature of Myrddin’s power, thinking he has personal dimensions with different rules. One of those dimensions has energy, and with the staff, Myrddin opens it according to the shape drawn with the staff, hitting the opponent with the blast. That actually sounds like a pretty cool power! Great!

Thinking about other dimensions makes Francis ask Myrddin if he can open doors between worlds, and that alarms Myrddin because for a moment he thinks Francis and Noelle are like those monsters the Simurgh brought into the world. The least you’re associated to the Simurgh, the better, so that’s something you don’t want the heroes to think about you. Francis hurries to disguise his interest as idle curiosity.

No more questions to ask, time to leave! Seeing a police car approaching the scene, Francis swaps Noelle and himself with two people in the crowd, and then does it again to be placed inside the car, and he proceeds to drive it as nonchalantly as possible. Flawless escape! He had the advantage of nobody knowing what he could do, that was what tipped the balance on his favor. Now they have to return to the rest of the Travelers.

He reached for Noelle’s gloved hand and squeezed it, but she didn’t smile, didn’t show any relief.  She looked troubled.

He realized why.  Her left hand was undamaged where she’d slashed it on the shattered glass of the window.

Oh, that means she has fast regeneration, right? Maybe that’s what the fizzing was, her body getting prepared for regenerating. Not bad! For her. Because healing fast is going to get in the way of fighting her if necessary, in the present.

Finding the house where the rest of the Travelers are gathered was easy enough, and they go in to find their friends gathered. Cody isn’t among them, because he’s still an outsider to the group. Mars hugs Noelle right away, and Luke says Francis was stupid for all he has done. But at least Noelle is healed, and that’s good. Should help with the morale.

Obviously the rest don’t approve that Francis went and gave powers to someone else, and this time it does get to him because it’s a friend saying it instead of Cody. All Francis can do is try to make excuses for all this, saying it’s the Simurgh’s fault, and while that’s correct, the distinction isn’t as notable as Francis hopes it is.

There’s Cody! And heeeee has powers. Fucking Cody. Of course he demonstrates what he can do, to boast about his newfound abilities.

“I got powers.  The paperwork said it was the ‘Vestige’ can.  And as luck would have it, my power counters yours. Totally and completely.”

Naturally. He got seriously lucky, then! Is this his chance to finally one-up Francis? He sure seems to think it is. Everyone else tells him to stop messing around, while Cody uses his power to punch Francis. Seems like some sort of...time travel? Luke agrees, and Cody explains more. Hah! It’s for the reader’s benefit, really, because otherwise I’m certain he’d love to keep the details of his secret hidden from the guy he loathes.

Cody shrugged, “Directed time travel, anyways.  Backwards only, a few seconds at a time.  You teleport away, I set you back to where you were, then kick you in the balls for being an asshole.”

Hmmmmm...it can have its uses, uses beyond the pettiness Cody is indulging in. It’d be great for second chances, if things went disastrously wrong immediately. Wouldn’t be useful for extended fights or choices. I’m kind of interpreting it as a way, way weaker version of Coil’s power in that Cody gets into a specific timeline, rewinds, and tries something else. Maybe Coil’s power comes from the Vestige kind of power too, just that with a much stronger configuration, the kind that costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

Brushing aside with kind of admirable nonchalance that Cody most likely gave him like two dozens beatings with his power, Francis decides now they need to work on getting out of the quarantine. Easier said than done, really, I’m sure Myrddin is arranging things so everyone’s on the lookout for Francis and Noelle. Good thing the rest of the Travelers are still a mystery for them, that could be the element of surprise they need.

Mars mentions ‘their stuff’, and when Francis asks what she means, Cody rewinds so nobody can answer what he asked, and once again tries to get everyone to ‘stop catering to him’. Oh, shut up. Fucking Cody.

“You’re being as bad as he ever was,” Luke said.

Cody turned towards Luke, “No.  No I’m not.”

“You’re making calls on our behalf.  You’re not being a team player, and you’re making things harder than they have to be to get your way.”

“It’s not the same,” Cody said.

Honestly I think I wouldn’t mind that as much if he was self-aware he’s a jackass. I think that’s why I’m liking Francis much more than him, Francis at the very least makes no attempt to pretend he’s on the right. Cody covers his ears and shouts he has done nothing wrong and that Francis does things worse.

I think this interlude has improved my opinion of Francis somewhat, really. He’s not on my favorite characters list by any means, but at least I tolerate him now. It helps that he’s not being antagonistic towards characters I like a lot – like Skitter, who he clashes with by virtue of Skitter being the main character. Also, following his train of thought and knowing his backstory helps a lot too. Frankly, this whole thing has endeared me more to the Travelers in general! Especially Sundancer. I like Mars.

Since arguing with Cody is a futile endeavor, Francis decides to make an example out of him by throwing him against a bookcase, and doing it again and again and again when Cody keeps rewinding. When Cody uses his power on himself he never remembers what happened, leaving him vulnerable to the same thing happening over and over. Soon he realizes that, and stops rewinding. Hah! Not even with powers he’s able to get an upper hand over Francis, the guy managed to find a weakness in...five minutes. That was good.

