Apollo cabin is know for its archers, musicians and healers.
Every kid gets claimed within three days. No one is born during summer. Apollo meets his mortal lovers during summer, and their kids are born max in May.
Being a healer means you sing an anthem for your father and use your energy. You almost never miss.
Lee Fletcher was the best archer and could shoot ten arrows at once, never missing the target. He could play piano, guitar and violin. He was known for being one of the most caring people in the Camp. He looked a lot like Apollo, with blond curls and green eyes.
Michael Yew was different. Along with Lee, he was also the best archer, having to compete with the former multiple times. Unlike Lee, he could play only one instrument, but he still held the title of being the head of infirmary. He was hot-headed, but still kind.
Will Solace is Apollo's every gift and every fear. Will can't use a bow to save a life and has a voice of a dying seagull. He gets easily annoyed, he spent too much time with Hermes cabin and the Stolls and Luke, and is convinced that he would be a bad counselor.
He fights with a sword, with a knife and with his fists and everything in him. He fights fiercely, looking at the opponent with a smirk and Python-like look in his eyes. He definitely feels himself like one, when he knows he's won.
He looks a lot like Apollo, so it was easy to understand why Lee always watched over him. Watching Luke look out for the boy was okay, too, since Will was in his cabin for a long time and also the youngest camper at that time. But when Clarisse decided that yeah, she likes this guy, the Camp fell into a panic mode.
Will was claimed a year later after his arrival, so people were of course confused on what took Apollo so long. In the end, Cabin 7 was happy for their new little brother.
Unlike his many siblings, his birthday was on the last day of summer.
He excelled in medicine, being the best healer in three hundred years on Chiron's memory. The healers were rare, but the ones who could heal without their parent's help was unheard of.
He also, as it turned out much, much later, has a power to glow and to cause plagues of various types. Another interesting thing - he was causing plagues way before he was healing anyone.

Increasingly, it is not safe to be in public, to be human, to be fallible. I’m not quoting breathless journalism about rising crime or conservative talking points about America falling into ruin. The ruin I’m thinking of isn’t in San Francisco or Chicago or at the southern border. The ruin is woven into the fabric of America. It’s seeping into all of us. All across the country, supposedly good, upstanding citizens are often fatally enforcing ever-changing, arbitrary and personal norms for how we conduct ourselves.
In Kansas City, Mo., Ralph Yarl, a Black 16-year-old, rang the wrong doorbell. He was trying to pick up his younger brothers and was simply on the wrong street, Northeast 115th Street instead of Northeast 115th Terrace, a harmless mistake. Andrew Lester, 84 and white, shot him twice and said, according to Ralph, “Don’t come around here.” Bleeding and injured, Ralph went to three different houses, according to a family member, before those good neighbors in a good, middle-class neighborhood helped him.
In upstate New York, a 20-year-old woman, Kaylin Gillis, was looking for a friend’s house in a rural area. The driver of the car she was in turned into a driveway and the homeowner, Kevin Monahan, 65, is accused of firing twice at the car and killing Ms. Gillis.
In Illinois, William Martys was using a leaf blower in his yard. A neighbor, Ettore Lacchei, allegedly started an argument with Mr. Martys and, the police say, killed him.
Two cheerleaders were shot in a Texas parking lot after one, Heather Roth, got into the wrong car. One of her teammates, Payton Washington, was also shot. Both girls survived, with injuries.
In Cleveland, Texas, a father asked his neighbor Francisco Oropesa to stop shooting his gun on his porch because his baby was trying to sleep. Mr. Oropesa walked over to the father’s house and has been charged with killing five people, including an 8-year-old boy, with an AR-15-style rifle. Two of the slain adults were found covering children, who survived.
At a Walgreens in Nashville, Mitarius Boyd suspected that Travonsha Ferguson, who was seven months pregnant, was shoplifting. Instead of calling the police, he followed Ms. Ferguson and her friend into the parking lot and, after one of the women sprayed mace in his face, according to Mr. Boyd, began firing. Ms. Ferguson was rushed to the hospital, where she had an emergency C-section and her baby was born two months early.
And sometimes there is no gun. On Monday, Jordan Neely, a Michael Jackson impersonator experiencing homelessness, was yelling and, according to some subway riders, acting aggressively on an F train in New York City. “I don’t have food, I don’t have a drink, I’m fed up,” Mr. Neely cried out. “I don’t mind going to jail and getting life in prison. I’m ready to die.” Was he making people uncomfortable? I’m sure he was. But his were the words of a man in pain. He did not physically harm anyone. And the consequence for causing discomfort isn’t death unless, of course, it is. A former Marine held Mr. Neely in a chokehold for several minutes, killing the man. News reports keep saying Mr. Neely died, which is a passive thing. We die of old age. We die in a car accident. We die from disease. When someone holds us in a chokehold for several minutes, something far worse has occurred.
A man actively brought about Mr. Neely’s death. No one appears to have intervened during those minutes to help Mr. Neely, though two men apparently tried to help the former Marine. Did anyone ask the former Marine to release Mr. Neely from his chokehold? The people in that subway car prioritized their own discomfort and anxiety over Mr. Neely’s distress. All of the people in that subway car on Monday will have to live with their apparent inaction and indifference. Now that it’s too late, there are haunting, heartbreaking images of Mr. Neely, helpless and pinned, still being choked. How does something like this happen? How does this senseless, avoidable violence happen? Truly, how? We all need to ask ourselves that question until we come up with an acceptable answer.

