#OTD in 1920 – IRA 3rd Cork Brigade personnel attacked a lorry carrying British troops from the Essex Regiment at the Toureen Ambush, on the road between Bandon and Cork.

Up until the ambush the 3rd West Cork Brigade Flying Column had not before engaged the British troops stationed in Co Cork in a proper battle. The Brigade had finished its training and to get it ready for combat it had to get in an engagement with the British soldiers. It was written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore. The lyrics were inspired by a book of Elizabethan poems kept by her uncle, the legendary A.P. Carter. June's sister Anita Carter recorded a version of it, which didn’t ignite the charts) before Johnny Cash took a casual interest in it. Then he had a compelling dream about going to Heaven and hearing “Mexican horns” at St. Peter’s Gate, and the “Ring of Fire” song was playing. So he daringly recorded it with mariachi horns and it was a big hit. His children are protective of their father’s legacy as, in 2004, they declined an offer to license the song to Preparation H for advertising (no joke). This video (taken by Uma Robin Mackey) was an off-the-cuff busking event in Bandon, Oregon (9/3/22). A global color cast on your landscape photo is often an easy fix with a curves adjustments. Especially when the color of the cast is a red/cyan, green/magenta, or blue/yellow. Why is curves the right choice for these tones? The individual color curves target these tones.

And for green/magenta, why use curves instead of tint? Extra control. Tint affects all the tones in your image. With curves, you can protect different tonal regions.
