Galladrabbles: Room for More
Thank you to @dynamic-power for this lovely @galladrabbles prompt! Here's my humble offering of some S1 babies.
----
"Gonna pay for that?"
Something undefinable flashes across Mickey's face before he snorts, smirk not quite reaching his eyes. "Think y'know the answer to that, Gallagher."
The sound of his surname cuts deeper than Mickey continuously complicating his job over silly snacks like-
Ian's heart sinks at the essentials stacked inside the box: milk, canned goods, fuckin' tampons for Mandy. At the energy bars bulging from his non-boyfriend's pockets that he'll undoubtedly scarf down in secret later, yet still have room for more.
He waits for Mickey to leave before fishing out a twenty and placing it inside the register.

i, for one, love every post and headcanon i see about mickey wearing a little chain, a little necklace with an "I" charm on it, or some variation of this, but... let me flip it for a minute.
stay with me here.
ian wearing a thin gold chain with a small, circle shaped pendant on the end with the letter M engraved into it. mickey gave it to him last christmas, and even though he felt absolutely ridiculous even thinking about giving it to him, let alone going into a store and actually purchasing it with real money, ian's reaction when he opened the little velvet box was worth it. mickey helped him put it on that morning, and ian hasn't taken it off since.
he sleeps with it on, showers with it on, works out in the gym and does laps in the pool with it on. half the time ian forgets it's there, this lightweight gold chain he barely even feels, and the other half of the time he toys with the pendant, sliding it back and forth, making sure it lays flat on his chest, M side up. people ask him about it all the time, confused because neither Ian nor Gallagher start with the letter M, and ian beams at every chance he gets to talk about his husband.
someone asked him once if it was some kind of power play for mickey, pseudo-branding ian with his initial sitting between his husband's collarbones. ian laughed him off, rolled his eyes at the use of branding, and told him in great detail about the full name tattoo etched into mickey's chest.
ian doesn't care about that shit. he'd get mickey's full government name tattooed onto his forehead if he didn't think his husband would murder him for it. he's down that bad for him. ten years later and he still feels like he's fifteen some days, with butterflies in his stomach and too many emotions in the space between his ribs. he loves mickey, and he wants the whole world to know.
so, the wedding ring and the M necklace will have to do. for now.

EASILY the most heart-wrenching thing about later seasons Gallavich is how openly Mickey smiles when he looks at Ian. ESPECIALLY in public places

maybe this is just me but a part of the reason i don’t want them to sell the house is because i genuinely don’t think that liam should be living with lip

Don't you guys think it's fucked up when Fiona starts dating and sleeping out of the house, leaving Debbie, Carl and Liam kind of for themselves?
Once she started dating Mike she would sleep at his place sometimes which I think it's okay, she was paying the bills and would leave dinner ready and communicate Debs and she was still looking out for them, they had health care and she took them to the clinic and all that. She needs to take care of her, live a life, sleep at her boyfriend sometimes, that's fine and healthy. But then she marry Gus and is often out of there, get together with Sean and doesn't even know what's going on with them anymore (aka "why there's nothing to eat in the fridge" "cause no one is doing the shopping" dialogue with Debbie, not knowing when it's their first day at school, letting Sammy move in and run things after her trailer got fucked by Frank), and then she gets her apartment and moves out completely and like, okay, Ian was a EMT, Lip is a mechanic already I think, she did said she wasn't going to support Debbie after her pregnancy (fucked me thinks), Carl's at military school, but Liam is still a kid! And Debs and Carl are still underage! And they are her responsibility.
It just doesn't sit right with me that Liam didn't at least moved with her.
Specifically Fiona defenders, I would love to hear more about it.
#i could he talking a lot of shit cause i only watched s6 and ahead once and it was some months ago but#i dont think im wrong. i dont there was any sort of explanation or reason or anything like that#she straight up left all behind to start fresh with her apartment her money her expensive chair didnt she#and i want fiona to grow! to do her stuff! to be only a sister to her siblings and not their mom! but she is their legal guardian#yes lip and ian definitely has to help family now. she didnt had to raise them the way she did until s3 but she did and they own her big#at least i think they do. she sacrificed herself out of love for them. made them go to school. gave them a life and some sort of stability#so now its their time to take up the responsibility with her. but thats it. with her. she dont get to abandon them.#mostly cause she is their legal guardian yk. and it was very strictly imposed and explained s3 its from here on until theyre ALL 18#and i somewhat think its okay for her to want liam to be in chicago when she left. she gave them money and he had there more stability#like she had no job yet no place to live he wouldnt have any family around to support him he would have to move to another school is a lot!#but to not make this move legally? to i dont know transfer him to lip or something? to not call and get to know how hes doing?#to not send liam $ once she gets a job or a share of her 50k every month? to not offer him to move with her once she gets her shit together#i dont like it. actually i hate it.#shameless#shameless us#fiona gallagher#og.#s9