Other than that, I hope everyone enjoys these next two chapters. This one’s less action and more set-up for future parts. The next one should be out before Sunday’s episode. Read on, babes!!
—————————
May 10th, 2002. Austin, Texas.
The only proof Joel had that he’d been at the bar the night before was the throbbing pain in his temples. It was a sobering reminder that his talent for drinking was slipping with age. Still, he pounded some coffee and an Aspirin, picked up Tommy and headed off to work.
On their way, Joel found his eye straying to each women he drove past that even bore a tiny resemblance to Y/n. He should have been surprised that it had only taken one meeting for her to brand herself on his brain, but she was something special. She probably had that effect on everyone she met.
Joel parked the car outside the hardware store, leaving a semi-hungover Tommy to grab a few more minutes of sleep. Sarah was at soccer practice for the morning and then off to a friend’s house, they could almost get in full day of work.
Both the Miller brothers knew their way around the store like the back of their hands. Joel went to the back to get his quota of wood cut, made small talk with the older guy who worked the cutter and navigated the aisles effortlessly. There was nothing new about any of it…
On the other side of each aisle, Y/n was pushing a cart and restocking product. Home improvement wasn’t her passion in life, but her father had been one of those “don’t pay someone to do it if you can do it yourself” kind of guys, so it came natural to her. The pay was good, she liked her boss, and she enjoyed the community aspect of the job.
They were dancing without knowing it. Each time Joel moved in one direction, Y/n moved in the opposite, and vice versa.
Eventually, Joel got to the last thing on his list: a new drill bit. He steered his cart around a corner and down the corresponding aisle. When he got to the hook it was supposed to be on, he found it empty. This was not the day for that…
Y/n pulled down the aisle, spotting a customer rifling through a shelf, and put on her employee smile. “Can I help you find some-“
Joel practically smacked his head on the shelf above, standing up as soon as he heard that familiar voice.
Y/n’s eyes lit up, “You.”
“You,” Joel echoed, a surprised smile coming to his face.
“Hi,” Y/n chuckled.
Joel’s brain stopped firing any and all signals, “Hi.”
“So we had the same early morning planned,” Y/n smiled.
“Shoulda carpooled,” Joel replied, earning a breathy laugh. His chest warmed.
“How are you?” Y/n asked, as if some grand thing had occurred in the past twelve hours they’d been apart.
Joel leaned one arm on the handle of his cart, “Good. Headin’ off to work.”
“No Tommy?” Y/n looked over his shoulder.
“Nah, he’s sleepin’ last night off in the truck,” Joel said, putting a hand on his hip.
“Can’t say I blame him,” Y/n looped a finger through the grate of her cart, swinging her body into the aisle, “I shouldn’t have let you two buy me that second glass.”
Joel smirked, “Can’t hold your liquor?”
“Oh, I can hold it,” Y/n said confidently, scrunching up her face after, “Until the next morning.”
The two of them shared a short laugh before Y/n remembered why they were there. “You were looking for something,” she pointed to the shelf.
He was? “Oh, yeah,” Joel remembered, “Quarter inch bit.”
“Hang on,” Y/n said, determinedly sorting through one of the boxes in her cart. She pulled out the piece of steel and held it up victoriously.
“You’re my hero,” Joel said, taking it from her, “Day would have been a waste without this.”
“Well, there you go,” Y/n couldn’t help herself from beaming, “You saved me last night, I returned the favor.”
Joel internally winced at the memory.
“Are you done shopping or can I pull anything else out of my magic Mary Poppins cart?” Y/n quipped, patting a hand against one of the boxes.
“Nah, that was the last thing on the list,” he answered, wishing dearly he’d written more on the piece of paper in his hand.
“Well, I’ll check you out,” Y/n said, wishing she’d chosen any other phrasing.
Joel held up a hand, “I don’t wanna take you away from what you’re doin’.”
“Please, you’re doing me a favor,” Y/n grabbed the end of her cart and began to drag it down the aisle, “You’re the first human interaction I’ve had all morning.”
Deciding that he was doing a service and nothing more, Joel followed her through the store. He didn’t know if he believed in fate, but he believed in luck, and it felt like he’d gotten tossed a rare bit of good luck by meeting Y/n again.
Y/n was half convinced she’d caused Joel to materialize. Here she was, thinking about him and his big brown eyes all morning, and then there he was. It was either an unbelievable stroke of luck, or someone Up There had seen fit to brighten her day a little.
As Y/n scanned Joel’s items, a nervous silence blanketed them. Everything that filtered through their minds sounded too awkward to say. There wasn’t a whole lot of ground to cover, they’d only known each other for less than twenty four hours.
“You doin’ okay?” Joel finally asked, hoping he wasn’t crossing some line, “After last night?”
“Oh,” Y/n looked down at the pile of purchases, “Yeah, I’m fine. Not the first time it’s happened. I just need to get better at defending myself.”
Joel’s blood boiled under his calm demeanor, men were awful. “There shouldn’t be a need in the first place,” he bit out as he gripped his cart a little tighter.
Yn shrugged sadly, “It’s the world we live in. That’s why it’s so nice to meet guys like you and Tommy. You make up for your sex’s failings.”
Joel chuckled under his breath as he handed her his debit card, “Not sure we can fill that tall an order.”
Laughing softly enough to make Joel’s chest flutter a little, Y/n rang up the order and handed him the bags.
“Well, I guess I know where I’ll be seeing you two from now on,” she said.
“Yeah,” Joel replied, “And thanks for helping me find that bit. You really saved our asses.”
Y/n playfully held her hands up, “I didn’t get employee of the month for nothing.”
Joel could hear that little voice in his head, the same one that had a residency in the gut, telling him to take a shot and ask Y/n out. He wasn’t a timid guy, but she had some sort of spell on him that made his palms sweat and his mind go blank. Plus, he’d sworn off bringing anyone into his life a long time ago. It was all around, a bad idea.
“Well, I’ll see you around,” he finally decided on.
Y/n hoped her smile hid all her sadness, “See you.”
Joel and his cart made it about three steps before he threw caution to the wind.
“Hey,” he turned around, “Do you think, maybe….I could take you to dinner sometime?”
Y/n’s grin spread like wildfire across her face, “Yeah,” she replied, “I’d like that.”
Both of them released a caught breath, Y/n pressed a button on the printer and tore off a piece of reciept paper. She scribbled her number down.
“I work a lot,” she told him as she wrote, “But I’m usually free on Fridays.”
“Okay,” Joe took the paper from her, their fingers brushing, “I’ll call you.”
Y/n had to physically restrain her lips and the giggle that threatened to show itself. “You do that,” she responded, fiddling with her pen.
Joel gave a sideways smile, deciding to get out while he was on a winning streak. He held up a hand and turned on his heel, confidence powering his stride.
Y/n stayed at the checkout counter a little longer, trying to compose herself lest customers think she was high. She set her pen back down and did a little skip back to her cart. It was going to be a great day.
Joel made it back to the truck, loading his supplies into the flatbed with unusual enthusiasm. He didn’t care about his headache, his backache…he was flying too high for anything to bother him. He climbed into the driver’s seat, Tommy groaned as he did.
“You took your time,” he grunted.
Joel didn’t get many moments of victory, he was going to let himself bask in this one a while. He held up the piece of paper to Tommy, who leaned over and read it. Above an unknown phone number was Y/n’s name with a heart next to it.
Tommy’s grin stretched, “No way.”
Joel simply grinned and started up the truck.
“No fuckin’ way,” Tommy got louder, reaching over and shaking his brother’s shoulder. They drove off, Joel’s mood was shifted for the day. The nerves would set in later. For now, he just wanted to be excited about taking out the beautiful girl from the bar.
—————————
2023, Boston
Tess slammed Y/n up against the inside of the abandoned building.
“What the hell’s going on?”
Y/n pulled on Tess’ jacket and tried to flip her around. She rammed her elbow down on Tess’ arm and broke the hold. Before Tess could fight back, Joel took hold of both their arms and wrenched them apart. Y/n slipped as he did an fell on her side, refusing to groan and let any vulnerability show.
“I already told you,” Y/n grunted, pushing up on one arm, “She’s not sick.”
“You think we’re just gonna believe you?” Tess continued, “Give us one reason why we shouldn’t kill you both right now.”
Y/n smirked, her eyes bouncing to Joel, who glared at her with the same coldness he had twenty years ago. “How else are you going to get your battery?”
No matter how much control Joel wanted to pretend he had over the situation, Y/n held the real power. Ellie and her were the key to getting to Tommy.
Ellie watched this all from the side, exhausted and scared.
“Now here’s what’s going to happen,” Y/n stood to her feet and pointed to Ellie, “She’s going to get some sleep. At some point tonight, I’m going to do the same. Have a gun on me the whole time, I don’t fucking care,” she gestured between her and the girl, “But both of us are going to be breathing come morning,” she looked to Joel, “Or else you get to live with the fact that Tommy could have lived if it wasn’t for your overeager trigger finger.”
Joel’s blood boiled, furious with Y/n for having stepped over that line. How could she speak about his life so carelessly?
“We’ll take the first two shifts,” Tess stated, leaving no room for argument, “But we get our answers first thing.”
Y/n gave a single nod, picked up her backpack and motioned for Ellie to come with. In the middle of the building, there was a patch of grass that could act as a bed. Y/n sat down and pulled out her sweater, balling it up and laying her head atop it.
“Are you sure they won’t kill us?” Ellie asked quietly, she followed Y/n’s actions and crumpled up her jacket.
“Positive,” Y/n said as she shut her eyes. Joel may have been reckless with her life, but he’d sooner die than let anything happen to Tommy.
Ellie curled up a few inches away from Y/n. It was funny what life-or-death circumstances could do to people. Y/n was the only person Ellie had taken to out of the Fireflies, but now, with Tess and Joel as her other options for comfort, she was her new favorite person. Ellie turned on her side to face the woman, the only person she could count on to protect her…
—————————
Sunlight across Y/n eyes woke her up. She stretched out her legs and yawned, spotting a sleeping Ellie at her side. She’d never gotten woken up for her turn to keep watch, but that had been expected. It didn’t take a genius to guess what was waiting in front of her.
Sure enough, Joel had his rifle pointed straight at her chest.
“You’re getting predictable,” Y/n remarked, rubbing one of her eyes.
Ellie woke soon after, sitting up and finding the same sight.
“Morning,” she said. The second she moved, Joel’s gun followed her. Y/n immediately pulled her gun off of her belt and pointed it at her ex.
“Do I look like I’m infected?” Ellie asked.
“Show us your arm,” Joel demanded.
Ellie rolled up her sleeve and showcased the scarred bite. Tess and Joel leaned forward to examine it, which was hard to do with half a room between them.
“Yeah, it’s not getting any worse, is it?” Ellie said impatiently, “If we’re out in the open city, why aren’t we getting swarmed?”
“Don’t worry about that,” Joel ignored her concern.
“Well, I’m gonna,” the girl replied.
“What was Marlene doing with an infected kid?” Tess switched lanes.
Ellie shook her head, “I’m not infected.”
Tess and Joel gave a deadpan stare, Y/n rolled her eyes. It wasn’t like it was a fucking fairytale they were asking them to believe. There was proof right in from of them.
“She found me after I was bitten,” Ellie continued.
“And she didn’t shoot you,” Joel put another piece of the puzzle together.
“Clearly not. She locked me up and had her guys,” Ellie glanced over to Y/n, “Test me every day to see if I was getting sick.”
“Test you how?” Tess asked.
Ellie sighed, “I have to pee.”
Nobody cared. “Test you…how?”
“They’d make me count to ten and hold my hand out and then keep it steady,” Ellie answered, “But, you know, I think what really impressed them was that I didn’t turn into a fucking monster. Now can I please?”
As Ellie stood up, Joel rose with her, and so did Y/n. Betrayal and loyalty mixed between them like oil and water. Ellie held her hands up, caught in the middle of it.
“Fine,” Tess relented, “Back there, you can find a spot. And here,” she tossed a magazine Ellie’s way, “Tear out a few pages.”
Ellie glanced between Y/n and Joel, checking to make sure there wasn’t about to be a shootout, and headed back. “There’s not gonna be anything bad in here?”
“Just you,” Joel answered.
“Oh, funny,” Ellie said before disappearing.
With her gone, Joel and Y/n really had no reason to still be aiming at one another. At the same time, they cautiously lowered their weapons. Despite whatever tragic nostalgia they’d indulged in the night before, they’d gone back to hate, as if their memories had been a symptom of some bad hangover. It was all forgotten in the light of day.
Joel sat back down with Tess, letting his unflinching stare rest on Y/n. Y/n had seen enough of that scowl to not be intimidated by it. Eventually, when nothing more could be said, his eyes dropped to examine his hand. The pain had set in overnight and he couldn’t keep it from shaking.
“Broken,” Tess stated, sitting down next to him.
“Maybe a hairline,” he replied, never looking at her, “It’ll heal fast.”
“Okay,” Y/n muttered, clapping her hands together, “You keep thinkin’ positive, I’m gonna go take a piss.”
She marched over the small hill of grass and knocked on the door frame of Ellie’s makeshift bathroom. “Me,” she announced.
“Don’t fuckin’ look,” Ellie said quickly from somewhere in the room.
“I’m not,” Y/n replied, staring at the ceiling as she wandered, “Just tell me where to go.”
“Left a little,” the girl instructed, “Straight. There you go.”
Y/n unbuckled her pants and squatted, “Throw me the book?”
Ellie tossed the papers her way, they awkwardly went on with their business in silence.
As much as Y/n hated to let Joel have any sort of win over her, if they were going to convince him and Tess to help them to the State House, he was going to need more information.
“You’re gonna have to tell them,” she told Ellie, “About out West.”
Ellie was finished and standing on the other side of Y/n, “I thought I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone.”
“Yeah, well,” Y/n sighed, “They’re not gonna believe you unless you do. Marlene would say the same thing.”
“What about you?” Ellie asked, “Would they believe you?”
Y/n bitterly chuckled, the memories that once had stingers now couldn’t penetrate her thick skin. “No, they won’t believe me. You’re our only shot.”
Outside, Joel and Tess were discussing the sudden plot twist.
“She made it through the fuckin’ night, Joel,” Tess urged, her voice dripping with hope.
“It doesn’t matter,” Joel argued, “It’s gonna happen sooner or later. Alright? We’re still close to the Wall, we sneak ‘em back into the QZ. We find a different way to get the battery.”
“What about her?” Tess asked, there was no need to specify which one she was referring to, “You don’t believe her?”
“I don’t trust a fuckin’ word that comes out of her mouth,” Joel answered harshly, the past nipping at his heels, “She’s lied before and she’ll do it again.”
Tess had something unique going for her: she didn’t share history with Joel and Y/n. She saw through all their bullshit objectively. “This is our best shot,” she said, “We take ‘em back to the QZ, someone’s gonna notice her arm, they’ll scan her, then they’ll kill her.”
Joel wasted a heartlessly little amount of time with his reply, “Well, better her than us. You need to stop talkin’ about this kid like she’s got some kind of life in front of her.”
He didn’t know it, but he should have felt grateful that Y/n couldn’t hear his comment over the ripping of magazine pages. She would have shot him then and there.
Ellie and Y/n walked out, Ellie tossing the magazine back at Tess and Y/n keeping close watch as she took her seat.
“You hungry?” Tess offered to Ellie, “You can share some of ours.”
“Thanks,” Ellie replied, “Marlene sent me with my own.”
If Y/n wanted to feel like she was beating Joel in something, breakfast gave her the win. While he picked at a piece of jerky with his fractured hand, she and Ellie worked on their oversized sandwiches. Petty? Perhaps. But Y/n felt entitled to whatever form her hatred wanted to take.
“Is that chicken?” Tess finally asked.
Ellie nodded, “Yeah. Marlene and Y/n say they get it from smugglers. Guess not you guys.”
For whatever reason, even though she’d attacked her, Y/n was starting to feel empathy for Tess. She was the only one semi-amenable to Ellie’s situation. Against her instincts and more in line with her heart, she ripped the rest of her sandwich in half and walked it over to Tess, who looked up appreciatively. On her way back, she made a point of passing by Joel.
Tess stood up and approached Y/n and Ellie, setting Joel off. “Hey. Hey!”
“Why-“ Tess started, throwing a hand up to Joel to stay put, “Why is she so important to you and Marlene? And don’t lie to me or we’ll take you both back.”
“You take us back,” Ellie answered for Y/n, “You don’t get your battery.”
“You heard that?” Tess scoffed, “Well, then you must’ve heard that he wants to shoot you.”
Y/n wanted her heart to break at the comment, but when she looked into Joel’s eyes, she saw nothing. Nothing.
“He also knows he dies if he does that,” Y/n retorted, staring down the man like she could burn a hole through him by sheer force of will.
Tess kneeled down in front of Ellie, “I’m gonna talk to you like you’re an adult, okay? Joel and I aren’t good people. We’re doin’ this for us because, apparently, you’re worth something. But we don’t know what you’re worth if we don’t know what we have. So answer my question.”
Y/n and Joel saw none of the conversation, their eyes were locked on one another like bulls locking horns.
Ellie, however, took Y/n’s advice. “There’s a Firefly base camp somewhere out west,” she confessed, “With doctors. They’re working on a cure.”
Absurdity won and Joel broke his stare first, “Mm-hm, I’ve heard this before.”
“And whatever happened to me,” Ellie continued, “Is the key.”
“Is the key to finding the vaccine,” Joel’s voice overlapped with hers, turning to Tess, “That’s what this is? We’ve heard this a million times. Vaccines, miracle cures. None of it works. Ever.”
“This time it’s different,” Y/n argued.
Ellie stood up, “Fuck you, man. I didn’t ask for this.”
“You and me both,” Joel retorted, “This isn’t gonna end well, Tess. We need to go back.”
“Oh, yes,” Y/n smiled a joyless smile, “Once again, Joel Miller’s making decisions for everyone. What a comfort.”
It was the first time she’d said his name in twenty years and it was doused in venom. It should have hurt.
Tess got to her feet and came to Joel, “Let’s just finish it. It doesn’t matter if she is or isn’t what the Fireflies say she is. If they believe that she is, then…we get what we want.”
Joel faced two realities; one in which Y/n’s words from the night before came true and his brother died because of his stubbornness, and one in which he risked his life for a group of radicals running on hope that would never come to fruition.
He sighed, “If she so much as twitches…”
Ellie began to choke and snarl, flailing her hands like one of the infected. It pressed all their buttons.
“Don’t,” Tess and Y/n said in synchronization.
Ellie stopped, nervously rubbing her neck, “Yeah, okay…”
“Okay?” Tess asked her partner.
Joel glanced between Y/n and Ellie, then sighed. “Okay.”
Without another word, Tess, Joel and Y/n began packing up their gear. Ellie followed their lead, spotting Joel’s rifle. “Can I have a gun?”
“Absolutely not,” Joel replied.
“No,” Tess said.
“Not happening,” Y/n finished.
“Okay, fine,” Ellie’s voice went higher, “I’ll have to throw a fuckin’ sandwich at them.”
Joel pushed the bookcase he’d used to barricade the door aside and peeked out the door. “It’s clear,” he reported.
Y/n walked ahead of Ellie and let the sun hit her. Boston had been cold lately and the warmth was a treat.
“Whoa,” Ellie whispered behind her, she’d never seen or felt the freedom being outside the Wall brought.
“Yeah, looks different in the daylight huh?” Tess said with an almost smile.
There was beauty interlaced with the destruction. Vines twined around crumbling buildings. Grass growing around deserted cars. People theorized the apocalypse would look like blood and destruction, but survival wasn’t so black and white.
“We should get movin’,” Joel said, breaking Y/n from the first near-pleasent thought she’d had all morning.
The four of them walked through the city in a row, Ellie tried to keep pace while also taking in her surroundings.
“It’s like a fucked up moon,” she observed, wandering to look at one of the explosion sites, “Is this where they bombed?”
“Yeah,” Tess answered, “They hit most of the big cities like this.”
Maybe Tess could talk about it with some degree of separation, but Y/n and Joel kept painfully silent. They’d seen the destruction and didn’t want to deal with Ellie’s marveling at it. As Tess stopped to explain history to the girl, they kept moving.
They all came to a pause when they saw their route blocked by the remnants of a building.
“So, the State House is across there,” Tess said, “It’s about a ten minute walk if you could go straight.”
“So?” Ellie questioned.
“Long way or short way?” Joel asked.
“I mean, it’s the long way or the “we’re fuckin’ dead” way,” Tess replied.
“Well, I vote long way, based on that limited amount of information,” Ellie spoke up, “Y/n?”
Y/n inhaled to give her opinion when Joel spoke up. “We should check it from the hotel first.”
“That hand’s not broken yet,” Y/n recalled, “I’d be happy to remedy that.”
“Okay,” Tess said, breaking up the fight and taking the first steps. For two people who had survived twenty years in an infectious wasteland using nothing but their survival skills, Y/n and Joel brought out the child in each other. Once upon a time, that had been a good thing. Now, each petty comment felt like throwing a plastic knife and expecting it to kill.
———————————
They’d been walking an hour when they got to the interstate. Tess and Ellie were at the front, while Y/n and Joel were moving slower and bringing up the rear.
The curse of knowing someone so well is that even if you despised them, there was still safety in being around them. Y/n still wanted to throttle Joel and he didn’t want to be in a hundred mile radius of her. But it was better to be in the company of an enemy you knew rather than one you didn’t. Hatred couldn’t one-up their history.
“What did Marlene mean when she said you weren’t ready?” Joel eventually inquired.
“None of your business,” Y/n grunted as she stepped over a stray tire.
“It is if you’re gonna be a liability,” Joel replied.
Y/n scoffed, “Marlene says a lot of things. She’s not always right.”
While it was true, Joel had been more than surprised that Y/n had raised her gun so effortlessly at him, he could read in between the lines. Y/n had never had good followthrough. The Cordyceps had forced them all to adapt, but he sincerely doubted she could take a necessary shot.
“Stop doing that,” Y/n snapped.
“Doing what?”
“Stop thinking you’ve got me figured out,” Y/n sneered, “You have no fucking idea who I am anymore.”
Joel simply scoffed, that was only a half truth.
“Okay, Cowboy Joe,” Y/n remarked, the nickname earning a glare, “I don’t remember you being so quick with the murder,” Y/n decided to hit a little harder, “Or the drugs. Or the smuggling.”
Joel threw his arm out in front of Y/n to stop her, “Would you have rather I let him shoot us?”
Y/n inched her face closer to Joel’s, “I’d rather you fucking forget that we ever knew each other, cause this,” she gestured between them, “Hasn’t mattered for twenty years. We do this, and then you can go back to dealing pills and shoveling shit,” she trembled with anger and lowered her voice, “And we will never, ever have to see each other again.”
Joel thinned the close proximity even more, the last time they’d been this close had been under much different circumstances. “It’s forgotten,” he growled.
“Good,” Y/n whispered, her lips pursed as she turned on her heel and marched off.
Denial was a hell of a thing, but forgetting what they’d meant to each other was going to take something much stronger…
“Everyone said the open city was crazy,” Ellie mused as Y/n and Joel caught up, “Like, swarms of Infected, running around everywhere.”
“Not exactly like that,” Joel commented.
“People who’ve never seen outside like to make up a lot of shit,” Y/n added.
“So there aren’t Super-Infected that explode fungus spores at you?” Ellie asked.
“Shit, I hope not,” Tess answered, at least she had a sense of humor about all this.
“Or ones with split-open heads,” Ellie continued to earn her education, “That see in the dark like bats?”
The adults fell silent, Tess and Joel shared a look before she glanced at Y/n. Between the three of them, they’d seen the full spectrum of the abilities Infected possessed.
Like a sick joke, a distant yell echoed through the open highway. There was nothing in sight and it was impossible to tell where it had come from.
“What was that?” Ellie asked.
Joel tensed up, “Let’s keep movin’.”
————————
Once they got to the hotel, they had to get in to the hotel.
Joel shoved open the once-automatic doors and they walked in. The place had flooded, the waters that filled the lobby a mossy green shade.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Ellie exclaimed, her eyes widening as she took it all in, “You ever stay in a place like this?
“Uh, no,” Tess answered, “A little out of our league.”
“Once,” Y/n followed, “School trip to Pennsylvania.”
“How do you even know what this is?” Joel asked.
“Have you ever heard of books?” Ellie shot back.
Joel stepped down into the water, letting the sass float past him.
Ellie suddenly became hesitant, “Wait, are we going in there?”
“Yeah, we gotta get to the stairwell on the other side,” Tess replied.
“Well, I, I don’t know how to swim,” Ellie said, nervous.
Joel watched, unimpressed, from the lobby steps. “Seriously?”
“Do you think we have pools in the QZ?” Ellie retorted.
“No, smart ass. I mean,” Joel threw a leg out and hopped off the last step. The water barely hit his thighs.
“I don’t know how I was supposed to know that,” Ellie mumbled, treading into the waters with Y/n behind her.
Joel and Y/n’s argument on the highway had left her quiet. She’d been forced to change to survive the new way of life, but the memories Joel’s mere presence brought up reminded her of who she used to be. How care free, how light, how enthusiastic she’d been…she’d taken a job at a hardware store just because she liked getting to talk to people. Her old self had just become another person to mourn.
She snapped back to reality, she refused to let Joel Miller, of all people, make her fee bad about who she was.
“Hey,” Tess spoke softly, “She’s a good kid.”
Y/n glanced up at Ellie, who was wading through the water to get to the check-in desk. She enthusiastically rang the bell, “Ding! Ding!”
“Yeah,” Y/n bit back a smile, “She is.”
“Yes, sir,” Ellie played, “I would like your finest suite please,” she deepened her voice, “Yes, ma’am. Would you like me to take your luggage? Yes, ma’am,” she took hold of the luggage cart, “Right away, ma’am.”
Joel, who had lost his sense of humor over a decade ago, was done with Ellie’s excitement. “You’re a weird kid,” he remarked.
“You’re a weird kid,” Ellie repeated, a body falling out from behind the cart, “Oh, fuck me!”
Joel and Y/n had their guns drawn and were rushing over. The two of them examined what turned out to be a skeleton. Joel nudged its skull sideways with his boot, like there was a chance it was still alive and kicking.
“Uh, sorry,” Ellie nervously smiled.
Joel extended a hand to pull her up, retracting it as soon as she was on her feet. He caught Y/n rolling her eyes at him as they walked off. At this point, she was convinced he was acting like an asshole purely because he could.
The group climbed the four flights of stairs, the adults huffing and puffing while Ellie stayed as unbothered as ever.
“Fuck, holy shit,” Tess panted.
“Come on, it wasn’t that bad,” Ellie remarked.
“You try climbing ten fuckin’ floors with our knees,” Tess replied, “See how you feel.”
Y/n and Tess drifted and fell back in line with their assigned partners. While Y/n was glad Ellie and Tess had found camaraderie, she was selfish enough to not want it to come at the expense of being stuck with Joel.
They came up on what should have been their walkway, but it was blocked by a barricade of bricks and cinderblock. Joel and Tess tried the doors on each side of them, no luck.
“All right,” Tess calculated their options, “Well, I mean, maybe I could climb up there. Work my way around and open it from the outside?”
Ellie stepped forward, “Uh, no, well, I’m the smallest, so it’d be easier for me to get through.”
Y/n was quick to grab Ellie’s backpack handle, “Yeah, that’s not happening. We know what’s out there, you don’t.”
That caught Joel’s attention. When had she been sneaking out of the QZ?
“Can you give me a hand?” Tess asked of her partner.
Y/n pulled Ellie back before Joel could move her out of the way. He helped Tess up and stepped back. “You good up there?”
“Yeah, it’s a bit of a mess,” Tess reported, “So I’m gonna need a few minutes.”
It turned out, removing Tess was like removing a safety barrier for them all. Joel and Y/n sat on opposite sides of the hall, trying to keep as much space between them as possible. Ellie pulled out her pocketknife and started casually flipping it.
“Nice knife,” Joel said, trying to be cordial. Y/n was getting whiplash from his mood swings. “Where’d you learn to do that?”
Ellie didn’t flinch in her retort, “The circus.”
Joel sighed, looking away from both of them. This was him trying to be somewhat friendly, though it still came off as being put out.
Ellie, on the other hand, was better at small talk. “Where are you from?”
“Texas,” Joel answered.
“Y/n said she knew your brother,” Ellie replied, “So you all lived in Texas?”
Y/n took a breath, Joel watched her. “That’s right,” he said.
“What about Tess?” Ellie asked.
“Detroit,” Joel answered, “It’s in Michigan.”
“I go to school,” Ellie shot back quickly, “I know where Detroit is.”
Silence fell again over the threesome, eagerly awaiting Tess’ return.
“So,” Ellie started talking again, “Are you two, like, a-“
“Pass,” Joel cut her off.
“How’d you end up in Boston?” Ellie pushed, it was becoming a game for her.
“Pass,” Joel answered, “No more questions about me.”
Clever as ever, Ellie found a work around. “Okay,” she turned to Y/n, “Were you and him a-“
“Nope,” Y/n said quickly, it was more a denial of an answer than an answer itself.
Ellie sighed, trying to think up something else. “How long do Infected live?”
Joel mockingly shook his head, “Oh, I thought you went to school.”
“It’s a really shitty one,” Ellie replied.
Joel smirked, he could appreciate the girl’s wit under different circumstances. It rivaled his own. “Well, some last about a month or two,” he answered, “But there’s other’s been walkin’ around ‘bout twenty years.”
“Ever kill one?” Ellie asked, still fiddling with her knife.
“Yeah, I killed lots of ‘em.”
Y/n stiffened, hoping if she stood still, the conversation would move right past her.
“Was it hard?” Ellie continued, “Like, knowing they were people once?”
It took all the strength Y/n still possessed to not let her emotions show. To not let the nightmares take her over. She didn’t have time for them.
No matter how hard they argued that they were strangers, Joel could sense her discomfort. Her experiences with Infected were one more thing he didn’t know about her now.
“Sometimes,” he said, watching Y/n as her eyes stayed closed in concentration.
“What about that guy last night?” Ellie kept going.
A well-timed thump excused Joel from answering, him and Y/n jumped to attention.
“You can put the gun down, Joel,” Tess grunted through the wall, straining to open one of the locked doors.
“Where to?” Y/n asked.
Tess’ grim expression led them out to the hotel’s balcony, she pulled back the vinyl curtain and let them walk out onto the terrace. Ellie gained traction on the ledge’s decor and climbed to the edge. Joel and Y/n ended up on each other’s side.
Y/n’s stomach dropped at the sight beneath her.
Dozens upon dozens upon dozens of Infected lay fifty feet below them in a heap. Their sickening shrieks bounced off the buildings as they crawled and thrashed aimlessly.
“There’s so many,” Ellie gasped.
“The last time we were here,” Tess said, “They were still deep inside the buildings. Then I guess enough people came through looking for the QZ, they went inside seeking shelter…and that’s how they get more and more of the city, bit by bit, every year.”
Y/n watched through dead eyes as the horde began to move as one. She hadn’t seen this many in a long time, long enough for the sight to feel fresh. She stopped listening to Ellie and Tess’s conversation and focused on her breathing to battle the nausea, in through the nose, out through the mouth…
Joel saw it all, and he knew better than to ask. Marlene was right; she wasn’t able to handle the journey on her own.
“So we’re not going that way,” were the first words Y/n could hear again.
“No,” Tess answered Ellie.
“What do we do then?” Ellie asked, her eyes widened with fear, “Short way?”
Tess and Joel shared a look, his hands fidgeted as he thought through their route. “Museum.”

