The Gaang being 'bad parents' didn't ruin their characters.
I've seen this argument tossed around a couple times and it's honestly one of my least favourite criticisms of lok.
Katara (and Sokka but we have no confirmed kids for him, which seems unrealistic with how much game he had) lost their mother as children and their father was forced to abandon them when they were barely starting their teens. They were raised by their grandmother with little to no peers of their own age.
Aang did not know his parents and a huge chunk of his childhood was him being groomed into taking up the mantle of the avatar and mastering airbending. He also was isolated from other kids his age. His closest parental figure was Gyatso who was more of a teacher than a father. Also the Air Nomads were literally wiped out so that adds to the trauma pile.
I really don't think i have to talk about Zuko's family life here, but at least he had relatively positive parental figures in the form of Ursa (though i do have a burning personal dislike of ursa) and Iroh. Despite this his struggle around the subject of his family and his trauma relating to his upbringing was a focal point of his character arc.
Toph was raised in isolation by her asshole abelist parents who did not listen to her, sent people to capture and bring her back and then disowned her. (If my cursory understanding of 'the rift' is correct, I need to actually read it because i am unreasonably obsessed with the Beifong family.)
Where, pray tell, were they supposed to learn proper parenting skills? On their brief stint as child soldiers? While fighting a war as literal children?
There is the argument that they must've matured later in their lives, of course. But you can only recover so much from copious amounts of childhood trauma.
Being a bad parent doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. Sure it makes you a failure in an incredibly delicate and important aspect of human life but it doesn't make you a bad person. And saying that it does takes a lot of nuance out of the conversation.
Like, do you know how easy it is to fuck up a child?
Especially that the ways the members of the Gaang 'fucked up' as parents feel mostly in character.
Bumi was going to face some struggles with self worth due to being the firstborn child of the Avatar and arguably one of the most powerful waterbenders in history, while being a nonbender himself. That much was unavoidable, no matter how his parents approached the issue.
And Aang was obviously going to be over the moon when Tenzin was born. Think about it. He's literally the last of his people. He has no one else 'like him'. No one else to pass down the traditions, the teachings that Gyatso and everyone else he cared about and who were horrifically murdered to. Aang is getting older and he feels like his culture and history and his entire life before he got trapped in that damned iceberg will die along with him. And then Tenzin is born and Tenzin can take up the mantle that had been thrust upon Aang.
I'm going to withhold my judgement on Izumi and Zuko, since we barely know anything about them. She seems well adjusted but that's all i can say right now. But Zuko has also been shown to be extremely, painfully aware of how fucked up his family is and has clearly been putting in a lot of work to unscrew what his ancestors have screwed up.
Toph situation feels very tragic to me,because it's obvious that she thought she thought she was doing better than her parents. She gave her daughters the freedom to do what they want, to not feel opressed and trapped like she had. How was she supposed to know that she was making her girls feel like she didn't love them? (Here's another post of mine about the Beifong family and how they just feel like they're cursed or something at this point.)
TLDR; I get annoyed by people saying that the Gaang being 'bad parents' ruined their characters, because to me it felt like it actually enhanced them.
Neither Aang nor Toph acted out of malice or a lack of love. On the contrary, Toph was trying not to repeat her parents mistakes, accidentally committing a bunch of her own. While Aang probably didn't even realise that he was neglecting Kya and Bumi.
But just loving your children doesn't always make you a good parent.
I think these flaws only add to them as characters. It makes them feel more real.
It's unrealistic and, frankly, just plain boring to go 'oh the Gaang were all good people so they would be good parents too.'
The Gaang were a gaggle of traumatised children forced into saving the world, because the adults around them failed them, that then grew into traumatised adults who have no idea how to be good parents.

HOTD Episode 7 Thoughts and Easter Eggs
Shoutout to Daemon’s helmet in the opening credits and now flowing into Rhaenerya’s symbol. Credits move so fast it is hard to catch things within it.
Opening with this scene is heartbreaking but I enjoyed not having a huge time jump this episode. Also Rhaena being held by Rhaenys is a great way to show that in the ten years time they were apart, they must have still spent time with one another because they are close.
Otto with that stupid pin pisses me right off, but to me seeing them zoom right in on that pin on his chest is to emphasize just how easily Otto was able to become HAND OF THE KING - arguably the most important role in court someone could have - and the man who banished him for being a snake and untrustworthy has somehow allowed him to return to court. (Also, you can see that he bites/picks his nails like Alicent). Say what you want about his health, but if Viserys were a strong man (like Daemon has always said), this would never have even been entertained, and yet here we are.
Daemon is losing it during the funeral while Vaemond Velaryon is speaking, and rightfully so. The poor guy sees through all the falsities and knows that every person involved in the throne is playing the same game. Low blow from the Verlaryon’s to say their true blood runs thick and may never run thin while looking right at Rhaenyra. This episode really drove home the point that Rhaenyra is at the very end of her rope with trying to claim her children are not the children of Harwin Strong. It is becoming impossible for her father to defend her against the opinions of the public.
They mention the Merling King during the eulogy - this is the God who rules over the Narrow Sea. That is obviously a book reference, and in the house Velaryon, it is believed that Driftwood Throne was a gift from the Merlin King to their family to conclude a pact.
The opening scene following the funeral with the dragons flying together again over Driftmark is fairly symbolic; we know that by the end of the episode they will never all be together again harmoniously.
Alicent knows what’s up as soon as she sees Rhaenyra and Daemon in the same area. I like how they shot the scene with everyone on the patio area because you can feel how awkward it is, with all the tiny pockets of people and hardly anyone talking. It’s also a great visual tool to show how isolated Daemon continues to be. When Viserys’ finally does speak with him, you can see that it is too little too late. I think you can tell that Viserys regrets not making a greater effort to keep him around - Daemon warned Viserys of all of this happening in the very first episode. Additionally, having Rhaenyra walking in the background of the crowd watching the two brothers speak again with a nervous look on her face is a great parallel to the wedding episode, when Viserys was watching her and Daemon.
It is incredibly telling that no one is consoling or even talking to the widowed husband, and in a later scene with Rhaenys calling Daemon self serving (fact), we understand that the people of Driftmark likely share her same sentiments. In the books, it is said that everyone on both sides were angry when Daemon and Laena wed behind everyone’s back and ran away to Pentos. Surely his reputation is even more tarnished with her now dying and not being at home to big birth.
Watching the dynamics of all these kids being circled around for so long is very important foshadowing for how they will all be interacting in the future. I actually really like the actors, they are doing a great job and each one of them is really able to say so much about their character without having much dialogue or extended screen time. Shout out to the writers for managing to achieve that, it is no small feat.
Jace is such a sweetie pie, and now that he knows his father was Harwin, it makes it all the more sad watching him trying to mourn a man when he is not allowed to. Rhaenyra is such a good mom and you can see that she is emotionally a very nurturing and caring parent to her children. It’s such a shame Alicent doesn’t learn a thing or two from her.
Having Daemon and Laena’s girls Baela and Rhaena reach out their hands to Jace is so sweet. In the books it made it seem like Daemon and Rhaenyra saw quite a lot of each other, with Rhaenyra becoming quite close with Laena, but in the show it’s implied that these cousins would hardly know one another. It is clear in this one act that they trust one another and feel like they can be vulnerable with each other. This is reinforced when the girls go get Jace first after Vhagar is stolen, and when the boys defend them against Aemond.
Lucerys’ conversation with Corlys was so sad, about Jace becoming king and Luke would inherit Driftmark. It reminds us all that there is so much already riding on all of these kids shoulders. For Luke to respond in such an innocent way that only a young kid can really puts it all back into perspective. Combine that with Aegon getting drunk and behaving like a teenager yet again, and you can see how if left to their own devices, these kids would have likely been friends and lived contented lives.
Helaena being married off to her brother Aegon is true to the book, but seeing Aemond wishing Alicent had betrothed her to him is a new twist. Last week Rhaenyra tried to marry her to Jace to strengthen the family bond and Alicent refused. Alicent was married off as a political move as well, and had completely rejected the notion of Targaryen’s marrying within the family when she was younger. We see now that as an adult, she will truly do anything to prevent Rhaenyra’s claim be stronger than her children’s.
Helaena predicted Aemond losing an eye last episode, and in the short scene we get with her she makes mention of “weaving Dragons with thread”, which could be her foreseeing Daemon and Rhaenyra’s wedding.
Viserys calling Alicent Aemma!!!!!
Like I mentioned earlier, Rhaenys’ clear disdain for Daemon is just the tip of the iceberg. She has clearly been harboring resentment towards Corlys for putting their family at risk, which she warned him about at the very beginning of the show. For a man so hell bent on revenge over men who didn’t listen to his wife, he sure does not listen to his wife a lot. She also cannot look Rhaenya in the eye in this episode, so it is clear that she is deeply disappointed by both sides of her family and it ultimately costs her both of her children. The Targaryens have taken everything from her, so I can’t wait to see how next week plays out with her.
“History does not remember blood, it remembers names.” What a line. Sadly, if Corlys were to take Rhaenys’ suggestion to heart and name Baela and Rhaeyna, they would eventually get married and lose the Verlaryon name. Corlys knows this, and even though the boys do not have his blood, it is his name he values more.
Rhaenyra confirming that her and Laenor tried to have a kid is a big deal my friends!
Harrens Curse - Rhaenyra mentions this and it is a reference to Black Harren. A lot of owners of the land ended up dying by violent means, and Larys made mention of this in last weeks episode as well.
