im thinking about possession aftereffects that linebeck experiences immediately after the events of phantom hourglass, so here are bullet points i have down for my own ideas

he’s out cold for roughly five days after the fight. he’s conscious for a bit after being freed, but it doesn’t take long for him to collapse once he’s transported back to the great sea. link finds him when he reaches his ship to see him again (he takes a lifeboat or w/e from tetras ship its a whole thing and not the point) and ends up having to take care of him for those five-ish days.

while he’s out cold, he develops a bad fever, and has a good few physical injures from being possessed; all of his wounds from being possessed manifest as burns, the worst wounds bring cauterized and mostly closed, while smaller ones are still open wounds. the largest wound is a large burn covering most of his back, which is cauterized by the time he passes out, and then there are smaller, still open burns on his upper arms and legs. (the smaller wounds are manageable by link when he follows some medical instructions, [there are some medical books on the ship] the larger one is also manageable, but takes a lot longer to properly heal).

(link asks tetra and her crew to stick around for a while to keep linebeck stabilized while he’s unconscious. when linebeck wakes up, tetra and her crew are good to leave because then linebeck can better report what’s going on, and knows how to handle injuries).

linebeck’s fever persists after he wakes up, and he experiences… pretty much every fever symptom, with especially bad chills and full-body aches. the aches are really bad for the first few days after he wakes up, he’s extremely physically weak and shaky for a while, too. that weakness and shakiness get better with time, but he doesnt go entirely back to normal without actually moving around and doing things to build that strength back up.

he’s delirious and struggles to stay awake for those first few conscious days, too, which makes that weakness and shakiness worse; he struggles to eat and drink water, and struggles to string together thoughts or words to talk to link, and both of them figure out pretty quickly that they’ll have to wait a bit longer before so much as an attempt to coax him out of bed can be made.

beyond existing problems with food, linebeck struggles to keep anything down while he recovers, and becomes ill pretty much every time after he eats anything, so a bucket is kept near his bed. with water, he obviously needs to drink a lot of it considering that he’s feverish, injured, and vomiting frequently, but while he’s sick he has a bit of an irrational fear of water (along with an irrational fear of air and the wind, which makes him hesitant to go outside while he’s sick).

he’s generally pretty irritable, which isn’t particularly new, but it makes him prone to refusing help with certain things. he’s less irritable when tired and just resting. he’s also especially nervous, and despite the overall fatigue, he struggles to sleep for very long while he’s sick, and as said before, is often delirious and even confused when things are bad.

along with the other difficulties eating, linebeck has a hard time swallowing for a bit, and salivates a lot more than normal while he’s sick. he is soooo fucking dehydrated the whole time and that really doesn’t help.

while the weakness and shakiness stays for the entire time he’s sick and even a bit afterwards, for the first few days after he wakes up he’s stiff and also experiences some muscle spasms and numbness in his limbs, and has a hard time keeping his balance the first few times he gets out of bed.

once the sickness clears up fully, linebeck has to still be careful with the scar on his back; it’s sensitive to touch for a while and hurts when exposed to the sun or air for too long and when he stretches his back too far, but eventually just reaches the point where it’s a bit sensitive but is otherwise just a large scar.

obviously he’s also going through the wringer in an emotional and mental illness sense too but those would require a whole new bullet point list.

Hundreds--erm-- Thousands probably. It's something he's not proud of really.

Vampires are basically the zombies in this au, but they get power ups because of course they do.

You become a vampire by getting their blood in your system in one way or the other lol (ik its like soo demon slayer but like pls its a good concept okeh--) kinda like rabies but with extra steps. Those who got blood from Wally, himself, are completely feral. If someone gets blood from those feral vampires then they're a weaker and less insane vampire. Basically the farther from the source (Wally) the less potent.

At present, there's lesser feral vampires, after being hunted down and Wally not turning new peeps into vampires. Feral vampires are still pretty dangerous tho, due to the unpredictability.

