again looking over the reworked history what the hell happened with Ripwater, I wanna know. What *was* that? How did Riverclan kill it?
Oooooh, quite a request! Ripwater, Queen of the Lake, one of the episodes of BB!Po3!
Ripwater is a Wels Catfish, the largest freshwater fish in Europe. The biggest specimen EVER caught was just landed last year, in 2023, 9.4 feet long. It wasn't weighed, but smaller fish than this one have broken 300 pounds.
And it's not a good thing that we're catching so many big ones.
Wels catfish are extremely invasive across most of Europe, introduced for anglers who want to land record-setting catches. They're massive, intelligent carnivores, sometimes called the "freshwater orca" because they will lunge out of the water to catch land prey. They DESTROY the population of anything big enough to fit in its terrible mouth, including fish, amphibians, and even turtles.
They get that big from a mix of constant food and hot temperature. It's a sign that they're devastating their surroundings, and that nothing has been able to kill them for the decades it takes to get so large.
So of course, some dunderhead put them in British rivers, where they've been spreading upwards ever since. Thankfully they thrive better where it's warmer, so they're not too massive of a threat to BB's modeled regions in Northwestern England, but they're fucking coming.
Ripwater's name isn't an exaggeration. That's how they hunt. They gape their jaw and beat their fins like dragons, creating eddies and currents that suck their hapless prey in. When RiverClan names her, it's because they see her ripping the water in half. I was thinking about her recently, and came up with some new stuff. I'll take a brief break from my drafts to serve up some fragments for you.
Tumblr media
[A gray cat with blue eyes, Lakepaw, later BB!Lakeheart, swims in bluegreen water surrounded by lilypads. Below her is the massive shadow of Ripwater, a gigantic Wels Catfish. Its eyes flash in the depths.]
SMALL RECAP OF BB!PO3: (to set the stage)
It is now a breather arc, just dedicated to some worldbuilding!
I feel pretty strongly that Po3's strength is how AWESOME of a slice-of-life arc it could have been. To this end, I removed the Kin of your Kin prophecy from it, until it's revealed only at the very end just before Cruel Season.
That's so I can focus on The Three and their adventures around the lake, without this big prophecy looming over them and making the lower-stakes conflicts look small.
Instead, the various episodes of Po3 are related to problems that their new home presents, with just a teeny bit of Sol's magical influence to spice things up.
While Lionpaw learns about the "meaning of strength" and ultimately learns a terrible lesson he will extend to his kits, and Jaypaw finds his limits and learns to prevent others from defining them for him, Hollypaw is grappling with Fire Alone and how to reconcile her grandfather's legacy with her strict dedication to the Warrior Code.
And SO we find ourselves in one of the earliest episodes of BB!Po3; Ripwater the River Demon. This is like... episode 3 or 4, it's a REALLY early one.
I'm just shuffling it around with ANOTHER RiverClan-centric episode; the Shinewater Plague. The oilspill from TNP is now going to be bumped up to Po3 so it's more about establishing Mothwing and her apprentice Willowpaw, to contrast Leafpool and her apprentice Hollypaw, before Holly swaps to being a warrior. Jaypaw completes warrior training before becoming a Cleric apprentice.
So I don't want them to be TOO close together. Maybe put Ripwater in Book 2 and have RiverClan comment that they don't really want to ask for help because of the last big event, Mistystar hates feeling indebted to ThunderClan.
After all, it could basically replace the "flood" episode from Canon Po3, which is often forgotten about anyway. I'm already having ShadowClan construct dams instead of RiverClan anyway...
ANYWAY RIPWATER
I want to start this episode off with Sol/Harry, who is unnamed, messing around near water. He has a bit of a fish motif going on that I want to establish, and I need to get him to start messing with the Clans good and early.
(Specifically his motif is going back and forth between the koi, also an invasive and notably domesticated species, and the atlantic salmon which is famous for its changing life cycle.)
The Wels Catfish is an invasive species to England, slowly making its way up the island from the South. The fish who will become Ripwater, at this point, is already HUGE but not cat-swallowing huge. She's an 80-pounder.
Sol hits her with some godly magic, which allows her to grow at a rapid rate.
The sort of thing where it wouldn't be COMPLETELY implausible. He just... helped it along.
When we get to her first true on-screen appearance interacting with RiverClan, she is nearly 300 pounds of monstrosity with a length of about 8 feet
I'm unsure how, exactly, ThunderClan comes to know of this. But I DO know that I want Hollypaw to be snooping, and heavily encouraged by her mentor Brackenfur to do so. So, somehow, SOMETHING starts going wrong across the lake and ThunderClan catches wind of it.
Thinking about it, this should probably be her first big action after swapping out of Cleric apprenticeship.
One of the few things she's missing about Clerichood is the way she could be close to Willowpaw without needing to sneak around so much. It's easier to just pass it off as "friendship" and "Clerics need to be close." Leafpool and Mothwing are a similar way.
Possibly work in that Hollypaw's also already seeing Heatherpaw in the tunnels, contrast the two things...
At this point, Hollypaw has a crush on Willowpaw, which is requited, but... it's kinda fading.
She still loves her like a friend, but she's liking Heatherpaw a lot more. It doesn't mean she doesn't CARE for Willowpaw, of course, but
Willowpaw is still IN love, and it's slowly becoming unrequited, when it didn't used to be.
And from RiverClan's POV...
The first disappearance is so sudden they have no idea what's happened. I'm planning for it to be Robinpaw.
(I go back and forth on if it's Robinpaw or Dapplepaw, but I'm leaning towards Robinpaw again, because I like Dapplenose too much to have her get killed off here.)
She went out clamming in the lake with her sisters, Lakepaw and Otterpaw, there was a swirl in the water, and that was it. She was gone.
Just like that.
She never came back up. RiverClan searched for her, following the currents, checking the shoreline, everything. It was like she vanished.
Mistystar is suspicious and doing everything in her power to figure out what happened, but... let's face it. It's the word of two apprentices, who were swimming alone, who swear Robinpaw just went under.
Misty JUST got done with the Shinewater Plague and isn't trying to make RiverClan look like it can't keep track of its own young. The most likely situation is that Robinpaw was sucked down by an undertow that the three of them were too inexperienced to recognize.
So... she's pretty adamant about not sharing this information until Robinpaw's body is found. Jaws Style. "We cannot let the other Clans be alarmed by this, else they might meddle in our affairs..."
(and she's still maybe a little paranoid that some snoop in another Clan is going to find out that Leopardstar wasn't killed by a rogue, y'know.)
I don't want it to be TOO much of a bloodbath, so I'm capping Ripwater's body count at three and just aiming for two deaths total.
I'm also going for a coincidence RiverClan is going to interpret as a pattern; this happens a lot, specifically, when they're hunting Freshwater Pearl Mussels.
Ripwater doesn't like the river as much as she likes the lake, but it has nothing to do with their clamming. They're just going to interpret it as such.
Anyway.
The next one she goes after was lucky. By some stroke, she opens her jaw, and the victim is able to grab onto something before they're sucked in. (Maybe toss in something here were it was Holly who was able to help save them.)
Since the WHOLE Po3 Apprentice Generation is going to be getting more focus, there needs to be more input from the RiverClan apprentices. Lakepaw and Otterpaw obviously need time here, but I also NEED to involve Ripplepaw, to establish how he's going to be seen as one of the strongest in RiverClan by OotS.
EDIT FROM THE FUTURE AS I FIGURED STUFF OUT:
It was Ripplepaw, Otterpaw, and their two mentors on a raft who were attacked next. They were fishing for mussels in a shallower part of the lake.
Otterpaw was tethered to the raft with a flax lead, so it wouldn't float off. Or just tugging it in her mouth. Either way she had a line.