Howdy hey, i couldnt ask this from my writing blog (cuz its not my main) so im asking anonymously!
Also omg before my request i hope your power comes back :((( mine was out for a while too.
Could i please request a joel miller x f!reader where the reader lovingly calls joel cowboy? Maybe it be influenced on the song “Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy” where the reader gets joel out of a dangerous situation and puts her life over his, he gets slightly pissed off because he is protective so she tries to make it up to him. maybe some overstimulation for the reader to where she makes a big mess 🤭🤭🤭
Oh my god, this made me feral !!! Thank you for your request, I hope it's everything you asked for.
Tumblr media
Save your cowboy
CW: Oral (f and m receiving), fingering, deep throat, violence, swearing.
“So, you’re from Texas? Were you a cowboy?”
“Yes. And no.”
Joel always responded in the shortest sentences possible. And you, you liked playing games with him while you were on watch duty around Jackson. On long nights where nothing dangerous was going on, it was distracting. And he liked it, you could sometimes see the hint of a smile. He liked you.
“But, do you know the song Save a horse, ride a cowboy? Surely, you do. It’s the only… how do you say… redneck song I know.”
He sighed.
“Do you ever shut up? And we say country music. Not redneck music.”
“Not really. Sorry, cowboy.”
He scoffed. It was so cold, you could see his breathing.
It had started like that: innocently and affectionately calling him cowboy while he was holding the reins of the horses you were both riding, while you were watching over him with your gun in hand.
**
That night was particularly harsh. A blizzard had taken over the city, even the strong mountains seemed agitated with the wind like they were made of cardboard. Snow and frozen ice were hitting harshly your red faces. You were on feet this time; no horse could support this kind of temperature.
“I suggest we go over to the nearest camp, and we take watch from there.”
“Whatever you say, cowboy.”
You had to shout to hear yourselves over the wind. He held your arm so he wouldn’t lose you as you walked through the snow. You liked feeling his hand on you. He rarely touched you. He rarely even looked at you.
You were always on guard, and posted on Joel’s right, knowing that he was practically deaf in this ear. That’s when you heard shouting in your direction. Who was crazy enough to get out tonight?
“Get down!” Under the adrenaline, you pulled him under your weight, your chest on his back as he was buried in the snow. You shot towards the noise, before getting up slowly, waiting for the response of a gun.
“What the fuck are you-”
“Shut the fuck up, Joel.” You grunted.
You could barely see through the blizzard. Two silhouettes were approaching dangerously. The familiar hissing sound of a bullet. The pain that shot through your left arm. You shot in response, killing one of the raiders, and Joel took care of the other when he got up.
You didn’t talk about what just had happened, you ran to the established hunting camp of the community and barricaded the door behind you. When the adrenaline left your body, you sat on the couch and grunted in pain.
Joel got started on a fire while you took off layers to address the wound. Luckily, no sign of the bullet. But it had grazed you enough to leave a dirty wound that was bleeding profusely.
When your watch partner turned to look at you, you saw the anger darkening his gaze.
“What the fuck were you thinking, girl?!”
“Well, I’m sorry for saving your fucking life, cowboy. I’ll let you die next time, deal?”
He didn’t respond. He simply went to the restroom where medical equipment was hidden. Even the thumping of his boots sounded angry.
When he came back, he kneeled in front of you.
“Le’me see.”
You couldn’t look at him as you put your arm towards him. He disinfected the wound, you pressed your lips together at the stinging sensation. At least, it distracted you from Joel’s hands that were still cold from being outside for so long.
“I should protect you. Not the other way around.”
“Well that sounds pretty fucking sexist of you, redneck cowboy.”
He tied a bandage around your arm and got back up, ignoring your comment.
“We’re both equals, Miller. We’re doing the same job.” You insisted. “I’m not your sweet pretty thing to protect just because you’re older and stronger.” You said in a mocking voice.
“Look.” He said sternly, holding your gaze. “I don’t want anything to happen to you. I did a shitty job, I’m sorry.”
You nodded, a bit stunned to hear a “sorry” from Joel Miller.
“I’m sorry, I put us two in danger by shooting.” You finally said a you got up, stretching your arm. “I’ll… I’ll make it up to you.”
He looked down at you, for a long time. You were having a staring contest, trying to see who would flinch first under the pressure. Of course, you flinched first. You fisted his suede coat, bringing him closer as you crashed your lips against his. Your stance didn’t show any surprise, like he was waiting for this. He put his arms around you, holding you close as your tongues fought for dominance. It was messy and desperate, teeth clashing together, your noses hitting, saliva glistening on each other’s faces.
You took off his coat, the heavy material falling to the ground. His big hands pressed on your shoulders. “Make it up to me.” He whispered, and you dropped down to your knees.
Your cold fingers undid clumsily his belt, and you pulled off his jeans and briefs in one swipe. His member sprung free in front of your eyes, and you tried to hide any reaction. You opened your mouth, slowly taking him in, your fingers grabbing what you couldn’t reach. Joel held onto your hair, murmuring soft praises as you were slowly taking all of him in.
You sucked in your cheeks to make him feel every surface of your mouth. He groaned, and you wanted to smile if your mouth wasn’t full. He held your head in place, fingers tangled in your hair as he fucked your mouth, slowly at first, letting you get used to his girth. When you were more relaxed, he started thrusting harshly in your throat. You concentrated on your breathing while he used you. Joel didn’t make many sounds except the occasional grunt, until a guttural groan escaped his lips as he spilled his released inside of your mouth. You swallowed gladly.
“Let me thank you for saving me.” Joel said as he pulled you up, leaving a chaste kiss to your plush lips.
“Do what you want to me, cowboy.”
He put his pants back on as he ordered: “Take off your clothes.”
You listened, peeling every layer off your skin, leaving you to the air that was getting warmer by the fire burning. He admired you under the warm yellow and red tints of the flames that were glowing on your skin.
He made you sit down on the worn couch and with his hands, he spread your legs. Joel kneeled in front of you, a small smirk on his face.
“Didn’t think you could be so obedient.” He remarked.
You rolled your eyes.
“Shut up, or I’ll be the biggest brat.”
“I’ll make sure you won’t.”
With that, his face plunged between your thighs. He kissed your flower-like lips, before he licked your whole slit, watching attentively your face to see any reactions. You breathed heavily. You were already so aroused after taking care of him.
He licked your wetness a few times, before he concentrated on your clit. He alternated between sucking and flicking his tongue, and you were a moaning mess for him. Your hands went to his grey hair, keeping him buried in your heat. As he kept taking care of your clit, two of his thick fingers found your hole. You couldn’t help imagining how his cock would feel filling you up.
Joel spread his fingers, sucking harshly on your clit as he felt your body shaking. You just had your first orgasm with Joel, and he kept going, showing no sign of stopping. You were sensitive, legs getting jumpy. He held you down with one of his big hands, as he kept fucking you with the other one. His tongue kept lapping expertly at your sensitive bud.
“F-Fuck, Joel…” You cried.
“Come on, give me another one. I’ll make you cum until you squirt on my face.”  He said as he took a break, his fingers replacing the presence of his mouth on your clit.
Your back fell to the couch, mouth opened in a perfect “o” shape. Your legs started to shake again under another orgasm, but it wasn’t enough for Joel yet.
His tongue landed on you once again, licking rapidly at your clit. It was almost too much, you couldn’t control anything happening to your body. His fingers hit just the right spot, and you were done for. You exploded, your wetness splashing his face and ruining the already torn couch.
Joel pulled away from you and lifted his fingers to your face so you would taste yourself, which you did happily.
“Y’made such a mess, pretty girl.”
“Oh, and we’re not done, cowboy.” You smirked as you pulled him on the couch with you.

