One of the last places you might expect to find an American-style Wild West theme park is in the middle of a Swedish forest, yet High Chaparral and its second life as a refugee camp feels strangely appropriate. With so much immigration in a short amount of time, Sweden has had a lot of logistics to work out — like where to put them all. When asked about his decision to allow his theme park to become a camp while closed for the winter, Emil Erlandsson said that he knew his grandfather would’ve done the same. “He built this place with the philosophy of the American settlers.” While many refugees take shelter in tents and athletic stadiums, this bizarre and unexpected American West setting in the middle of a Swedish forest in the middle of winter has become one of the better refugee camps in Sweden. And for 500 refugees, one of the most unique camps in the world, and a safe place far away from home.

Everyone who loves The Daltons should follow highchaparralsweden on Instagram. It’s a Wild West theme park in south Sweden with a few known Wild West characters, among them Lucky Luke and the Dalton family. There are a few really funny Dalton-sketches there (although in Swedish. Sorry to everyone who don’t know Swedish, but they are probably funny anyway).

I was there a few years ago and had a blast! I met Luke and the Daltons and I gave Averell a sweet! The best thing tho was overhearing a few kids trying to explain to Joe what TikTok was and Joe misunderstanding them the whole time

Sorry I diden't write anything yesterday, but I don't remember what I did yesterday. On the other hand, I do remember what I did today tho. Today we went on an other family adventure. An amusement park called High Chaparral. It's just the Wild West theme of the whole park. As soon as you step inside their doors, it feels like a time machine.

However, it is difficult to see the differens between those who work there and those who don't. Ordinary people do like to dress up like Cowboys as well. To be completely honest, is this not my cup of tea, it's more fun for the children. The only fun thing I did was to eat churros and pet the horses.

I am very proud of myself that I have managed to follow true these two adventures. It really is outside my comfort zone but I managed it after all. 🤠