When Ripwater attacks her, she is swallowed on the line like a worm on a hook
And it starts pulling the WHOLE RAFT down, just a crummy bundle of sticks
One of the mentors started shouting to cut the line, else it would drag all of them under, but Ripplepaw dives right down to beat its ass without telling them he's not gonna cut it
Hollypaw just rushed right in, didn't think about it, forgetting she was supposed to be trying to sneak around
Taking control as the natural leader she is, she ordered them to shut up and start pulling the opposite way
Underwater, Ripplepaw braced himself against the fish's lips, grabs Otter's tether, and YANKS
Abovewater, the adult warriors are pulling together, Holly grabs the raft and pulls too
Once their paws touch the bottom of the shallows it's over, one last HEAVE-HO and POP!
Otterpaw is FREE
And when it's finally known that the apprentices weren't mistaken, there's a monster in the water, THAT'S when the debate really starts up. Mistystar does NOT want ThunderClan meddling, and she'll already be pissed off that Hollypaw (and any OTHERS who tagged along with her, I wouldn't put it past Honeypaw to wriggle her little yellow butt into a later draft, or Lionpaw for his massive strength) witnessed something that's not her business.
There's a moment from canon I desperately want to keep; where Squirrelflight comes to fetch her daughter.
(more reason to just say this is replacing The Flood Episode from canon lmao)
It's such an interesting moment, and so forgotten. In a nutshell, Squilf is both furious and concerned that her kit went missing and meddled in another Clan's affairs, but... understands the impulse.
Because it's something she would have done.
So when she scolds Hollypaw, there's this aching feeling that she's scolding a younger version of herself. Calling her arrogant and disloyal, that an apprentice's opinions mean less, and that she needs to listen to "older and wiser" warriors within her own Clan.
In BB, I want to do something big with this. Firestar is the figurehead of Fire Alone, who encouraged Hollypaw's behavior through his deputy, Brackenfur, who he set as her mentor for a reason.
But Squirrelflight is being abused. By Brambleclaw.
This is one of the lowest points in Squirrelflight's life, and she is walking a line between self-worth, the warrior code, and her personal beliefs, just like her daughter is.
SO, since I'm already using Brambleclaw's enabling of Ashfur's physical abuse as one of the contributing factors to Hollyleaf's descent, I ALSO want to show how he acts on other characters.
Brambleclaw, Clan Culture, the pressures of their strength-obsessed social system. So it's gotta be Squirrelflight that reminds her, or even plants the seed in her head;
"What you did isn't consistent with the Warrior Code."
Maybe even have Mistystar herself state this earlier, to be echoed by Squirrelflight, offering an alternate perspective to Hollypaw. Make her realize that ThunderClan's political leanings are not universal or even popular.
But when Hollypaw comes back to ThunderClan, whoever set her to be a snoop wants her to spill the beans. This is also a big WIP part, as Hollypaw struggles with if she's going to obey or not, and I still need to set all the political "players" in this moment.
I know for sure, though, that Firestar's IMMEDIATE desire is to meddle like it's an episode of Scooby-Doo. Though he's savvy enough to be smart about how he phrases it and what actions he takes, his ultimate goal is to put his little cheeto-dust paws all over this. And Hollypaw is starting to question how appropriate that actually is.
This is where it starts to really be a rip in Holly's mind. Clans aren't JUST big, blanket groups with united opinions, they're collections of individuals. Mistystar doesn't want meddling, but Willowpaw is in danger. Otterpaw and Lakepaw went all that time without being believed, after they watched their sister die, because they're lowly apprentices like her. Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are angry and disappointed, while Firestar and Brackenfur are secretly lathering her in praise.
Now imagine me standing in front of a big board where I'm writing ??? because there's a missing chunk here.
I need to connect THIS part to what comes next, which is where ThunderClan DOES come in and help out. Here's the thought process going on in RiverClan;
Willowpaw comes in to do something important. She adores Hollypaw, knows her value as a Cleric, and knows that StarClan can sway Mistystar.
I want her to have a couple of pieces of a vision... BUT. She decides to interpret it in a way that's convenient, and add a few details.
It's not a tooootal lie lmao. It's just 75% true.
This is the true power of Clerics, when they realize it. No one can actually challenge them without just ignoring them or stripping them of power. They are accountable to StarClan alone.
A mentor simply doesn't say this out loud to their apprentice. It's a quiet secret. And Willowpaw just realized it.
and thinking about it... this should be the thing that finally breaks the budding romance Holly and Willow had. Holly is sickened by this, when Willow confesses how she convinced RiverClan to work with ThunderClan.
But, without even being a full Warrior, the apprentice leverages her power as Cleric of RiverClan, and 200 skill points of Improv Acting, to tell them these things;
"StarClan is so angry with us that they've sent a hog to the water! It's why they've sent a ThunderClan apprentice, we must work with them to eliminate the beast that lurks in our waters. With spears and plans, we must hunt it honorably!"
(Mistystar is defensive, but it's not known why) "We haven't disobeyed StarClan in any way. We'd already accepted their help once before, when sickness drove us to weakness, and it's only let them think they can disrespect our borders as they please. This can't be the holy will of our ancestors."
"It's-- We've been disrespecting this bountiful new land that they've so generously given us. That's what the pile of shells in my dream was. Think about it! The last attack was on the shore where we collect mussels. The second attack was on a cat latched to a raft, and it was only the tether that saved them. And the first..."
IVE GOT AN IDEA, Robin, Lake, and Otter WEREN'T clamming when they were attacked. She gestures over to Lake, knowing that if she doesn't back her up, the theory crumbles.
(Otter is in the Cleric's den, unconscious.)
Lake hesitates, not wanting to lie. Willow jumps back in,
"It's why Otterpaw was attacked," does those little jazz-hands to be like 'come in bitch work with me,' "And it's why Lakepaw has to be involved in killing it, to end what she started, and appease StarClan."
Lakepaw more like I LIKE-what-you-just-saidpaw, "It's true, we were so ashamed to admit it, Mistystar, this is all MY fault, I wanted my siblings to dig up mussels, PLEASE let me atone by stabbing the fish to death"
AND AFTER THAT IT'S NOODLIN' TIME
Mistystar, begrudgingly, accepts Firestar's help, or perhaps reaches out to him. Ripwater is a "Hog in the Lake," a beast too big for them to kill honorably on their own.
ThunderClan is the ONLY Clan that uses spears, and only for boar hunts. To protect themselves and to give their quarry a quicker death.
No other Clan touches weapons for dishonor reasons, as they're heavily associated with the demon Shredtail.
I should have Willowpaw explain her half-truth to Hollypaw here, and it's where Hollypaw just... so very suddenly can't look at Willowpaw the same way.
Jaypaw would definitely face an ableist moment from someone, but it's going to have to be one of those times where he accepts that there IS a very real limit to his ability here. Spears are range-weapons and his whiskers don't reach that far. He can't tell where he's stabbing, and the water is going to make it too hard to smell where Ripwater's dangerous mouth is. He can't be chosen for this hunt.
Meanwhile Lionpaw learns from Willowpelt how to make a spear and it is one of the most satisfying things he's ever done in his life, he's like "this is so awesome oh my god i love weapons"
just gently setting up that he's going to eventually become ThunderClan's head of hunting, and also that he's a lil violent
I feel like him and Lakepaw should hit it off a little because they both think the idea of stabbing a fish in the face is super cool, only for someone to growl at them that they shouldn't be enjoying themselves so much
Maybe Blackclaw, fuck that guy
(absolute tangent but BB!Lionblaze is kind of evolving into a little dork and I love that for him. Local himbo only capable of making friends or enemies, all Clanwide opinions on him are polarized, more at 11)
THE PLAN
So how DO they kill that thing? First of all, it's all about strategy.
Immediately they started making a couple of specialized spears. Most spears they make are exclusively for boar-hunting, so they have a distinctive "lug" that prevents a boar from impaling itself down the shaft to get you.
Someone in RiverClan explains that you don't want a fish having the chance to get off a claw. If Ripwater escapes, they might not find her again until she kills someone else
The solution is that these need to be custom-made, with special claw-shaped prongs, so they're chevron ^ shapes instead of tear-drop points. They stab in, and don't pull out.