@aki-draws-things
Okay so first off I’m playing fast and loose with timelines and ages. Just know I picture Jake born in 1988 so he’s 34 in tgm.
Christopher Cameron Seresin
He’s about 5’10. Which isn’t short but good god Slider is a fucking moose.
He’s blonde af and has a collection of tattoos from above his elbow and knees, Jake loves coloring them in when he’s young. His favorite colors are light blue and green.
Two sisters, one older one younger.
Not necessarily a bad relationship with his parents just one he knew he wanted to have better for his kids. His parents weren’t exactly supportive of him being gay. They refused to acknowledge it. But it was fairly fine and didn’t cause any real issues when he was growing up.
He became a firefighter because he saw a house fire take away his grandma when he was 7. She had left a candle burning and forgotten. He got burned on the right side of his head from where he was asleep on the couch. The scars aren’t completely noticeable but if you know what you are looking for you can see them on his ear pretty easily.
Absolutely obsessed with cats. He’s gotten yelled at multiple times by Ron and his captain for going back into burned houses for pets
Literally always knew he was gay. His older sister would have magazines and he was obsessed. She would always let him take them after she got bored with them.
His younger sister was always a bit bonkers. They aren’t super close but not from a lack of trying on Chris’ part, when she leaves at 18 after graduation with a boyfriend no one is shocked.
In Highschool he was such the pretty boy. All the girls thought he was gorgeous. He didn’t really care about them but would always try to be nice when he said no to dates.
He meets Ron at age 24. Ron is 25. Chris is terrified of losing Ron when he flies. But he doesn’t actually realize that Ron is just as scared of losing him to a fire that goes wrong.
Chris LOVES dancing in clubs. It took months for him to convince the three of them a gay club in Texas in a town two hours away from where they live isn’t going to out them instantaneously. Mav ends up loving it Tom likes it until he gets jealous, Ron enjoys watching Chris be happy.
They get engaged after top gun. Chris technically isn’t supposed to know how close it got to Ron not coming home but he knows just by how Ron holds onto him when he lands in Texas with three months off.
Tom and Mav follow a month later and they all live together for those remaining two months
Chris meets Maverick and they instantly like each other. Mav and him can completely disassemble a car together and put it back in better condition.
Ice and Slider are terrified of their boyfriends when they are together, they literally don’t speak and just know what the other person needs (Ron and Tom do the exact same thing they just don’t realize it)
Jake comes into their lives in 1988, he’s barely a week old. Chris’ younger sister asked to meet for coffee and brought Jake along, she’s clearly using. She asks Chris to take Jake. She can’t do it. It’s Chris or foster care.
Chris takes Jake without a bit of hesitation. Ron comes home from meetings all day to a baby sobbing from his own withdrawals and sees Chris crying right along with Jake.
Those next few months are some of the worst, it crushes Ron to hear Jake scream like he does at night. Chris takes basically all of his time off he can, his captain fully understands and supports him the best he can. Chris is sleep deprived for months until Ron is up again for reenlistment.
Jake is 9 months old at that point and Ron only agrees to reenlist because they promise him a promotion with a guaranteed stay in one place for two years.
Ron is secretly terrified that Jake isn’t going to like him because he’s been gone so often. Slightly irrational but still a fear. It’s a stupid fear, Jake is obsessed with his other dad. He loves sitting on Ron’s lap and listening to Ron read.
Chris is also obsessed with listening to Ron read. It’s extremely comforting to him to listen to the man he loves read to their son. Son! They have a son!!
Wow can you tell I got hyper-focused and I really rambled for a while there sorry I got excited- please ask questions or please write things if you are inspired!! I’m always happy to answer!!

TG:M HEAD CANNON #2
How the Top Gun callbacks got their callsigns (3/12 in this Post)
Rooster: In no way, shape, or form is he a morning person. Yes, his dad called him Rooster, but it was just solidified after he managed to fall down the stairs, break a coffee mug, and burn toast, thus setting off the smoke alarm, all in one morning. If anyone was asleep, there was no way in hell that they were after all of that. A new unspoken rule was created there after, always, always, be awake before Rooster.
Tumblr media
^Might not be a morning person, but boy does he thrive at night, also might be in possession of a huge dick-
Phoenix: Only a few know how she got her callsign, the topic usually being closely guarded or the topic being blatantly ignored. Smoking, being very normal in any form of military, was a common sight around base. Those who smoked getting mandatory breaks designated for the bad habit. And so what did Naval Academy Phoenix do? She smoked, only for the pure fact of getting a break at least twice a day. Being called to the Admiral's office with haste, she managed to forget she was holding a lit cigarette till she stepped into the office, thus tossing it into the trash can filled with paper. Half way through their conversation about her options after graduation, the trash can caught fire. Later, that trash can was filled with ashes, and what rises from the ruble? Her callsign, now decided as Phoenix.

^ Deemed a pyromaniac, I mean look at her eyes, she loves chaos, unless his name is Hangman, threatens him with the dick in her drawer
Bob: Many think this is just a shortened version of his name (Robert), but, In the small Midwest town he lived in, the one his mom grew up in and returned to after her long stay in Oklahoma, his mom was known as being the youngest of all her siblings, earning the title 'Baby'. Bob was stationed in Texas half-way through his training, and his mom came during a family visit. She introduced herself to all the other parents as Baby as she fawned over her only son, proclaiming how much she missed the boy and how the house was just falling apart without his manly strength. After family day was over, and the extended goodbye Bob's mom gave him, he gained the nickname "Baby's only boy", later shortened to B.O.B.

With the smell of smoke still in the air and clinging to his nose, the perfume of a burned down barn, Shane wandered into the woods just near the highway that he and the group had chosen to take refuge upon. Car engines silenced - beaten down and tired. All still a blur, shapeless faces and sounds that boarded on mumbles, how his legs led him to safety, he didn't know. Couldn't remember - his mind was clouded - couldn't bear to recall. A gun had been within his hand, aimed and loaded. In what felt like a lifetime ago, thousands of years, mere seconds. A gun had been directed toward Rick with an intent to kill. Back on that farmland, when the hunt for Randall had commenced, when two brothers stood alone. When the trust of a friend morphed into the betrayal of a threat. Madness swirling within brown eyes like a tornado from Texas - ruthlessly, full of gray and black, void of light.
Flesh stained with blood from a brawl of yore, a crazed thought had driven Shane. Encouraged his fingers to take hold of the gun, coaxed the worse, the devil. A bullet had the name of Rick carved into it. A single branding; for the sake of Carl and Lori, their safety entire, the others of their found family. Soon to be punctured within the chest, before so much as a scream of protest could escape Rick's dried lips, an accusation of guilt descended instead. Between the words already shared. Rick knew Shane better than anyone. Understood the bedrock of his mind, the cracks and broken bits but loved them anyway. Guilt alone would kill. Before another foot could be set upon the land that Hershel called his own. Before the aroma of freshly baked biscuits and white gravy could hit the senses, blown out into the Georgia night from an open kitchen window. Shane would be dead, too. By his own actions, lack of fight against any enemy who would choose to pounce, a halt of the heart. Precious beats that would still to nothingness.
Gun still in hand, any effort to put an end to Rick had finished. Stalled, disappeared just as soon as it had come, vanished along with the insanity that tormented Shane. Replaced itself with tears unshed and shaking hands; surrender that would have accepted any consequence. Should Rick have called for death, dared to turn the tides of fate against Shane, so Shane would have welcomed. Wanted, could no more stand the circumstances of his life, their life, the whole world. Peace was a sweetness he so lusted for. Freedom from the fear that Walkers provided - the smell, the growls, the pain. But not from Rick did Shane find such peace. Not from the beautiful agony of a knife's edge, the bullet from a gun not already grasped. Forgiveness was born, rather. A pardon for the sinful. Exoneration that required no jury or judge. Just the touch of a brother, fingertips around a barrel just begun to be lowered, a weapon confiscated.
Into the woods nearest the highway road, Shane wandered. Could still hear the cries from those who didn't survive like he, could feel the soft grass that had been trampled under foot. There was no more democracy, so Rick declared, the echo of his command still bouncing off the trunks of trees and into the abyss of a fragile mind. Beside a dying fire. No more democracy, but that decline into organized anarchy could not soothe the hurts that already nestled inside of Shane. Rapid breath cast over the air, the rise and fall of a chest that couldn't find solace, onto the Earth did the once proud deputy go. As Cain did before the Lord, head down, eyes shut, hands covering his ears to block out the noise, the angels that taunted him. Knees brushed by more than just ash, a once red barn full of golden hay scorched, panic strangled Shane until tears couldn't be contained.
Down his cheeks did they flow, coughed and horrible. Bile risen from the depths of his stomach, the food there that hardly counted as a meal, the shame of what he had done and what he had tried to do. Otis - a gnarled and pale face that wouldn't leave, torn apart and ripped. Randall - who deserved what had come to him, a boy, broken neck bent in Shane's direction, head cocked to the side with eyes glazed in a cadaverous haze. Where it was difficult to hide, where hands could not cover the ears to shield the screams, the questions: how could you do this to us?
Breathless, absolutely breathless, prayers couldn't save Shane, but ever so did he beseech. Over and over, a scratched record, like how Grandma Jean's favorite used to spin around: God, I'm sorry. God, I'm sorry. Oh, my God, I'm sorry. Rick. Rick. Rick...
A wounded animal hunted down by the disgrace of its past, with cold sweat running down his neck, along his spine, over the forehead and down his jaw, Shane stayed within that patch of open forest. Rocked himself back and forth. Repeated his prayers, cried even when nothing came from it, conversated with persons that none could see except for he. Delusional; imagination and reality a blanket that wrapped around Shane tight. Beneath the stars, under the watchful glance of the moon, beside the ghosts.
And Shane did not leave it.

ehhhh how bout a very vaguely supernatural meets ghost fiIes inspired au
neil being raised in hunting and bringing his wife into it and then his newborn son. his wife leaving eventually, becos she couldn't handle it anymore, and she desperately wanted to take her baby boy with her, but he already knew too much, and she couldn't protect him like neil could. she also couldn't protect him from neil, but there were bigger monsters than humans, and after one too many close calls, she leaves.
billy's left in neil's supernatural capable hands.
life on the road with his dad is rough, jumping around from place to place, never being somewhere long enough to call home, no extended family or old family friends to stay at for long hot summers. just him and his dad, his dads hot and cold temper, and the open road. that's all billy knows.
then one day, they're on a hunt, and there's a freshly divorced mother and her hotheaded stubborn daughter, and billy watches as his dad continues to charm them even after they've eradicated the simple ghost, watches as the mum falls for every word and practiced smile, and suddenly it's the four of them on the road.
susan seems weak, looks awkward with a gun in her hands, still jumps at the slightest bump when they're clearing out a house, but neil's patient with her, repeats the steps on how to fire and clean the gun day after day, holds her fucking hand whenever he notices her tensing up, and billy wants to scream.
neil locked billy in the shed of the place they were renting when he was six becos he fumbled the gun. fucking belted him that one time in texas when he accidentally let a monster get away becos he was scared, like billy actively let the fucking thing get away for fun and not becos he was frozen paralysed, listening to it rattle of things that billy knew he'd never said out loud.
his dad never told him it could get into your head.
max is better about it, but still a fucking pain. at least she doesn't seem to be a baby about everything. if billy's being honest, max has handled the transition from normal suburban life to life on the road and hunting monsters like a champ. too bad neil's basically placed her entire wellbeing and care into billy's hands, and the rope billy's felt around his neck his entire life's went from snug to fucking choking.
life goes on though, and eventually billy's old enough to buy his own car, do his own hunts. max rides with him more often than not, mostly out of habit, but also becos she'd pick being stuck with her asshole older step-brother for weeks at a time over spending even just an hour in close quarters with her piece of shit step-dad.
turns out, life on the road with just billy is good. he's like a completely different person when he can breathe without his dad taking up all the air. he's even fun on occasion. actually talks her through what they're hunting, why they're hunting it, lets her actually help.
(she accidentally tripped on a tree root one time on a hunt with the family when she was younger, and one sprained wrist later, she was banned from coming on anymore. she tried to argue it was a simple tree root, and that billy slipped a disc in his spine getting thrown against a brick wall just last month, but neil put his foot down. said susan was worried, and if susan was worried, neil was worried. billy was a big boy, he could walk it off. max was delicate, she had to be kept safe. billy wouldn't even look at her for at least a week after that fight.)
the time between seeing their parents slowly grows longer and longer between each trip the longer they're away. it started off with just a few days off on a side hunt before reuniting within the week, but then the few-days-hunts turned into few-weeks-hunts, and suddenly it felt like they were only seeing their parents for special occasions.
but the longer they were away, the lighter they became. the first time max hears billy refer to her as his sister, no tone, no stressed step sister, just sister, she does a double take. doesn't dare bring it up 'til they get back to the motel they were crashing at. billy rolls his eyes, bitches about not needing to give some fucking random his entire life story.
they bond over hating neil and hating susan's life choices, get competitive over who can figure out the monster of the week first, and turn the other way when one ~accidentally lets a monster get away.
(the first time billy let a monster get away on purpose, he waited up all night, expecting his dad to burst into the room and knock some sense into him. accuse him of being just as monstrous, just another fucking killer, reckless, letting them get away like that. his dad was 6 states away and deep into a hunt of his own, but billy had second guessed his choice since the second he walked away earlier that evening, refreshing the local news site constantly waiting for another body to drop, to prove the voice in his head that sounded exactly like neil right, that he was a failure of a hunter, falling for the sob story and bullshit the monster spilled and pleaded and promised with on what should have been it's last moments.)
(billy knows real monsters though, and despite what his mother said to him in the last memory he has of her, humans were always worse. most things neil taught billy to hunt were harmless. he's trying so fucking hard to teach this to max. to make sure innocent blood never drips from her hands the way it does his.)
anyway: to the ghost fiIes part of this. i think it would be FUN if, in a big Fuck You And Everything You Stand For to his dad, that one time on a hunt, billy's having a casual joyful yelling match with a ghost, and max whips out her phone and records, uploads it to her insta, and one or two people watch.
then one time, theyre trying to get a demon to fuck off, and billy's trying to fucking sales pitch hell to them, like billy's ever even been there, and max whips out her phone again. a few more people watch.
slowly max builds a following. is always careful to frame every video in such a way that monsters stay the stuff of legends, but make it realistic enough that if you know - you know. starts to gradually add herself to this mix. soon, her and billy are going into legitimately haunted houses just to chat to ghosts, record the whole thing, and chuck the best moments up on youtube.
the first time neil sees a clip, sees his son terrorising a ghost - but not in a hunt-to-kill sort of way, but just for jokes, for a laugh sort of way - he drives for three days straight to sort him out in person. gets him up and crowded against the paper thin wall, asking if he thinks it's funny, what ghosts are capable of doing, if he thinks it's a joke, all those people they were too late to save. if he thinks his mother left him, all over a laugh. billy wishes he didn't buckle under the weight, wishes his voice didn't shake when he answered, but he caught max's eye over his dad's shoulder, and she had a gun in one hand, and her knife in the other, and billy's seen her look at poltergeists that have threatened her life more kindly than the way she's looking at neil in the moment. billy gathers what little strength he can pull, juts his chin out and glares as dirty as possible. finds his voice and kicks his dad out of the motel room, managing to shake his dad off in the split second of shock neil has over billy not instantly caving. max echoing billy's demands, telling neil to get the fuck out. to go protect her mother, since he trapped her into a life she'll never be able to survive on her own, and to keep her safe, and to stay the fuck out of theirs.
basically BASICALLY i'm watching ghost fiIes and i just think billy and max in a supernatural world but like, in a fun way, would be GOOD SHIT. and i want billy to still be lowkey scared of ghosts and demons becos he has seen the havoc they can create first hand, the families they can destroy in just a heartbeat, so he's always a little tense attending a haunting, but he goes in every time, becos its all he's ever done, becos max told him on a bad night once that she thought he was brave, and he talks (and yells and screams and mocks and, occasionally, cries) to them and slowly he starts to find himself and get his life together, helping all these fucking trapped and usually scared and also so so so angry ghosts. helps them to the best of his ability. listens to them when they wail. talks to them when they cry. he starts to heal.
max grows, too, having watched something invisible, with no physical form whatsoever, tear her father to shreds, just weeks after the divorce, to driving around the country with her brother, spending nights in houses so haunted it would scare a priest, adjusting to loving her mother from a distance, cos she'll never understand why she fell for the shit neil was offering, why she stuck around, gripping his hand tight, that first time neil lost his shit at billy in front of them. why she continued to hold his hand, going as far as to look the other way, the first time neil laid into her for not getting detailed enough research for a case, blaming her for his broken ribs and her mother's dislocated shoulder. billy silently offering her an ice pack that night in the darkness, wordlessly passing over some pills and a glass of water.
billy made a point to look over her research from then on out, just in case.
max thinks her life could've turned out a whole lot better if her dad never died, if neil and billy never entered it. but she's pretty sure that out of every option she could've had, that the way it is now, her and billy making some silly youtube show, confronting their own nightmares night after night, saving monsters, hunting things, this is the best option.
OKAY literally none of this captured my original thought of billy and max just fucking around in haunted houses and annoying the dead.
max knowing shits real but billy would swear with the way she acts and talks that she thinks it's all horseshit. billy wouldn't even call her brave, she genuinely just doesn't seem to give a fuck. she's got a fuck with Me attitude and billy gets it, okay, if he were already dead, be wouldn't try anything on her either, imagine dying once by falling down an elevator shaft then getting fucking slayed again by a seventeen yr old who failed her learners permit, not once, but twice. billy'd back the fuck off, too.
billy being a lil scared in a extremely fucking haunted houses, knowing full well that demons were real and they were here, in this very room, and max telling him to shut the fuck up whilst pushing him into the portal, aka the closet, and telling him to turn his light off and talk to it. billy, bitching under his breath, you talk to it, but still standing there, light off, stupid little camera on, opening a line of communication. his usual tactic for getting through the night being to raise absolute hell. if he's gonna chill with demons, the dead, and inter-dimensional freaks all night, he was gonna make sure they were just as fucked up about him as he was them.
feel like this STILL doesn't capture what i was originally going for but anyway if u watch ghost fiIes you Know. thank you for reading if you've made it this far also sincerest apologies for whatever the fuck this is
#i do NOT know.#i just think ghost fiIes is fun and itd be funner if we ever found out that they DID have a full on encounter#they just decided not to air it to KeEp iT LiGhT etc#and also i just think that spinning the wheel on what backstory of childhood trauma we can bend to shape around billy and max is Necessary#billy hating his father but also. its his dad. and he had an isolated childhood that kept him relient. so he hates his dad but his dad#really is all he's ever known. hard to hate somewhere with the full feeling when you don't really know any different#someone*#he resents his mother. mainly for leaving. for using the excuse that it wasnt safe for her to stay but it wasnt safe for him to go.#resents her for trying to convince him that neil wasnt the scariest thing in the world. that there was more to fear.#when he KNOWS that thats not true. it took him a while to see it. took a hellva lot of growing up and wising uo#wising up*#but eventually he finally fucking got what his mum was trying to say. and realised she was fucking wrong.#MAX being just as fucked up about everything as billy is except shes better at processing it. doesnt have an entire childhood to drag#her down and fuck her up. alls she knows is that her parents got divorced. the custody battle got messy. then suddenly her dad was dead#blood everywhere and her mum was a wreck and terrified.#then suddenly the world got a whole lot bigger yet shrunk down to just one car and four passengers#and life was never the same again#(she was never as brave as billy thought she was. she just never got to experience the horrors he had. never been walked away from#a sprained wrist here and a cut to the cheek there. some nasty bruises every other week. but she was never in any real danger.#im too tired now and none of this is what im trying to say ugh Anyway. stream ghost fiIes. stan billy & max. thanku#m#nqff