“we were happy enough” - what a loaded statement. “I’m no longer a child” - also a loaded statement. In their relationship she is clearly the one running the show.
Aemond going after Vhaegar and claiming her to ride - what a scene to showcase just how big she is. you can tell that she smells him and for whatever reason, allows him to ride her. I know that is bad news bears but still a very cool scene. To see someone ride a dragon for the first time again like Jon Snow was so cool and well done, especially considering her size and that back then they actually rode them like horses. In the books, Viserys told Aemond that he would bring him to Dragonstone after the funeral so he could pick a hatchling but he takes matters into his own hands. Vhagar was originally owned by one of Aegon’s sister wives, Visenya.
Lykiri is a word in High Valyrian used to calm dragons down.
AEMOND IS SUCH A DICK, wow he becomes an awfully cocky bastard once he has a dragon. And then to throw is brother under the bus so easily, you can feel the resentment in him. This fight between the kids is also slightly different than how it was told in Fire and Blood. In the book, Joffrey sees Aemond sneaking out of the castle. Aemond kicks him into a pile of dragon poo so that he will stay quiet, In the show, we didn’t see Joffrey, and instead it was Baela and Rhaeyna were the ones to see him take Vhagar.
Poor Viserys, my man, he just wants peace and his people refuse to let him have it. But at the same point in time, he is really (to take a quote from Outlander) sailing on a ship made entirely of paper at this point, and everyone can see through it but ultimately because he is King it is the only thing maintaining Rhaenyra’s entire life and social standing. There is an obvious inequality between the family. Every law he puts into place ends up having the Streisand effect.
Alicent freaking out was actually an incredible scene, I knew what was going to happen and my heart was still pounding. Her fall from grace has been huge and the standoff in the center of the room was incredible. The dagger is emphasized a lot in this scene, so I hope to god they somehow make season 8 makes sense with this damn show. Also Criston Cole smirking, I wanted to smack his smug face.
Thank god Daemon actually stepped in to protect Rhaenyra this time unlike episode 5, but I think it’s telling that he blocks Criston instead of going for Alicent. To me, I think he knows Rhaenyra is strong enough to protect herself, and always has.
Otto being proud of Alicent is even more insight into how big of a scumbag he is. Him saying Aemond’s eye was a thousand times worth the price he paid was insight enough into just how far they will go to win. At the beginning of her conversation with Daemon, Rhaenyra says Alicent is not capable of cold murder, but now she can see the true face of her enemy.
Laenor being MIA mourning his sister for most of this episode is so sad. It really is so difficult a position he is in. And thankfully Rhaenyra does truly care for him and recognizes that he is a wonderful person and honorable man. That said, you can see the disappointment in her face when Laenor recommits himself to her. Daemon’s return is breathing new life into her and giving her the strength she needed to fight back, something Laenor will never be able to give her. This scene is very successful because at the end of the episode for a moment, you can believe Rhaenyra would have been willing sacrifice him to get what she wants.
“Fire is a prison, the sea offers and escape.” At first I was unsure how or why Rhaenyra was saying this in reference to her and Daemon, because the sea being her escape isn't an option if she kills Laenor. But after the episode ended, the idea that Rhaenyra knows her and Daemon’s fate’s are tied to their Targaryen blood, but Laenor has an escape if they give it to him is very clear. Another great line from this episode.
Rhaenya and Daemon speaking to one another again in High Valerian  - and it is Rhaenyra asking Daemon to marry her again. Girl really has it bad. Rhaenyra has been depicted as an overall honorable person thus far, staying in her lane in court and despite sleeping with Harwin and siring bastards, the new context we gain this episode that she and Laenor did in fact try to have kids makes her situation more sympathetic. They tried, and couldn’t. That says something about her character that previous episodes denied.
When Daemon and Rhaenyra begin talking about marriage and needing Laenor to be dead in order to do so, I immediately was sad. Having Daemon do her dirty work and implying that upon Daemon’s return she would be willing to betray the only other family she has ever had when Laenor did nothing wrong, it would have been very Game of Thrones and I would have been very disappointed. This was all masterfully shot; juxtaposing the audio of their plotting with the scene of their wedding with their kids watching made them seem incredibly selfish, then having it all take place RIGHT after Lenore’s implied death rather than six month after the fact like the book implied is just crazy, honestly. And then you TWIST IT ALL and you see Laenor and his lover leaving together and my faith in Rhaenya and Daemon is restored once again and DAMN what a way to end the episode. But, no one else will ever know they did that, and it will paint them in an incredibly ugly light. For Daemon that is a strength, but Rhaenyra has never had to live with that shadow of darkness.
When they get married they cut their lips and hands with dragon glass! And Rhaenyra touched his chin like she had in the brothel again! We love a good parallel and continuity.
John MacMillan was good in all his scenes this episode, but to see how tormented he was with Rhaenyra when he promises to be a husband to her now...so well portrayed. She knows he is not a strong enough husband for the fight to come, and loves him enough to set him free. I wish we were able to see the conversation between Rhaenyra and Laenor (and likely Daemon) and be able to know his reaction because when you think about it, they gave him and incredibly selfless gift.

Really cool analysis on the Robin Jason meets Red Hood Jason prompt!! :D Loved that you called it his 'worst nightmare! It's so apt that it made my brain juices tingle a bit. So just for brainstorming I think... Robin Jason would be much much more understanding towards Red Hood Jason. Yes, he's the kid that with his dying breath sheilded Sheila Haywood no matter what.
Thinking about "Elmore’s Lady" in #421 and "Just Deserts" in #422 (Jason is just in the second half!). Robin Jason is the only male character here who agrees and empathizes with Judy for luring and killing the "Dumpster Slasher" (Guy has murdered and implied to have r-worded 10 women) because her sister was the second victim. Jason in the same comic also beats up a pimp to the point Batman has to interfere.
Plus our famous #424, "The Diplomat’s Son" for another example.
Jason Todd imo is someone that has a heart of gold and bleeds empathy. So much of it. And that doesn't change when he becomes Red Hood. Crime in Crime Alley is completely different from that of the rest of Gotham. While their biggest issue is the Rouges and such crime, Crime alley's worst parts are the rampant crime, poverty, the lack of proper structure and governance, and the literal impossibility of getting out of that cycle of crime one is born with.
Jason knows this. Crime alley can't be taken care of with just some charity when half the orphanages are so utterly fucked that kids prefer the streets. It can't be saved by just beating up some folks and calling it a day. Nor does prison adequately help anyone. Do those henchmen have money to even get treatment for a broken bone? For those ribs that got smashed? What happens to the kids they have when they're in prison (Aka same thing that happened with Jason. Willis is in prison? Becomes a street kid. Cycle continues.)
I like that Red Hood Jason targets the upper folks that manage crime. UTRH? 8 heads in a duffle bag. But not one low rank henchman. To control crime is his current 'solution.' Is it 100% correct? Maybe not. But this way most 'innocent' folks don't get hurt. He can clear out orphanages. Give a safe space for the 'working women'.
I think Robin Jason will be horrified at first because wtf. But he has that same bleeding heart. And he's smart. He knows crime alley, he shares that empathy towards victims old or young. I think they might get along a bit :) maybe.
Red Hood Jason gives second chances, definitely 3rd too, multiple. But not infinite like Batman. He's isolated from all his family (as he always is. Catherine, Willis, Sheila) and he still bleeds love and protectiveness. Jaybin would see a angry hurt victim who is so so kind. And so so hurting. He should just give him a hug honestly.
(Also your fics are cool and I wish I could print them on edible paper and nom)
Perfectly put my thoughts in words, honestly.
“Bleeding heart” applies to Jason a little too well and it’s heartbreaking. 😔 especially because most people don’t look further than the whole “he kills people” thing.
Yes, he does, but he goes for the ones who truly deserve it. Some that are arguably worse than the whole rogue gallery combined.
And even so, he certainly doesn’t have fun doing it.
It’s a necessity.