So they need to make spears from scratch, which is an intensive process, and they don't have time to waste. RiverClan doesn't want to hunt by water that has a chance of having a freshwater orca spawn and drag you in; they'll starve
And there's only so many artisans in TC that can MAKE spears. Glue, twine, shafts, blades... these are all things that take hours of labor to create.
And MORE IMPORTANTLY, they realized from the Raft Rescue that a tether, attached to a floating object, can be very useful. Each weapon has rope tied through it and is tethered to a raft-- which is even MORE intensive, RiverClan had to repurpose several nets to create so many lines, and they only own three rafts, so the rest have driftwood.
So they only have time to create 3 special water-spears, and bring in 2 modified boar-spears.
Lionpaw is like visibly disappointed he can't have one lmao
The only apprentice given a spear is... Lakepaw. And it's a boar-spear
Because she's gonna be bait. They believe the litter is cursed for their "sin" and she'll be the next target.
But still, they chum up the water near the last sighting with blood and crowfood, like hog slop, and wait.
(Heavy WIP stuff here as we get to a play-by-play I haven't fully figured out yet)
Their plan is to get it on the shore as quickly as possible.
Four cats could pull Otterpaw from its mouth, so 5 spearcats and a dozen strong warriors could pull it onto the shore. Surely.
shorely.
It comes as expected, lunging at Lakepaw. She leaps back and tries to use her spear on it, but she is NOT properly trained with it, she stabs its face, but can't break the skull
RiverClan manages to toss a net at the beast, but it's NOT heavy enough
And they managed to get LAKEPAW with it, pressing her to the beast, her spear is dropped into the water
Someone shouts that it swims like an eel, able to just reverse course unlike a REAL fish which must turn
In the panic, warriors start mobbing it.
she thrashes, and splashes and the net is barely holding her back at all
She smashes a warrior with her tail, buffs another with her powerful head
She's stabbed in her side by a ThunderClan warrior (probably Sandstorm), and she turns on the raft they're standing on, breeching and SMASHING it to bits. Lionpaw and the rest of the cats on this raft get dunked
In the water, ThunderClan cats are useless, and RiverClan cats can't properly handle spears.
Someone from RiverClan, probably Blackclaw, tries to free Lakepaw but is scooped up in Ripwater's mouth.
He's screeching and yowling and trying to hold onto its upper jaw, regularly cut off as she dives under
When Willowpelt gets her spear in, she holds onto that damn stick with her LIFE, getting swung around and dunked in the water and then going back up into the air
Thornclaw, holding the other boar-spear, aims for its tail
But it's not enough; Even with several warriors of RiverClan, five spears, a net, and the weight of the two remaining rafts, Ripwater's managing to pull them towards the depths
She's too big to bite, too large to claw, and too strong to hold down
LIONPAW TIME
He grabs the spear that Lakepaw dropped
Ripplepaw seems to zoom right passed him, running away from the fish. He thinks he must be some kind of coward, the fight's NOT OVER YET!! WE NEED TO HELP LAKEPAW
(In a later draft I might have Lionpaw be on the smashed raft, and Ripplepaw brings the spear to him before turning and bolting back to shore. Either way he doesn't explain himself)
He paddles near one of the rafts, and is pulled up onto it
Firestar calls him a WONDERFUL BOY for bringing the spear
Lionpaw mumbles something enthusiastic around the stick in his mouth, wriggles his butt, and jumps back into the water
Grabbing the net sticking to Ripwater and using it like tree bark, he pulls himself on
Bites the spear by the lug like a handle
And stabs it in like a knife
But it's already starting to pull out, too shallow
Filled with anger and resolve, he bites the shaft, and PUSHES
Harder and harder and harder until there's a crackle, the twine breaks loose, and the lug snaps
The rest of the spear slips in as if Ripwater's made of butter
Figuring that's probably deep enough, he lets go of the net, breaching the surface, sputtering and hacking
He's about to dive again to go get Lakepaw, but to his surprise, she breaks the water next to him
and then he feels the fish bump his paws
His name is called from the shore, and there's Hollypaw and Ripplepaw waving. Ripplepaw TOOK HIS SPEAR'S ROPE. Like a GUY WHO THINKS.
Now there was a team of cats on the shore, all the spent warriors who got thrown off, pulling Ripwater to the shore.
And from the feeling of slimy fish under his paws, it seemed like her fight had been all but spent.
And more cats were swimming to shore now, with the ropes attached to the other spears.
Once on the shore, they're able to discover that, tragically, Blackclaw has died. Mistystar in particular looks deeply torn by this, as their relationship was notoriously toxic. But still, he had been the father of her children, and drowned trying to save a Clanmate. She jumps up onto the massive fish, giving a speech about sacrifice, how Blackclaw and Robinpaw would be honored, and that RiverClan has learned its valuable lesson.
Ripwater was symbolic; it's the greed they had unleashed upon the lake by over-exploiting one resource. From now on, they would be respectful of StarClan's bounty. She thanks ThunderClan for helping to fulfill a prophecy, and offers that their debt be repaid by splitting the meat of the hunt.
Hollypaw, internally: "Oh she's doing that on purpose. She knows ThunderClan hates fish and it would be rude to refuse."
Firestar: "well. how could we refuse."
Sandstorm, quietly, in the distance: "easily actually ew"
CLOSING STUFF
I kinda want some kind of "epilogue festival" where the two Clans legitimately celebrate with a somewhat somber meal sharing. Some of these episodes in Po3 will result in lasting traditions and holidays that are celebrated annually.
At that little "fish festival," it works for Holly to officially break it off with poor Willow, to leave this episode off on a bit of a sad note.
This was one of the first times Lionpaw's power becomes obvious, and it's the sort of thing that wasn't really noticed. I figure it would be good for Lakepaw to ask how that lug snapped, she could barely even get the spearhead in. Lionpaw just brags and says it must be because he's SUPER STRONG.
For some reason he's just making a ton of friends whenever I write these out, I think I'm going to lean into it. Lionpaw's got friends when he's a kid lmao, starts losing them over time as he gets more violent.
It's probably because I really need a comic relief in The Three's dynamic. Hollypaw is very dramatic, Jaypaw is dealing with legitimately stressful social issues, and Lionpaw is violent. Someone has to lighten the mood up a little and it's probably because he's The California Girl himself lmao
At this fish festival he also discovers fish isn't actually that bad. Everyone's being weird about this. It's not really that slimy. It's got a strong taste but that's kinda nice, actually?
Could use some berries but like... "damn why don't we do this more often. this would go great with blackberries."
Ripplepaw: "You think so? I can taste sweetness, can I try to make it at home and tell you how it works out at the next Gathering?"
Lionpaw: "It's not hard, you just mash the berries and stew them in a little water before pouring it over your meat. I learned it from Willowpelt, she's got a mad sweet tooth."
Lakepaw: "No offense Lionpaw, but I always thought you were a total lunkhead. I never thought you'd like, cook?"
Lionpaw: "I mean not really, I'm an awful cook, I can just make simple stuff. Willowpelt's just nice enough to be patient with me, my mentor Ashfur says if I can learn something anyone can, haha."
Just a nice little moment for him.
Blackclaw is being mourned in the mortal plane, but secretly, getting a SCATHING trial up in StarClan. His death was heroic, but his ENTIRE LIFE was treacherous.
From teaching Hawkfrost to follow in his father's pawsteps, to joining him in WindClan's Civil War, and his constant arguing and undermining of Mistyfoot back when she was just a deputy trying to do the right thing.
He goes on trial for a bunch of things he did in TigerClan, too, facing his victims who took his misdeeds to their graves. He's not the only cat in RiverClan who is getting a review like this.
Leopardstar is already in the Dark Forest, and soon, Blackclaw's sent there too.
I decided to kill off Blackclaw here so he could have a VERY cool Land Mar;
(context: all Dark Forest demons now get a cool little evil playset area just for them, where they spawn into after they're thrown out of StarClan. These are called Land Mars)
Tumblr media
It's still unnamed, but it's basically an even BIGGER Ripwater. It goes above and below the river and lakes of the Dark Forest, popping up in any body of water big enough to hold her.