Ai Story Concept 2
The year is 1863, and the American Civil War is raging on. Jack, a bounty hunter from Texas, is hired by a Confederate general to track down and capture a notorious Union spy, known only as the Raven. Jack follows the Raven's trail across several states, until he arrives in Virginia, where he meets Anna, a nurse working at a Confederate hospital. Anna is kind and compassionate, and Jack soon falls in love with her. He decides to stay in Virginia for a while, hoping to win her heart.
However, Jack does not know that Anna is actually the Raven in disguise. She is a master of espionage, and has infiltrated the Confederate ranks to gather information and sabotage their plans. She is also aware of Jack's true identity, and his mission to capture her. She tries to avoid him, but he is persistent and charming, and she finds herself drawn to him. She struggles with her conflicting feelings, and wonders if she can trust him.
Meanwhile, the war is reaching its climax, and both sides are preparing for a decisive battle. Anna receives orders from her superiors to assassinate the Confederate general who hired Jack, and to escape before the battle begins. She reluctantly agrees, knowing that this might be her last chance to end the war. She also knows that this will put her in direct conflict with Jack, and that she might have to kill him or be killed by him.
Anna sneaks into the general's tent at night, disguised as a Confederate soldier. She finds him sleeping on his bed, and draws a knife from her belt. She approaches him quietly, and stabs him in the heart. He gasps and dies instantly. Anna feels a pang of guilt, but quickly shakes it off. She searches his belongings, and finds a map of the battle plans. She takes it, and prepares to leave.
However, as she exits the tent, she sees Jack waiting for her. He has a gun in his hand, and a look of shock and anger on his face. He had followed her, suspecting that something was wrong. He had seen her kill the general, and realized that she was the Raven. He points the gun at her, and says, "Anna, or should I say, the Raven. You betrayed me. You betrayed us all. You're a spy, and a murderer. How could you do this?"
Anna drops the knife, and holds the map behind her back. She looks at Jack, and says, "Jack, I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I love you, but I also love my country. I had to do this. It was my duty. Please, let me go. We don't have to fight. We can still be together."
Jack shakes his head, and says, "No, Anna. You can't love me, and you can't love your country. You're a traitor, and a liar. You don't deserve to live. You have to die, and so do I. We can't be together, not in this world. Maybe in the next one."
He pulls the trigger, but the gun jams. He curses, and tries to fix it. Anna sees her chance, and runs away. She hopes to reach the Union lines, and deliver the map. Jack chases after her, and manages to unjam the gun. He fires at her, but misses. He keeps firing, hoping to hit her.
However, his shots attract the attention of a nearby patrol of Confederate soldiers. They hear the gunshots, and see Jack running after Anna. They mistake him for a Union soldier, and open fire at him. Jack is hit by several bullets, and falls to the ground, wounded. He drops the gun, and cries out in pain.
Anna hears his scream, and turns around. She sees him lying on the ground, surrounded by soldiers. She feels a surge of pity, and regret. She wants to go back to him, and help him. But she knows that it is too late. He is dying, and she is in danger. She turns away, and runs. She escapes the soldiers, and reaches the Union lines. She delivers the map, and saves the day.
Jack dies, alone and betrayed. Anna lives, but with a broken heart. They have killed each other, in a way. But Anna has succeeded in her mission. She has helped the Union win the war.

Boomsticks and Bullsh*t
Apparently, the Kentucky Bank Gunman purchased his weapon legally. Why is this news? Why is his a thing that needs reporting? Why is everyone always so surprised when there's a mass shooting and they find out that guns were bought legally? Like, bro, these people are white. Of course their guns are legal. Do you know how easy it is to get a gun in this country if you're white? They sell shotguns at Wal-Mart in Texas! There's a year-round gun show there to circumvent the hold on automatic weapons. Bro, i had brunch with my chick across from the downtown convention center and watched a white man load up a small infantry's worth of automatic weapons into his ludicrously raised f-350. Imagine the response from literally everyone on the street if Houston Rambo were a black dude. F*cking guns were legal. That's the goddamn problem! Regulate this sh*t, my dude. Just because you can't guard against crazy, doesn't mean you can at least mitigate the impact with common sense precautions like thorough background checks, an assault weapon ban, and mental illness screenings. Sh*t slips through he cracks, of course, but, f*ck, at leas TRY something other than putting MORE guns on the streets. Also, just to be clear, wasn't there a school shooing in f*cking Tennessee a week before his bank assault? Pretty sure two black state reps were fired for protesting on the legislature floor over that sh*t.

March 24, 2023 (Friday)A follow-up to last night’s examination of the confusion among the Republicans about their budget plans: today when a reporter said to House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) that the chair of the House Budget Committee, Jodey Arrington (R-TX), had said that he and McCarthy were finalizing a list of proposals to give to President Biden about spending cuts, McCarthy answered: “I don’t know what he’s talking about.”
Noise also continues from former president Donald Trump, who early this morning posted on social media that his indictment could lead to “potential death & destruction”; hours later, Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg received a death threat in an envelope with white powder in it. For three days this week, Russian accounts have emailed bomb threats to the court buildings where the grand jury is meeting.
Tomorrow, Trump will hold a rally in Waco, Texas, where a 1993 government siege to extricate the leader of a religious cult who witnesses said was stockpiling weapons led to a gun battle and a fire that left seventy-six people dead.
Although a Republican investigation cited “overwhelming evidence” that exonerated the government of wrongdoing, right-wing talk radio hosts jumped on the events at Waco to attack the administration of Democratic president Bill Clinton. Rush Limbaugh stoked his listeners’ anger with talk of the government’s “murder” of citizens, and Alex Jones dropped out of community college to start a talk show on which he warned that the government had “murdered” the people at Waco and was about to impose martial law.
After the Waco siege the modern militia movement took off, and Trump is clearly using the anniversary to tap into domestic violence against the government to defend him in advance of possible indictments.
But will it work? His supporters turned out on January 6, 2021, when he was president and had the power—they thought—to command the army to back him. In the end, that didn’t happen. Since then, Trump’s foot soldiers have been going to prison while he dines at Mar-a-Lago and rails about how unfairly he has been treated.
Trump is also in more trouble today, as Judge Beryl Howell ruled last week that Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows, former director of national intelligence John Ratcliffe, former top Department of Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli, former national security advisor Robert O'Brien, former top aide Stephen Miller, former deputy chief of staff and social media director Dan Scavino, and former Trump aides Nick Luna and John McEntee all have to testify before the federal grand jury investigating Trump’s attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election
.Special counsel Jack Smith had subpoenaed these members of the Trump administration, and Trump had tried to stop their testimony by claiming it was covered by executive privilege. Howell rejected that claim. In the past, she rejected a similar claim by arguing that only the current president has the right to claim executive privilege and Biden had declined to do so. Meadows is the key witness to Trump’s involvement in the events of January 6.
Also today, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a repeal of so-called right-to-work legislation passed in 2012 by a Republican-controlled legislature, whose members pushed it through in a lame-duck session without hearings.
That legislation had a long history. U.S. employers had opposed workers’ unions since the organization of the National Labor Union in 1866, but the rise of international communism in the early twentieth century provoked a new level of violence against organized workers. In 1935, as part of the New Deal, Democrats passed the National Labor Relations Act, popularly known as the Wagner Act, and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed it into law.
The Wagner Act confirmed workers’ right to organize and to bargain with employers collectively (although to appease southern Democrats, it exempted domestic and agricultural workers, who in the South were mostly Black). It also defined unfair labor practices and established a new National Labor Relations Board that could issue cease and desist orders if workers testified that employers were engaging in them.
The Wagner Act gave workers a unified voice in American politics and leveled the playing field between them and employers. But while most Americans of both parties liked the Wagner Act, right-wing Republicans hated it because it put large sums of money into the hands of labor officials, who used the money to influence politics. And organized workers had backed Democrats since the 1860s.
So, in 1947, a Republican-led Congress pushed back against the Wagner Act. The previous year, the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) had launched “Operation Dixie” to organize Black workers, which seemed a threat to segregation as well as white employers. Together, business Republicans and segregationist Democrats passed the Labor Management Relations Act of 1947, better known as the Taft-Hartley Act. Ohio Senator Robert Taft (who was the son of President William Howard Taft) claimed that the Taft-Hartley Act would simply equalize power between workers and employers after the “completely one-sided” Wagner Act gave all the power to labor leaders.
The Taft-Hartley Act limited the ways in which workers could organize; it also went after unions’ money. Although the Wagner Act had established that if a majority of a company’s workers voted to join a union, that union would represent all the workers in the company, it didn’t require all the workers to join that union. That presented a problem: if workers were going to get the benefits of union representation without joining, why should they bother to pay dues?
So labor leaders began to require that everyone employed in a unionized company must pay into the union to cover the cost of bargaining, whether or not they joined the union.
The Taft-Hartley Act undermined this workaround by permitting states to get rid of the requirement that employees who didn’t join a union that represented them must pay fees to the union.
Immediately, states began to pass so-called right-to-work laws. Their supporters argued that every man should have the right to bargain for his work on whatever terms he wanted, without oversight by a union. But lawmakers like Senator Barry Goldwater (R-AZ), who pushed a right-to-work law in his own state, were clear that they were intent on breaking the power of organized workers. He was determined to destroy the political power of unions because, he said, their leaders were stealing American freedom. They were, he said, “more dangerous than Soviet Russia.”
Michigan had been known as a pro-union state, but in 2012, Republicans there pushed through two right-to-work laws over waves of protest. Repealing the laws has been a priority for Democrats, and now that they are in control of state government, they have made it happen.
Joey Cappelletti of the Associated Press notes that twenty-six states currently have right to work laws, and although Missouri voters overwhelmingly rejected a right-to-work law in 2017, it has been 58 years since a state repealed one. Indiana voters repealed theirs in 1965; Republicans put it back into place in 2012.
Republicans say that since the neighboring states of Indiana and Wisconsin have right-to-work laws—although there were huge protests when those laws went into place in 2012 and 2015—Michigan’s repeal of right to work will make that state less attractive to employers.
But after signing the law today, Governor Whitmer embraced a different vision for the state, saying: "Today, we are coming together to restore workers' rights, protect Michiganders on the job, and grow Michigan's middle class."

I shouldn't be awake at past-2am, but I fell asleep at maybe-6pm, so I guess that's why
I'll go back to sleep in a minute, going to see if I can type up my dream first
So it was a long and creepy one this time, all connected instead of being separate dreams
I don't really remember the beginning, or how it all connects, but here's what I do remember
-
Had to go and meet my friends somewhere, friend was late? Found my yellow jumper in the bin outside Mackie's - it was fine, I checked it over, ended up wearing it for the entire rest-of-dream
In a house? Under the floorboards was this plant. It would grow up your legs and like some parasite into your brain and change you, but I'm not sure how exactly
Out in the street, looking for some guy to (arrest him???) keep him safe from this evil woman? She had, specifically, a bubblegum pink Saab car, that's what we (there was someone with me?) were looking for - but when we/I saw her she had a bubblegum pink ford model T instead
I don't know why we were getting this guy and taking him home to Texas, but it's something to do with the parasite plant
I was in a combination sweet shop and barber's while spying out onto the street for this guy and the evil woman who was also trying to find him - the barber cut my hair very carefully, and I bought some bonbons, and then I twisted the ball off the end of my eyebrow piercing and spent a while fixing it - somehow I could see, blurrily, what I was doing, without a mirror
I had a book and two loaves of bread in my bag - one most-of-a-loaf what they call American bread in France, white sliced with like chemicals an stuff in it, and one of the same but like. Warburton's? A few less chemicals, maybe, and this one was all made into toast. I don't remember what the book was, I was just looking for the pink car and eating sweets tbh. I remember thinking something about an airport?
Then, sat on the sofa (I don't have a sofa, but then I don't have a tv or a flat like what I did in-dream neither) with the other fella I ws with - same guy as in the street looking for the Texan, and he was, somehow, a combination and/or both of the theeee them two guys off of that video game I've not played that disco police thing, he was both of them fellas (at once or at turns?), somehow - anyway, we ws sat watching telly and eating this awful cold rice with a mostly-bell-peppers not-really-sauce with it
Oh, it wasn't my flat, it was a mob boss's safehouse but he was out for a while, so
I'm not sure if the next bit is off what we were watching on telly or if it was like in-dream real-life, but basically there was all these people in a forest? And they were stuck there? Some like living in the forest fine, and some literally stuck in place where they was
There was this one, strung up by bandit types, and this little forest guy come to like save him, with a gun (????) - he said something awful dramatic, as if he were gonna shoot the leader fella, but instead he shot at the rope holding the one fella up, and he just misses, the guy stays up and the bandit types all laugh at him and advance on him like you an got no bullets left or nothing now - but it turns out the one fella, the bullet had frayed the rope enough that suddenly he drops down
It sorta just goes on to the next bit there, but it's strongly implied the bandit types get battered
In a house in the middle of the forest, and there was a lift to the basement? As you do? Me and the disco policeman went down, and the basement was made up into a flat? There was a fire at the window, so we put it out, and doing that was an alarm, it sent off smoke and alerted - behind us, very ill in bed, was the evil pink woman from before
She was like the centre of the parasite plant, and she was the one keeping all these folks stuck in the forest and I didn't see anything but I guess she died cs suddenly all the people were walking out of the forest
In the pitch black too, but I could see/hear the little forest guy from before cs they were going to the city and he was like "can't there be one tree?" and someone else asked him if he was sure he wanted to go to the city and not to some small town or whatever, and then he ran back and like carefully put his bow on a tree stump and carried on walking
And then I woke up!
I've since fell asleep and had two other dreams (now almost-8am) - one was working in a 1980s like "dive bar" place, and the other was like sort of a 90s video game type thing, getting a girl away from her mafia father who'd booby trapped his giant labyrinthine mansion