Any thoughts on how sympathetic Lear should come off in performances? I've seen shows that really lean into his arrogance, and shows that lean into him being wise but for his one mistake. Of course his tragedy is inevitable, but should it feel deserved?
I personally feel scant pity for him, but a lot of that is just anti-father and anti-monarch bias. I understand that there are storytelling advantages to realizing him fully as the sad old father, deserving of pity.
I read a review of a recent performance that criticized how they portrayed him as too brash and arrogant. They noted the quote "How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is to have a thankless child" and how it lost its impact with their portrayal of Lear. But sometimes I think performances feel a little too nice to the old bastard!
Just curious your thoughts. If you don't think it's an engaging question, feel free to ignore.
lmfao “too arrogant”??? have they not read the play???? frankly i think lear should be a combination of wretched, loathsome, and pitiful. you should feel sympathy for his suffering, but never feel like regan and goneril are at fault for that suffering. you must both acknowledge that his tragedy was ultimately his own doing, while nonetheless feeling a pang of grief over his abjection. the “filial ingratitude” lines aren’t meant to read as a critique of rotten offspring, but rather to reflect poorly on him for never giving his daughters enough affection to warrant their genuine care, which is evident by the fact that the daughter with whom he is the most affectionate also does care the most, but he throws her aside like garbage when she refuses to glibly flatter him. he is brash, he is arrogant, he is sitting atop a hollow world and suffering the consequences of testing his limits, applying too much weight so that it all comes crashing down. if lear is presented as wise, as heroic, as being in the right, then the teleological aim of the play, its nihilist politics, is entirely undermined. imo, the only truly wise characters are edgar and kent (albany is…. complicated), and no sister is beyond reproach, but they all must also be recognized as victims of a patriarchal order, forced to adhere to a mercurial and cruel patriarch. if a production has more sympathy for lear than it does for goneril (yes, i said goneril!) then it is a failed production. if it has more sympathy for gloucester than edmund, it is a failed production. that said, our hearts must nevertheless break for lear and gloucester. the play is a critique of patriarchy, of sovereignty, of order. and yet it also demands that we recognize the fragile humanity of these patriarchal sovereigns who cling to an arbitrary and unjust order. so he deserves our pity, surely. but he also demands our criticism.

galladrabbles
it's @galladrabbles time again! @look-i-love-u gave us such an interesting and beautiful prompt and it took me some time to decide what to make of it. but now inspiration has struck me and i've decided it looks like the creation of a future artistic prodigy named something-something gallagher-milkovich.
“What the–?” Mickey asks. On the floor sits his son, painting the kitchen cabinets. He has created a fascinating pattern–blues, yellows and reds swirling together.
“Look dad, ‘m painting,” he explains, chubby cheeks covered in all colors of the rainbow.
Mickey sighs, then lets out the disbelieving laugh he was trying to hold in. “Sure are, bud. Don’t cha have a coloring book for that, though?”
He thinks back to his childhood and considers what would’ve happened had he done this. Abruptly, he's overcome by a familiar sadness. He’s different, he assures himself. And he’s fucking proud of that.