There are some special cases though where vampires that were once feral and eventually managed to become more sane, so theres that. Theyre pretty rare though. It's a little idea inspired by a chat I had with @ketho484 about dhampirs :DD

im super interested in alastor’s and niffty’s dynamic in this au!! im not really sure how to word this question but do you have anything youve been thinking about with them, outside of him just being very protective/possessive over her, and her still being fairly loyal to him? any headcanons or ideas you have for the two of them?

Alastor has two whole friends before the events of canon, Mimzy and Nifty. Even though he'll never admit it, he desperately needs both of them.

I've gone into his relationship with Mimzy before, but she basically acts as the only person Alastor can really let loose around. Alastor only really has some genuine fun when Mimzy's around.

When it comes to Nifty, she's the closest thing Alastor has to family on this side of the mortal plane. Nifty is the first soul Alastor owned, and it was honestly a pretty painless affair. At the time, Nifty's ex-husband had still been alive in hell, and Alastor promised to keep her safe in exchange for her soul. The ex-husband has long since been dealt with, but Nifty has no complaints about Alastor still holding her soul. She once jokingly told him that it was likely in safer hands now.

here's some fun stuff about these two!

Alastor cooks, and Nifty bakes. Nifty is the only one who's allowed to go in and out of the kitchen with no complaints from Alastor, and they can spend hours there together, singing along to classic jazz from the radio.

Alastor is not allowed to just say whatever he wants on his radio show, since it's now a part of the Jackpot Casino. That means he has a lot of opinions built up that he's not allowed to share. If he's not yelling these opinions at Husk, he's passionately sharing them with Nifty. She thinks they're funny. Sometimes, she'll bargain with him. He'll be allowed to rant for an hour, and then she'll get an hour to read her latest fanfiction out loud. Only her sfw stuff tho, obviously. (She reads him found family fic as a not-so-subtle-hint of how she feels about him. It goes right over his head.)

Nifty and Alastor play a weird version of fuck/marry/kill when they have the same shifts at the casino. Nifty points out the people she'd fuck/marry, and Alastor points out the people he'd kill. It's fun, I guess.

Nifty really really wants them to get a pet. Alastor banned any discussion of dogs, and Nifty's slightly allergic to cats. She has a list she's been secretly making of animals she thinks Alastor would like. It goes as follows:

Possum: eats bugs. Frog: no fur, not dirty (?) eats bugs. Alligator: Alastor has an alligator skull. Might like them. Bat: eats bugs. Con: Might have rabies? Deer: Maybe some form of kinship. Pig: Actually pretty clean. Makes funny noises. Anteater: eats bugs.

Alastor loves collecting trinkets, which actually annoys Nifty to no end bc it means his room isn't clean/organized. He apologizes by bringing back little gifts whenever he goes out. He also keeps his collections away from areas Nifty frequents so it doesn't bother her as much.

Alastor has banned Nifty from gambling at the casino. The one time she tried, she lost almot 500,000 dollars in one night. Even Husk was horrified.

They're both a bit mad, but they like it that way. Nifty's one of the only people around who doesn't want Alastor to change. Whether or not that's a good thing ... ehhh who knows. But it's priceless to him.

-Cana has started taking bets on who will be the next master. Makarov actually enjoys it and uses it to see who the rest of the guild thinks should be the new leader. Laxus currently has the most votes

-Instead of sending a text or announcing themselves in anyway, Fairy Tail members will often be found just hanging out in other guilds. Gray finishes a job near Lamia Scale and decides to take a lunch break in Lyon's room. Sting heads to the Sabertooth guild hall early one morning, Natsu is sleeping on a bench inside already.

