thinking about the way that netflix ended things, alina and mal don’t end up together. after everything they fought through, it only served to draw them apart. it wasn’t enough. they didn’t meet each other again in the meadow. they didn’t live a life full of ordinary things. now, they’re little more than strangers to each other. not soulmates.

thinking about the way matthias doesn’t know why nina got him arrested. thinking about the way nina couldn’t save him. she spent the entirety of season 2 working toward him, only to be ripped back apart in the end. twin souls split forevermore.

Haven't quite finished s2 yet. Overall really enjoying it, however not a big fan of the fast burn wesper.

All of their scenes in the book? Gone lol. No pining or emotional moments. No 'just girls?' or really any of their meaningful or iconic scenes from the books. I get that it's a different kind of adaptation and they can't add everything, but some would have been nice.

How come the other couples get their slow burn pining but not them??

SAB S2 thoughts (more on the Crows)

Honestly I don't mind that they diverted from the books. I didn't have a problem with it in S1. I'm just so annoyed about how they went about revealing basically all the major points right off the bat. Like I expected Jordie but within the first 20 mins??? when the best part about that in the books was the mystery of it??? the build up??? I would've preferred it if the flashbacks scenes were saved for the big confrontation between Pekka and Kaz. It would've made the reveal of his past more impactful. Also, Kaz announcing right off the bat how he knew Jesper was a Durast??? That too was a major moment saved for a crucial time but they just threw it out there. Like he could've just thrown the coin at Jesper and did his "i know your secret" stare. Show Don't Tell people.

What saved this show for me were the Crows, ESPECIALLY the ships. I loved how they went about Wesper. The tension and the banter were immaculate. Also, them meeting via one night stand and Wylan having left first??? Iconic. I'm tired of the uwu soft boy image yall put on him.

Helnik??? Everything from the chemistry, to the angst, to the SEXINESS, they all gave. I'm glad they didn't rush their relationship. The Ice Court job was the best part of their story. Also, those dreams??? Matthias Helvar you poor, starved man. Got me fanning my face and all.

And of course, our parents, our King and Queen, Kanej. Fuck and here I thought they couldn't get anymore ANGSTIER. Like amped up to 1000%. It wasn't as slow burn as the books but the show gave them more material, more conflict, more LONGING and I'm eating all of it up.

In conclusion, the Crows are the only reason I sat through that show. Issues with the plot aside, the cast's chemistry and acting saved it. S1's pacing was much better but ig they had to rush it for fear of cancellation idk.
