she was inspired by this post where i was trying to think of an alter ego for jess and came up with a “smiley” character, which turned into its own guy. tbh she’s pretty self-insert-y when i was figuring out how to slot her into the mh plot

middle iggy -> during marble hornets production

not an actor. tutored by and friends with sarah, little sis of seth, sometimes seen because of her relationship with both of them

camera shy, awkwardly smirks before scooting out of frame

her presence to kralie is that akin to a dog, but a moral support for everyone else

sees the toll the film is taking on everyone, especially seth

helps sarah pull away from the film, allowing her to avoid the operator's influence at the expense of her own withdrawal

realizes she's in trouble when she's tagging up the hospital (alex's rq to make it seem marginally more school-like) and feels a camera watching her. yeah its alex

never uploads or contributes to the channel, rather focuses on real world aspects that make jay do more than look for tapes

mostly just wants to keep seth in check because he is being less and less ok on the search for some "ark"

more conspicuous but doesn't

since you don't see her on camera, her influence is shown thru stuff marked in red and blue, marks up rosswood to help tta members find landmarks and pill stashes. this system is generally left an enigma to jay and alex but they know it has meaning

early s2 jay ends up following the throwup depicted above. it goes in a circle and tta uploads a video "gullible". they leave a single regular production tape at the end tho

the path the FOLLOW leads to, however, is a closed loop that starts near the edge of the forest. jess ends up using this to escape when they get lost

dislikes the goal tta is taking, from 'finding the ark and mess with alex' to 'kill alex at all costs'

seth tells her to go home in tta video "dismissal"

right smiley -> post dismissal, during tim and jay roadtrip times

they pull up at the house following a lead abt seth and it is. on fire oops. alex is nowhere to be seen but there's a dog that runs out. the video also says they saw someone moving around in the fire but they didn't catch it on cam

smiley is basically dead. at this point the operator keeps it alive to sow more danger, somewhat like the rake except with bite marks

will chase you and maim you and bite you if you catch it on camera. will also destroy your tapes and camera

the boys don't record themselves as much :/

operator sickness also manifests in rabies-like symptoms, especially the biting and the hydrophobia. yea her face is always like that

in tta vid "compromise" hoody is spyin on tim smokin by a highway. smiley gets caught in this, runs past tim and takes down hoody. tim ends up saving hoody by beating it with a rock until it's super dead, letting hoody run free and getting over his vendetta

this prevents the events of entry #83. brian and tim make up and kill alex with the power of friendship the end