(i love playing with various branches of scarebat inside my head. even if it's one-note idea. but in this current bit, i was thinking about a core view on certain things, that most of their versions have in common. mainly the difference between jon's n' bruce's outlooks on how they picture 'ideal' encounter between one another. or more so, what the best outcome of it might be. what their 'great end game might look like.

bruce *for the most part* wants to believe in reabilitation. in a change for the better. it's possible to tame n' domesticate a wild crow. it might not change its habbits fully, but it's possible to make the bird less harmful *to smaller animals as they do feed on them* by keeping it happy and fed. by nurturing it into state, where it'll be mostly comfy with getting food by less extreme means. n' where it might trust you to not to harm it or stop giving it food. while, i view this set-up from a perspective of a shipper, i also can see gen approach here as well. mostly, bc i don't think that bruce would have ever left any of his *potentially ex* rogues fully unsurpivised. esp someone with history like crane's. batman is too much of a control freak to not peak into his villain's personal affairs, even if just to make sure, that they haven't went back to crime. him befriending / having a chance to impose influence on a troubled, malevolent 'crow via smth other, than use of force would have been a nice change of pace. batman is pragmatic, but i love how he doesn't ever fully dismiss the idea of 'what if', n' desire to see his rogues improving themselves. but at the same time, usually, he's the one who puts said crow back into cage *arkham*, so there is that too. he wants to do the right thing, but the bird keeps glaring at him through the narrow bars, bc it doesn't get why must it be caged for hurting n' killing other animals, when they *totally* picked on it first.

now, jon would have almost an oposite view of this, i imagine. where bruce can picture a second variant, another *brighter* path, crane kinda just cannot do the same. from his pov, there is no way for batman to ever become a villain. somebody who would team up with him. so they can't be 'together' this way. there is also no way for crane to ever get onto batman's level. esp bc he doesn't want *can't* change this drastically. therefore, the only way to keep the bat in his possession is to lock it up, trap it n' hold it in a little metalic box. hide it inside his basement, bc so many other people would love to have the bat too. he doesn't want to clip its wings, but part of him is paranoid enough to consider it. he has no idea how else to make a wild bat stay. it doesn't listen to him, like his birds do. but crane will take good care of it, anyway. make it dependent on him. caged by him, n' no one else can steal it away this time.

maybe, this reads as gibberish to some, but i really love how both bruce n' jonathan have animal analog / name in their aliases. bruce's is more apperent, bc well, batman lol. he even dress up as this. crane's case is more subtitle, but still, the scarecrow. even if he supposed to scare said birds away, he keeps them as pets as offten as we see bats hanging inside bruce's herocave lol. those animals also suit their personalities to a degree. the only other animal, that i can see crane as be a possum lol. sharp teeth, always hissing, long rat tail, but despite the ragged apperance, they are the only mamal that cannot get rabies bc of their body temperature, even tho by looking at it, you'd think that it surely would have that disease, haha. that's kinda very crane. he tends to subvert expectations, but in a strange ways.

an' well, where bruce can step down to extremes, n' i don't mean putting crane's scawny ass back into asylum, i mean also consider other methods of keeping him declawed. including trapping him inside his cave / basement. still, i feel like for jon's those said extremes are default line of thinking. socially inept, distrustful n' lonely, it would make sense for him to assume, that he can only co-exist with batman, if he will lock him up n' be the only one, who has a key to his prison. generally, it always seems that while jon's views on things n' his way of persiving / feeling affection are twisted, it's also pretty sad too. technically, he doesn't have any frame of referance here. of affection, that is returned n' not played as a joke at his expense. an' being humilated by the bat in such manner would sting way harder, than his high school crush rejecting him. he'd also would have that yandere u-turn. but not in like 'if i can't have you none one has'. more like 'i really want to have you, so i'd do every terrible thing in the book to make it possible'. well, almost 'every'. i feel like there be things, that jonathan *most versions of him, anyways* just kinda won't do. he does have some class, after all.

overall tho, i do love jon as that needy 'creep' archetype *which is pretty much a canon in old comics too*, who would kidnap / do awful things to a guy he likes, simply bc he has no idea what else he can do with him. at most times, he's that meme of 'idk how to hit on him, so he has to die'. meanwhile, bruce thinks that if you feed a stray bird enough, it might consider staying or well, not being as troublesome as it usually is.

in some timelines, this even might work out, who knows.

less so jonathan's side of things, since i feel like he would end up screwing his own plan over. i even have a lil drafty thing for a fic with similar premise, but it's for some other time. atm. just lil art, while i'm working on bigger things, haha. gotta store all these bits / concepts somewhere, so that i don't forget that they exist.)