A lad finally gets some of that coveted spotlight!
Benjamin Bane (just Ben or Benji, thanks) may be the youngest of the active Autobot team as their sprightly scout who’s got a chip on his shoulder he wants to hurl into the next Functionist or Decepticon picking on him for his size, and who’s been through quite a bit despite his age, if the burn on his left arm, the slide bite on his right hand  and the multitude of old cigarette burns he’s reluctant to explain are anything to go by.
When not on the field, he’s an avid dancer (with a love for ballet, something he could only pursue in secret until recently, and something which forms the core of his offensive style) and a good enough artist that he, alongside Mirage, are the two assigned to decorate armor for the team.
His smiley, chirpy facade hides quite a couple of issues, including PSTD and self-esteem issues, anxiety attacks, and an urge to please those he trusts even if it comes at his detriment.
More to his story below. (TW for child abuse)
Benjamin Bane (Bumblebee) would be hard-pressed to come up with a single good memory concerning his biological family during his childhood, and not for the lack of trying.
Born to an upper middle-class family in New York comprising a bullish, hot-tempered police sergeant father and a housewife mother, he grew up in the shadow of the son his father, who came from a family of law enforcers, wanted him to be in order to carry on the family legacy.
That he was a gentle, bubbly, sensitive child who loved following his mother around in the kitchen and spending his free time drawing did not bode well for the image his father wished to portray, and it didn’t take long for the discipline intended to mold him into a ‘man’ to become horrifically physical when he was barely five.
His mother, already used to his old man’s temper and quick hand, would often step in to take the punishment meant for him whenever he did something undesirable, though she couldn’t save Ben from the man’s wrath completely, and by the time he was nine, he was never seen without a hoodie in school and had perfected every excuse he’d been told to repeat when asked why he could not take it off or why he would come in on some days with a split lip.
He was small for his size, quiet, and took great pains not to be noticed, which had the opposite effect of making him the target of every other larger child looking to blow off steam, and he became good at running.
Really good.
There was no running from home however, home where the walls were insulated so neighbours wouldn’t hear what was happening within, and while some days would be better than others, there wasn’t a moment that he didn’t break into a cold sweat whenever he heard his father’s footsteps approaching his room.
With his mother unable to bear more children due to an illness, his father furiously continued with the campaign (sometimes the carrot was used  though mostly it was the stick) to mold him into the son the man wanted, so he could make the cut during the streaming process prior to high school where students would be sorted into their future occupational classes.
What support he might have had from his mother in his young years also evaporated, as she pushed him to be the son his father needed him to be to keep the peace, putting the weight of the household’s sanctity on his slight  shoulders.
He was forced into marksmanship lessons (where his first attempt to fire a gun went awry and left him with a deep slide bite wound), multiple self-defence classes to toughen him up (helpful for bullies whenever they didn’t come in packs), and a series of workouts to encourage a growth spurt so he could catch up to other potential cadet  candidates.
The little sliver of hope that he would be good enough to make the junior police  cadets went up in smoke when he was assigned to the manual class instead, owing to his size and his visceral aversion to handling firearms.
Branded as worthless and only good for paying off the ‘debt’ accumulated from the classes his father had earlier forced him into, Ben entered high school with his self-esteem scrapping at topsoil and digging deeper, and had it not been for a chance encounter with another boy who was evading a group of military-classed students intending to instil a lesson about talking back to those higher in the hierarchy, it might have dug itself into a grave.
The boy, who introduced himself as Guillermo ‘Memo’ Gutierrez after Ben dutifully sent the bullies scattering, was also assigned to the manual class and both of them  decided to stick together for safety in numbers.
Ben had ruefully accepted his lot in life after years of being broken and beaten down. Memo, however, had a loving and supportive family; this kept the spark of his defiance to the system alive and he kindled it in Ben’s by giving his friend a safe space to escape to whenever the situation at Ben’s home became too intense.
Among Memo and Memo’s family was the first time where Ben opened up about his interests, could speak freely and found acceptance for what he liked and who he was.
The desire to reclaim the things he loved pushed him to seek out part-time work, which he eventually found after befriending a girl, Charlie Watson, who had helped put an end to the harassment he and Memo endured at school by playing the hierarchy to their favour and wielding her Navy ‘prime-pick’ status.
That she actually wanted nothing to do with the class she was pushed into (Navy) and wished to pursue a career in automotives despite parental objections was something that she and Ben bonded over, and she brought him to the scrapyard her uncle ran where he found work sorting out car parts and helping perform repairs.
He began to pursue art and dance in secret with part of his pay (keeping his sketchbooks and supplies at Memo’s place and taking dance lessons under the guise of after-class study sessions), while saving up the rest and planning for the day he would eventually break free of his father, ‘debt’ or no ‘debt’.
During this time, he subtly packed away important items and was careful not to anger his old man more than his mere presence already did on a good day——something which would become increasingly hard when the Clampdown began.
He would hear his father rant over the dinner table about how ungrateful the protesters who were made up mostly of the Manual Class were, how they weren’t worth the safety net they were demanding for the job they were doing, how they needed to know their place.
He would hear, as time went by, about how his father would beat the ones who were arrested, and more than once, how he would be killed if he, as the man’s son, ever did something as stupid and insolent as that.
He bit his tongue through all this and reluctantly refused Memo’s offer to join a peaceful protest for better wages and workplace compensation.
The protest turned violent after police assaulted those taking part however, and as he watched the news hoping to see if Memo was alright, he saw his friend among those who were tossed into the dreaded black vans to be brought over to stations for interrogation.
His father, fielding a call from a colleague about the batch of protesters being brought in, told them to separate the adults from the teenagers, who would be easier to break, and it was at this point Ben’s spark turned into a bonfire.
As his father got dressed for work, he crept into the man’s study and managed to figure out the combination to the safe where the man’s gun was kept, retrieving it and aiming it at the police sergeant who came in and demanded for him to stand down.
Ben, in turn, demanded for his father to call the station and have Memo released, and when his father laughed at his audacity, mocked the way his hands shook while he was holding the gun and threatened to beat him senseless once this was all over, he shot the man close enough to the head to clip an ear to prove a point, before repeating his demand again.
This time, his father complied and called the station to order for Memo’s release; Ben’s relief however was all the momentary lapse of guard that his father needed to rush in and attempt to wrest the gun back, and in the struggle, he accidentally shot his father in the knee.
Under the hail of threats on how he was going to die once his father got hands on him, Ben flung the gun where the man could not reach, grabbed one of the bags he had secretly packed and ran out of the house to the screams of his mother.
He called Charlie and explained the situation to her, as both of them made their way to the station where his father worked to pick up Memo, who was confused about the state of affairs.
At 18 years, Ben was now a fugitive who could no longer go home; Memo brought him to the manual class district where Ben could hide among allies, and it was here that he spent a few months in hiding, disguised as a manual worker.
However, still fully terrified at the thought of his father eventually hunting him down within the confines of the city, he made plans to leave and head to the West Coast, far away from any chance that he would meet his old man by accident on the streets.
To his surprise,  Charlie and Memo elected to join him in the move, and the three of them left together on a  Greyhound bus; Him to escape his father, Charlie to escape her future with a military complex which her father died for and Memo to protect his family after he was named a person of interest in the protest.
However, they were forced to stop in Texas when police were inspecting passing buses for runaway Cold Constructs. Here, they met Ian Hart (Ironhide), a rancher secretly helping Cold  Constructs escape ownership by crossing over into Mexico to start new lives.
Ian, seeing how they ran from the bus, assumed they were young Cold Constructs and immediately took them in and offered them shelter; when they explained their situation, he kept his offer, letting them stay until they had their plans sorted out and paying them for work done on his ranch in the meantime.
All three of them grew fond of him and spent a month working on his ranch, helping out equally between his longhorn cattle and the Cold Constructs who would come in scared, starving, and seeking refuge from bounty hunters looking to bring them back to the establishments they were assigned to.
Someone however, had gotten wind of Ian’s clandestine operation, and the man was arrested during a midnight raid, though not before he flung Ben, Charlie and Memo into a secret basement with three Cold Constructs who he told them to help cross the border the next day.
They did as they were told, but decided to return to the ranch to figure out how to help Ian, and when they came back there, it was to come face to face with two strangers who were also seeking Ian after seeing him on the news.
These strangers introduced themselves as Omar Parvez (Optimus Prime), Jace Zayden (Jazz) and Preston Wan (Prowl), members of a rebellion that had sprung up in the UK, and upon hearing that they had been with Ian for the past month, requested for their help in tracking the man down to save him from a terrible fate at the hands of government interrogators.
Realising that they were now caught up in something bigger than they ever imagined, Ben nonetheless accepted the request, unwilling to stand back and do nothing while a good man suffered.
Youth, size and a lifetime of abuse would not be an obstacle to him helping someone else, especially with his best friends  by his side.