Mimic is Whisper's nemesis. Yes he has duked it out with Tangle before, and yes he is responsible for Silver getting his fee-fees hurt. But he murdered Whisper's team, has tried to hunt her down and kill her multiple times, tried to kill her new friends, taunted her about his past murders, and is really only here now because he STILL wants her dead. He has ruined her life, taunted her about it, and made attempts to ruin whatever life she tries to build from the wreckage. No beef anyone else has with him comes close. If Mimic dies (or is otherwise defeated) by anyone's hand, it NEEDS to be Whisper's. End of discussion.

One of the most unrealistic things about Teen Wolf that bothers the fuck out of me is how Chris Argent

“Do you seriously not know what today is?”
“I don’t know Thursday.”
“The 21st. Doesn’t ring any bells to you.”
“No. Should it?”
“It’s our wedding anniversary.”
“Ahh. No shit.”
“A year ago today.”
“Hey man that’s great. Come on, I’m thirsty.”
“Surprise! Speech!”
“I love this man.”

Possibly one of my favorite shots from the show, I absolutely love this shot of Ian and Mickeys hands during their wedding and thought it was perfect to add in as an art piece for the Galladrabbles Anniversary. 💕

After his talk with Cal he knew he needed to have a talk with Ian. It was likely his brother had overheard some of what he and Cal talked about. Ian always had a way of overhearing stuff. Mac could never figure out how. If it was just Patty and the younger kids he’d have dismissed it as Ian just being sneaky. But Mac had been around for Ian’s entire life, obviously he did’t remember all of it being too young himself, but Ian hearing things he should’t had been something that went back as far as he remembered. There was something there, Mac just didn’t know what. He decided that some people just had things they were good at without trying. After all Cal had been a whiz on a broom the moment he’d first hopped on one, thankfully for all of them but especially for Cal since it kept him out of jail or worse Azkaban. Ian’s seemed to be hearing. Mac had figured out he didn’t really have anything like that early. Which given how many headaches Ian got, might be a lucky thing. Regardless of what the cause was, Ian had probably overheard something. Possibly enough to be worried. Especially because it had been Ian watching the kids when Mac went out to do ‘errands' for Dumbledore. Ian who caught Mac sneaking back in after Order missions. Mac always made sure to get cleaned up real well, even keeping a spare set of clothes so he could change if needed. But he was still sneaking in at odd hours of the night. Dumbledore had been just as much their secret as it was Mac’s. He needed to make sure Ian was okay.
Ian was nowhere to be found. Mac normally knew his work schedules but sometimes Ian would take extra shifts and forget to mention it. Or not have the chance. When he couldn’t find Ian and saw that his bike was also missing he figured that must be what had happened. Ian had gone to work. So he didn’t worry, too much. Had it not rained he might have swung by to make sure Ian was working. Just to check and see if he was okay. After all he’d have the excuse of being out looking for rich blokes behaving badly. But rain and cameras didn’t mix and Mac hadn’t learned any charms that would be useful to keep his camera dry. Besides rich blokes usually behaved the worse when the weather was somewhat decent. Even they didn’t like to be out in stuff like this. When Mac heard Ian moving around in his room later that night he figured Ian must have been working a shift at the bar. Since it was late he decided to wait and talk to Ian the next day. The next morning was chaos. Cal had beaten Ian to making coffee but his older brother looked distracted and Mac guiltily felt it was his fault and not Cal’s upcoming game. He didn’t have time to say anything thanks to Patty and the kids all coming in around the same time. Patty intent on making as much chaos as she could probably because she knew Cal had a match. Ian’s absence in the chaos was noticed but Mac had his hands full trying get everyone fed and ready for the match so Cal didn’t have to do it alone. By the time Patty had gotten disinterested and left to go to ‘work’ there wasn’t much time to finish up and get everyone to the match on time. Al stopped by like he did most game mornings to see if they needed help getting to the match. Cal left shortly after, leaving Mac to get everyone ready. Normally Mac wouldn’t have asked Al to take the younger kids without him or Ian there, it was an imposition he hated to ask. But Ian had still not come out and Mac hadn’t had a chance to check in with him. Either Ian had a headache or he was avoiding Mac, ether way Mac needed to know before the match. Once Al left with the kids Mac headed to Ian’s room only to find Ian not there. Which had to mean that Ian was avoiding him. Instead of waiting for him to get home Mac headed out to see if he could find his brother.