thinking about abigail’s character again and I think the way point of view is handled in nbc hannibal is really interesting when you’re trying to understand her character, since a lot of what we see is filtered through either will’s misplaced attachment to her or hannibal’s projections. it’s hard to see abigail’s true self and/or nature because half of what we see is unreliable. like, will refuses to think she was the bait and so we, the audience, also believe this to be true, even though when it’s revealed she actually was the bait it makes all the sense in the world. but it’s still shocking to us because our perception of her is warped as a consequence of being in will’s pov most of the time. not only that, but the nature of this reveal is arguably softened later on when will dreams he’s teaching abigail how to fish in s2a, and literally names his bait after her because of how much he “cherishes” her
all of this is to say in a show that’s all about identity and revealing (and understanding) the self, and the grotesque connection between will and hannibal, who are understood by no one but each other, abigail’s character is super interesting as a means to explore the layers of how people falsely perceive us. she’s complex because she’s not the innocent person will (or alana for that matter) perceives her to be, but she’s also not the ruthless murderer that hannibal (or again, jack) hopes she is. she’s just a traumatised kid who was raised by a psychopathic cannibal. not only that, but she’s the unwilling victim of both her surrogate father’s projections. first will, who projects his need for comfort, family, and acceptance onto her, as well as the hope that his morality is still intact, all factors which are complicated when he confuses his sense of self with the identity of garret jacob hobbs. and evidently by murdering him, and leaving abigail orphaned, feelings of shame and guilt also influence the nature of his projections. but then you have hannibal, who projects his attachment to mischa onto her, as well as his grief. and like will, this is all complicated by his own human need for comfort, family, and acceptance
but if you peel all that away, and get to the core of it, the key similarity between will and hannibal’s projections is a want for acceptance, and then forgiveness, which, as we see in s3, is synonymous to love. essentially, these are two characters who are undoubtedly monstrous, yet retain their humanity due to that universal longing to love and be loved, in whatever twisted form they are capable
I mean, the whole concept of the murder family is so sad because I think it reveals how damaged both will and hannibal are, beyond the show’s literal gothic horror. cannibalism, bloodshed, manipulation, playing the devil, grotesque thoughts and fantasies concerning murder, etc are all obvious reasons why these characters are fucked up mentally, but that’s also a consequence of the genre. to me, the true horror of the show is very much embedded in the psychological, and how will and hannibal are so lonely and isolated that they would wish to have this family circle “in some other world” because they thought they’d found someone who also understood them, someone they could nurture and take care of. but, as we know, this is all an illusion. will repeatedly says he thinks he’d make a good father, but he’s self-destructive and so is hannibal, and so it’s no wonder abigail dies the way that she does. she never had a chance with them. if anything, if she represents the self we project onto others, a fantasy standing in the way of the truth of our natures, which is shaped by human frailty, then her death is also the death of these idealistic delusions. it’s why in s3a, when will is still desperately trying to hold onto her, she’s nothing more than a ghost. and it’s why when he finally accepts this he goes to hannibal’s childhood estate, because, as he tells him when they reunite in the gallery, “I wanted to understand you, before I laid eyes on you again. I needed it to be clear, what I was seeing”

Evo Sibling Childhood Timeline
Okay official post for the siblings from THIS post, featuring my mcyt superpower au that I really need a better name for.
Below the cut I have explained the timeline of the siblings from childhood through to the (near) present of the au. Some CWs are bolded with it, and it’s really long lol. I the interested enjoy :]
Quick CWs: Death (3 accounts: 1 parental death and 2 teen murders) mentioned/implied neglect and abuse (non descriptive), lots of abandonment, being on the run/wanted by police
These CWs are major plot points in the timeline, but they also aren’t described in depth.
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Lizzie, Grian, Pearl, and Jimmy are siblings in this au, the lot of them. Though to be clear they do not all have the same parents. Grian and Pearl are full siblings, their dad cheated on their mom with Lizzie's mom who had her and Jimmy. Jimmy and Lizzie's mum died, and they were both taken in by Pearl and Grian's parents, raising them all as siblings. Their mom is pissed but didn't go to divorce because she doesn’t believe in it.  Instead the kids are all being raised together with varying levels of love from their parents.
They grow up pretty close since their parents suck. Even Grian and Pearl who arguably get the most love from their parents are fairly used to a level of neglect and frustration from them. Their parents deliberately do not like Jimmy and Lizzie. Jimmy gets a lot of shit for being the "reason" they're all stuck together, partially blamed for his mothers death because his birth complicated her health. As well as his unidentified luck powers getting him in all sorts of trouble.
Lizzie is older and feels like an outsider. She does not want this family, she had a family before it was taken from her. She loves Jimmy to bits but she kind of hates it here and it only gets worse. Lizzie gets heavily parentified as the eldest girl and constantly gets into fights with the mum. They fight all the time basically and Lizzie takes it upon herself to take care of her siblings, especially Jimmy who is fairly neglected compared to the others.
Besides the stuff with their parents though the siblings all relatively get alone, as much as sibling can with a big change. They generally have each others back hiding blame and taking care of one another. Teasing and rough play are to be expected but they’ll sooner cover for each other and love one another than else.
Tumblr media
Next block of time is best associated with the Bad Boys (Grian, his classmate Joel, and Jimmy) who decide their town in the middle of nowhere really needs some alert heroes and takes it upon themselves to become a teen vigilante group since they're not old enough to be legal heroes.
This immediately gets them in trouble because they're 3 dipshit teenaged nuisances causing trouble around town and given Grian and Joel are more than a little destructive, eventually they cause some damage that gets a hero called in. The Codfather catches their ragtag group quickly and they all get in trouble.
Joel and Grian are sent off to a boarding school a town over, closer to one of the cities surrounding them but ultimately pretty isolated from civilization. It’s meant to straighten out their delinquent behaviour, a school for poorly behaved children. To right them into good members of society.
Jimmy gets a slap on the wrist because he's younger enough the other two can take the blame for him. He’s also clearly much more upset and apologetic about the ordeal than the teenagers ar. Even when The Codfather and other officials try to assure him they aren’t in too much trouble. There’s consequences, but they’re kids.
At home things are tense because alongside Grian being sent away there's now infrequent eyes on the house meant to keep an eye on Jimmy.  They’re not terribly attentive, not super concerned tbh, but they check in once in a while. But it’s unnerving the parents who we all know aren't being that great of parents. Especially to Jimmy specifically.
Lizzie is really pulling her weight during these check ins to keep things together. She is also getting weary of  having to hold things together. To be a fucking mom when she's supposed to be a sister. She’s tired of trying to wrangle these people who are feeling a bit like she's overbearing at times even if she means well. Lizzie is getting more stressed under pressure, Pearl and Jimmy are getting annoyed with her hovering, and frankly its damaging their relationship.
She is getting exasperated, as well as having had a BIG fuck up with the mom after a fight with her gets her ends with her discovering her powers for the first time. Able to transform into this aquatic beast. It scares both her and her mom enough that they just entirely start avoiding each other and do not talk about it. No one else knows what happened, and Lizzie has no one to talk to about it since Jimmy’s powers havent been identified and both Grian and Pearls powers don't seem like much on anything to their parents because they havent really figured them out fully. More of a light show than anything so Lizzie being able to become this monster is freaky to everyone and especially herself. Especially in their small town where there’s not a lot of other people to base her powers from.
Tumblr media
Shit hits the fan when Lizzie turns 18. She thought long and hard in the months leading to her birthday,  subtly packing her few belongings. Finally, after spending the day with her siblings, she disappears that night alongside her things. She decided she couldn’t take it anymore, being in that house. Didn’t want anything to do with their parents, and with a heavy heart, deciding she just couldn’t say anything to her siblings either. They wouldn’t understand, they’d beg her to stay. And she just can’t stay. They’re dependent on her and she just can’t stand taking care of anyone but herself anymore.
The only thing she left behind was a note to Jimmy, apologizing for leaving but with little other details. It’s enough for a missing persons report to not be bothered with. She’s 18 after all. She's guilty after years of taking care of her siblings and being there for them and she does love them but she just, made a big hard decision and left without contact. She doesn't want to be found. She wants a fresh start. She plans to reach back out when she’s ready, because she really does love them. She just has a life to get on with first. She has a new job and an apartment lined up. She's doing as well as she can really despite the guilt.
Grian is having the opposite of a good time after hanging out with his two friends he met at the boarding school takes a turn. In their dorm the aggression amps past its normal threats and Taurtis is killed. In retaliation, for fear of his life, Grian kills Sam and knows there's not a chance in hell the police look at this school of delinquent boys and believes Grian did this in self defense. He knows that, believes so firmly he’ll be in trouble without defense.
So he runs, through woods and along highway. Its a miracle he wasn't caught, likely only so because they wouldn't have imaged he'd get out of the countryside town and all the way to Hermitopia. He's on the run from here out. He manages to steal a stupid Halloween chicken mask that he uses to hide his face while he steals shit, becoming an almost endearingly iconic local villain that everyone finds a little annoying but isn't actually being dealt with because he's such a low necessity to be dealt with by heroes he gets away with stealing what he needs to survive in the city. RIP the annoyed locals but there’s like 2 whole rising villain factions in their city that have priority.
News of Grians disappearance and believed involvement with the murders reaches home. Joel had personally managed to get a letter back, he was the one to discover the crime scene after all. He assures Pearl and Jimmy he doesn’t think Grian did it, no matter what the evidence looks like or the police say. He just doesn’t believe it.
Jimmy and Pearl are... not doing great after Lizzie left. Jimmy is distraught, Lizzie was his person y’know? Loves his whole family but Lizzie was his rock and his only parent figure (which was kind of the whole problem but still, she's all Jimmy had). He doesn’t now what to do with himself, already poor self esteem plummeting because he has to assume its his fault. He’s at his worst place with little ways out.
Pearl is feeling pretty well abandoned and has begun lashing out. Lizzie left a note for Jimmy and not her. Her full brother is missing, and their household is a wreck because neither youngest really had to be the responsible one before. They're have  each other at least. It’s the only rock they can hold onto anymore, each other. They’re attached at the hip during this time, reaching blindly for each other with everything seeming to fall apart around them.
Tumblr media
Next big jump has the siblings all established in their adult lives a bit better.
Lizzie met Joel who also moved to Empire City after he graduated. Neither he or Lizzie talk about their history in much depth and don't push each other on it, more than happy to keep all that behind them. Lizzie doesn’t exactly want to be associated with her family she cut contact with, and Grian doesn’t feel like telling the pretty girl he’s with that he was stuck in a boarding school that housed a double murder.