He isn’t satisfied with this, though. He asserts to everyone Cody fighting him every once in a while is a problem, and that he’s turning into a liability because he can’t control himself. Oho! Is this what leads to Cody’s absence from the Travelers? Because by now it’s pretty clear he’s not ballistic, and none of the Travelers has his power. Something must have happened to him.

As if crushing Cody’s delusions about how having powers finally got him ahead of Francis, Francis makes pretty clear that if he ever fears for his own safety or feels Cody is actively harming their efforts to return home, he’ll kill him. And he means it. Cody can tell Francis means that. Well then! Guess that answers what happened to Cody before the Travelers arrived to Brockton Bay.

Well at least the arguing is over now. With some luck that’ll be the end of this, buuuut I’m not holding my breath.

What they meant with stuff is that they went to steal everything they may need. It was a necessary evil, given they have zero money. Other than the stuff they stole, they should also try to take as much cash as they can, because they’ll be needing it. Luke still has some degree of consideration towards Francis, they used to be best friends. Sure aren’t in the present, what with Ballistic not being in the best of terms with everyone.

Now that I think about it, the widening distance between the Travelers – in the present, I mean – must be a result of the stress and having to go around with nothing but promises of being able to reach their goal of helping Noelle and go back to their world, because here, at the start of everything, they weren’t as distant with each other. They seem to me like a generally united group, no doubt because they used to be a gaming team. I also think having Francis as a leader must have made that even worse.

So far Noelle hasn’t revealed what power she has, even though she experimented by touching stuff around. Hm. Can’t really guess what power she has...

While Francis was out there healing Noelle, the rest gave some consideration to taking some powers of their own, or at least Luke did.

Luke was nodding a little.

“Luke!” Jess said, aghast.

“What?  Half the damage is already done,” he said, “And as far as I’m concerned, the benefits of getting more powers outweighs the possible danger.  We don’t have any real income, we don’t have anybody to go to for help, and it’s going to be far easier to get funds if we can do something like mercenary work with a team of people with powers.  Like Cody was talking about, we could hire someone to get us home.”

Ah, that’s not a bad idea. I notice Luke didn’t say ‘team of heroes’, he simply said people with powers, meaning he wasn’t refusing to consider working for villains right from the start. You know, they’re rather lucky stumbling upon heroes and villains is rather easy, given they don’t do much of a job staying hidden – when it doesn’t involve their real identities, of course. He also brings up they’ll have to keep Francis and Cody under control, and that’ll be much easier when they have powers.

What gets Jess to be interested in taking a power is that it may be able to heal her legs. You know, it sucks that it didn’t. Why didn’t it heal her legs not even a little bit? I know the serums have only a chance of healing, instead of being guaranteed, but there wasn’t not even some healing, from what I know. Rather unfortunate the one thing that got Jess’ attention ended not happening.

“I am,” he echoed her.  “She set Cody against me, so I had an adversary, putting me off balance.  Then used Noelle’s injury to push me to act.  And you guys?  You, Luke, Marissa and Oliver?  She kept you occupied.  Kept you focused on yourselves.  You want to talk about the Simurgh’s game plan?  It centers around me.  I can’t see any other way of looking at it.  She isn’t aiming to have you guys get mondo powers and kill a president or something.  Why would she make Oliver feel like crap if that was her end goal?”

“It’s you?” Luke asked.

“Doesn’t it make sense?  Just look at where the focus is.  She distracted you guys because you were the ones who could have talked sense into me.  The can of worms is opened, and I’m the person she’s turned into a guided missile.”

Ahahahaha, oh, my, he was so close and got it wrong, and I’m pretty sure that’s because his head consciously refuses to consider the truth. Okay, so, speaking from what I have seen in this arc. I think he may be right about the Simurgh intending to keep everyone else busy with the problems the Simurgh reminded them of. She bombarded them with those memories and thoughts, so they’re unable to make Francis think twice when it’s about everything he has done. All that exposure has made him focus on Noelle so much everyone else wasn’t a priority. Now that Noelle is okay, maybe they’re all on the same standing – until things become ‘help Noelle return to normal’, I suppose. So yeah, helping her was Francis’ entire motivation, so...if the Simurgh intended to keep everyone else busy so Francis would be able to carry out what he pushed him to do, wouldn’t that make Noelle the guided missile, not him? Because if they had been able to calm him down and make him think, then Noelle wouldn’t have gotten powers. Also, she’s the one people dread in the future, not Trickster. Noelle must be the cornerstone of the Simurgh’s plans.

What I’m not sure is how Cody fits in this. He fighting Francis at every turn would get in the way of helping Noelle. That’s the one thing that doesn’t mesh with my interpretation. Unleeeeeeess...maybe Cody really did push things a little too far and got himself murdered by Francis – Cody will be so pissed off about that – and that led to the current fractures in the group, because none of them are comfortable with being under the leadership of a murderer. It’s a plausible possibility, in my opinion.

Jess is in. No word about if Mars and Oliver are interested, but I suppose they won’t back down now that everyone else has powers. If it wasn’t because there was half a vial left, I’d even think Oliver wouldn’t take any. Oh well. They’re deciding who takes what.

“I’ll take half,” Oliver said.