more from the hollycinder partners in crime au, their little family ( original concept/au idea by @the-owl-tree )! i imagine dovewing got cinderheart’s build with hollyleaf’s striking features while ivypool is leaning more towards hollyleaf’s tall stature but cinderheart’s recognizable markings.
holly’s disappearance into the tunnels after upending the entire normalcy of thunderclan had left quite a stir in her wake. ivy and dove grow up trying to make sense of and deal with her legacy in their own ways. cinder is in the middle, fiercely protecting her daughters’ youth from a world which wants to press the weight of everything on their shoulders far too readily while also struggling to figure out her own identity.
very detailed brainrot under the cut
it seemed like an ironic twist of fate in the eyes of lionblaze and jayfeather that dove was to take holly’s part in the prophecy, quickly sweeping her under their wing and closely guiding her paws. the lingering worry that she would stray from them and onto a dangerous path as holly had- doubly so since lion was made dove’s mentor. lion is fiercely protective of dove, seeing in her a bright potential and genuinely wants her to succeed. however it is quite clear to everyone that he’s projecting his sister onto her, for all her talent and resourcefulness going beyond the shadowy pelt and leading to heightened expectations. dove swallows down her discomfort at the pressure, wanting to make everyone proud and live up to their expectations, not only as warrior but as part of a prophecy so much larger than herself. one that she feels is partially to blame for driving her other parent away, as jay eventually reveals to her to full truth, leading to feelings of guilt she doesn’t even particularly understand. torn between stars and shadows, her paws wander over clan borders in search of an answer or escape for herself while discovering things she’d never expect.
meanwhile ivy feels like a spectator in her own life. listening in on near constant rumors and gossip about her family that she isn’t even included in, instigated by a cat she doesn’t even know. getting even further frustrated by just how passively helpless to remedy anything she is. while cinder treats the two girls completely equally, ivy isn’t blind to the practically palpable anticipation thunderclan holds towards dove. she’s a prodigy, with the undivided attention of both the clan’s healers and one if not the strongest warrior as a mentor, sent on journeys and given extra assignments as cats discuss how promising she is- yet also the level of suspicion cats hold towards her for being related to both a traitor, a healer, and a windclanner. ivy is of course of the exact same blood, yet she might as well not exist to anyone but dove and cinder bar a few extended family members. feeling isolated yet reluctant to try and burden her already troubled closest kin with insecurities she feels are ‘insignificant’, ivy meets hawkfrost who seems to not mind listening. in fact he says he relates to her, having a controversial family history himself. ivy asks for advice, ending up gaining confidence with his helpful suggestions and in turn drawing closer to the dark forest. she seems more well adjusted, yet in truth she’s merely getting better at lying and giving cats a spectacle to notice her by. while her social life improves, the unease in her grows as she’s gradually lured into working for the dark forest. ivy with new confidence and supposedly trustworthy new friends feels as if she can balance the danger despite rising escalation.
cinder, ivy, and dove remain extremely close. there is certainly friction between ivy and dove, however cinder is incredibly involved in their lives. refusing to let them lash out at each other and drift apart, she’s reminded all too painfully of her bitter last interaction with holly. she regrets how they ended, strangely enough considering how she didn’t regret dirtying her paws with blood to cover up holly’s sins. what she will not tolerate however is disrespect against her kits, growing estranged from her childhood friends jay and lion upon seeing how oddly they treat dove. it’s an uncomfortable situation, yet dove and ivy both are incredibly grateful to always have cinder in their corner. just for her they’ll set their reservations towards each other aside to form an at least temporarily stable truce. that being said, cinderheart being a reincarnation of cinderpelt actually has relevance to her character here that can be a whole other post on its own so i won’t go into it.
holly is more washed than a rack full of clean dishes icl. fleeing into the tunnels was a temporary solution, made at the peak of her mental crisis she initially tries to ignore how horrifically she treated so many cats. pushing it aside, and trying to restart herself. yet she can never forget cinder, even when she leaves the tunnels to become a wanderer cinder’s loyalty always sticks out so clearly. the kindness that holly had pushed and pushed and pushed until it broke and now here they were after that blow-out argument upon the gathering’s aftermath. a lot can be said for the time she’s out living as a rouge, but she eventually will have to come back and face her horrible past mistakes. unfortunately not before meeting a cat who might change everything for the worse- darktail C:
there’s some more i could mention because the cinderholly brainrot is infectious but i already rambled enough sorry TY IF U ACTUALLY READ THIS LOL UH </3 reward for making it down here is the fullbodies of these very normal not tortured individuals i consider them an equally normal amount

[Excerpt from Sorrow Beyond Words: Collected Testimony of the War of Wrath, 4th Edition; ed. Elrond Peredhel. Archive of Cîw Annúminas, inaugural collection]
“Simply reaching Menegroth was a struggle. Doriath had become a twisting nightmare of overgrowth and rot and mists, as Morgoth’s power warred with the remains of the Girdle and our old songs. Ai, our home, our haven! I know the name of every holly in Region, before the exile. We found deadfalls surrounded by dozens of animals who’d lain down beside the trees and rotted before they died. Blind moose more antler than flesh staggered towards us even after a dozen arrows. Vines covered in dripping thorns reached for our eyes. The cherry trees were overladen with fruits that smelled like gangrene. Deildhod stumbled into a nest of maddened vipers, and only escaped because their tails were all tangled together into a festering mass and could hardly move. We never saw or heard a single bird. I’m amazed we lost no one in that whole push through Region. No, I speak a lie. I know how we passed through with nothing worse than scrapes. Elrond was with us, and the ghost of Melian’s love still recognized her kin.
“Esgalduin had nearly been dammed by one of Hírilorn’s fallen boles, but the bridge still held. We crossed and reached the ruined gates, wrought twice and broken twice. Within there was only darkness to be seen; we knew not what manner of horrors Morgoth had sent to infest the city, but Ingwion was unwilling to leave them at the rear of his forces as he moved north, if it could be helped. Celeborn stood at Elrond’s right and myself at his left. Far less an honor guard than the heir of Elu Thingol and Melian Besain deserved. Yet in those dark days it was all the honor we could muster. King Dior Eluchíl had known thirty-six summers when he was unrighteously slain. Queen Elwing Nimaew thirty-five when despair took her to the sea. Lord Elrond Peredhel beheld the city of Elu for the first and only time in his twenty-ninth summer.
“Elrond stood before his inheritance and Sang. He sang a lament, for the lost endless years of joy and peace, for deep halls lit by birdsong and echoing with wisdom, for the Forsaken People who awoke the forest and earth with many voices, for the works of beauty never to be seen again on this side of the sea. He sang a promise, that the glory of Menegroth will be remembered in the songs of Middle-Earth for as long as its children endure. He sang thanks, for the protection the halls granted us until it could shelter us no more. As his song at last ceased, I thought I heard nightingales answering him.
“Stars shone on his brow, and his hair glistened as the vault of night, and the memories of our once-eternal bliss in the woods of Thingol’s realm under Elbereth’s gifts arose in my mind. Let Oropher dream of a deep hall for his own; let Celeborn reign where he will at his wife’s side! I knew in my heart, as the echo of nightingale songs faded, that there was no lord or king I would ever stand beside save Elrond Elwingion.
“The living stone in which our kingdom once thrived knew his voice, and at long last laid down its burden and passed. The darkness over Menegroth was lifted, and we went forth into its corpse, and no beast or orc could stand before us. I do not sing of what we found and left behind when we cast down the bridge and gave leave for the river to flood the caves. It is not worth remembering.”

Darkstripe!