Because of this they don't realize they Joel was the dipshit who got Lizzie's brothers in trouble/ Lizzie is the older sister of Joel’s old friends. They fall in love,  move in together, and get married. It’s a small wedding, honestly considering if they just eloped because neither had much family or friends to invite. Lizzie had tried to reach out to her siblings around this time I imagine, feeling secure enough to do so. But was met with dead ends when she called her parents old number. She was guilty and upset, but ultimately couldn’t do much for now.
Life goes on, and seems to really be going up for the both of them after such rough year getting here. Lizzie has established herself working at a pawn shop of sorts, mostly scamming people in the closest way you can get to legality and its working out well for her. Joel doesn't work as consistently, becoming an artist and doing commissions, but Lizzies the one supporting them mostly. They're happy!
Grian is also happy, or at least- happier. He's still in a rough spot but he met a friend after so many years alone and paranoid on the run. Mumbo, young rich tech enthusiast and also vigilante I’ve yet to find a name I like for, found Grian!  The two became friends. Mumbo offered to let Grian live with him, and after thorough convincing he wasn't about to get turned into the police (Mumbo wouldn't, he's a vigilante  he isn't exactly liked by the law either and Grian knows enough to get him in trouble) Grian agrees to move in and mooch off him.
Mumbo’s pretty rich it hardly makes a dent to him, and now he has a buddy to help him with his morally grey bullshit and show his tech too! Even if Grian has no idea what the hell he's talking about. Grian takes up his villain alias as Watcher, a more serious alias compared to his silly survival stint as Poultryman. He and Mumbo do some grey bordering on villainous activity.
Grian is pretty well angry at the world now that he's physically in a better place and isn’t scared for his life every day. He's angry with the justice system he has seen the wrong side of one too many times and takes it out by targeting heroes, police, and government buildings. Really just making a spectacle of destroying and fighting and trying to use up all this anger he has no idea what to do with.
He’s also, frankly, fucking bored now that he isn’t fighting to stay alive every day. And really that’s the worse crime of all. Thankfully he's not too keen on killing people after Sam, yknow getting him into this whole mess and being hella traumatizing.  And anything leaning a bit more morally ill advised Mumbo tends to balance him out so all is going about as well as it could on his end considering he's wanted under 3 different alias' for various different crimes.
Pearl is... doing the worst of her siblings. After Grian disappeared and Lizzie left the authorities that had been monitoring Jimmy took a more keen interest. They had been mostly asking the family about Grian after assuming his hand in the murders. However without Lizzie there to take care of things the household was looking a lot worse for wear compared to previous check ins. Soon enough Pearl and Jimmy were quickly removed from their parents household thanks to the neglect.
Pearl was convinced they'd be okay if only they stayed together. Jimmy left though, offered stability by the hero who caught him all those years ago, The Codfather, and taking him in. Pearl felt betrayed that Jimmy would do this to her, feeling completely abandoned she was told she could go into care or, since she's 16, she can technically get a job and look out for herself with some financial support and check ins till she’s 18.
She took that option, refusing to chase after people who keep leaving. Putting her family behind her angrily and moving to Hermitopia where she thought she'd be farthest away. She found her dog Tilly abandoned in an ally and took her in. She was left behind, just like Pearl was after all. She managed to get herself a job as a garbage lady after some years of working minimum wage and is now a very unstable adult with a fairly stable job and place in society from all outside perspectives.
She is the only one of her family have any knowledge where the others are, as in she knows Jimmy is The Canary. Outside of this no one knows anyone else alt. identities much less where they all are.
Finally Jimmy, as previously mentioned, was sought out by The Codfather who had been keeping tabs on the family since the delinquency stint. He hadn't thought, just reached for someone that believed in him. Could help him. He admired heroes, its why he and Grian had that vigilante stint at all.
He hadn't really thought he'd be leaving Pearl behind. Had thought she would come with, or they would stay in touch and still hang out and be siblings. It wasn't till she disappeared, like Lizzie and Grian before her, not even a note this time in her anger. Jimmy lost the last thread of his family, and turned entirely to rely on The Codfather as a mentor and father figure.
The man was kind with Jimmy and  genuinely the best thing to ever happen to him. He helped Jimmy identify his powers, realizing the poor luck he's had was a product of not knowing how to regulate the intentions of his powers and ending up breaking things as a result. He helped set Jimmy on a better path, and Jimmy took up training as his Sidekick when he turned 18. Wanting to be like the hero who has helped him the most.
Tumblr media
Finally nearest to the present are only some minor updates from last.
Lizzie and Joel were both interested in vigilante justice, and frankly, the fame of heroism. However they knew they couldn't legally become heroes with their pasts. Joel's history in a school for delinquents and Lizzie with familial relations to Grian that would surely bring up things she doesn't want to be associated with.
Instead they both decide to get in on the vigilante thing, crafting identities as Lady of the Deep and The Mad King. They're frankly not actually bad at heroics. A bit chaotic and show off-y, but they work pretty peacefully alongside the legal heroes and thus are a low enough threat that they're rarely targeted by the law. Legal heroes have bigger things to deal with than imposters doing more good that bad.
Besides, civilians kinda love them they're iconic lol, even if a bit grey sometimes. They certainly aren’t free of crime, sticking their noses places they shouldn’t be in their personal pursuits. Joel hasn’t ever gotten over the murder he discovered, or Grians disappearance, and he’s always on the look out for leads others could have missed. He wants his friend back, and he wants to prove his innocence. Lizzie is also looking out for Pearl and Jimmy rather passivly, never able to get an answer on where they’d gone.
Jimmy's role as the Codfathers sidekick comes to an end. I'm not entirely sure if the Codfather dies, maybe in the same fight as Aeor (other hero, big plot event, story for another time) or if he's just old and retires. Might just let the guy retire because Jimmy deserves good things.
Doesn't matter, Jimmy moves from sidekick to full fledged hero with the Codfather’s good word as well as his years of work as a sidekick. He's a fan favourite, especially since he mainly deals in civilian support. he isn't much good for a fight but he's decent at corralling people and defense, keeping people safe. he feels fulfilled following in his mentors footsteps and especially in helping people.
Pearl goes off the deep end. Watching from a distance as news of The Codfather and The Canary’s fame and heroics escalates. Not only that but Hermitopia is ripe with like 3 non hero factions and at this point she's bored as hell and just wants to cause a bit of havoc. Honestly still angry with the world and wanting to rip it apart a bit for the way it has left her behind over and over.
She ends up messing with 2 different villain factions, one in each city. But that's more for present day plots. At least she finds herself finally feeling at home, like she has actual friends again after so long. It’s hit or miss between factions, she just wants a place to belong again really and keep striking out. One day, someone will stick. She’ll get her ride or die soon enough!
Finally, Grian is taken into interest by famed cocky ass show-pony of a hero, Hotguy! They get into a bit of a rivalry that Grian finds himself really getting into. For the first time in years he has a project of his own as he painstakingly puts together a new villain identity as Cuteguy, the antithesis to Hotguy. Hotguy thinks its hilarious, absolutely adores the publicity of their rivalry and its more a performance thing than anything else.
Rest assured, Grian is still dangerous and willing to get into shit with Mumbo, but honestly this is a peak for him. He feels like he has some control in his life again, is finally having FUN in his life again. Its really as good a spot as he can be in without his many warrants for arrest in all his identities being let up. He has a friend he can rely on in Mumbo, and whatever you would call Scar, and he might dare to say he’s pretty happy, all things considered.
That's everything for the Evo siblings up to near the present of the au There's still stuff I could expect on since the “present” kinda ranges a fair few years in my current notes.
If anyone wants more answers for anything, related to this or inquiries about other involvements go for it! This is is fairly expansive and while underdeveloped is being worked on :] I hope you all enjoyed reading!

Of course thanks for asking!
@ninetiesloki
Personally, I don't think this was intentionally meant to be abusive by Jiang Cheng, arguably it can be in the eyes of adults. But, he was a child at the time, and we are privy to how he became what he was with the abuse, mental and physical, from Madam Yu. I stipulate again, at such a young age, he did not mean to be intentionally abusive, cruel, yes, but not outright abusive. Kids also have merit of being young and having that benefit of doubt to grow for the better and nurturing with their relationships. A cruel action does not beget an abuser unless that is the side catered to by the self, or unintentionally enabled by loved ones even.
This feeds into what Jiang Fengmian had told him, to not say words or do things he does not mean. Angry words and constant violent actions lead for toxic adult relationships.
He was not ever really served a consequence or lesson for casual cruelty. When he threatened Wei Wuxian, the deal was made "to never tell" as he decided to protect Wei Wuxian from dogs. But with that, he still cruelly let dogs harass him until he was done laughing during their youth. Which then later as adults Jiang Cheng used that trauma to torture Wei Wuxian with Fairy out of intentional cruelty with the information he was privy to. He was intentionally cruel in words in his youth, but that intention eventually did morph into physical and mental abuse.
We also get told, when he realized Wei Wuxian left at the time, he went to Jiang Yanli first, because he wouldn't be in trouble, one, with Jiang Fengmian who brought the boy in who now has run off, and Madam Yu, who finds fault in any situation and who earlier, laughed at the dissent Wei Wuxian being brought in elicited from a young (already very neglected and isolated from his parents) Jiang Cheng. And in that way, all three of them were gone from the estate at night, and could lead to further trouble, that he made.
Intention and action, is the interesting part of Jiang Cheng. Because he feels very strongly but due to that, he is prone to the angriest and most harmful reasoning without thought. And with no self reflection and his own heavy abandonment issues, the one he will blame is always the one he sees as having broken their side of a relationship promise, despite the cruelty he had expressed in turn and often.