All eyes turned to him.  Oliver continued, “If Noelle doesn’t want to finish it, I’ll take half.  I’m not strong, I’m not brave, or smart, or creative.  I don’t have it in me to be a hero.  So as long as you don’t ask me to risk my life fighting stuff like the Simurgh, I’ll take the half, try to find other ways to help.”

If Oliver isn’t really that interested in powers and won’t even give use to them, they really, really should give Noelle the other half. From what I have heard, he can’t do much in the present, so his half of the vial didn’t really change him in any significant manner, taking him around wouldn’t have been any different if he had been powerless.

Goddamnit they won’t. But at least Francis said a kind word to Oliver for once.

“Okay,” Krouse said.  “Anyone want to call dibs on the others?”

“Robin,” Luke said.  “Sounds like it might mean I could fly.”

Hah! That sucks. He’s going to be so disappointed he can’t fly, since it seems like that was why he picked that specific vial. I mean, maybe he could stand on something large enough and then propel it through the air, but that sounds so dangerous and unlikely to work it’s not worth it. Why was Ballistic’s power under ‘Robin’, I wonder.

“Mars?” Jess asked.  “You care?”

Marissa shook her head.

“Then Deus for me.”

I should have known the Deus vial was Genesis’, now that I think about it. The name is a pretty big indication of what she can do.

Everyone will take a vial one at a time, so they all have time to writhe and scream and have their visions, and they’ll leave before sunrise. And so, the Travelers were born. Change of scene!

I’m kind of disappointed there’s no scene of them escaping the quarantine. I knew it was guaranteed they would escape, but it can’t have been too easy, can it? Not when the heroes knew there was one, possibly two rogue Simurgh parahuman thralls on the fly. But no, the next scene opens with them already on the road, driving their stolen cars. Things seem to be generally okay right now, no word on where they’re going first to start their mercenary work and look for someone who can get them home.

They had their powers, and there was a slight cast of disappointment for everyone involved.

No kidding, I imagine Jess was disappointed she wasn’t healed at all. Luke is also disappointed he can’t fly, and Mars hasn’t realized yet the extent of her powers, but given how much she dislikes hurting people with it, I bet she’ll be disappointed too. Hm. Maybe things would have been a little better if Luke had gotten the Deus vial, since it’s versatile and would have given some flight even if it was with a creation. Jess may have done well with any of the others. Mars...uh...well if she dislikes destructive powers then she wouldn’t have been happy with either. Sorry, Mars.

There’s Francis, thinking everything is okay and not about to take a turn for the worse in...hm. How long did it take before they realized something was wrong with Noelle, I wonder? If it was so bad they needed to keep moving and lock Noelle in a vault, then it’s not something that can go unnoticed for long. The other shoe must be about to drop.

The Travelers stop at a highway stop, and they go inside to the facilities. Aaaand there it is. Disaster strikes, Mars comes out a little later, frightened, from the women’s bathroom. Everyone else is inside except Cody, who keeps getting isolated from everything, and Francis gets in, finding Noelle on the floor.

There’s something on Noelle’s leg, a pretty big burn-like thing. My first thought had been that Mars had accidentally burned her, but then I recalled Noelle supposedly had fast regeneration, so that shouldn’t have mattered. Then comes the reveal.

Beneath the angry red skin on Noelle’s thigh, there was an eyeball, twice the normal size, with a broad yellow iris.  Noelle’s hands were clenched into fists, gripping the cloth of her jeans as the eye’s gaze darted from one member of their group to another.  It settled on Krouse.

Accusatory.

I’m not sure what exactly is going on besides the obvious ‘she’s growing an eye on her leg and that’s not okay’, which is already pretty bad for Noelle. This is obviously a byproduct of her power, and given her terrified reaction, I suppose it’s not something she wanted. What is her power? It can’t be just growing body parts, because that’s not destructive enough to warrant all the danger in the present. Something’s off here.

That’s the end of the chapter. Whatever’s going on will have to be for next time. No way this is the last chapter for this arc.

week 5 and 6

I meant to post some of this last week but I was in shock because of my top surgery date so here have a two week double feature!

-my boyfriend actually did surprisingly well with my shot! we are not quite sure if we matched the right position that my doctor told us, but luckily there are lots of spots to do it

-bottom growth almost definitely. like, not a lot, but a noticeable amount

-also (tmi: sex) some problems climaxing, but could easily be my own mental block/mood at the time

-vocal fatigue and acne still. People are starting to mention my voice but I am writing it off as allergy season

-Foot hair? uhhh

-Came out to my mom

-accidentally gave myself a lower dose so uhh this week I’m even lower dose t but it’s fine