When she was younger she was kinda the older sister to the other kids there, like she would pickpocket some extras for them or find some sort of shelter and stay outside if there wasn't enough room for everyone.

Agent Geetha is the one she considers a mother bc shes the one that would actually primarily take care of her when she was a baby

When she grows up she actually goes through such a terrible incident on a mission that makes her lose her arm, but she refused to get a prosthetic bc she didn't want to look anything more like djin

like moon, she had strenuous nightmares for months and didn't sleep an entire night once after the incident in s2, and when they finally subsided, after season 3 it all started again

when she's older she actually quits being an agent, but doesn't leave MATA until shes much older, like around 30, and till then she's a CSI for them and still tags along on certain missions but not as common now.

I like to think Geetha adopted her after some years when they got much closer. Sometimes rudy would ask to sleep in her room when shes having a nightmare or something like that.

speaking of which, She calls her Ama or Ami (since Geethas desi in canon I want to think she prefers being called mom in Urdu)

rudy did kind of. like still not completely trust geetha even after she adopted her, but it got much better later when rudy would get really sick and geetha wouldn't stop helping her and she like wouldn't leave her side like she slept in a chair next to her as she was sick.

I do adore the hc we have of Geetha and dos being rudys moms, but i am also loving the hc of like. rudy finds out shes techinically Dos's "daughter" (bc of the whole clone thing) and her kind of realizing that geetha is so much more of a mother to her than dos can ever be and thats also what strengthens their bond.

After she saw alicia crying after Zain died, they always kept an eye on each other. like alicia and geetha are really the only ppl she'd cry in front of.

when she found out dos almost killed alicia she kind of cried there too. because what if she did actually die she wouldn't have met either of them.

after djin died she did actually attempt, but it didn't work and had to see a MATA specialized therapist.

Stolas & Stella confronting each other be like:

Ice King Andrealphus being the third fucking wheel, questioning why he even showed up, but staying for the literal tea

Stolas & Stella obviously hated each other from the get go, so yeah, he didn't betray no one (except maybe his daughter's trust)

COWBOY DADDY STRIKER STRIKES BACK!!! Still sad that Norman Reedus didn't return to voice him, but I kinda already had a feeling that he wouldn't return cuz 1) We didn't get to hear Striker in the S2 Trailer & I think it was confirmed that most of the cast had finished recording their lines for this season over a year ago and 2) It's understandable bc he's a busy man in the acting industry!

And besides, Ed's an awesome VA (especially with all the characters he's voiced so far in the Hellaverse), so I didn't really mind the recast!

yessss you understand me exactly omg! i'm not calling him a good guy or trying to defend him. he knew what he was doing! he caused those deaths! but as you said, the "Not because he takes some sadistic joy in seeing these people get erased, but because it gets him closer to his goal and he just doesn't care who might end up dying for his cause. i do think we at least somewhat know his motives tho, especially in the anime where he's more explicit about complaining about the homogenization fo the UG and mr. h's comments about him being attached to shibuya

but i agree. in the show he might as well he doing it for rabies. he likes seeing pain and suffering. in the game he has 0 problems CAUSING pain and suffering but he isn't doing it BECAUSE of the pain and suffering, but because he's FINE with causing it if it gets to his goal. and that's just a way cooler character space to be in (and makes his NEO self more understandable as to where he comes from as opposed to a 180 on his character or forcing him to take brain damage or whatever)

That's true!! Annoyingly I can't even say that the anime oversimplified him, because while they fumbled with his personality they certainly left a lot to chew on. Although, while I think that it's great to take material from the anime into personal headcanons, I believe that game canon trumps anime canon, so unless it exists in neo (such as the angel wings and headphones mural in Udagawa + I'm pretty sure one of Neku's victory lines quotes Hanekoma from the anime) I don't think anything in the anime should be considered as canon. A sort of "until proven otherwise" approach. Hanekoma explicitly saying that Sho is attached to Shibuya should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

That said! With the way he talks about beauty and art in the first game I definitely think that he could have become frustrated with the state of Shibuya under the Composer and sought after his spot in order to create his idealized version of the city. In a way he's kind of like Megumi, tearing Shibuya apart because he loves it without fully understanding what makes it so special. That's cool!! And it's why so many people love Shibuya in the first place, it's where opposing desires clash and change for having come to understand one another. That's why Sho could never have become Composer. For all the strength in his ideals he's incapable of cooperation, he's like an invasive species choking out everything else and because of that, the natural selection of Shibuya booted him out of rotation. That's kind of how I see it anyways.

