years in planners
Found my old Hobonichi Techo and decided to scan my favourite pages from the last 3 years in planners. From my third year of uni till the last one, 2021-2023. Starting with my 2021 bullet journal and ending on this year’s planner/filofax

A review on Hobonichi Day Free after two years
What kind of planner do you use?
I started using the brand Hobonichi a few years ago. I liked the design and the tomoe river fountain paper they use in their planners. They have plenty of really nice covers and accessories which made it even more interesting. I’m not really the journal and decorative type person although I wish I could be! So I use planners for ‘to do lists’ and other random notes.
I actually first picked up the A6 techo original on sale a few years back but then decided it was too small and the daily pages weren’t for me as I left many pages blank. So I decided to give the A5 day free a try in 2020. It worked really well and I used it for notes and planning too.
This year though I left a lot more blank as I felt pretty lazy recording everything down and ended up using it more as a notebook rather than a planner. Due to this change, I felt that I wasted it and could have just bought a notebook instead of paying for the planner.
After two years I think it’s better just to buy a notebook as I found I didn’t really use the calendar that much in 2021. Some months I was a lot more organised and wrote things down and some months I wasn’t.
Tumblr media
I was thinking of going to the cousin avec with the daily pages but then I kept thinking if I would really use all the pages. I never thought of trying out the weeks version as I feel like it would be too small and I have pretty messy writing that is sometimes small or really large but this year I decided to try it.
I purchased one original weeks planner from the hobonichi website. There was a ‘Weeks Mega’ which has more pages at the back but thought I’d try the original first and also because the original version had a floral cover I liked. I was thinking of purchasing the weeks and a plain A5 notebook, if I needed a seperate book to write notes on but since I still have plenty of blank pages from the 2020 and 2021 day free I should just use the pages from them and not waste it. At one point I considered even purchasing the cousin and the weeks to see which one would suit me, but I’ll never be a seperate planner type of person! Also it seems like the milligram store in Melbourne stocks the notebooks, so if in the future I want one I could just buy it there.
One reason why I really didn’t want to switch to the weeks as I have two A5 covers which I really like but decided I could still store my A5 day frees in them I can still use at home for random notes.
Since shipping is quite costly to order from the hobonichi website I also added a couple more things like accessories. I also purchased a really cute cover for my weeks planner! I wasn’t sure if I should purchase locally on milligram as it works out to be quite similar if I was just purchasing the planner but milligram ended up selling out of the weeks planner I wanted so the hobonichi website it was. I actually only planned to buy the cousin avec but that didn’t work out and I spent a lot more. Nice designs and stationery are one of my weak spots ;_;.
So overall, after two years I don’t think the day free is for me and it’s probably better to just use a plain notebook. I will be trying the weeks for 2022, hopefully it suits my needs. I chose the weeks for 2022 because I found that I actually didn’t need that much space and I wanted a daily layout and the weeks version has a vertical daily layout which I like. Maybe if it doesn’t I will try the cousin avec next time.

Moleskine 2018 monthly planner
Tumblr media
The Moleskine, like the Uncalendar, is relatively unstructured. We were facing some technical issues which we are happy to let you know have now been cleared up. John left SOME space on the right for capturing notes, but at the bottom of the page he’s added a “Quick Hits” section for 5-minute work, 15-minute work, tasks for his Teaching Assistant, and space for parent phone calls (which he wants to prioritize). As you may have noticed myMoleskine challenges and activities were on hold for a bit and our journey together was momentarily interrupted. We all face a constant negotiation between time and to-do’s therefore we need to see them side-by-side! John drew a simple line down the weekly view to divide the two. Separated his Appointments from his To-Do’s. Moleskine - 18-Month Monthly Planner/Diary, Monthly Planner 2021/2022, Monthly Planner with Hard Cover and Elastic Closure, Size X-Large 19 x 25 cm, Colour Black, 128 Pages 4.3 out of 5 stars 44 £13.68 £ 13. Buy Moleskine item 8056420855937 to have a positive impact on our community of Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Business partners.John added a section on top to list his priorities for the week. I’ve always found it easy to be productive in the daily 9-5 job, but being entirely. I will transition from full-time employment to being entirely self-employed within the next few weeks. This year needs to be a very big year for me in terms of personal productivity. Added Priorities: Any planner is only as good as what you enter into it. Moleskine Weekly Planner vs Hobonichi Techo 2017 review. The Fix: John made a few awesome moves to turn this section of his Moleskine into a great teacher Weekly Worksheet. On the left-hand side, he has jury duty, a weekend in the Hamptons, a birthday and field days all listed! But what on earth to do with that second page on the right? It could very easily just become a mess of scribbles and scratches. But let’s look at a typical weekly view (or in Together Group parlance, a Weekly Worksheet): This one depends on which version of the Moleskine you pick (there are hundreds.there’s even a new Lego version!). Year 2018 November Planner - A monthly planner calendar for November 2018 on white. Gap #2: Need for Structure in the Weekly View. The Fix: Mike pasted the Together Teacher monthly calendar templates right into his Moleskine. This makes it hard to plan for weekends, school vacations and the like. While the Moleskine has a decent weekly view (more on that later), the annual/monthly view is in a list form. Gap #1: The Annual / Monthly View is Lacking. But hey, who said getting organized wasn’t a creative process! Mike John Warning: this involves scissors and glue. I recently met two teachers, Mike from NYC and John in Boston, who pumped up their Moleskines in some very cool ways. Rather than take it away, I simply want to ENHANCE your Moleskine around its gaps. Moleskines are sleek, professional-looking and often super-portable, depending on which size you purchase. I meet A LOT of teachers and leaders who are in VERY committed relationships with their Moleskine Notebooks.