Save me, Salem

Went to the docs a few months ago with pain in the front of my neck and under my chin. They couldn't find anything. Went back over the next few months a few times and a doc said to try the dentist. Hadn't thought of it since the pain wasn't in my teeth. Did as she said and the dentist found a huge deep rooted infection in my lower front teeth and jaw. Same thing happened twenty years ago, and I had root canal in my front tooth to get rid of the infection and save the tooth which worked. Five years ago the infection came back but my dentist left it alone as he said I'd fight it off myself. I did not. Infection has lingered and gotten worse and worse so new dentist said root canal was needed in the tooth right next to the original one from twenty years ago as the infection is between the two teeth underneath them. He did a great job of a root canal last Wednesday and I felt fine. Went to work on Thursday as usual, and pain got worse throughout the day. I also had the good sense to call my GP for antibiotics and they gave me metronidozole, the mother of all fuckers, because I have a congenital heart defect and am badly immunosuppressed. By Thursday night it was agony, and I didn't sleep at all. Back at the dentist on Friday morning, he confirmed the infection had flared badly and gave additional antibiotics, this time amoxycillin. By Friday morning I also started to vomit uncontrollably as a reaction to metronidozole but I couldn't stop taking it because the infection needs its ass well and truly kicking, and metronidozole is the way to do it. Trouble was, I couldn't even keep water down so hydration was becoming a serious problem. Pain management was as well, in that there was none, so I went to A&E at midnight on Friday. As usual, the NHS was completely amazing, and I was triaged, assessed, assessed again by a specialist dentist, xrayed, and then had a consult with the specialist dentist in two hours flat. Sent home with instructions on going to the emergency dental hospital and better pain management, but Friday night was still agony, and I whacked myself with codine to try to knock myself out for a bit. It worked, but codine works against my bowel and colitis (as does metronidozole and amoxycillin), and just to make sure I'd completely fuck myself, I added ibuprofen into the mix which does the same trick on my insides. All those meds have clear DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU HAVE COLITIS warnings on the leaflet instructions. As a result of this concoction my bowel completely stopped working. However, the reaction to that when you stop codine can be severe diarrhea that can trigger a flare up. I’m now in the ‘severe diarrhea‘ phase, and hoping to Thor that flare up isn’t imminent.     Vomiting continued throughout Saturday, and by Sunday I was considering going back to hospital for fluids. Pee was so dark it looked like blood. (It wasn't though.) I was so disorientated and confused, I misread or misunderstood what meds I'd taken that I'd been listing and accidentally overdosed on paracetamol and codine. Thankfully after speaking to a nurse, I'd only overdosed rather than taken in a toxic dose, so I just had to keep an eye on myself and not fall asleep because coma and shit. By Monday, things had really started to settle down a bit, but there was still a lot of pain. It's much the same today, but the problem is that the infection is still lingering. GP has given another week of amoxycillin and ordered a week off work. (I was legit going to go in last Friday morning, complete with vomiting and agony...) Sooo that's the story of how I came to watch 'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' and fall in love with Salem all over again <3

AU Thursday: Londerland Bloodlines -- With This Blood. . .

Happy Independence Day! Let's have a fic from the Londerland Bloodlines world about Alice giving Victor another drink from her veins and thus binding him to her all the more! XD More seriously, after last week's chat with Mercurio -- well, Alice still doesn't particularly like the blood bond, but she likes the idea of losing Victor, even to old age, a lot less. (Plus, Mercurio brought up a good point that Victor is "hot property" among vampires as a ghoul -- I'd still like to fit in something earlier about both the Giovanni and LaCroix wanting him as a personal slave to add to their own power. And maybe the Anarchs wanting to beat the shit out of him because of who his father is.) So she heads home, ready to make a commitment -- though, of course, not without talking to Victor first. . .

"Alice!" Victor grinned at her, trying and failing to conceal his puzzlement. "I didn't expect you back so soon. . .is everything all right?"

"Yes," Alice assured him, kissing his cheek. "Better than it has been for a while, in fact." She slipped past him to plop herself on the couch, patting the cushion beside her. "Do you have a moment to talk?"

"Er – of course," Victor said, sinking down beside her. "What about?"

"Us. And our relationship."

"Oh." Victor worried his lower lip. "Are – a-are you asking to be e-exclusive? Because I. . .w-we should probably wait for Victoria and Emily if that's the c-case–"

"Oh, no, no," Alice assured him, holding up a hand. "I am perfectly happy with the set-up we have right now. Victoria and Emily are wonderful women, and I am delighted to be able to share you with them."

Victor visibly brightened, sitting up a little straighter. "Oh, good. N-not that I don't love being with you, of course, I just – I love being with them too. With all of you together. You're all so amazing, and I'm–" He sighed, one of those sweet, dreamy smiles passing across his face. "I'm just so lucky."

"So am I." Alice twisted her fingers together in her lap. "Which is why. . .I want to keep you, Victor."

Victor's brow furrowed. "Keep me?"

"Yes. Keep you with me. Forever."

Victor's eyebrows nearly disappeared into his hair – though, given how little forehead he had, that was a fairly easy feat. "What – you – w-wait, I don't understand. You – you d-don't even want to blood bond me. S-suddenly you want to Embrace me?" His face filled with suspicion. "Did one of those other vampires do something to your head?"

"No!" Alice cried, waving her hands. Oh damn it, she should have known this would happen, given what she'd been like their entire time together. "Victor, I swear, this is all me. And I'm not talking about the Embrace. I would never drag you into the eternal night. You deserve better than that."

Victor stared hard at her – then his face softened. "My friend's saying you're telling the truth," he said, tapping his temple. "And I've learned to trust him. . .but – the only other way of k-keeping me is the blood bond. And you said – why would you change your mind?"