Do you agree w/ the fandom interpretation that john was so homophobic he’d have beaten up and abandoned his sons for being gay? Cause sure, he grew up in the 60s as a mechanic and then later became a marine during the vietnam war, but i also don’t think homophobia would’ve necessarily been a priority for him? Like obviously he’s not gonna be the full on supportive and politically correct loving dad, but i think that the fandom’s general opinion on that is pretty warped by people’s relationships w/ their own fathers
I do think this is one place where people tend to project. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that; working out our issues through fiction is healthy and good! I don’t think there’s any canon proof of it beyond, as you said, him being a marine from the sixties who would probably not be super knowledgeable about being queer, maybe a little apprehensive about it from what he’s absorbed through the culture he grew up in. I think we’d be correct to point out that if Sam or Dean were queer, he might be uncomfortable about it, he might try to avoid the topic, which is in of itself hurtful.
The thing about me is: I fully disagree that John was ever physically abusive towards his kids. At most, I will bend this interpretation to say he was probably too harsh on them while teaching them to fight and that maybe he and Sam have traded blows before when arguments got too loud (by blows, I mean, probably shoving with the yelling, you know, assertion of physical space. It seems realistic to me that two people who have been using violence for a long time to protect themselves, and for John, his family, down to the hierarchal power he’s put in place of him -> Dean -> Sam, would resort to it when things got too heated.)
(I also think that sometimes fandom’s insistence that John had to be physically abusive can sometimes get a little insulting because it perpetuates the idea that emotional abuse does less harm and can be overlooked and for flattening out John’s character in a way the show very literally pointed to and said He Did Not Do That. This is the entire point of Max’s episode in s1, for the show to point out that their experiences of abuse were different. How well it was handled is arguable, but I take it as clear evidence that when we talk about John’s relationship with his sons, the focus should be on the emotional abuse, the codependency he developed with Dean from a very young age, his neglect of them both, his attempts to suppress Sam, etc. And I appreciate this about the show, because you can’t talk about any of those things without also talking about why they’re happening, why John thinks this is necessary, how he loves his sons and isolates them to protect them and ends up doing more and more damage that will never leave them through their entire lives.
I’m sure there’s depictions of John being physically abusive that handle it with the same amount of nuance that the show handles him being emotionally abusive in canon. I have not seen them, unfortunately. I’ve seen John being physically abusive 90% of the time just being used as shorthand for him being Bad and Evil and A Terrible Father. Which does not interest me. So I will remain here as a staunch defender of He Would Not Fucking Hit His Kids.)
Sorry, okay, we got off topic there this is about gay shit.
The point of All Of That was for me to be able to say, John’s not going to react to his sons being queer by beating them. He’s definitely not going to abandon them. Hello? John Winchester? Abandon his kids? John Winchester, the guy who has been keeping them in warded up motel rooms their whole lives and moving them across the country out of paranoia the demon who killed his wife could find them if they say anywhere too long? John Winchester who only trusted one or two people to ever look after his sons when he went on a hunting trip too long? We think that John would ditch his kid because they’re queer???
Like I said, I think the most realistic reaction for John, (if not just flat out him going ‘that’s fine, now load this gun while I time you because that’s more important for me to know that you can do’, because. He kind of has bigger priorities to worry about here. Like werewolves.) would be discomfort and pushing it out of his view, ignoring it. Which would still fucking hurt! And would have horrible effects on Sam and Dean both, would encourage Dean to repress it if he thinks his dad is ashamed of him, would push Sam away if he trusts John with this fact about himself and can’t be accepted easily.
I just think this is truer to John’s character.
Anyway. If nothing else here persuades anyone reading that John Would Not Fucking Do That, well. He thought his kid was demonspawn, remember? He thought Sam was corrupted and might not be able to be saved. I don’t think you can get more clear queercoding than that, and you know what John’s very telling response was to that information, to finding out something a thousand times more terrifying than Sam being gay ever could be? To refuse to look at it. To insist to himself that whatever Hell wanted with Sam, he wouldn’t let it happen. To tell Dean to take care of it, because even when John is certain that his son might literally become a demon, he could never bring himself to pull the trigger on him. Because he loves Sam.
So like. He literally would not do anything for the much smaller realization that Sam is gay. His son has demon blood that might turn him super evil, and John still wouldn’t hurt him.
I guess what I’m trying to say here is, I try to keep the fact that John loved his sons at the forefront of my mind when I’m writing stuff about him, because I think if you let that slide out of your head, you can very easily make him much worse, much more flat than he was in canon. The real picture of him is just an extremely flawed man in a terrible situation who fucks up his kids as much as he protects them.
And also he wouldn’t care about them being gay because JohnAzazel real and true and they fucked sloppy in that hospital basement-

Why You Should Watch White Christmas (the 2011 Kdrama): A Manifesto
Yesterday I was watching White Christmas (specifically episodes 4 and 5) for the fourth time. I watched it for the first time like five years ago and all my feelings are still there and still potent so today I am here to tell you that you should watch it too.
Tumblr media
THE BASICS:
Seven kids at an elite private high school over winter break. They stayed there because they all received mysterious black letters, accusing them of vague, nonspecific crimes and claiming that on New Year's Day someone will die. When they find out that ALL of them received this letter, they decide one of them must have been the one to send it--and they set out to discover who it was. In the meantime, a giant blizzard shuts down all the roads, and telephone and internet connections go down as well, leaving the school isolated and all on campus trapped there together.
things develop from there.
THE CHARACTERS:
Tumblr media
Park Moo-yul: A Good Boy. His grades are constantly second highest in the school; he's obsessed with studying and wants to someday come in first. Sort of a leader type, he tries to organize the investigative efforts (and later, keep things from falling apart--except, much as he'd like to believe it, he's not immune to the Lord of the Flies effect lols). For the first couple episodes, he's sort of the main/POV character, but by the end it's more of an ensemble cast show. In the episodes I just watched, there are multiple scenes with him staring down a gun and waiting to get shot. Some ppl think he's boring but I love a guy with a hero complex.
Tumblr media
Choi Chi-hoon: The Genius. The first place to Park Moo-yul's second. People call him unemotional and heartless; it turns out later he does have difficulty feeling emotions due to a neurological issue. Loves science, interested in the black letters as a puzzle but for a while pretends not to be. The least likely to go Lord of the Flies but his Very Logical plans are often actually very risky.
Tumblr media
Yoon Eun-sung: The Only Girl. (except for that one other woman who shows up later but she's not one of the seven so we're not counting her.) Used to be the most popular girl in school and also Park Moo-yul's girlfriend but then she Changed (aka she developed depression). Sarcastic and possibly suicidal. Everyone is OBSESSED with her (well, four, arguably five characters are obsessed with her, but this show only has a total of 11 characters so that's really too many).
Also, she's played by Esom, so if you like Esom, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Lee Jae-kyu: Why are you here???? For the first few episodes, that's a genuine question; he doesn't have an apparent connection to the others in the group, and it's a mystery why the black letter sender would have any grudges against him. It turns out later he has some secret issues. He's a bit of a snake in the grass. I won't go into it.
Tumblr media
Yang Kang-mo: He wants to be a reporter someday! His nickname is Cameraman Yang, and he's always carrying a camera around. He's deaf, and partly as a result, gets bullied a lot. He is the favorite character of the friend I was watching this show with yesterday. Also there's a whole episode of him getting chased around with baseball bats, look forward to it.
Tumblr media
Jo Young-jae: A bully, a coward and a messed up kid. A line he says in the show is, "Yes, I'm used to people hating me. To the extent that I'm scared when people don't hate me. But you made me hate myself!" A line someone else says to him is, "You're not a bad person. You're weak. If everyone knew how weak you were, they wouldn't hate you." To watch Jo Young-jae have multiple mental breakdowns, watch White Christmas, I promise it is very fun.
Also, he's played by Kim Young-kwang, so if you like Kim Young-kwang, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Yoon Su: His nickname is Angel. In general, it requires incredible academic acumen to go to Susin High; Yoon Su got in bc his parents donated money to the school. He's a loner and does not want to be here; his ambition in life is to be a musician, and he loves playing the guitar. He has some mental health issues and takes (unspecified) recreational drugs. He also has a giant grudge. Against who? Stay tuned to find out.
Also he's played by Lee Soo-hyuk, so if you like Lee Soo-hyuk, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Kang Mi-reu: THIS BOY IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE. Remember how I said seven kids got letters, seven kids stayed at the school? Meet kid number eight. Kang Mi-reu didn't get a letter and he didn't get permission to stay on campus either; technically he's on probation and on his way to being expelled. He sneakily stayed on campus to investigate who framed him for exploding a statue, the reason for his expulsion. He can go through air vents and has a great theme song. He wants to solve his problems with violence. Actually he once beat Choi Chi-hoon at academics but got pissed off at always losing to him and gave up on being a perfect student. We all love Kang Mi-reu.
Also he's played by Kim Woo-bin so if you like Kim Woo-bin, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Yoon Jong-il: The teacher who stayed on campus to supervise. Wow, I'm sure with a responsible adult around, there will be no chaos or violence breaking out on campus.
Tumblr media
Kim Yo-han: He's not even affiliated with the school. He got in a car accident near it and then got stuck here due to the storm. He keeps getting concussions/broken bones/deadly fevers. Also, he's a psychiatrist, and finds all the weird shit going on at the school rather intriguing.
