Heceta Head lighthouse on the Oregon coast. Very scenic highway and one of the most beautiful of the coastlines on the west coast. Beyond the bluff to the north there is a state park and wonderful beach for picnicking.

Pronounced “Ha – SEE – Ta” by most, “HECK – ah – Ta” by others, yet everyone agrees Heceta Head is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world. The Heceta Head Lighthouse and Light Keeper’s home are circa 1894. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

My contribution, with photo taken more than 50 years ago, to the large collection of what is probably the second most photographed site on the Oregon Coast. The most photographed is undoubtedly Haystack Rock at Canon Beach.