"Because I went to Mercurio tonight," Alice explained, leaning forward to take his hands. "To ask him his opinion on being a long-time bonded ghoul. And he said that, after years of service, he would do anything to make LaCroix happy. But he also still considers him – in his own words – a 'prissy bitch.'"

Victor snorted. "Really? LaCroix's best ghoul said that?"

"Yup – which should tell you everything you need to know about LaCroix, frankly." Alice smirked briefly, then turned serious again. "But that was his point – even through a loyalty written into his very veins, he can hold an unflattering opinion of his master. Which means his mind, his soul, isn't completely gone. He was clear that he was still not truly his own man, but . . .he's not a toy either. Or, at least, he's less of one than I thought."

Victor nodded slowly, a terrible growing hope on his face. "So – what does that mean for – us?"

"It means – I might be willing. To make you mine." She took his chin, looking deep into those dark brown eyes. "But I won't let you walk into this blind, Victor. Everything I said before still applies. The blood bond is not true love – it's slavery. If you drink twice more – you are going to be devoted beyond mortal reasoning. You will do anything to please me, even things you would otherwise find distasteful. Even if things go wrong between us, you will still be magically bound to me. Still want my blood more than anything else in the world. There will be no way to break free except by mustering up the willpower to flee into the night and never see me again, or by my Final Death. I'm only willing to risk this because–" She swallowed on outdated instinct. "Because I love you. And I can't bear the thought of you dying, even of old age. Or being used up by some other vampire. And I believe you love me beyond that taste you got of my vitae. I believe we can somehow make this work, around that twisted horrible core. But – you have to know the risks. You have to be sure."

Victor was silent for a long moment. Then he reached out and cupped her cheek. "I'm sure," he whispered. "I – I know it's not – ideal, w-what we have to do to be together. But I don't want to leave you. I love you. I love when you come out of your bedroom in the evenings and give me that little smile, so – genuinely happy to see me. I love when we're sitting on the couch together during a quiet moment, your hand in mine, even if it's cold. I love going out to the movies with you and – well, I don't get to have all the popcorn to myself anymore, do I?" he corrected himself with a laugh. "But it's still so much fun, going out with you and Victoria and Emily and Lizzie and Sam and just – enjoying a night out. Like we're all normal." He took a deep breath. "And – and I don't want to belong to just any old vampire either. I've talked with Mercurio too – and Knox, and Romero. I know how most vampires treat their ghouls. You have been nothing but kind to me ever since we met, and – I want to be with you. As long as you'll have me. I trust you."

That was what did it, Alice decided later on. The fact that Victor knew what she did sometimes to survive as a Kindred, knew how dangerous it was to be a ghoul – and still trusted her. Still loved her, glowing so brightly with sanguine energy for a moment she was sure she'd accidentally popped on Auspex. Deep down, she knew the "right" thing was to push him away, let him go. . .but she also knew she simply couldn't force herself to do it. He was already hers, in a small but significant way – and judging by the way her withered guts cried out at the thought of him leaving? She was his. And if she couldn't save him from Kindred society altogether. . .she could at least save him from other Kindred. "All right."

The Vorpal Blade was in her hand in a moment, hissing with delight as she drew it from its sheath. One quick slash, and her wrist was laid open. Victor's eyes locked onto the blood, oozing from the wound. She offered it to him, and he grabbed it firmly in both hands, licking his lips in anticipation –

Then, an inch from drinking, he paused. His eyes flicked back up to her face. "You're – y-you're really sure?" he asked, voice aching with longing – but also worry.

"He'll refuse if you refuse," Cheshire informed her, smile hanging by her side. "Rescind your permission and he'll pull himself away. Addiction is a strong vice, but his desire not to harm your feelings is stronger still. He'd give up eternity if he thought you would drown in the guilt."

I probably will, Alice thought back. But I'd drown too if I refused and tomorrow night LaCroix dragged him to his tower, or some gang-banger shot him down. At least this way he can throw me a life preserver. She nodded, with a bittersweet turn of her lips. "Go ahead."

Victor needed no further coaxing – he pressed his lips to the cut, sucking down the vitae with the same desperate eagerness she'd seen in the clinic. Alice allowed him a couple minutes to get his fill, then gave her arm a gentle tug. "That said, I can't really let you drink me dry. . ."

Victor lifted his head, breathing hard. His face was utterly transported, almost like he'd just finished making love to her instead of feeding on her vital fluids. He licked the red stain from his mouth with his eyes closed, shuddering. "Sorry," he breathed, not sounding it at all. "Just – oh, Alice. Drinking from you. . .it's like. . .like a big, warm hug." He wrapped his arms around himself, rocking gently back and forth. "Your love for me is right in my veins, and it's wonderful."

"That, I think, is the blood bond talking," Alice commented, pressing on her wrist. The cut sealed over, flesh carefully knitting itself back together. "Or possibly a dose of Malkavian madness. I've heard we can be flowery."

