I’m breaking my No Tumblr For Lent rule because I really have to share -
I’m 65 pages into Mansfield Park and I can’t stand Edmund. He’s objectively a Good Person (which I can already tell is going to be a rarity in this narrative), but god is he insufferable.
The Crawfords are flakes, but at least they’re entertaining flakes so far.
Austen is always scathingly snarky but this is the first time I think she comes off a bit self-righteous??

Also I was playing that event game in h.onkai sr earlier today and there was this question mark thing with Sunday in which you look at books in that library and then you hear a soft whisper and it's him and he asks if he shall explain the books to you ... Of course I said yes.
Ngl that would be a good beginning for a romance story I DIDN'T SAY THAT

the problem with building out america's rail network btw is that it's privatized and there will never be a corporate incentive strong enough or backed enough to implement effective, accessible, AND privatized countrywide travel. nationalize railways deliver on the demands of railway workers and most importantly respect indigenous sovereignty/include indigenous design input when plotting routes

Coming off Tim's Sixteenth birthday arc is so funny to me like-
Robin 120: Batman is a terrible, abusive person and the only reason Tim doesn't cut him off right now is because he knows he'd loose all of the friends and family he'd made as robin in the process.
Robin 121: And then he makes him go to bed on time- and then the next day he has him do his homework- and the worst thing Tim can imagine from him is his disappointed dad face <3
Like yea I do heavily prefer the latter and will accept the jarring as hell transition if it gets me out of the former faster but gosh golly is that some narrative whiplash
LMAO YEAH. YEAH. what a switch over of writers does to the General Vibe And Narrative of a book is so fucking funny sometimes

a reminder of my objectives in writing my current wip:

what to do:
explore the barbies' individual motivations
put the barbies in situations so they can See each other
create scenarios conducive to barbies kissing
what not to do:
allow the Research to psych you out. FUDGE THAT SHIT
II) Build The World
what to do:
include asides and mentions of things outside of the pov character's scope of observation/knowledge
construct vague map and timeline where necessary
disguise exposition with snark
what not to do:
allow the Research to psych you out. FUDGE THAT SHIT
III) Indulge Yourself 10000%
what to do:
save canon-doomed characters from their fates
write interactions that spark joy
give girls (gender neutral) lots of friends
put men (gender specific) in situations and outfits
what not to do:
allow the Research to psych you out. FUDGE THAT SHIT