After Ricks disappearance (twd) and Fixing the plane era(ftwd)
F/I- first initial
Warnings- language, implied smut
a/n- i wrote this a long time ago, its been posted on on wattpad for a while so i decided to post it on here… Enjoy!
Rick was gone, things were falling apart. Your dad, Daryl left the communities to join search parties all the way until he was the last one searching. Michonne and you wanted to keep looking but her pregnancy was to far along, and you basically took care of her and Judith. The atmosphere feels familiar just like when Carl died, you and him were best friends, you supported him in every one of this decisions even helped him get with Enid.
But this felt worse.
The person who has made sure everybody survives is dead. The man who was a mentor to you, the man who saved your father in countless occasions is dead. Morgan left almost 2 years ago and nobody heard from him. You knew Rick and him were close, he helped Rick when he came out of hospital. He deserves to know what happened and you will make sure of it.
-
"I want to go out and see the world for myself and I want to find Morgan." You said at dinner to Michonne and surprisingly who joined your dad.
"Excuse me what, you want to leave a whole state and travel to Texas just to see the world and find Morgan and for what?" Asked Michonne raising an eyebrow. Your dad sighed and leaned back in his chair.
"I agree kid. Why?" He asked looking at you.
"Ok first I'm pretty sure I'm 18, I'm supposed to be enrolling for college planning out my life, seeing what else is out there. I can take of myself of the time I have been surging in this world I can make it I'm sure if it. And second all of us know how much Rick meant to Morgan, I can go to Texas and tell him what happened maybe he will even come back even if it's for a little bit." You said enthusiastically. The adults shook their heads taking in the information.
"I'll think about it." Said your dad and Michonne nodded going back to eating.
"There's gotta be another reason you wanna leave." Said Daryl as you walked to your home.
"I already said why Dad." You said looking ahead
"No, you didn't I know ma own kid." He said stopping and he grabbed your arm so you would stop as well making you roll your eyes.
"I hate the atmosphere that is going on, it's like when Carl died but worse and I hate it. I just need to go, I need fresh air Dad, i need to see whats out there maybe even help people." You said throwing your arms in the air looking up at the sky. Daryl smiled, you would always talk about helping people when you were just 4 years old. But now that the apocalypse happened he never thought he'd actually have to let you be on your own anytime soon, maybe it was time.
"Alrigh I'll talk to Michonne tomorrow, I'll get ya that trip." He said and you smiled before pulling him into a big hug.
"Thank you father." You said and he chuckled.
-
"Ok y/n, ya have a high range walkie(i know those don't exist for very long distances)for when you get farther and farther away from ere and you have food to last a month or so and water for a week or two. And gas in the car to last Ya couple miles at least to get out of Virginia. A map, a gun with 2 rounds, and please try to put notes or something out there to tell me your alive, please I don't want to go out lookin for ya. Cant loose you kid." Said your dad who it was clear was very nervous on letting you leave.
"I'll be fine dad, I have been taught from the best of the best." You said and then you saw his eyes water.
"No, no dad don't cry because then I will. We have to be strong i promise I'll be fine. We agreed on 2 months if I'm gone more than that or if you don't hear from me when those months come to an end you come looking for me." You said holding back the tears.
"I know kid, I know it's just ya growin to fast." He said looking at you.
"Fuck it come ere kid." He said and pulled you in for a tight hug. You hugged him back hard, soaking up his affection, which definitely doesn't come everyday. You pulled away and looked up at him.
"I'll be fine dad ok, I'll be back." You said and backed up, everybody stood around and you waved before looking at Michonne and pointed at her belly.
"I better be godmother when I come back." You said smiling
"Yes ma'am." She said with a smile on her face. You got in the car and turned it on, you had some doubts on leaving but knew this has to happen. Your dad came to the window and leaned on it and you took in a breathe.
"Please don't loose yourself, if you have to stop stop. Don't leave the people who care about you." You told your dad and he sighed knowing exactly what you meant by that. He was looking for Rick so much it was taking him away from you. Daryl stepped back and you smiled at everybody and waved.
"I'll be back in 2 months I promise." You announced and they all smiled, you put the car in drive and drove off watching the gates close behind you.
"Y/n can you hear me." Your dad said over the walkie and you grabbed it.
"Yeah dad I can hear you."
-
You got to Tennessee right before the car stopped. You sighed and looked around to see if there was anything a car or a store. You grabbed the walkie and took in a breathe, please work, you thought.
"Dad can you hear me?" You asked and heard static then his voice.
"Ya I can, ya alright?" He asked
"Ya I'm fine, I'm in Tennessee but I think that soon probably a couple more miles you won't be able to hear me so im starting with the notes." You said and held back tears.
"Alright I love ya." You heard him sniffile before the walkie went out.
"I love you to dad." You said and out the walkie away and grabbed the pack. You opened the pack and grabbed the note book and pen. You wrote, STILL ALIVE- F/I, and looked for a place to put it. After an hour you found a gas station and put the note on the counter under a rock.
"Dad not sure if you can hear me but, if you do come for me I'm leaving notes in stores." You put the walkie back and grabbed your knife and stabbed a walker that came for you.
-
Almost 13 days (that's what google said). 13 days and nights of running and hiding from herds. Avoiding people, some you had to kill. Your feet hurt even after taking a days break in Arkansas but you finally have reached Texas. Not knowing where Morgan is you decided to use the walkie every few miles in. You looked at the map and Texas was huge, it could take a few weeks to find him, if he is even alive. But you needed a break so you needed to find somewhere safe. You found a house that looked safe enough so you cleared it, only 3 walkers where in it.
You set up a fire and out a can of beans over the fire. You grabbed the map and decided where you should head to next.
(A/n- I read that season 5 of fear is filmed in New Braunfels, Texas and its near Austin soon)
Austin, Texas, in school in Alexandria the teacher said Austin is pretty popular. Morgan could be there so that's where you would start. You took a 2 days rest and even found a lake to bathe in, after getting supplies you made your way to Austin. You left a note at the WELCOME TO TEXAS sign and left another at store the another. There was a hotel a little father form the house and out another there.
After a day or so you were closer to Austin and decided it's time to try with the Walkie.
"Morgan, it's Y/n I'm in Texas, I don't know if your alive but I'm here." You said and put the walkie away after no answer. You walked for what seemed hours when you saw the Austin sight and grabbed the walkie.
"Morgan I'm in Austin." You said into the walkie and decided to start trying different channels as you repeated the question though each. You tried the last channel and was about to put it away when you heard voices and your heart sped up.
"Morgan?" You asked and kept moving the circle to hear it more clearly.
"John, June you there." Someone said, it was a deep voice and noticed it was Morgan's voice.
"Morgan, Morgan, it Y/n Dixon from Alexandria, please hear me." You said pleading to yourself.
"Y/n wha-." He started. "What are you doing out here so far, where are you?" He asked.
"Umm I'm by the Welcome to Austin sign. Where are you maybe I can find you." You said and out down to the ground pulling the map out."
"I have two people close to you y/n, don't be alarmed their names are John and June." He said and you sighed.
"Ok." You said wearily.
"John, June did you hear that." Asked Morgan and a female bodice came through.
"We hear you Morgan, on our way Y/n." A man said.
"Hang tight y/n." Said Morgan and you sat back. You grabbed a paper and pen and wrote. FOUND MORGAN. You sat there for a while when a car approached and stopped next to you, you raised you knife reading to attack of nesassary. The window went down and the man and woman out there hands up.
"Hold on hold on young lady I'm John and this is June, we come to get you." John said and you hesitated.
"We won't hurt you i promise." June said. You nodded and grabbed your stuff and opened the car. You sat down and watched John and June's every move.
"So where did you come from?" Asked John and you sighed.
"Long story." You breathed out a laugh and they smiled.
"Guess we will know about it after you meet Al." Said June and you cocked your head to the side.
"Who's Al?" You asked wearily.
"She was journalist before and she interviews everybody on their stories." Said John and you nodded.
-
"Morgan, who is y/n?" Asked Alicia as she and Luciana approached him.
"She's comes from Virginia and Alexandria like me, she's around your age Alicia." Said Morgan smiling and Alicia rolled her eyes.
-
The car came to a stop out some gates and they opened. The car pulled in and people crowded around. John and June got out and your door opened revealing Morgan. You got out of the car and hugged him before pulling away to look over all the people. It was a whole bunch of little kids then a whole bunch of adults.
You looked around and your eyes fell on a very pretty girl with brown hair and hazel eyes. Her eyes where on you but they seemed defensive like yours at the moment. You felt uncomfortable and Morgan said to clear a path so you could sit down.
-
"I have been walking for almost 20 days, Car broke down when I reached Tennessee." You said to Al and she smiled. Everybody else was sitting around eating dinner as they heard your story how you arrived here.
"You have any family, back in Virginia?" She asked and you nodded.
"I have my dad, and more people who became my family, we have lost some but they will never be replaced." You said.
"Lover?" She asked and you shook your head no.
"Nope pretty much a virgin." You said and they all laughed.
Alicia started at you slowly relaxing that you were not a threat, all of them did.
"Why did you come here?" Asked Al and you sighed.
"I was 12 when the world started, I'm like 18 now. I'm supposed to be enrolling into college now, planning out my life going to go see what's out there. The apocalypse may have happened but I still want that chance. And Morgan I need to tell you something, privately." You said and he looked at you concerned. He gave Al a look and she shut the camera off then got the film. He stood up and you followed, he stopped just a few feet from everybody and waited for you to speak.
"Ricks gone." You said. "Gone not dead, just gone it's like he disappeared." You said looking down, thinking about that day.
"Wha- what how, what happened." He asked.
"Bridge explosion, he saved everybody." You said and Morgan nodded then you heard someone clear their throat.
"I'm sorry Morgan." Said June, you looked at him confused.
"I told them about Virginia, they how me and Rick go back." He said and you nodded.
"They haven't the body?" He asked and you shook your head.
"No, my dad, he has been looking out there by the bridge everyday, Michonne is pregnant with Ricks kid and she's about to give birth so she can't look anymore. And I was practically taking care of Judith so I couldn't either. And others have their own thing." You said and Morgan nodded again before walking off. You sighed and and smiled at the group.
"Anything else you guys want to know about me?" You asked and Al came forward.
"I want to know about the king and the tiger." Said Al and you nodded walking back to the fire.
-
You told everybody what you needed to know. Your guard was down long ago, you kept sneaking glances at the girl who's name is Alicia and she looked back at you as well. You got ready for bed when you were approached by Alicia.
"We never had a formal introduction, I'm Alicia Clark." She said holding her hand out and you shook it.
"Y/n Dixon."
You talked the night until you fell asleep from exhaustion. You learned about her family, all the things she has been through and you shared hers. She told you about her boyfriends and you felt a pang of jealousy, 'Gosh y/n you don't even know this girl,' you told your self. You fell asleep after an hour and Alicia put a blanket over you and whispered goodnight and left. You woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and got up. You looked in the mirror and braided your hair into two. You went outside and the people started building some type of plane. You approached Alicia as she was talking through a microphone looking at parts. She saw you approach and she smiled, you then looked up and saw a plane.
"Hey what's with the plane, didn't see that last night?" You asked Lucianna as you approached her, she smiled and sighed.
"A few weeks ago we were on a plane and we crashed landed a few miles from here, we actually came from here at first so we came back. Those kids they left biters out there tied up to keep us away, because it's not safe. We gained their trust and we are building this plane so we can get out of this place." She said sun you nodded you looked over the people and your eyes fell on him.
"Dwight?" You said sternly and he looked at you eyes widening.
"Mini Dixon, what are you doing out here?" He asked and you glared at him grabbing your knife when you felt a hang go to it, you saw Morgan shaking his head to stand down.
"What are you doing here, I thought you were dead?" You asked him.
"I'm lookin for Sherry, my wife, not trying to cause any trouble." He said and raised his good arm as a surrender. You nodded and stood down every body who watched went back to what they were doing. Alicia came in-front of you with a concerned look.
"So what's your story with him?" She asked
"He served the man who killed two people of my family and kept my father in a cage keeping him like an animal." You said looking at her with hard eyes.
You lended you knowledge on fixing things with the plane. It's clear they were grateful on your help, you fixed the engine to the best of your ability.
"Y/n want to come with me to a ware house, we need more parts." Said Alicia and you nodded. You made your way down and smiled at her.
-
Small Alicia POV
Gosh she is so beautiful. I met her yesterday and I feel like I have known her since forever. Call me crazy but I'm starting to get feelings for her already.
-
Regular POV
The butterflies in your stomach were almost painful when you were near Alicia. She was gorgeous, you felt like you could tell her everything and you almost have from Atlanta to now. You grabbed your backpack, emptying it out of anything that was worth leaving just encase. You took your knives and gun and left to find Alicia. She was waiting outside a car and got in when she saw you. You sat in the drivers seat and looked to see if anybody else was going, luckily no one was there.
"Anybody else going?" You asked and she shook her head.
"Do you have a problem with it, because I can get someone to come with us may-." She started but you shook your head no.
"I have no problem at all." You said and winked making her cheeks flush red. She drove to the warehouse and she told you the parts to look out for as well as food. You took out two walkers with your knives and looked back to see Alicia looking at you with awe.
"Never taken out biters with knives really." She said chuckling. You looked down and saw a metal pole that was sharpened at the edges.
"Well I mean that pole is badass, where did you get it, might need to get myself one." You asked.
"A water park." She said smiling and you nodded.
"Alright tell you what I teach you how to fight with knifes and we stay a little longer to find a pole similar to yours. Deal?" you asked holding your hand out. She thought for a second and took your hand and shook it.
"Ok come here stand in-front of me." You said as two walkers approached you both. She stood infront of you and you handed her your knives, you stood close to her.
"Now, you going to want to dodge them, go in between them. Remember you have to use strength to kill them just cant push it in. I'll be here just encase." You said. The walkers go closer and Alicia tightened her grip on the knives.
"Go you said." And she ducked as they swung at her, you backed up out of reach then one by one they were both put out.
"That was great, remember you gotta faster and if you have someone behind you, let's say as kid you have to push them back, maybe use you leg or arm. Even an adult if they don't notice you have to act quick." You said and she nodded cleaning the knives.
"Thanks I'll definitely use that, after I find knives." She said.
"If you can get a hunting knife there much stronger and lighter." You said and she nodded. You found a majority of the parts needed and headed back to the car.
"I found this." She said and handed you a metal pole with holes in it. You grabbed it and smiled at you, you got one of your knives and it's holster and handed it to her.
"Thank you Alicia, as a true thanks here's one of my knives, work with one just for now you will go better I just know of it." You said and she smiled brightly.
"Thank you, now let's get back and we can sharpen the edge." She said and started the car.
You kissed her cheek and pulled back getting a red face. You looked at her though the corner of your eye and saw her face was red.
-
When you arrived back to the truck stop, she helped sharpen the metal pole. You and her had a flirty thing going on for the rest of the month until you started feeling sexual tension start to arise. The stares would last long as well as lingering touches, she thought you how to use the pole and you taught her knives. Everybody shared their knowledge with you and you did with them.
The plane was just about finished when you realized if they finish the plane you may loose them, loose her.
"So, where do you guys plan on going after getting the rest of your group?" You asked Alicia as she ate dinner, sitting on the ground.
"Not sure, definitely leave this area." She said and you nodded seeing how bad the area is, you sat down next to her and she offered some of her dinner but you waved it off.
"Maybe fly to Virginia." She said lowly and you looked at her like she was crazy.
"I'm just playing can't risk another crash, especially where the girl I likes home is." She said and looked at you. Your face went red and the butterflies in your stomach, she grabbed your chin and pulled your face closer to hers.
"Y/n Dixon I like you a lot, it's ok if you don't but-." She said but you silenced her with a kiss. She pulled you in harder making you moan, she set her dinner down and you pushed her on the ground, straddling her. You looked up and saw there were people still around so you pulled away.
"Want to take me to your tent?" You asked and she nodded, you got off her and held your hand out which she gladly took. She led you to her tent opening it and pulled you inside. You slid your shirt off and she did the same.
She looked at yours left arm and stomach and noticed a beautiful tattoos.
(This but all around the forearm)
(Something like that)
"Didn't know you had tattoos." She said and scratched her head.
"Oh yeah... do they bother you?" You asked.
"No no they are actually really hot." She said making you blush. You walked over to her and pushed her onto the makeshift bed.
"Wait crap I've never had sex with-." She started and you kissed her.
"It's ok, I'll teach you." You said and she looked at you confused.
"After Carl died, his girlfriend, Enid, and me got close and we ended up in bed together. It was just one night didn't mean anything." You said and stroked her hair.
"Didn't say that in the interview." She said and leaned back letting you crawl on top of her.
"Some things are just not to be meant to be said." You said and winked at her. You went down and captured her lips, she raised her hands and caressed your sides. You laid down on her putting your weight on her body making her moan.
"Just relax let me do the work." You said and trailed down her stomach.