3. Why Hansa?

I believe in divine intervention, karma, the universe giving you what you need at the right time etc. So I’d done over a year on antibiotic (abx) therapy, and seen maybe a 5% improvement (and by that I mean, I went from being unable to sit up for longer than 10 minutes at a time, to maybe on a REALLY good day I could sit up for just 20 minutes and not end up with seriously exacerbated symptoms). Abx is your mainstream treatment for Lyme. But let me make this clear, if you’re past stage one (longer than 6 months), your chances of this method of treatment actually working long-term and eradicating the Lyme are slim to none. No medical journal or LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor) or the CDC or any other organisation will admit this though. For patients who have felt better on this treatment, they often relapse once they stop or their symptoms return. So they haven’t fixed the problem and taking abx long-term is very damaging to the body. 

At the time we didn’t know any better and my Dr. as brilliant as he is, is not a lyme literate doctor, so he was learning too. There was a Dr in my city who was treating Lyme with IV antibiotics and I could have potentially got a PICC line put in. I told my Dr I would go and see him instead. He begged me not to go. He said “you are so so ill and complex, he will not understand this and it will make you worse, please don’t see him.” I’m so glad I listened to his advice. When I did oral abx with my CFS Dr, he was shocked that I couldn’t even cope with minute doses compounded especially for me. If the lowest dose of something like Doxycycline is 200mg, I would have it compounded to 25mg and I would take 1/2-1 tablet (depending in if I could cut it) every 3-4 days. When you start abx for lyme you are looking at 400mg once a day as a MINIMUM and then you steadily increase to 1000+mg per day. You then add in other abx so you’re taking a cocktail. 

You then get what’s called a herxheimer reaction. We call it herxing. This is where the bacteria that are dying, release toxins into the bloodstream at a rate too high for the body to cope and try to flush them out. So we experience exacerbated symptoms, feeling FAR FAR worse (I cannot stress enough how beyond torturous herxing is when you are already so sick). Herxing can also cause death if the die off is too great, so it is dangerous. My herxing was a living hell. Where the lyme is in your body is where you will feel it most. I have so much Lyme in my brain that I was more often than not severely depressed and suicidal, I had no control over my thoughts and my reality was often distorted. I had severe Lyme rage (it’s a real thing) and if I was a physically violent person, there would have been many holes in the walls, smashed furniture, broken mirrors, smashed phones and I probably would have hurt myself in the process. Rage at that level is all consuming and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. The soles of my feet burned so bad I couldn’t walk on them, my bones felt like they were constantly being drilled into or sawn off, I developed tremors like I had parkinson’s, vocal ticks where I would make random uncontrollable noises, I constantly felt like I was suffocating and unable to breathe, my nausea never went away, pounding headaches for days, night terrors so real I was terrified to try and fall asleep, but insomnia helped with that, night sweats where I would wake up soaked in sweat and freezing cold, my body feeling so hot like I’m living in an oven, whilst my feet are purple and stone cold and so much more. Remember I put up with this for over a year so far (2 years total). But I pushed through it, because I’ll do anything to get better. 

However it wasn’t working. At the rate I was able to cope with increasing my dose (because my herxing was so severe), it was going to take me 10 years to reach even a “normal” dose of abx and I wasn’t getting better. That’s when fate stepped in. My mum’s work colleague’s husband, worked with a man who treated himself for Lyme Disease and was now an Osteopath. Someone who CURED themselves of Lyme, holy shit!!!! I had to talk to this guy. He ended up calling me one night free of charge to give me advice. I remember being so ill I wasn’t well enough to hold the phone, comprehend what he was saying and physically speak, but I had to push myself because I wouldn’t get this opportunity again. He gave me the most incredible advice that made so much sense, I don’t remember all of it, but it was like a lightbulb moment and he had given me hope. His approach was different to anything I’d come across (because I’d done everything mainstream from the medical world). 

He’s an osteo, a holistic doctor, so their approach to healing the body is not to just pop man-made pills to “fix” the problem. It’s about healing the body so that the body can fight for itself. It’s not about the diagnosis either, it’s about working out what went wrong in the first place to allow the disease to thrive and working to fix that. The disease is the symptom, not the cause. The advice I remember over the phone was: to never use a microwave ever again. A microwave changes the molecules in food so your body no longer recognises it as food. I now heat everything up on the stove. To turn my WIFI off at night. EMF’s (electromagnetic fields) feed Lyme bacteria, it aggravates them and Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt (a highly regarded Lyme Dr in Germany) has studies to prove this. I sleep far better with the WIFI turned off and mine and my partner’s phone MUST be on airplane mode before we sleep, or they’re not allowed to stay in the room. If your mobile is in your room when you sleep and not switched off or on airplane mode, it must be at least 5metres from your bed. I don’t have an alarm clock next to my bed anymore as that’s more unnecessary EMF’s. My parents even sleep better with the WIFI off, if they accidentally leave it one, they have a terrible night’s sleep and they’re not even sick. I also have orgonites, salt lamps and selenite towers around my house to help absorb EMF’s. He also said I must drink bone broth every day to repair my gut. 90% of your immune system lies in your gut. I already knew I had IBS, leaky gut syndrome, gut dysbiosis, multiple food intolerances and more, so repairing that damage made sense. 