Tumblr media
Design Notes:
He looks like a spikey Graybelly (stripe) He and Gray got their body type from both their grandmother Rosebush and their kittypet father Teddy (a Norwegian Forest cat) Ashfall (fur) has his dad's crazy eyes aweeee
Character Bio:
Darkstripe
Gay (& has no bitches); he/him
Age as of 1st arc's beginning: 2 cycles; 24 Hyrs
Title meaning: -stripe = a cat with distinctive stripe markings; a cat who is easily antagonized and angered; a cat with a “spiky” personality; based on the fact that a stripe is often jagged and sharp
Warrior of Thunder Order -> Warrior of Tiger Order; was a Thunder Warrior but after trying to kill Sorrel he was banished and joined Star Tigerclaw in Tiger Order.
Mentor: Star Tigerclaw
Mother: Willowchime
Father: Teddy (kittypet)
Siblings: Graybelly
Half Siblings: Sootfur, Rainwhisker, Sorreltail
Kits; Sired Brindleface's litter, was a shit dad: Ashfall; Ferncloud; Tulip; Elder
Grandkits: Birchfall; Larch; Holly; Toadstep; Rosepetal
Other notable kin: Rosebush (grandmother); Redtail (uncle); Spottedleaf (aunt); Sandstorm (cousin); Willowfeather (niece); Oakfeather (nephew); Ciderheart (niece); Honeyfern (niece); Poppyfrost (niece)
Extra notes:
Definitely had a one sided crush on Tigerclaw, ofc it would never go anywhere Tiger was his mentor and way older than him.
Hates his step dad Lynxstorm.
Character Summary:
Due to being apprenticed to Tigerclaw, Darkstripe was taught to be VERY xenophobic. He became extremely insecure about the fact that he had kittypet blood, and he never forgave his mother for it, despite the fact that outsider sires are allowed within the Orders.
He constantly wanted to prove himself to Tigerclaw and wanted to make him notice and respect him so he tried to be exactly like Tiger (he failed at this, it just made him look dumb)
Dark became even more hateful towards his mother once he saw that her second son, Gray, was obviously sired by the same tom as Dark, both brothers have strong traits from Teddy. Dark fully believed his mother had a relationship with Teddy and he was pissed about it. He was right tho.. but Willow broke it off with Teddy soon after having Gray.
Dark was Shriketail's mentor and trained him the exact same way Tigerclaw trained him. He taught Shrike to be extremely insecure about his outsider origins and to be a xenophobic asshole.
Dark is something of a parallel character to Shrike, he is an example of what Shrike could have been if he hadn't turned his life around and changed as a person. Dark just fell farther into his beliefs and became truly evil.
Dark ended up siring Brindleface's litter to carry on his bloodline and hopefully make some mini Darkstripes. He was a shit dad though and didn't interact with his kits much besides pressuring them to live up to his expectations.
Dark then proceeded to help Tigerclaw kill Brindleface for the dogs. Ash and Fern already hated Dark and after finding this out when Dark was banished, Ash began his "I am filled with hate and need vengeance" arc.
just like in canon Dark tried to kill his sister Sorrel because she saw him help Tiger see his kits. He was then banished and he joined Tiger Order.
Ashfall killed him in the great battle out of vengeance and hatred, a hate that never went away.
...
[Image ID: a digital drawing of Darkstripe from warrior cats. He is standing in a defensive pose with his right side showing. He has his fur spiked up and he has an angry, wide eyed expression with his mouth open like he is yelling. He is a large, long furred, dark gray tabby tom with black stripes. he has yellow and orange eyes, with red lining the underside of them, his nose and mouth are both red./End ID}

Chapter 39. The anniversary celebration begins in earnest.
A delightfully fluffy chapter that was a treat to write, even if it took a while to figure out the gifts first. I wanted something with several layers of meaning, speaking both about the personality of the gifter and the recipient... Hope it ended up working as intended.
Hollow gets a cloak but also an opportunity to choose and start anew. All of their previous garments were made for the Pure Vessel, with them having no say in the matter. Now, though, Noon wants them to help pick a design. Plus, of course, it's moth silk - the symbol of Noon's kin.
And Noon gets wing dye, together with the proof that he is seen and wanted in Hollow's life. They remembered his favourite colour but also worked out a way to have one symbolising themselves. (It is an interesting question for another time how Hollow with no money and barely any experience leaving the temple managed to achieve it... But they did, so kudos to them.)
So yeah, gifts are exchanged and enjoyed, and it's time to move to the next part of the festivities.
P.S. Also, Holly is naked for like half a minute. Can't miss it.

fun facts about background cats in the isekei au?
Yippee, thank you for this ask!!! Love talking about these guys >:3c
Batears (She/He/They; Bisexual, leaning towards transfemme)
Doesn’t want kids. I’d initially planned for her to be infertile because, and I can’t remember the details of why, I wanted her to be a red herring in the book the story takes place of her being Frost’s kin (do not ask me to elaborate, I never wrote it down and I still don’t understand what I was thinking).
I’m wavering on the infertile thing for now. I’d rather treat it as just an aspect of her than some grand tragedy but I’d need to do more research.
Both her and Owl were pitted against each other throughout their lives to compete for the role of deputy. She ended up “falling behind” after the death of their father, she was much closer to him and the grief ended up forcing her to take some time to recover.
Big ass ears, her hearing is SHARP.
Her and Frostblaze have a solid mentor-apprentice bond. She’s straightforward and blunt.
The book they come from doesn’t give her much dialogue or appearances (hence her being inspired by the overshadowed sisters in Warriors), and she’s a bit of a wild card to Honey and the gang. She legit doesn’t know what to expect from her.
Loonsnarl (He/It - sexuality and gender undecided but SOMETHING is going on, maybe just apathy?)
Heavily inspired by Goosefeather, I feel that’s obvious lol
I wanted to take the “these events are doomed to happen” to the extreme with this guy. He is very much “this must happen and if it doesn’t, I will make it happen”.
He does everything with confidence, he says things with confidence, he acts as if everything will come to fruition. There is no room for wavering in the future, the path is decided and they must follow it through.
Splashpaw initially adopted this mentality after her first trip to the Mooncave…until something changed in her. Loonsnarl doesn’t always get along with his apprentice.
Hornettail (He/Him - Cishet
His main inspiration is Darkstripe and characters that will literally switch from being open minded to being wildly xenophobic from book to book.
The actual book they come from has it that it’s just bad writing. When Honey meets him, he’s just someone who will cling to whoever has the most power in the situation
The moment the pendulum swings out of his favor, he’s chasing after it no matter how pathetic he looks
Dawnstep (She/He - Lesbian)
Funny gal with a sick beard
Big bard energy, she loves singing and teaches the apprentice the best war songs (Honey finds the melodies catchy but the lyrics uh…gruesome)
In a butch4butch relationship with a SturgeonClan cat named Troutshine. (Side note, I think it would be funny if the territory was an ecological mess. Animals of all kinds just thrown in without care lol)
Fanon Lionheart is a big inspo for him
Sheeppaw and Elkpaw (she/her and he/him respectively, nothing decided yet but I like Elkpaw being transmasc)
Honeypaw’s lackies. She promised power and prestige when she ascended to leader and, as the more physically powerful sister, it was expected she’d be able to deliver on her word.
The two are insecure kids who were friends in the nursery, while it doesn’t excuse their bullying at all, they’re hardly evil masterminds.
In the book, they get a redemption arc and apologize to Frostblaze. In this story, I imagine it happens a lot faster when Honeypaw starts acting weird and avoiding them.
Childhood friends to lovers, I think it’s cute :)
Hollystream (she/her)
Duskflower’s sister, she was the one to step in and help raise Frostblaze when she died.
Her death still hurts her, the two were twins and very close.
While Beesnap definitely pushed for her daughter to see Frost as a rival and not a sister, Holly did the same. She also pushed Frost to go for the crown and in doing so, the two queens ending up destroying the potential friendship the sisters might’ve had.
Holly is quiet, subdued. However, she loves her goofy mate Mousesneeze and their antics, being with them has helped her recover in many ways.