Hobonichi 2022 Lineup
I think it isn’t wrong to claim that Christmas does start in September because I always feel that way whenever Hobonichi starts to put up their new releases on sale. Do you not feel the same? People who follow brand talk about the excitement and share the items they plan to get for the following year on social media, which isn’t really hard to miss. A few days after the first three days of…

I’ll be working in a Hobonichi cousin for 2021! I’m super excited, because I love the whole design of this planner and it just seems perfect because it’s like a pre filled out bullet journal tbh. I’m gonna be using my gullet journal as well though, for a more creative and scrapbooking type feel, especially since I plan to use the Hobonichi for productivity and the bujo for sort of memory keeping
As you can see, my resolutions are right there, and a lot, but don’t worry, I’ve set aside a top 3 as the ones that I actually really want and the rest are just bonuses!
My top 3 are:
1. Learn Russian
2. Pass Classes
3. Lose Weight (I need to to get top surgery as far as I know)

Hi!
Looking for recent NJPW match recommendations <3
My friend and I used to be avid fans but life and work have taken over since the pandemic so we are completely out of it, would love to watch some as we finally can hang out now!
Haven’t watched anything since Naito became double champion two years ago lol so there is a lot to choose from!
Thanks 🙏🏼
Ffffff holy shit ok lol. You are asking someone BIZARRELY well prepared for this question because, I have a Hobonichi Techo from last year and this one in which I make note of matches I particularly enjoy. So I’m just going to leaf through those for a second and list them (some are just throwaway undercard stuff that was fun, tag matches and the like...I can provide dates but probably didn’t always note events). Bear in mind that the dates are probably off by a day because it’s a Japanese book and with the time difference I get massively confused lol but it’s a ballpark to help search.
Hiromu vs Yano (New Japan Cup 2020...that one I remember lol)
I didn’t write this one down but related to above, Hiromu vs Ishii was also a banger, and Hiromu vs Okada
Tana/Kota/Wato vs Ishii/Goto/Tacos (I think the context was this was the ad hoc tournament for the NEVER 6 man after LIJ had to vacate Because EVIL)
NEVER 6 man tourney final: Tacos/Ishii/Goto vs Okada/Yano/Sho
Yano vs BUSHI, KOPW 2020
Ishii vs Suzuki (this is noted as being on the 19th of September but I dunno the context)
Tana vs Naito (Ok I think it was G1 and so was match before it and several to come)
Taichi vs Suzuki (I remember this was amazing)
Tacos vs EVIL (I should prolly point out at this time that ‘Tacos’ is YOSHI-HASHI in case that isn’t clear lol, also from G1)
Yano vs EVIL (g1)
KENTA vs ZSJ (G1 and I remember this was hilarious)
Tana vs Tacos (G1)
Taichi vs Ishii (G1)
Tana vs KENTA (G1)
Taichi vs Jay (G1)
There were three matches from this night: Tacos vs Goto, Yano vs ZSJ, and Tana vs EVIL
Ishii vs Jeff Cobb (still G1)
Tana vs SANADA (G1)
Tacos/Goto/Ishii vs Taichi/ZSJ/DOUKI (after G1, no idea of the context but maybe the NEVER challenge, which I remember fondly)
DOUKI vs Robbie Eagles (Pretty sure this was BOSJ)
Wato vs Desperado (BOSJ)
Tekkers (ZSJ/Taichi) vs Great O-Khan / Jeff Cobb (it was very funny)
Robbie Eagles vs Ishimori (BOSJ)
Hiromu vs Robbie (BOSJ)
3 for that day too...DOUKI vs BUSHI, Hiromu vs Taguchi & Robbie vs Despy
Hiromu vs Despy (context missing)
The last fave of the year was apparently...Yano vs Fale lol which I don’t even recall happening
2021:
Shingo vs Jeff (WK)
Fun undercard tag: Tana & Wato vs Shingo & BUSHI (context, Tana and Shingo were squaring up for the NEVER openweight, so all of these undercards building to that were fun)
Tana vs Shingo (NEVER Openweight, I think this was a New Beginning show but not sure)
GOD vs Tekkers and Hiromu vs Sho are both listed here but without context
Tana vs O-Khan (not their WK match, this was much stronger but they’ve only had two so it should be easy to find, 28th of Feb)
Jeff vs Kojima...I don’t remember it at all but I bet it was great
Tana vs Jay (marked at march 15)
KENTA vs Tacos (april 19)
Tacos/Goto/Ishii vs KENTA/Ishimori/Yujiro (this must have been a 6 man defense...just watch all of my CHAOS boys defenses, they’ve all been amazing)
Yano vs EVIL (KOPW trophy, march 28)
GOD vs Tekkers again (feat. Miho! I think this was June 1)
Tana vs Uemura (one of his singles gauntlet matches, June 7)
Shingo vs Wato (random, but july 8th)
Taichi/ZSJ/Suzuki vs Naito/SANADA/BUSHI (no idea, july 17)
SANADA vs ZSJ and Naito vs Taichi, both from july 22)
Tana vs KENTA, july 24
Tana vs Shingo, july 25th Tokyo Dome, I cannot recommend this highly enough, it will probably be my match of the year
That’s the list so far...I hope some of it is to your liking :D
*some additions: the whole Tekkers/GOD feud was very interesting and fun but I’d skip Golden Ace/Tekkers because I found it so hard to get through I was actually drinking by the end.  Also the 4 way to determine the first KOPW champion was ridiculous and fun iirc, it was at the baseball stadium show last year...summer struggle? Maybe?  Anyway ymmv wrt to like, Kota matches, because honestly a lot of the decisions they made with him = I have basically not watched one of his in over a year, and I’ve been sleepwalking through the matches for that bastard frankenstein title that killed the ones I loved as well 😩