IS IT SHIPPY?
I mean, is there any actual romance? No.
Do we see slow burn friendships develop from suspicion to deep trust and affection over the course of the show? Also no.
Do I think some of these people should make out? Yeah.
A few ships I have specifically:
-Choi Chi-hoon/Park Moo-yul: Obvious rival ship, overemotional dude/kind of cold dude, leader type/genius type. There is also some hurt/comfort towards the end that I really can't describe without spoilers but the mix of resentment and trust is immense.
-Kang Mi-reu/Park Moo-yul: This is my just for fun ship. Good boy/bad boy vibes. Also Kang Mi-reu seems to actually listen to Park Moo-yul when for the most part he won't listen to anyone. Also he snuck into Park Moo-yul's bedroom once while he was sleeping and teased him about the fact that he and all the others got black letters and won't the sender be so offended he dares to sleep instead of sitting up paranoid all night. I just think they're cute.
-Yang Kang-mo/Jo Young-jae: Yes this is a bully/victim ship which is not usually my thing, but I love both of them and also Young-jae is so pathetic and Kang-mo honestly scares him at multiple points. Meanwhile Kang-mo is kind of tired and fed up with him but at this point has sort of a weird connection with him regardless. They know each other.
-Yoon Eun-sung/Jo Young-jae: Young-jae is my favorite of the dudes who's obsessed with Eun-sung, and the most toxic of them as well. She used to be perfect and he had a resentful crush on her for that; now she's kind of messed up but still aloof and superior, and he still wants and hates her at the same time. And she knows, and teases him about it, and he acts nonchalant but you can tell it grinds at him. The best m/f dynamic of the show.
I have a bunch of other ships.... explaining them involves spoilers so I'll just list a few: Kang Mi-reu/Yoon Su, Yang Kang-mo/Yoon Eun-sung/Park Moo-yul, Lee Jae-kyu/Choi Chi-hoon, Lee Jae-kyu/Jo Young-jae.
BUT, PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY... THE VIBES!!!
I love the characters of White Christmas but I mostly rewatch it so much bc 1) the pacing is on point and 2) it's so cinematically satisfying.
In terms of plot and pacing--Everything moves fast. Each episode is very distinct from the others, the plot consistently moving forward at a breakneck pace. Each episode I would say gets a little faster and wilder (with the exception of episode 3, perhaps, which moves a little slow--but then episode 4 goes completely unhinged, so it's a fair exchange). There is shit going on and they are going to cram a whole show's worth of content into 8 episodes and you are going to eat it.
In terms of production: Visually stark. Lots of glass and snow and shadows everywhere. Fun shots. A great soundtrack. For one thing, Wake Up by Arcade Fire recurs a lot and the vibes are immense and very teenage angst and "what the fuck am I supposed to do".
Anyways here's some shots I think convey the vibe:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANYWAY.
Watch White Christmas! And if you do, or if you've already watched it, please talk to me about it! I am currently in the White Christmas feelings, as I often am this time of year.

GitS Asks
(These are from before Chapter 30 came out)
Tumblr media
They're unprepared but they make up for it in their tenacity and flexibility!
Tumblr media
You. Are you spying on me? Squints
Tumblr media
OUGH </3
Tumblr media
Yeah, Don will make friends with anyone! He's often torn up over them leaving, as well. Ghost just lost too much. He's scared to get close to people because they might leave, or he might leave, but the kids kind of kidnapped him, so.
Tumblr media
Spirit thinks that Leo's unfocused but he definitely doesn't mind it. He does think a lot about "is this how I would have been had I not been the leader?" He loves Leo, though. He loves that he gets to be silly goofy and a kid.
Spirit thinks Raph makes a good leader when he's not panicking over his little brothers. He's got a bit of learning to do, and some helicopter brothering going on, but Spirit gets it. This Raph isn't as angry. He can't afford to be as angry and reckless as Spirit's Raphael.
Tumblr media
Probably Splinter, considering he's more skilled as a ninja but also incredibly used to Rise logic fhgkdjfhg
Tumblr media
Oh yeah Mike would have a GRAND old time with the villains. He'd love the banter, love the theming. God he'd be delighted. All the villains are confused because he always gets so excited to see them.
Tumblr media
Yup! One way or another, Don gets mutated.
Tumblr media
The TV shows, movies, books, songs, entertainment media. There might be equivalents in this dimension, but not all of them exist. He wishes he could read Justice Force stuff because that's what his Mikey was most into, but it doesn't exist in the Rise Dimension. There are songs he can't quite remember the lyrics to but the melodies are stuck in his head. Some stuff just. Doesn't exist here.
Tumblr media
Bringing back the Michelangelo saying "So THAT'S where you've been you WHORE" joke for this one
Tumblr media
Arguably yes. In another dimension, Splinter lost his son the same way Rise Splinter lost his mother. It makes him worry that he's going to lose his sons again, so he withdraws further, which only worsens his depression. When Ghost withdraws, the kids go and drag him out, because they know that they can. They probably tried, when they were younger, to spend time with Splinter even when he felt bad, but he snapped at them sometimes. They would leave, and he'd feel even worse about himself.
Ghost being around means he doesn't have to worry about them as much. Ghost can do that for him. Ghost is a better father than him. Like Ghost said, he's a terrible father. So why bother trying?
Tumblr media
I feel like I've definitely answered this before or it's in the fic, but he likes to bake with Mikey and do drawing stuff with him. Ghost only does blueprints, so his drawings are all very technical, but Mikey likes to do this thing where he takes Ghost's technical drawings and paints them all wild and colorful and it's a very nice juxtaposition.
With Leo, Ghost geeks out with him. They read Jupiter Jim comics together, they watch Lou Jitsu and Jupiter Jim movies, Leo will infodump about theories and headcanons and basically fanfic ideas he has, and Ghost will happily listen. His big brother used to listen to is infodumps, so this feels like repaying him, somehow.
Raph and Ghost usually train, or Ghost shows Raph how to build things. Raph's a big guy, he's a bit clumsy, he's never felt like he could build or make anything before, not like Mikey or Donnie, who are creative as all get out. But Ghost shows him he just needs the right medium. Metal is good for Raph because he can bend it easily, and he starts enjoying welding. He helps Ghost with a lot of the bigger repairs around the lair. Otherwise, they'll sit and read next to each other. They get cozy.
Tumblr media
Yeah. That's why during "Same As It Never Was" short story, when Ghost intercepted Freshly Mutated Lou, they both kinda just. Broke down to each other and then. Y'know. Raised the kids together. Co-parenting. Generally much better off than Ghost continuing to isolate himself.
-------------------------
Anonymous asked: I really do love how you make a point to emphasize that mutated Ghost is a scared animal more than a monster. 03 didn’t really give the time or depth to explore Ghost’s psyche as much. (Not that it’s a bad thing! It’s my favorite arc for a reason and part of it is just the nature of a visual and auditory medium rather than a written one, plus the nature of weekly episodes and the audience being a bunch of kids who are freaking out over their favorite character, it simply makes sense why they didn’t dwell on that and instead focused on his brothers’ reactions to it instead.) As a complete animal nerd to the point where animals and animal behavior is basically a special interest of mine though, it REALLY scratches an itch when writers actually take how animals actually think and behave into account rather than just defaulting to stereotypical monster behavior. An injured animal IS the most dangerous thing you can encounter in the wild for a reason. They’re scared. They’re in pain. They’re worried you want to kill them and therefore think they have nothing left to lose and will fight with everything they have to get you away from them. On top of it all, Ghost has just enough of his mind left to seek stuff out but not know /why/ he does the things he does. He follows scents that are familiar. He didn’t chase the boys or lunge until they got too close. He still tries to hide. Leo’s right when he says Ghost still doesn’t want to hurt them, it’s just that for once animal panic and self preservation instincts are making him forget everything else. He doesn’t understand that they’re trying to help him. A scared animal doesn’t want to fight, it just wants to be safe. -- (Keep Scrolling Anon)
This is a very good analysis on what I wanted Ghost to feel like. He's in a massive amount of pain. He's scared. He wants it to stop, but there are things reaching for him. He doesn't know that he's hurting the people he cares about, he just knows that he's being hurt.

🔵 -- 'HC + [WORD]' meme . ACCEPTING
⚙️ BONDS. Seventeen has few, if any, truly personal connections. Very much like a curious but half-feral cat, he hovers around the peripheries of other people's lives, willing neither to commit to isolation from society nor to take a more concrete place within it. Even his twin, Eighteen, is vastly more a mystery to him these days than not; and perhaps the most telling part of that is that they both have the power to change that at any time, but don't. The distance is what he knows and expects now; and really, he has to assume that that's exactly how she wants it.
(After all, she essentially started over, didn't she? New lease on existence. New family. He doesn't see a place for himself within that domestic framework; and while he doesn't really grudge her for it, he does perceive it a bit like a door that's been quietly but pointedly nudged shut between them. She's got a kid now, after all. A good husband. People who care about her. As far as he's concerned, she doesn't need a restless tumbleweed like him hanging around her new, wholesome little life; and with the silence going very much both ways, he has no choice but to believe that that's what she thinks too.)
⚙️ FRIENDSHIP. Seventeen has a history of being his own worst enemy (both purposefully and not) when it comes to the matter of making and keeping proper friends; not because he's incapable of being engaging company or taking interest in others, but because he doesn't actually expect people to stay in the long run. As a result, he isn't quick to get personal/vulnerable with people or to 'invest' in them, and tends to sabotage others' efforts to get close to him by withholding the parts of himself which, arguably, matter the most when it comes to developing connections built to last. This makes him easy to hang out with, but difficult to know in a capacity that's really impactful.