I’ll probably make another edition in a bit but these are sort of the handful of cats I’ve got some concrete plans for. The latter half of the warriors in WolfClan need some fleshing out since admittedly some of them are just to pad out the Clan.
Thank you for the ask!!!!

People can’t come back from the dead.
It’s not a place you can go, death. There’s no bridge to cross, no river to ford, no gate to open – moving from one place to another requires a path and a body to walk it and a light to see by, and death takes all three. I know this. Everyone knows this.
"You have done my kin a great service," the Lady says, in her voice like wind rustling through leaves. "I will give you a gift, in return."
I had expected as much. She won’t let me leave her lands with a debt unpaid, and she can’t hold me here however much she would like to.
Not that it’s beyond her, mind you. It would just be politically problematic.
"I thank you for your generosity," I say, polite, and don’t dare wonder what she might see fit to give me. A gift, I know, is only as good as the giver’s knowledge of you, and I have taken great pains to ensure the Lady knows very little of me.
I hope, distant, small, that she won’t remake any of me.
She curves up her lips at the corners, doesn’t bare her teeth, and waves a hand. A gateway opens, nearer to me than to her, and something steps through. Someone? Tall and thin, bipedal, plain dark clothes, hearth-warm and alive, sharp dark eyes, face I see in my sleep, alive, alive–
I swallow, and make myself look at the Lady. "What is this?"
She tilts her head, bird-like, hunter-like. "Do you reject my gift?"
Questioning her is not wise. Walking into her lands was not wise – Leaving my home, such as it is, for anything other than the necessities isn’t wise. I have never lost the knack of weighing the costs. I know full well what I do.
I keep going. I get up, I keep going, I wear smooth and safe the path for anyone who comes after.
"I accept your gift," I tell her. "Your debt is paid." The weight of my words rings, metal pulled from the heat and struck sure. She nods her head, just once, and becomes small and winged – a sparrow, with a long tail and a hooked beak – and takes her leave.
We are alone in the clearing. It makes more sense, now, that the Lady met me here, in the gatewoods, with no guards. I have heard nothing of her giving impossible gifts. I wonder who else would necessitate such a show of power.
Bel looks just as I remember them.
That is, I think, the shirt they were wearing. The hole is gone, as if never there.
They’re looking at me. The gateway closed behind them, and the clearing is quiet, and for all I have dreamt of this moment I cannot think of a single thing to say.
"Hey," they say, soft. "Where are we?"
They’re looking at me with concern. I am far beyond knowing what my face is doing.
"Old realm," I say, somehow. "Oak and holly. Hill folk, mostly. Not many travellers."
"Why are we here?"
"There was a–" I trip over a word I haven’t used in years. I don’t say it. "There was a beast. I– made peace. Helped make peace. You–" Oh, the crease above their nose, how did I forget it, all the lines of their face I’ve spent so long tracing. "What do you remember?"
Their frown deepens. "You were here for a job?" I nod, once, and they glance around, look me over. "We should leave, then."
My pack rests on my shoulder, and we’re standing in the gatewoods. It’s not a difficult conclusion to draw. It hits me, anyway, like a blow. Their assessment of the situation; how much I still trust it.
I take a breath, and pull open a gateway. There’s no wards, not here – the Lady has other means of preventing an exit. No need to lock the door when it sits so high in the wall, so far from the floor. Bel hums, some suspicion confirmed, and waits for me to step through first.

Hm I kinda like the idea of Breeze killing Fire bc that’s like him assassinating the literal Jesus of their society and I think it leads to him being so deep into the DF hold. It would require Breeze to either go down villain or a really good redemption arc bc u can’t just forget abt the cat who murdered the biggest cat in the whole series.
While I love Bracken for the idea of him in my head I think him defending and dying doing that would best suit him. Like maybe he saves one of the three, maybe Lion and one of his kits from a fox or badger. It not only inspires Lion to protect and prove he is loyal to his siblings and destiny, dropping the DF and switching his life around. It makes his death important while also not being completely null to the plot/arc of PO3. This sets up Brambleclaw to be deputy and then leader soon.
Bramble being chosen for deputy after Bracken kinda makes me think he’d be learning through and overly perfecting everything to prove he can fill the paws left from his predecessor. This leads to a growing divide between him and Squilf, and maybe some irritation from his end from stress which he takes out on a few cats (mostly his wife) to elude to his soon route to a far more controlling leader. Firestar’s death is extremely shocking and Bramble is pushed into the role of leader too fast. He tries to fill his predecessors paws once again but it’s literally impossible and he starts falling behind, his deputy Squilf makes up for this a lot and covers for quite a few of his mistakes. So when the secrets revealed and he lashes out at her so harshly it really hits bc she’s been by his side this whole time, fixing his slip ups and always making sure he wasn’t hurting. He forces her to resign and we see leadership in TC slip even more bc the greatest deputy ever isn’t there to help, I don’t know who’d come after her? But maybe some cat like Sandstorm who would tell Bramble to pull himself together in front of everyone.
I’d continue but I don’t know how this’d lead past so uh here. My thoughts from my last ask and the feedback i enjoyed a lot
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I really do need to kill Firestar before the Dark Forest battle. It's a big change since Firestar's death is SO iconic, but I'm getting a lot more out of having him die early.
Breezepelt
There's actually very few cats getting a REAL "redemption" arc, so making sure that Breeze keeps his is VERY important to me... it's just something I need to be very careful with, since I am heavily leaning towards Breezy being the guy who kills Clan Jesus
The two cats I'm going to "redeem" btw, are Breezepelt and Hawkfrost. But Hawkfrost is going to die in the Great Battle, so Breeze is going to be especially important as someone who needs to live with his mistakes.
I'm still doing a lot of planning because I can't afford to be flippant with it, but I will say this; Breezepelt is going to recognize a lot of the same sickness of the Dark Forest in the upcoming Kin, in AVoS.
Brackenfur
I think his death will be a good event to mark the boundary between the more casual Po3 arc, and the serious OotS. His death is probably going to have a huge, negative impact on his apprentice, Hollyleaf.
It needs to happen before Ashfur's Fire (because Fire would not pick Bramble as deputy if he's cold shouldering Squirrelflight). With Firestar I have some more wiggle room.
Maybe Holly will keep the secret a lot longer? She kills Ashfur to keep the secret, and then it eats her alive enough to snap and reveal the whole thing... but she needs to vanish into the tunnels... still need to work out what is going to make Holly vanish (she will come back to help use her political prowess to unite the clans though).
Bramble won't be deputy for very long, either. DEFINITELY not enough time to really learn how to rule...
But anyway, enough about him.
I plan for Holly to learn a lot about diplomacy and conflict resolution from Brackenfur before he goes. Po3 is probably going to become a pretty chill arc about problem-solving and fleshing out the world, with most of the dark forest and prophecy stuff pushed back to OotS.
thinking about it, it would be pretty neat for StarClan to be right about not sharing the Kin of your Kin prophecy... seeings that it makes Lionblaze boot one daughter into the Dark Forest and emotionally traumatize the other for life
ThunderClan
BrambleSTAR will probably be pretty nasty towards Squirrelflight after the reveal. Stripping her deputy status, and making a bad pick in her stead. It wouldn't be someone experienced and rational like Sandstorm, he would probably use his position to pick someone to personally insult Squilf.
This person will probably die in the Great Battle, or otherwise step down. But in any case, the Squirrelflight drama is going to split the clan a lot, especially considering this culture HAS a concept of the Queen's Rights.
I think there would be a not-insignificant group of TC cats who believe, "It was Squirrelflight's right to not name anyone, if Brambleclaw wanted to believe he was, that was his choice. Remember the story of Mapleshade?"
Verses, of course, the Thistle Law-leaning cats who say, "It broke the code, we know about it now, everyone involved needs to be punished."
And lastly people who just think, "That was a pretty awful thing of Squirrelflight to do, to lie like that. I'm not sure who needs to be punished though, probably Leafpool?" Basically people who are mixed.
ANYWAY ThunderClan is going to have internal division, especially as Bramblestar's leadership starts so rocky and the competent deputy is removed from her position.

