no buddie hoover scene was a crime so i'm fixing it
Eddie at Buck’s apartment is not an unusual sight. Eddie at Buck’s apartment with a dog, though—
“Why do you have a dog?” Buck asks, following up quickly with, “Wait, isn’t that Hoover?
“It is,” Eddie says, oh-so-casually.
“I thought Bobby had Hoover,” Buck says, furrowing his brow.
“Hen had Hoover,” Eddie corrects.
“And now you have Hoover?”
“Now you have Hoover,” Eddie says brightly.
“Oh absolutely not,” Buck says, even as he backs up to let Eddie in.
Eddie fixes him with what Buck would’ve called puppy dog eyes, if it weren’t for the literal puppy that’s also staring at him. “You’re going to love him,” Eddie says, and while Buck isn’t in the habit of disbelieving anything that comes out of Eddie’s mouth—
“I don’t believe you.” Buck narrows his eyes.
Eddie picks Hoover up and holds him so he’s face to face with Buck. “Look in these little eyes and tell me you don’t already love him, not even a little bit.”
Buck bites his lip. “Eddie,” he whines, “I’m not allowed to have dogs.”
“Who’s gonna know?” Eddie shrugs. “Come on,” he says in a high-pitched imitation of Hoover, “don’t you want a fluffy new roommate that wants to give you kisses?”
Buck’s resolve is crumbling. Quickly.
“Won’t Chris miss him?” Buck asks desperately.
“Not if he’s here,” Eddie replies cheerfully, setting Hoover on the floor. “You don’t want to break his little heart do you?”
“Hoover’s or Christopher’s?” Buck nearly cries.
Eddie shrugs. “I’ve got food for him in the truck, want to help me grab it?”
Buck’s shoulders sag. “Fine,” he says. “But you owe me.”
“Add it to my tab,” Eddie jokes.
“Yeah, yeah,” Buck answers, bumping him deliberately as they head for the door.
As soon as it’s closed behind them, Hoover begins to bark.
Eddie winces.
Buck groans.
“I’m blaming you when I don’t get my security deposit back.”