(What; like he's supposed to think that someone actually just likes and values him? Please.)
⚙️ AFFECTION. Seventeen's fondness for various forms of play really can't be overstated; nor can the fact that play is one of the primary tools in his arsenal for sizing others up, determining what kind of person they are, assessing what he thinks or feels about them (and what they think or feel about him), and articulating the flavor of dynamic he has/wants to have with them. He often displays a droll, needling sense of humor; and has a fondness for back-and-forth irreverent banter. For people who don't know him -- (which is...pretty much everybody, if we're being altogether real about it) -- it can be difficult to tell at first if Seventeen's particular form of teasing is meant to annoy, fluster, anger, confuse, obfuscate, flirt, mock, simply garner some form of reaction no matter what it might be, or what.
In truth though, the answer is that all of these can be correct. Context is king. The method that he uses to show derision might be very similar to the one that he uses to show affection. The same words can feel entirely different with even only the most minor differences of tone and expression.
The important thing to know at the end of the day is that, if you want to develop any variety of rapport with him, you've got to play the game -- or at least get enough understanding of the rules to decipher what you're looking at when he shows it to you.

If Sonic is evolved from a Chao, then what’s up with the other character Chao? (Genuine question)
OKAY. the answer is this: (it gets long sorry)
there are amy, shadow, tails, knuckles, and sonic chao in the games. HOWEVER, sonic, shadow, and tails are the only character chao that are actually in regular copies of sa2/etc. sonic and shadow are very specific types of chao as well- they are GENUINE chao evolutions, as the neutral and dark run/run chao.
i suppose the argument COULD be made that these five are also chao. but the core aspect of this theory is the idea that chaos energy mutated a normal chao into sonic. so:
1. other than sonic and shadow, the other characters don’t have a particularly strong connection to the chaos emeralds
the core theory is that chaos energy creates sonic into a chao. sonic and shadow are the ONLY characters in the series who are able to use the emeralds to achieve a super form REPEATEDLY. knuckles, tails, and silver have also been able to achieve a super form, but knuckles and tails have only done so a handful of times, in an arguably grey area of canon, and silver only does so once. they may be able to transform, but they can not do so REPEATEDLY. there are thousands of times where it would be convenient for them to transform as well and aid sonic in a battle, but they do not, because they can not. my assumption is that chaos energy is just too wild for normal people to handle for long periods of time. sage in sonic frontiers also notes that sonic using the emeralds as he does is remarkably abnormal. super transformations are weird, and rare.
(note: what about sonic heroes? i don’t consider the bubble sonic puts around knuckles and tails as a super form. they don’t even change color. so it looks like chaos energy was around them, not IN them. sonic still seemed to be the one in control instead of it equal like in 06)
this sets up for sonic to have a parallel to perfect chaos, as the only other creature than shadow we’ve seen use the chaos emeralds to transform more than once in a way that is absolutely, one hundred percent canon. the idea behind the theory is that sonic evolved from the chaos energy to replace the rold chaos had left behind when sealed in the master emerald/when he seems to “move on” in sa1. sonic becomes essentially the guardian of the emeralds in a way comparable to blaze, but without the title. sonic actively seeks out the emeralds, tracks them down, and keeps them out of bad people’s hands, like eggman. sonic has an established connection to the chaos emeralds- he’s the one always in the special zones to find them, he’s the one who can do chaos control (with a FAKE emerald), he’s the one who goes into a super state.
none of the other characters have a connection to the emeralds and their energy quite like sonic. tails and amy most certainly don’t.
i suppose you COULD make the argument that knuckles does, and thus could be a chao. however, that completely UNDERMINES HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER. knuckles is the very last echidna alive who grapples with isolation and understanding his heritage. so while you COULD claim he’s actually the next chaos, as a guardian of the master emerald, no parents, and a connection to the energy, it just narratively does not make sense, and would honestly suck lmao.
2. it just wouldn’t particularly make sense?
explained above, knuckles has a pretty solid backstory. he’s literally the last echidna of the knuckles tribe, he’s probably one of the characters with the most fleshed out backstory. narratively, it doesn’t really make sense for him to be a chao.
tails also has a pretty well established backstory- an orphan who was bullied a lot because of his intelligence and his weird two tails. the idea that tails, who’s pretty much a normal kid other than his mutation and prodigy abilities, was actually a chao this entire time, isn’t very satisfying, either. i think it sort of minimizes the idea of him being bullied- that his bullies were right, that he was different from everyone, because he was a chao, not a mobian. i also just think it doesn’t make sense, because as we’ve seen, tails doesn't have much connection to the chaos emeralds or knuckles clan lore or anything of the sort. it just doesn't make sense narrartively.
the same goes for my. while she doesn’t have as much of a backstory as the other characters, it just wouldn’t make sense for her to be a chao when she has NO connection to the chaos emeralds at all. the main theory behind this is the idea that chaos energy mutated a chao into a mobian. amy ahsn’t even gone super or chaos controlled. she doesn’t have a connection to the emeralds, a physical one like sonic or a cultural one like knuckles. it just wouldn’t make sense for her.
sonic, however, has absolutely no backstory in the game canon before sonic 1. sonic has an innate connection with the chaos emeralds, with a repeated super transformation (and even a step further, with the hyper transformation). he even has a cultural connection, given the fact that there’s statues of him in hydrocity and the mural of him in the hidden palace. sonic’s the one who uses the emeralds, sonic’s the one who dives into the special zones, sonic’s the one who defeats and calms perfect chaos, sonic’s the one who saves the emeralds from trouble. sonic’s the one with an undefined backstory and where being a chao wouldn’t be particularly narratively troubling.
3. what about the fucking shadow chao
i didnt talk much about shadow in the above points because there’s actually a pretty easy explanation. we know gerald explored various DNA sources for the ultimate lifeform- black arms, salamanders, etc. is it impossible to believe that he also explored chao dna?
chao have a very VERY very strange connection between life and death. some chao are straight up immortal while others go through reincarnation. gerald, interested in studying an ultimate, immortal lifeform in hopes of a cure, would no doubt be interested in the prospect of chao.
gerald may have seen the murals in the hidden palace and saw a dark run/run chao and made a pretty decent connection. that perhaps chao dna could help him find the ultimate lifeform. so the general idea is that gerald may have intentionally modeled him off of the dark run/run chao instead of just a normal mobian hedgehog, and even shares genes with chao.
anyway tldr: most of the characters have an established backstory that conflicts with them being evolved from chao, they don’t have connection to the emeralds, wheras sonic has a connection and no backstory, and shadow might just be based off a dark run/run chao instead of a normal mobian thanks to gerald.

PLEASE TALK ABOUT GOJO AND KASHIMO BEING CHARACTER FOILS
GLADLY.
surprising no one, this got extremely long. analysis below cut!
okay. as we know, gojo's true desire is for people to see him as a person beyond his strength. that he's more than just the six-eyes, limitless, The Strongest. he wants others to treat him like a normal person despite his power. in forming a connection with someone, strength truly does not matter to him.
conversely, as it stands in 32, kashimo doesn't care about anything except strength. their sense of worth towards others is entirely correlated with how powerful they are; nothing else matters beyond that. they traveled through centuries solely for the purpose of fighting the strongest person they'd heard of. it goes beyond just "the thrill of the fight" -- it's taking on larger-than-life challenges, pushing past their limits, and validating their existence through victory. becoming The Strongest is their end goal, and they believe that is the only thing that could ever be fulfilling to them.
gojo is far, far past that point. he finds fulfillment in forming bonds with others and protecting his loved ones, while kashimo currently believes that caring about people or living for someone other than themself is a complete waste of time. they don't believe they could find joy through anything other than violence, which is arguably not a real place in which to find joy to begin with. they're not open to the possibility that they could be wrong, that there could be more to life than fighting. while gojo is a very emotional person, even if he sometimes tries to hide it, kashimo locks away any and all genuine emotions before they have a chance to grow. 'emotionally unavailable' doesn't even begin to cover it.
as for their similarities: both of them are a fish out of water. gojo from how he was isolated most of his life because of his strength, while kashimo is new to this millenium. as kjk so rudely stated:
"Do not forget what you are: an outdated sorcerer with no one and nothing in a time they don’t belong."
there was a reason i used that word in kjk's sentence. belong. one of kashimo's major narrative themes is about belonging. and what have we stressed throughout this story? is belonging really about a time or a place, or is it about--
--a person?
the biggest similarity between gojo and kashimo is the fact that they're partnered with people who are quite literally the worst possible people they could care about. gojo erased toji's memories then stole his kids and now has to construct a lie in order to keep his life from falling apart, while mahito is literally a curse. at the time they were paired with their respective partners, gojo had resigned himself to the notion of being alone, while kashimo's first life was entirely alone, never having anyone they considered precious to them.
gojo knew he was in trouble the moment he started feeling attached to toji, but he proceeded anyway because he was so desperate for someone to see him for who he is and care about him as a person. as for kashimo, how is someone who has never cared about anyone going to react to the notion that maybe, just maybe, they care about an actual monster in a way that could severely impact their life and perhaps get in the way of them achieving their goals? gojo has a tendency to go into deflection and denial when faced with unwanted emotions. perhaps our electric friend may feel the same.
but while gojo's defense mechanism was to pull toji closer, kashimo may instinctively try to push mahito away. after all, why bother trying to form a connection with someone you think could never reciprocate those sentiments? whose very existence you reject? it's beyond an uphill battle, and it's not even one they want to fight. they currently believe they exist for the singular goal of fighting sukuna. they don't want to waste their time thinking about a different curse when they think they know how that would turn out.
as with all character foils in this story, their actions and outlooks will profoundly influence each other throughout their encounters. i'm really, REALLY excited to write more kashimo, and their future interactions with gojo are a huge part of that. look forward to it!