February Cover for A6 Hobonichi Techo 2021 Planner / To All The Boys I've Loved Before
I absolutely LOVE Jenny Han's "To All The Boys I've Loved" book series and I'm a fan of the movies on Netflix. I thought since the final movie (SOB!) premiers this month, "To All The Boys I've Loved" would be the PERFECT theme for my February cover.

Im trying to be an adult since I’m 20 now and shit but I cannot organize my life and I don’t know what to do. I tried my phone for reminders but I dismiss them and forget shit anyway. I will never leave my parents’ house at this rate.
Wow this just opened me up to discuss my second favorite stupid topic (next to my pens!) - my babies.
Tumblr media
This is how I keep my life together. Travelers notebooks! I don’t go overboard with them like the planner people on YouTube and Instagram with all the decorations and stuff (I say as you see my charm and charmy bookmark on the purple one), but these babies are a godsend. (And isn’t my mask for today just so cute? 😁)
So my brown one is a passport-size from Speckled Fawn - in that one I use Moleskine 3.5” x 5.5” (I think!) notebooks. That one keeps track of my finances (One for bills. One for food. Etc.) and I have one for random notes and stuff.
The purple one is an A6 size from Foxy Fix. That one has my calendars in it. Right now I have my Hobonichi Techo (that wide one in there) for next year because I’m getting it ready, so there’s another notebook in there that I draw out my weekly calendars out on Sundays until I get this Hobonichi finished and can put the other one for this year back in (there’s a method to my madness).
You may not need all of the crap. Maybe you can organize better than me 🙃 but that Hobonichi is the best thing - the paper is so nice and smooth and thin. They’re a bit pricey, but I use that as motivation to actually use it and not discard it if I get bored. I got mine from Jet Pens dot com. (They have other sizes too.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it has the monthly calendars then a page for each day. (I can’t show the blank monthly because I already started getting it ready for 2021 because that’s just how I am. Can’t wait to get my stickers so I can make it all fun 🤩) But I use the daily pages to keep track of my sleep, my water intake, things I need to get done, etc. I even add the weather forecast. I set the daily pages up on Sunday nights. And before I go to bed I’ll jot down a few thoughts on the day.
All in all, I did all of that rambling just to suggest that you can try out different systems. Some people swear by bullet journals. They’re fun but I found them to be tedious and time consuming and if I couldn’t get the layouts perfect it would frustrate me. Some people just use regular planners already made out for them. I could never use my phone for organizing either because of the same issues as you. Try a few out. You never know. Good luck ♥️