Holly £#©*!
I almost forgot how furiously I hated Grace Blackthorn!
My wrath towards her reading Chog is massive as tsunami wave
Tumblr media
I don't care if she was in impossible situation and was just a tool...She choose to accept it, to do those things ... with/to James, so she's not an innocent victim of the circumstances...
Tough life is not the excuse
for being the b!t¢h!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could never forgive her for the suffer she cost to my babies. The same way I could never forgive for their weaknesses: Alister for his bullying cruelty just because of his fear of being a victim of that same thing; and Matthew but not for his pride and stupidity that lead to the tragedy, it was mistake, but for the way he chosen to deal with that- which was even more stupid... Some things, even if you'll find the way to forgive, you still won't forget... it's impossible.
Tumblr media
You may except them, but only because of the others, the characters that you truly love and they're loving those guys, that's their main redeeming quality...
...and because it's fictional
Tumblr media
That's what I strongly feel reading Chain of Gold. Because we're seeing Grace only from the perspective of POV characters, but with help of narration we know a little bit more than them, so we suspect her and see her awful manipulations...and you may reminding yourself that she basically was kind of brainwashed and isolated from sane people from the young age... But still. It was her.
Tumblr media
You may not hate, but it's hard to love the knife near your throat, no matter how beautiful it is.
And also it's annoying and ridiculous that just because she was feeling bad while torturing other people, I should feel bad for her...
No £#©kin' way!
Tumblr media
So, I embraced my negative feelings towards her, cause I knew it will slowly change by the end of the trilogy.

*walks on tiredly with hair looking like Wild's after a tumble through bushes possessed by the fae because he accidentally proposed to Player, hands you a cup of tea and honey cookies, leaves without elaborating* Hey there, just passing by for now, may existence be treating you better than it is treating me.
Abyss's/Villain First's/First's and Hylia's kinda but not really break up song, also know as Una having enough of Hylia's bs in my Ancient Au after Fia/Seraph lost his arm and Dia/Ganon got corrupted and going off:
https://youtu.be/L8oYplzqdAs
I don't know why but the vibes feel right specially when you look at the story, the female singer is Athena and the male singer is Odysseus from Greek Myth on the Epic Musical by the way. Also, do you have any idea what happened with First in the Villain/Mess Au? Like is the man still trapped or did Hylia straight up obliterate him to try and keep the Chain from getting ideas (which straight up did not work because Abyss is a thing). Also for context: in my Ancient Au, Una/Zelda is straight up a Hylia slanderer, girl is so feral she'd throw hands with her and probably win with Fia/Seraph cheering in the background, specially after what happened with Flora and the entire mess with Player, I can see her also helping Fia/Seraph with the Hero's Shade deal, except instead of giving Player the means to shank Dink she teaches then the best way to suplex and throw hands with him hand to hand (Can you imagine Player straight up sucker punching him in the face and taking his kneecap rights while the Chain tries to pry them off? Fia is straight up howling with laughter and Una has the most smug, vicious smile any Zelda has ever worn), that and she'd probably teach Player how to set up traps midbattle, like Dink is midway through speech or something, closing in on a Link but ends up stepping in a net filled with barbed wire or something and trips on his face, the possibilities are endless, but I'll be back on my Fia/Seraph and Lora headcanon thing on another ask. Also her and Player straight up dragging Hylia through the coals in late night discussions during a break in Fia/Seraph's impromptu bootcamp of Player while Wind, who can most likely see ghosts is just bewildered. That or he joins in. The man himself is just trying not to die again as they get more and more vicious by the second.
Also I heard Fae instincts for Fairytale and my sleep deprived brain immediately latched on due to my latent hyper fixation with Irish myths, so I'll raise y'all this:
-Any Hyrule with a Player who's a Changeling, aka a shapeshifter Fae who has it really rough because they were abandoned by their own kin, most of them being killed via burning or drowning while young and bringing misfortune to those who hurt them in return (like someone puts Hyrule near contact with holly wood, which hurts the fae, and then immediately falls into manure the very next day, or someone speaks ill of Villain Rulie or of his missing wings and then the very next second after Player sends them a dirty look they straight up break their legs, no one knows how it happened but at least someone is side eyeing Player), also, missing/wounded wing solidarity with Villain Hyrule and anyone reacting with mild horror once they notice that Player's own wings are permanently wounded (maybe someone poured molten steel on them, so not only does it burn on a regular basis but they're just straight up permanently welded to their back) or maybe burn scars from where someone tried burning them alive, and a way too used to it Player just shrugs and goes "Humans don't like cursed children" without elaborating. Like they've just been in so much pain it doesn't bother them anymore? I don't know, just a thought, could be interesting.
-Fairies like the sound of bells although they really, really dislike the sound of iron bells (that's why a good chunk of the bells in old Ireland are made of iron, it's to keep the Fae away like how gold scares away Dullahan for a time), so I can see Hyrule getting immediately distracted or calmer around Player if he's uneasy if they have silver or gold bells on their person or, maybe having a bad feeling he could slip up and want their blood or before they get isekaid to another Chain, he gives them a steel chain (since depending on the myth it hurts fairies) filled with iron bells and tells them that, if they ever feel in danger from the Fae to ring it like their life depends on it and use the Chain as a garrote as a last resort, I doubt Player would use it with our Hyrule (heck I can straight up see then wrapping it in cloth so it doesn't ring at all near him, and sabotaging any nearby iron bells they can for good measure), but I also can imagine Yandere Hyrule or Villain Hyrule just straight up shrieking, with ears bleeding and falling down to the ground with the most inhuman sound of pain to ever come from their throat as Player uses the opportunity to run away.
Also the main reason I don't think Four is the original Hero of Men, in spite of Jojo's Lore, is because of the way he reacts to Twili magic, he recognizes it as dark magic (due to his intense trauma with it) but he doesn't recognize it as Twili magic (which is very specific and I feel like the Hero of Men would recognize, because in the opening cutscene of Minish Cap and Hyrule Encyclopedia it shows the hero of men sealed the monsters away with the original Minish Blade, and that around the same time period between Skyward Sword and Minish Cap the Twili/Interlopers were sealed away in the Twili Realm), which I feel he would after dealing with them, plus Four has and forged the Four Sword in Minish Cap, he doesn't have the original Minish Blade and it's established that the Hero of Men didn't have Fi, hence, they can't be the same but much like how Lora is an inflection point for Legend and Hyrule from my point of view The Hero of Men is an inflection point between Sky and Four.
My main headcanon is that he's even more feral than Four in account of living through what was basically a war, extremely snarky, and also has several mixed feelings towards Sky but would be super proud of Four, like him and Fia straight up almost get into fist fights about who has the best descendant (which Lora, ever unhelpful because even as a shy boy he's still a Link and a bard, so obviously he's a little shit, tells them they're both being ridiculous and to stop fighting because clearly Hyrule is the superior descendant, their battles are almost as legendary as Twilight and Fia fighting over Wild's and Calamity's custody). Also Players gets another ghost following them around and, rather than accidentally scare them like how Fia probably did between you know, appearing and the murder fae horse although he redeems himself by giving them a wolf, he just straight up messes with them for the giggles for a bit before Fia straight up smacks him over the head so he'll quit with the shenanigans).
And that's all I have for now, though I'll come back with some excerpts and Ancient au/Lora headcanons later on after my headache passes, I apologize in advance for the full on rant I'll go over my sleep deprived thoughts on possible Link/Zeldasonas because the Ancient era lives in my head rent free due to TOTK, you have been warned.
-Just a Tired Summertime Musician.
HI SUM GOOD TO HERE FROM YOU
Ngl when you mention breakup song all I could think about was Taylor Swift and I was expecting a Swiftie song Idk why
As for Prime (Villain! First) Hylia neither trap him or obliterate him- bro was straight up brainwashed, she used her opportunity when he was broken within his prison to take that shell of a man and mold her hero. Bro is neither thriving nor flourishing he is straight up in a constant state of inner suffer, stuck in mania.