This is my very first post, so I hope I do good! Please give me some feedback, I would love to hear it.
The Umbrella Academy Life Swap:
The Hargreaves switch lives instead of powers.
• Ben ran away at the age of 13 and got lost in the dimension inside his stomach, the Handler eventually finds him and recruits him to the Commission. He works as a super powered agent that saves his victims from his sadistic partners, Hazel and Cha-Cha. Ben doesn’t come back in a 13 year old body like Five, he’s the same age as his siblings, and Ben does know about the apocalypse and has the eye. And unlike Five, Ben actually tells his siblings about the apocalypse and how he was a super powered assassin that acted as the kidnapper and lookout. When the Hargreaves were 13, Ben had tried to talk to Five out of time traveling because logically, he may not know where he would end up, but Five wouldn’t listen to him and started arguing with him. The fighting got so loud that Vanya and Klaus eventually got pulled into the argument as well and it turned into a fistfight with all 4 of them. All of them ended up with scratches and bruises on their faces, a few chunks of their hair missing, and cleaning the mansion floors and ceilings from top to bottom and every single room without using their powers as a punishment for fighting by Reginald. At 2 am, Ben woke up after a nightmare and felt bad about getting Vanya and Klaus into trouble when they didn’t even started the fight in the first place and tried to go to their rooms to apologize, but he never did because the Horror became restless and angry that it didn’t get anything to eat and wanted to make Ben feel how trapped they felt when Reginald always had them kill people, so Ben’s tentacles grabbed him and opened the portal to their world, which was the apocalypse, and trapped him there for 10 years until the Handler came and recruited him and was never seen after that day again. Because of Ben’s disappearance, Vanya and Klaus blamed Five and his ambition for time travel since it was him who argued with Ben in the first place and Five had never forgotten it. Ben hopes that Klaus and Vanya would forgive Five in time. Ben read Klaus’s book about what happened to his family when he disappeared, he read about Luther running away to Dallas to forget about the Umbrella Academy, about Diego staying at the Academy to keep fighting crime, about Allison’s death and how she’s now mute, how Klaus is trying to get sober and stabling himself, how Five became a professor at a prestigious university and a vigilante, and how Vanya took a dark path into alcoholism.
• Five became a lowly-paid physics professor at community college after he was fired for punching a colleague at prestigious university and he’s also a vigilante, but his fiancé Delores doesn’t like it though. Five met Delores at a professor’s conference in Canada where she was presenting her findings on the science of gems and geodes since she’s a mineralogy professor (someone who teaches the study of rocks and crystals) and where he was discussing the possibility of time travel. Those two immediately hit it off and are now engaged, Five proposed to her by using different types of gems to spell it out. Five uses his powers of teleportation to be a mysterious assassin and hero.
• Klaus is a dancer at a local theater and he has somewhat control over his powers, but if the ghosts get too loud, he smokes cigarettes instead of weed so he wouldn’t be high at a recital. He became friends with Leonard Peabody aka Harold Jenkins when Klaus was 23 after his family abandoned him for writing an auto-biography about him having a power that traumatizes him and what the Umbrella Academy was really like behind the scenes, it’s called “The Ghosts Inside the Umbrella Academy: the life of Klaus Hargreaves”. Harold makes him more isolated by threatening to kill himself and haunting Klaus for the rest of his life if Klaus tries to leave him. Since Klaus never had someone ,besides Ben, care for him and give him a home and food since he was living at a homeless shelter when he met Leonard, Klaus thinks that this type of friendship is normal and doesn’t think twice about it. In his book, Klaus portrays his remaining siblings as people who knew about his drug abuse, but didn’t do anything about it; he portrayed Luther as a hotheaded daddy’s boy who was treated like the Golden child, Diego as a momma’s boy with daddy issues always trying to compete with Luther for everything, Allison as his favorite sister who was taken too soon, who’s death was the final straw that tore apart their family, and who acts as a silent ghost mother since she’s mute (no one believes him that he can see her though), he portrays Five as the cause of Ben’s disappearance and as a heartless gremlin who doesn’t care about his siblings enough to see that his siblings are hurting and have real problems of their own, he portrays Ben as his kind-hearted and favorite brother who was the glue that hold their family together and who’s disappearance drove a wedge between the family, and he portrays Vanya as his ordinary violin playing sister that desperately wanted to belong with their family in any way she could, but turned to alcohol when she learned that her dream of being in the Umbrella Academy was crushed by Reginald and who had the easy life of not being exploited by their father for her powers like he was. Vanya actually confronted him about her portrayal in the book and they said some things that they shouldn’t have, but they eventually forgave each other and Vanya moved in with him and Leonard a month later. Klaus didn’t mind that Vanya and Leonard were dating, but saw a striking difference between Vanya and Leonard’s relationship and Vanya and Sissy’s relationship when Vanya came back from the 60s. With Leonard, Vanya was walking on eggshells and isolated from her brothers and couldn’t be herself around him, but with Sissy, Klaus saw that Vanya was happier and could be herself around Sissy and loves Harlan like her own son. Klaus was the one to kill Leonard with his powers by having Allison choke him to death when he badly hurt Harlan with a gun and tried to drown Sissy.
• Allison dies at the age of 17 when her throat was slit by a serial killer on a mission and now acts like Klaus’s mother by always keeping him sober enough to conjure her and giving him healthy advice, but ultimately going along with almost every crazy idea Klaus has. Since she has a slit throat she can’t talk, but she does sign language instead and like Ben, she ages like Klaus, but still wears the same outfit she was buried in: a yellow and green striped dress with a blue flora printed jacket with red heels and a pair of black leggings. She HATES Leonard Peabody because he’s manipulating Klaus into isolation from their family and she tries to get Klaus out of their toxic friendship, but Klaus always denies Leonard’s abuse. She misses her siblings so much that she’s deeply hurt that she had ignored their problems for so long.
• Diego stayed at the Umbrella Academy because he didn’t know how to be anything else but a hero, he also didn’t want to Mom behind, so he began reading and writing code to free Grace from her restrictive rules that Reginald put on her, but after his accident that had him have scars all over his body and face to the point where he lost his left eye and his face is almost beyond recognition, Diego left the Academy when he realized that there was no point in staying and became a recluse in his good friend, Eudora’s house. Unlike Luther, Diego doesn’t have the monkey body because I just couldn’t see that type of body build on David Castaneda. Diego met Eudora at a local boxing gym, Eudora was impressed Diego’s fight skilled and was shocked to know that he was Diego “The Kraken” Hargreaves because Reginald told the whole world including their city and Luther, Klaus, Five, and Vanya that Diego died in an explosion a year ago when he had his accident. Diego ,of course, was pissed that his own father told everyone and his siblings that he was dead instead of saying that he survived the mission and was just scarred for the rest of his life, but he wasn’t surprised that Reginald did that to keep up his reputation. Him and Eudora immediately became fast friends and roommates at her house since Diego had nowhere to go when he left the Academy 6 months ago and was living at an run-down and moldy apartment. They actually tried dating at one point, but because of their conflicted personalities, they decided to just stay friends and roommates.
• 3 months after Allison’s funeral, Luther ran away to escape his father’s tight gripped and cold stare and the house that reminded him of his lovely yet dead Allison when he was 18 years old. He ended up in Dallas, Texas where he became a famous boxer named King Kong since he’s so huge and muscular, met and married a successful TV salesman named Elliott Gussman, and they adopted an African American baby girl who they named Claire Allison Gussman. Luther decided to take Elliott’s last name ,even though it was Luther who proposed to him, to cut his ties off from the Umbrella Academy and the man who turned 6 children into soldiers and who blamed the death of an innocent 17 year old girl that happened to be his adopted daughter on his 4 sons and 1 daughter instead of the person who killed her in the first place. Luther and Elliott had a happy marriage for 3 years until Klaus’s book came out that exposed the secrets of Luther’s past and made him into a hotheaded bully with daddy issues who followed Reginald around like a eager puppy trying to get a reward and a coward ran away from his problems instead of facing them. Elliott was furious at Luther because when Luther came to Dallas he lied about being from a mob family that did all types of shady businesses and that he ran away because his “family” couldn’t understand and accept him being bisexual instead of telling him truth about his abusive father who raised them to be child soldiers, how his brother Diego would always tried to be better than him to their father’s approval, how his brother Five was too smart for his own good, how he loved his sister Allison more than he should, how he tried to forget about Ben’s disappearance, how he ignored Klaus’s drug abuse, and how he denied Vanya’s problem with alcohol for so long. When Elliott read Klaus’s book about what Luther did and who he was, Elliott immediately started arguing with him about his true identity. Luther tried to deny it, but couldn’t because he loves Elliott too much to even hurt him in a way. Elliott actually threatened to separate from Luther when their arguments gotten too much, but he didn’t and instead drove Luther and him to see a marriage counselor so that they could actually talk to each other instead of just arguing. Luther and Elliott eventually made up, but because of the book, Luther is the one that’s more pissed about it and at Klaus for almost making Elliott lose his marriage to him. Btw, Claire is 6 years old in 2019 and was adopted as a baby in 2013 by the Gussman family when Luther was 24 and Elliott was 30, a year after Klaus’s book was published.
• Vanya was introduced to alcohol at 13 years old when Five and Klaus were drinking 2 cases of beer that Five stole, Klaus persuaded her to take a sip of his beer and she hasn’t stop drinking since. Besides the violin and her pills, alcohol was the thing that defined Vanya and her personality. Vanya thought that no one would care about what happened to her since she was so ordinary and isolated that she dumped all of her pills in the garbage disposal and drinks her problems away. With her new coping mechanism, Vanya’s personality changed from quiet and meek to sarcastic and drunk. Five and Vanya left the Academy for college together, but ended up separated by the time they were 20 because Vanya kept drinking her tutition away. By the age of 22, Vanya ended up being homeless because she got kicked out of her apartment for not paying her rent with the money she used to buy alcohol. She still plays her violin, but only for cash instead of at The Icarus Theatre. She also read Klaus’s book and was upset about her portrayal as his alcoholic sister who had an easy life of being ordinary and never going on missions because she doesn’t have a power that can’t be turned off willingly or that can kill somebody; she cried and drank her misery away for 3 weeks until she confronted Klaus about the book, they both admittedly said things that they regretted, but ended up apologizing to each other in the end. She also meets and dates Leonard like in the show and instead of Allison finding the truth about Leonard, it’s Five and Delores who both tried to convince Klaus and Vanya that Leonard is a snake, but they both denied it. Vanya ends up living with Klaus and Leonard when her and Klaus made up when she’s 23. In my first draft I made it Five and Delores that Vanya ended up rooming with, but I wanted to make Vanya and Klaus isolated further by Leonard manipulating both of them. When the house is attacked by Hazel and Cha-Cha, Vanya is the one that’s kidnapped and tortured by them for 2 days and is rescued by Eudora who arrives with back up this time, but is injured in the spine by Cha-Cha. Vanya takes the briefcase and time travels to October 12, 1963 where she ends up falling in love with a woman named Sissy Cooper, a widowed housewife who accidentally ran Vanya over with her car, and becoming a nanny/second mother to Sissy’s 5 year old autistic son named Harlan. Vanya stayed with them until 1966 when a neighbor reported their “unholy” relationship to the police, so to keep them safe Vanya used the briefcase to go back to 2019 with Sissy and Harlan.
—When Vanya gets back to 2019 with Sissy and Harlan, no one believes her story except for Klaus, who promises to her relationship with Sissy a secret from Leonard, and Ben, who was the only one that was worried about her whereabouts in the first place besides Klaus. Vanya tries to become sober for the sake of Harlan not being afraid of her when she gets drunk and for Sissy and her’s relationship since her late husband was an abusive alcoholic, instead of conjuring the one she loves’s ghost like Klaus did in the show. When Vanya was dating Leonard, he would constantly have her and Klaus practice their music and dance at 12am-6am to train them more and if one of them mess up, he’ll have them locked up in a dark and tiny closet with only one dimly lit lightbulb and they would have to balance on a stool on one leg for the duration of their training. Leonard would also take his anger out on Klaus and Vanya if he had a bad day at his shop, which would leave Klaus with bruises on his arms and a black eye and Vanya with scratches on her back and bruises on her neck. (Trigger Warning for those who can’t handle stories with domestic violence) When the 3 of them were 27, Leonard gotten pissed at how independent and successful Klaus and Vanya were getting in their lives by Klaus getting paid more from his dance recitals and Vanya going to AA meetings more to the point of being sober for 3 weeks that he took his frustrations about losing his control out on them by punching and slapping Klaus and choking and scratching Vanya, but thankfully a neighbor called the police after hearing their screams and Klaus and Vanya were taken to the hospital and Leonard was arrested, but unfortunately Klaus and Vanya bailed Leonard out due to dropping charges against him as an apologize.
Here are the things that I changed
• Klaus and Vanya both cause the apocalypse by combining their powers at Klaus’s dance recital with Vanya’s violin because Leonard isolated them from everyone, manipulated them to the point of denying the abuse he put them through, and because of him trying to kill Sissy and Harlan for taking Vanya away from him.
• Five and Delores tries to explain to Vanya and Klaus that Leonard only liked them to get revenge on the Umbrella Academy and it was him that kidnapped Sissy and Harlan to get them to come back to him, but Five gets stabbed in the stomach by Klaus’s new found telekinesis and Vanya makes Five and Delores’s apartment collapsed after knocking Delores out. When the apartment collapses, Allison , who’s coperal at the moment, immediately grabs both a bleeding Five and an unconscious Delores and saves them from death and takes them to the Academy to be treated by Grace. Delores unfortunately loses her right arm to a huge piece of shrapnel lodged into it that’s cutting the circulation.
• When Ben goes to the apocalypse for the first time, he finds Luther with the eye clutched in his hand, Diego wrapped in black bandages holding a woman with a long black ponytail (Eudora), Five in an Armani suit with his eyes opened, and a red headed woman in a polka dotted blouse and a black skirt holding one of Five’s hand (Delores). All of them are dead and Ben finds out that they’re his brothers by the faded black umbrella tattoo on Luther’s wrist when Ben was inspecting the bodies. The bodies that Ben couldn’t find were Allison, Vanya, and Klaus’s, but after learning about Allison’s death from Klaus’s book, Ben kept looking for Vanya and Klaus.
• Vanya gets her burst of powers when Harlan almost drown in the summer of ‘64 in the lake 10 miles away from the farm. Harlan was playing with a beach ball when it got away from him and he tried to get it while Vanya and Sissy were cuddling in the sand and a wave pulled him under the water. Sissy started crying and panicking when Vanya couldn’t get Harlan to the surface, but after a minute of silence she was shocked and relieved to see Vanya holding Harlan in her arms while she’s floating in the lake with glowing white eyes. As soon as they get to shore, Vanya gives Harlan cpr which transfers her newly found powers to him like in the canon.
• Diego doesn’t show himself to his siblings until episode 3 when Hazel and Cha-Cha attack the house because everyone thinks he’s dead and he’s a recluse. He finds out about the attack from Grace (mom) when she calls him from her bedroom phone since they talk every day so that he can know what’s going on and because of these calls, Diego knows about Ben being back, how the funeral went, and how much each of his siblings changed over the years.
• In episode 1, since the siblings’ lives are switched around, the way they found out that Reginald died is slightly different from canon. Luther finds out from the press badgering him after he won a fight, Diego finds out from Eudora when she comes home after work and turns on the Tv in a flash, Klaus finds out during rehearsal on the radio that him and his group are listening to to practice the recital while Allison is dancing in the shadows behind him when the news suddenly comes on, Five finds out from his phone on social media when one of his students sent him the news link after Five teleports to his apartment after saving a 12 year old boy from being abducted by a creep and almost killing said creep by beating him senseless, and Vanya finds out from a bar Tv when she and Leonard are on a date. She immediately calls Klaus who was immediately going to call her to tell her the same thing when he was done rehearsals.
• Just to clarify, since Vanya spent 3 years with Sissy and Harlan in Dallas from 1963-1966, she is 33 years old and Harlan is 8 years old because he was 5 when he and his mom met Vanya. Even though Vanya spent 3 years in the ‘60s, she was only gone for 2 days with Klaus, Five, Delores, Ben, and Leonard searching for her.
• When the Hargreeves all come back for the funeral, the introduction of them to each other are very different. Diego doesn’t show up to the funeral to keep up the reputation of him being dead. Vanya and Klaus show up together, but immediately split up when Vanya goes straight to the bar making drinks for her and her brothers (mostly for her though) and Klaus goes to his old room to reminisce about his past. Five checks their father’s room and office for evidence of something other than a heart attack, he is the one that thinks that Reginald was murdered by someone, and he also greets Vanya and Klaus with Delores who went with him to meet his family. Luther is trying to get through the funeral as possible by almost avoiding his siblings, but that backfires when Five calls a family meeting to talk about their father’s death and Luther sees a tipsy Vanya holding a mix of vodka and rum, Klaus talking to Delores who is laughing at a funny story Klaus is telling, and Five lecturing the remaining siblings on how their father might’ve been murdered.
• Eudora is more present in the show since she survives the gunshot wound in her spine by Cha-Cha, but she ends up being paralyzed from the waist down in a wheelchair. She helps Five with discovering how Reginald actually died and Diego with stepping out into the world and seeing his family for the first time in years. Like in canon, she is the first one to find Vanya at the motel after finding the message that Hazel and Cha-Cha left on the van when they burned down the prosthetic factory after they got drunk off of Vanya’s “special lemonade” which is just lemonade mixed with wine and vodka. Unlike in the show, Delores and Ben go with Eudora as back up in case something goes wrong and it does end up going wrong with Cha-Cha and Eudora having a shoot out with each other in the parking lot that ultimately ends up Eudora becoming paralyzed by Cha-Cha’s bullet ricocheting off a lamppost and lodging into Eudora’s spine with her laser gunand Ben wrestling with his former partner Hazel in the motel room while Vanya is escaping through the vent with the briefcase in her arms and Delores in tow.
Ben breaks Hazel’s wrist and almost beats him to a bloody pulp for kidnapping Vanya, but he stops when he hears Eudora’s screams from outside and sees her on the ground behind her car and he immediately drives her to the hospital while Hazel and Cha-Cha get away before the police show up. Delores and Vanya get on a nearby bus to escape the chaos and they talk about what’s going on in their lives and Delores talks about how Leonard treats Klaus when they’re alone, but Vanya denies any abuse and opens the briefcase. The last thing Vanya hears is Delores screaming.
• The episode “The Day that Wasn’t” doesn’t exist in my AU and is instead replaced with an episode called “Welcome to the 60’s” where Five interrogates Sissy and Harlan about the past while working on the beat up briefcase to learn more about how to time travel. Eudora and Diego talk about how their long time friendship has become into a sibling relationship and about how Diego can reconnect with his siblings again. Luther and Delores discuss how they both want a normal and ordinary life with their husband and fiancé respectively, but fail to see that things can never go back to way they were. Ben goes off on his own to find the truth about Leonard Peabody, but finds himself at Griddy’s where he sees Hazel kissing Agnes and talks to them about his problems. Agnes gives Ben advice about how he can reconcile with his family by actually giving them time to process him being a time traveling assassin and him telling Five to not feel guilty about causing a rift between him and Vanya and Klaus because it wasn’t Five’s fault that Ben “ran away”.
I’ll continue the rest of the story when I have the time. Right now I just want to post this.