This is all my very long and complicated way of saying that I don't think his implied motives in the anime should necessarily be considered canon, but also that you can extrapolate just as much from his behavior in the first game anyways, even if neo doesn't do much to expand upon this idea. I totally agree with your point and I think it's a super interesting angle to approach his character from!! I only wanted to say all that about anime canon because I think your point is better supported by the game itself, whereas people can very easily write off the anime for only being a sort of semi-canon.

Actually, the anime had me SO convinced that this was going to be important that I spent nearly the entire game convinced that Sho's grand plan was to stage a coup against the Shinjuku Reapers. I couldn't imagine he was happy with them encroaching on "his territory." I was absolutely sure that the climax was going to be a final Scramble Slam with the Shibuya Reapers and Players (and Sho) teaming up to defend their city from the Shinjuku Reapers and chase them off once and for all. I still think this would've been really cool....Sho revolutionary freedom fighter WHEN

Also, you're right about neo too!! I tend to see Sho as someone who perhaps never fully grasped the weight of what he did when he unleashed taboo noise on the city. All those deaths were part of his cause, one he believes in so fiercely that he's willing to tear himself apart over and over again to achieve. It was "for the greater good" in a way. Maybe he couldn't understand the other Reapers as complete, complex individuals with lives he snuffed out and it all just seemed like noise to him. Then when he absorbs Rindo's soul pulvis he lashes out and deeply hurts the few people who he, in his heart of hearts, very likely cares about, and for the first time it gets to him. Having to confront the fact that your worldview is fundamentally flawed and will only ever end in your own self-destruction and that of everyone around you, realizing that after everything you've done, having given yourself fully to a cause for years upon years, that it's all been for nothing because you were always going to end up here, lying half-dead on the ground, looked at only with horror and pity...what do you do? Where do you go from there? According to neo, right back to where you started at the beginning of the first game, apparently, but that's another conversation and I'm getting off track. Sho Minamimoto. That is all.

I Imagine most ppl are human here while shit is hitting the fan, but also, egg creatures beloved<3 so quesadilla is just a community shelter thing while things are hitting the fan, and they joke 4ever is their prez because of the work he does all around the community shelter because he was a builder contractor thing before the apocalypse hit and was in the way to a meeting so that's reason of the suit hihi.

And the zombies in question! I don't think they are like the modern ones, aka rabies infection mostly inspired, but it is an infection that spreads through skin and epidermal layers first than running through blood like most virus, it can't handle well internal heat! So fevers and things make it better traveler that way, and so it shows clearly like what I described :)

When it reaches the head is when things change, because than it has access to brain and spine which leads to most nerves, which makes then jerk around erratically in seizure like manner! But no brain damage is being done besides the infection taken over lol, which then can seize the pesky fever and starts the hanger in the body! Like diversion of things and substituted of things, like breaking the iron out of hemoglobin to mix with keratin to make more durable parts of teeth and protect the head more from outer circumstances, because the rule of hitting the head to kills till applies here because it is the center of nervous system which the infection is operating as, and then the behavior of aggressiveness starts up, and now you have a new roaming monster that will attack anything on sight!

Sothat means this apocalypse doesn't have roaming hoards you have to watch for, just hyper aggressive and skilled monsters that if they catch the evidence of you will start hunting, so it is deadly quiet, and you have to be extra careful going around if not protected by strong walls and high places.

Which is why Bad is the chosen gatherer! He is so deadly quiet he could and did walk around a zombie nearby without being spotted and attacked Hehe

Anyway yeah, pretty neat thing, and yeah it would still follow the qsmp storyline so the eggs are missing hihi