Una and Player deserve to body Hylia, them both just sit over her unconscious body and share some cakes and tea and just go on about how much better they are then here- after all they didn't leave a devoted man to die nor get him trapped in prison for years.
I'm loving the idea of iron bells! Maybe a possibly way for Player to originally get away from the Vils? I dont know but I do likenit!
Listen, all Know about Jojo's Four is that his timeline confuses the fuck outta me JFNQNNSNS
Can't wait for more Lora stuff from you, Sum!

I'm back with another cat who deserves to go apeshit. It's Leafpool. It's like she was born just for StarClan and everyone to shit on her. Unless the Erins retconned it Sandstorm pressured Leafkit into becoming a med cat. Sure she did come to like it later but she had her own mother try to tell her to follow that path.
Then when she listened to StarClan and followed her heart she comes back to see her mentor dead by a badger. Then she is pregnant with Crow's kits when they split up and has to deliver them outside of the Clan and give them to Squirrel to raise as her own while she has to pretend to be the Aunt to them.
And StarClan for some ass reason got in their feelings about it and treated Leafpool like 'Wah how dare you break the code that the clan equivalent of a teenage mom in ye olde times created because she was stressed out and really shouldn't be a measurement of every medicine cat?'
And even though it was Leafpool who found the warrior version of Black Mecca, the pool she was named after and the thing that connects the world of the living to StarClan, no one acknowledges this at all and goes 'Holy Smokes, she is practically the next Moth Flight, you know that cat that found that sparkly blue stone in that cave before the two legs came and destroyed everything. Maybe we should at least give her deserved respect and that she can make mistakes like everyone else.'
Like Leafpool found the Lake version of the Moonstone to keep the Clans from running around like headless chickens and would have made the panic of having no Moonpool because it was frozen look like a cake walk because they wouldn't even have a Moonpool to have it be frozen.
Instead of saying 'Okay Leafpool, you did break the Code but since you helped the Clans not degrade into Godless Heathens, you can keep your role. It's not like you gave birth to Brokenstar 2.0 and helped save lives after all' nearly everyone treated her like she was a pariah or the next coming of Tigerstar.
Hell, when Leafpool died, that's when the Moonpool froze. It's like they were connected and when she passed, it too 'died.'
( Don't even get me started on that trial shenanigans, because I will rant until I hit a word limit LOL )
And while Holly, Lion, and Jay had every right to be mad at her but they didn't have to go out of their way to be that antagonistic since nearly every cat in the Clans both dead and alive already treated her like a yeast infection or you know, try to force her to commit suicide by the berries that did in Brokenstar.
I just kinda wish Leaf snapped back at Holly during that moment, even if it will be out of character.
'I know I gave up the right to me your mother and you every reason to be mad at me, but I will NOT have you use that tone against or say such things to kewhen you know how The Clans and our Ancestors view Kin Slaying in cold blood. Let alone killing a Medicine Cat. Firestar will be forced exile to you and when you die you will not grace the stars of Silverpelt.
And many cats broke the Code. Will you kill Crowfeather too? Technically Tawnypelt broke the Code when she went to ShadowClan and had half clan kits. Should she be slain by you as well? And Firestar was a kitty pet by birth. Should Sandstorm die for giving birth to half kitty pet cats?
If making me eat them truly will make you feel better, then do it. But my death will not be quick or pleasant. I only ask you as my final wish is that you look away as I choke to death, because I still love you, and I don't want you to see how a cat choking to death looks like.'
And Hollyleaf is so stunned she doesn't run off to the tunnels, but does come back to the Clan until a week to fully comprehend what happened.
Sorry if this came off as ranty but Leafpool deserves better.
Oooooooo this is Good Stuff! I’m not even going to write a lil story you already did Amazing! Go off Leafpool! Let Leafpool Be Angry! Let her R A G E! She was Wronged! I cannot express how good this is!

Incredibly affectionate. CUDDLES FOR DAYSSS
Has never snapped once in his life but has a lot of bottled up rage so don't press your luck too far
The shortest of the ancients, standing at 5'3"
Coincidentally the oldest of the ancients
Pretty much rules over everything (think of it like american systems, the ancients decide something and he has the final say-so over it and how far these laws go)
Beats his head with his fists when he's frustrated and kicks his feet (autism)
Gets distracted very easily (adhd)
Can't see without his staff, so he just walks around with it
Also declares he doesn't need it and runs into something two seconds later
Amazing patience and willpower
Actually can throw a pretty killer punch
That shit HURTS.
Kind enough to accept someone into his life, but kind enough to let them hurt others and get away with it.
Scarily high alcohol tolerance and beat Hollyberry in a drinking contest (never won again)
dark cacao
Very cold-hearted and rather cruel, but held in high regard for his wiseness.
Second tallest of the ancients but is also the youngest (L)
Has a huge staring problem that he plays off as observing.
Anger issues. BIG TIME.
Actually half dragon but nobody knows that yet
Constantly tired because he has to deal with the shitheads that are the ancients and their kin
Not very affectionate
Has been on the receiving end of a PV punch a few times when he was younger and would never do it again
Awful at sports
Often startled by pranks
Very low alcohol tolerance (double L)
hollyberry
Airheaded and dense
Tallest of the ancients and second youngest
Has escaped her guards several times and also helped the other ancients escape their guards
Makes a game out of getting on PVs nerves but has never gotten him to snap
Will never live him beating her in a drinking contest down
Aroace and pan

Usually a very lovey-dovey drunk (much to the displeasure of her friends)
white lily
Reclusive, yet kind
Second oldest ancient and a few inches taller than PV
Spends most of her time with Hollyberry and PV
Affectionate when she wants to be affectionate, but is very willing to accept affection
A very good cuddler
Often asleep in her room
Has a very soft singing voice that often puts her friends to sleep
Has a few strands of black and red hair from her time as D.E., as well as some mild vitiligo
Can change her form at will (D.E. is more of an alternate personality now, though she still exists)
Would absolutely worship the ground her friends walk on if she could
Mother of Herb and Clover with PV as the biological father
golden cheese
Cold and sarcastic, yet also down to earth and resourceful
Taller than PV, yet shorter than White Lily at the very middle in terms of age
Wears goggles when she flies to protect her eyes
Not super affectionate, but likes to be hugged and cuddled
Spoiled as fuck
Wears golden braces around her wrists and neck similar to the ones of African culture
Mother of Dark Choco, Roguefort, Earl Gray and Eclair, but favors Eclair over her other children
Complains about being bored every two seconds
Likes to give herself birdbaths in the bathtub
Can sleep almost anywhere
Queen of pranks
Can be very sweet if she wants to be, which isn't very often
poly ancients
They all cuddle Dark Cacao and Holly when they sleep, fight me about it
Watch movies together and talk the whole time (PV sometimes tells them to hush so he can hear what's going on in the movie)
Golden Cheese proceeds to talk twice as loud to annoy him (it works)
White Lily refuses to wake anyone but PV up with kisses, but will give affection to her other partners as an apology
PV is (probably) the favorite of the poly and he knows this, but doesn't brag
They all make breakfast together in the morning
If one of them is sick, the others will bring food and medicine to them while they're in quarantine
PV almost never gets sick, so sometimes he'll sit with the sick ancient and read or talk to them
If PV gets sick, the whole poly panics, because if he gets sick, the illness can be bad for him since he's not particularly good with his immune system
Give each other kisses RELIGIOUSLY
PV sometimes likes to give them kisses right after putting on lipstick so he can hear them fuss about makeup on their face (White Lily and Holly don't mind actually)
They all help PV with autism meltdowns via pressure therapy and kisses
When PV is angry, the other ancients just dip before he snaps (he never does)
Have very different music genera preferences so they always fight over the radio
Will bite each others head off if another eats all their snacks
Like to try each others region foods
Visit each other all the time
sorry i took so long to answer schools been kicking my ass but hi hello!! polyancients!!!