I started seeing him for a treatment called bioresonance. I’m not good at explaining this treatment. But basically everything has a frequency and say a healthy human has a frequency of 103. When your body is in dis-ease, it will have a frequency far lower. Bioresonance resets your frequency to what it should be. As the Lyme has written itself in my DNA, it’s in all my cells and has programmed itself into my bodies way of functioning, it would be in my bodies frequency. I know this sounds like airy-fairy crap but honestly if you disagree I couldn’t care less. It’s the ONLY treatment that I dramatically improved with and I have at least a dozen friends who have had the same experience.

You lie on a bed and get hooked up to this machine and you just lie there for 45-60 minutes. My new Dr commented on how sick I was. He would massage my organs whilst I was hooked up to the machine and he would say my stomach was like cement. My organs were struggling to badly, the massaging would leave me in tears from the pain. Bioresonance would also make me incredibly ill afterwards. It’s what I imagined chemo to be like. I would go home so toxic, nauseaous, my head pounding and beyond exhausted. But these were a different kind of symptoms to what I had experienced with Lyme, I can’t even describe it properly, I just felt so so ill. I would go to bed and sleep for 3 hours, wake up still feeling like death, eat very simple foods, take zofran wafers and panadeine forte and just be a vegetable on the couch. It would take me days to over a week to recover from this treatment. But every time my body finally recovered, I was actually better than before. It was working. After my 3rd session I drove for the first time in 2 years. I didn’t have the cognitive ability, energy or strength to do this previously. I drove 5 minutes down the road and WALKED around our local shopping centre on my own for an entire hour. I wasn’t even able to walk from the car to the door previously, if I ever went down the shops it was in a wheelchair and even sitting up for that long was incredibly difficult. 2 months into this treatment and I was able to drive myself 20 minutes to a friends house, spend time with them for a few hours and drive home. My health continued to improve with every session and eventually the treatment didn’t make me that sick anymore. 

He also weaned me off my abx as they were proving of no benefit to my body. I found out about essential oils. Did my own research and started using them. Shortly after signing up to a company, my Dr. told me he had heard good things about oils too and joined the same company. I can’t say much about essential oils as legally they have this red tape where they cannot promote any sort of healing. This is why mainstream medicine LOOKS like the best option, because holistic and natural options are not allowed to promote any kind of healing or benefits they provide. I will say they are phenomenal and I couldn’t recommend them enough, they are the second biggest contributor to helping me on this journey. 

I changed my diet to eating organic, drinking bone broth and having fresh cold-pressed juice daily. Cutting out all my food intolerance foods and eliminating refined sugar also helped significantly. My Dr. also makes his own fermented probiotic which I would have a shot of every morning. It tastes disgusting. Doing all of this to help repair my gut made a huge difference. When I eat something I shouldn’t I feel far worse and when I eat sugar it affects my brain and I become very moody and angry. Caffeine makes my adrenals crash so I drink decaf as a treat sometimes. If you can’t afford an entirely organic diet, you get organic meat before fruit and veg. Saving for my treatment I haven’t been able to afford organic food for over 9 months now and I’m really looking forward to being able to buy it again. 

My Dr. informed me of how stress is toxic to my body. Stress emits chemicals in the body that weakens us, and for a chronically ill person, we simply cannot handle this change in bad chemistry. So I’ve learnt to cut people out of my life, set firmer boundaries and avoid drama as much as possible, because it is simply not worth my health. It’s no one’s responsibility but yours to understand this either. I have broken up with partners, ended friendships and even cut off extended family members because of their behaviour, treatment of me or choices. They need no explanation from me either, because more often than not they won’t “get it” and it’s very hard to change people. Moreover, as I’m an empath, I absorb other people’s emotions and stress. I’m a great target for people dumping their problems on me. Don’t get me wrong, I care about people and want to help, but I had a few relationships that were one-sided, where the person would vent or dump their problems on me, talk about themselves and that’s where the conversation would cease. To me that’s not OK. I was honest with these people and either asked for space or set new boundaries for our relationship. Many chronically ill people are empathic, so knowing this is important. 

1 year of bioresonance and I was heading towards 70% health. Life was looking great. But I had a few stressors in my life, a few relapses in health and I seemed to settle around 50% health. Some days I might only be at 20% and other days I might be lucky to hit 70%. So at this point you would call me a “high functioning Lymie.” I’m still quite sick, but I no longer look sick. I can’t work or study, but I can complete basic tasks for myself most days. I can maybe leave my house once or twice a week for a social catch-up or to run some errands, but I will feel worse the next day and have to spend it lying on the couch. Majority of my energy goes towards simply caring for myself, showering, preparing food, cooking, house work, grocery shopping, sorting out medications, completing errands and then on a good day I might have a little energy spare to go out for a few hours, play the piano for 30 minutes, walk my dogs for 15 minutes or chat to a friend on the phone. 

Some days I can’t even get dressed, have a shower or speak (which sucks because I LOVE to talk). My health is incredibly unreliable and inconsistent. This is what frustrates me. I just can’t get above 50% health. I’ve had seriously scary relapses in the last few years too, where I’ve spent weeks bedridden, unable to care for myself and thinking “is this it? Is this where I go downhill and don’t get better?” I’m terrified of that. I can’t travel, contribute to society in all the ways I so deeply desire, have children, exercise or do anything relatively “normal” without it causing significant payback. I have to calculate how much energy every activity would cost me and I often have to for-go important gatherings or events because I’m not well enough. If I have 2 friends’ celebrating their birthdays on the same weekend, one on a Friday night and one on a Saturday night, I have to pick one. I couldn’t do both. And even then, I don’t know until the last minute if I can actually attend. Often I pick my event and then can’t even go to that. If friend’s and family want to make plans ahead of time, this makes me incredibly anxious, because I worry my health won’t be good enough and I’ll have to cancel last minute. This creates a lot of stress and guilt. I’m very grateful for the people in my life that tell me it’s OK if I cancel last minute, but I still feel guilty and disappointed to miss out on spending time with them. It’s not a CHOICE for us to isolate ourselves and be stuck in our beds or couches alone, feeling like crap. 

Even the other night I wanted to go out for dinner with my parter, but I woke up so sick and had a terrible day. I rested, ate healthy food and put oils on that usually help my symptoms of fatigue and nausea. But I felt no better. I was stressed and trying to “find” the energy to go out. I changed my clothes, decided against trying to put makeup on and just tied my hair up. Walked into the lounge room and just felt 10x worse from those activities. It was a battle in my mind for 10 minutes on deciding whether to push through or admit to my partner I wasn’t well enough. He’s very flexible and supportive so he was fine to stay home, but I felt so disappointed and annoyed at my body for not being able to cope. All I needed it to be ok with was driving 20 minutes down the road, sitting in a restaurant for 90 minutes and driving home. I just wanted a nice meal with my partner, holding hands, looking at each other, talking, and I couldn’t do that. This kind of disappointment is something I deal with often. 

So 1 year ago I decided that this inconsistency was just doing my head in. I’m fed up. I want a life. I remember at 5% health I begged the universe (or god, whatever your beliefs are) to get me to just 50% health, so that I could function a little and have some sort of a “life” and I would be so grateful. I got there. But this is not living, I still feel like I’m merely existing, with a little bit of joy or distraction from time to time. That’s when I started to look into more “extreme” treatment options. Australia and what is has to offer is not working for me. I will never get better if I keep trialling the limiting options is has to offer for a disease it deems does not exist and it therefore cannot comprehend the complexities of.

Not sure if my fathers age has anything to do with rates, but he is 65 years old and pays $600 for six months (for one of his two cars) a 2003 Toyota Corolla with over 100,000 miles on it. I took out an insurance policy with swinton Insurance they quoted me 250.00 I agreed to this amount. I have been driving for over 12 years with no claim made against my policy. Ok we've got a small problem. At present we get a car from motability, but we want to switch to owning our own car, but we have a major problem with this new all cars must be insured at all times or declared SORN scheme. The problem we have is that our motability car goes back in October. We're in a rural location so we need a car ready for when the switch over happens. At present with the motability insurance their insurance only insures one vehicle, the motability one, and can't have additional vehicles added to it. We've got a few quotes from insurance companies who have told us that when the motability lease expires they will give us the no claim discount based on the motabiity insurance, but they wont give us that discount until the motability car goes back. So what we want to do is get the new car before October, put it on the drive, check everything is ok with it, and then insure it when we start using it on the road when the motability vehicle goes back. Only problem is with this new law we can't do that without declaring the vehicle SORN. Some of the vehicles we've seen come with a few months road tax, so we don't really want to lose that by declaring it SORN, just for a few weeks (or is the tax disc still valid when you remove the SORN on the car?), we also don't want to insure the vehicle before the motability vehicle goes back as we wont get any NCB from the new insurer and that will cost us about an extra 500 in insurance (our current insurance price is about 500-600 but with 0 years no claims it goes up to around 1,000-1,100 - we have 3 years no claims with motability and I've held my driving licence for 6 years). I've read that you don't need this compulsory insurance if the vehicle is in trade, or between registered owners. That is one option, but how long after you buy a vehicle can you keep it in that status, would we be able to keep it like that for a few weeks or is it pretty much instant when we get the car. Obviously I realise I would need some kind of temporary one day insurance to drive the vehicle home after purchase.""

I was planning to keep driving it for years to come. This presents a big problem for me as, if I cannot have my car fixed and restored to the same condition as before the crash, I would have to come up with at least $12K to $15K to buy another new safe, reliable economy car. Also, the insurance company is pushing me to make a hasty decision and is threatening me with not paying for the car rental I needed to get (since my car cannot be driven as the tail light is broken and and rain would get in the car). I'm nearly seventeen, and I don't even have a permit :X, I was never able to find my proper documentation (no, I'm not illegal, I just HATE going through beurocracy). I live in Iowa, and I have to wait six months before I can get my license. But it'll be a limited license, and in order to get it I have to take three months of driver's ed. and do twenty hours of independent driving. So if I got it in March, the earliest I could drive would be September. But I won't have a car, and I don't need a car; and I don't have the money for a car. So I figured I'd wait until I was eighteen, which would be in May of 2011, because I wouldn't need any needless requirements, and I wouldn't have to take driver's ed. But my question is; how much more would car insurance be if I didn't take driver's ed, and just went for my full license when I was eighteen?""