So this is my opinion on "anime girls suffering" media. Because i feel like there's so SO fucking many pieces of media that revolves around cute anime girls experiencing pain. Like a fuck ton.
•Utena doesnt count as one because the suffering is too subtle and not rlly one of the main focuses ig? I mean it is but in a different way
•corpse party only halfway counts bcs the girl characters arent the main focus most of the time
•saya no uta does count because even though saya caused a lot of said suffering, she still does suffer due to isolation from others due to being a monster
•Madoka, Magical girl site, school live, ddlc count
• Elfen Lied counts halfway. The main character is a guy but he's so incredibly bland and the girl characters are the main focus so its rlly arguable. Generally i consider it a girls having bad things happen to them media.
• Princess tutu does NOT count. Her suffering is minimal in comparison and its a kids anime so it doesnt rlly go as far.

The Beast abused Belle and he doesn’t deserve her or her love, get over it💅
Disclaimer: Like whatever you want to like, I don’t care. However, the excuses people keep making and the wishful thinking people keep having around Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) can be Frustrating with a capital F. Here’s why that is...
Most adaptations of Beauty and the Beast, especially Disney's animated adaptation from 1991, hinge on a romance that is based on abduction, imprisonment, isolation, manipulation, and other forms of abuse perpetrated by the titular Beast.
It's super weird how people will jump through all the hoops to make claims that Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991) is somehow so progressive or inspiring to the masses. Stating that it's a story about bettering one's own self, mutual respect, friendship, redemption, and other such absolute nonsense, at least in the context of this particular property. Pretty sure a story, particularly a narrative targeted at children, can be about all those lovely things without a character imprisoning, isolating, threatening, and abusing their intended love interest like a total bastard. That and a character can be redeemed all without being romantically coupled with another character they abused. It doesn’t matter that he seemingly changed for the better, the Beast still abused Belle and still got exactly what he wanted in the end: her. Additionally, the circumstances under which Belle became the Beast's prisoner don't matter, because the Beast has all the control over her. Belle """offering/agreeing""" to become his prisoner in place of her father was done under duress; "but she offered/agreed to it" does not hold up under scrutiny, y'all should know that.
There's also the fact that without Belle acting as the catalyst for this so-called change, the Beast wouldn't have become a better person; he ultimately had to rely on Belle to start changing himself. Like it or not, it's Belle's role in the story to rehabilitate the Beast and help him better himself; it is the abused person's responsibility to improve the life of their abuser. Furthermore, there are more than enough stories that follow this trend of a man abusing a woman and somehow winning her and her love at the end as a reward and Disney’s BatB is just one example of this. It’s as if finally becoming a decent person guarantees that a presumably reformed abuser will be rewarded with the love of the person they antagonized and traumatized. That’s not a totally terrible message for kids at all, clearly. No sirree, it’s fun for the whole family!🙄
It's rich knowing how these same fans, especially those who simp hardcore for the intellectual property, will be hyper critical of the 2017 Disney iteration. Finally, they'll point out how the relationship between Belle and the Beast is toxic or whatever. It's like: God, you're all so close to truly realizing that the original film is also wretched in that regard. However, it's usually all just a front to mercilessly shit on Emma Watson and brand her with the Not My Belle™️ moniker. Thus, most criticism is pretty hollow and even misogynistic with the sheer volume of rather vitriolic """criticism""" she gets, all while her counterpart Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast btw, receives virtually none. I get it friendos, BatB (2017) is bad, but arguably the original sin from 1991 is much worse and deserves much more ire for representing a very troubled, bad romance.
In the (Disney) BatB fandom, there's so much energy spent exempting the Beast from any responsibility of his mistreatment and downright abuse of Belle/Beauty and pretty much anyone else around him. At every turn, the Beast is absolved of any responsibility for his horrid actions, that or his abusive tendencies are absurdly minimized. Sometimes, Belle is even blamed for being abused by the Beast! For example: Beast told her not to go to the West Wing, so she deserves to be assaulted and threatened by him. Dear Lord, that’s some spicy victim blaming!🥵 Or sometimes, the fandom will reason that because Belle is strong willed and feisty in the face of the Beast's abuse, she's totally fine in this situation… as the Beast continues to undermine her autonomy by holding her prisoner while intimidating and verbally harassing her???🙃
It's almost comical to witness these Beast simps compare him to the likes of Edward Cullen from Twilight, Kylo Ren from Star Wars, and other less than stellar romantic leads only to very ironically treat the Beast as if he’s so much better than the rest!🤣 Like, goodness the lack of self-awareness is so real. Kyle Ron, Edwin Cullen, AND Beast aka Adum, are all dogshit lovers, let’s not play games with this.
The ongoing popularity of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and the rather obtuse, even hypocritical fandom that keeps it alive are just such an annoying bummer. I swear one of these days I’m going to make a huge project of some kind dedicated to how Beauty and the Beast-type stories are entwined with issues of (internalized) misogyny, romanticizing and normalizing abusive relationships and domestic violence in mass media, the privileging of violent men  and monstrosity often being displayed as an inherently male trait in patriarchal society, the false narrative that abused people must forgive and even rehabilitate their abusers, and so on. There’d be a lot to discuss. For now, there’s just this very informal snippet.
Oh! Also, before I forget, and I mean this with all my heart, fuck Disney.

❤️Love Languages❤️
Tumblr media
I had this idea in mind for a while and now I'm finally posting it! For a hot minute, I was highly interested in love languages and took a test of my own. Apparently, I'm a gift-giver which isn't really surprising if you know me personally. So I decided to write down what I think my characters' love languages are.
Mjøsa's would be acts of service, she'd bend hell over backward for the Bevy. If she cares about you, she'll go out of her way to make sure you're okay. Need something? She'll get it in an hour. Hungry? Here's some fish she caught. Tired? She'll carry you home. She's sweet deep down, but please don't take advantage, she's been through a lot.
Lucille would be a gift giver. She has a strange way of showing love and buying stuff is one of the healthiest ways she knows how. Money talks to this fashionista. Hence her giving Olevia most of her clothes. Jose definitely benefits from the relationship and holds no shame in being known as her "sugar baby." She mostly gives clothes and jewelry since they are important to her and a major factor in her career.
Nedjem is a terrible gift giver, but what he is great at is words of affirmation. He excels at encouraging others to do their best. When he does take time to think through his words, they hold value. He channels his father when the moment is right. Also, he gives great hugs, so he has a hint of physical touch as a love language too.
To Olevia, quality time is important. Growing up isolated is not ideal for her, so going out of her way to spend time with someone and get to know them is important. Whether it's baking with someone, training with Dai Tai, flying with her kids, or reading with Renee, Olevia takes the time to heart and carries those moments with her. The ultimate proof of love (for Olevia's case lol) she's sentimental like that. Also, she loves to dance (not the best but can hold a rhythm). Dancing can be intimate for her, holding someone close. Guess that ties to physical touch as well.
Empusa is a touchy person, there's not a moment where she isn't touching her mother or one of her cult members. If she has genuine feelings of love for you, physical touch is a must, she needs to feel skin-on-skin contact. Whether skimming her hand along their back, massaging shoulders, or even playing with fingers are proclamations of love. Surprisingly, if she's feeling especially touchy, she enjoys holding hands. There's an intimacy to it she can't explain, so holding hands is a big step lol.
Sophia is a tricky one, but arguably hers are words of affirmation. Let's be honest though if she' even wants to talk to you outside of her work speaks volumes to your character. Also what she'll say to you won't necessarily be compliments, but back-handed ones. Again, be glad she wants to speak with you, means you meet her high standards for a decent person.
Jodie when she finds someone she likes, she'll stick to them. Become attached to the hip, so to speak. Arthur and Dottie can attest, that Jodie enjoys sticking close to those she cares for. Family scavenger hunts, picnics, nap times, Jodie is always down for quality time and group relaxation.
For Arthur, you know how when you laugh you make eye contact with the person closest to you? Or how when Scooby is scared, he jumps into Shaggy's arms and vice versa? Physical contact with someone he's closest to brings him great comfort. Although he does get annoyed when Jodie highjacks his cases, he's low-key happy to have another presence to join him for the ride.
Gem has the best taste when it comes to gift giving. Growing up with only his mother, he learns to pay attention to what she likes and, especially when a sale goes right, he splurges on his mom (definitely a momma's boy). However, knowing Gem he can use it in a nefarious fashion gifting others to manipulate them to get what he wants. Similar to this scene in Arcane with Mel gifting the councilor that trinket, knowing it would make him favor her. Gem knows how to turn a diamond into coal, so just pay attention to what you have that he may want.
BONUS: Drew values quality time. Growing up in a circus, she enjoyed stretching and working out with her parents. She'd love to share her passion for keeping herself fit with someone who holds the same values. Helping them stretch while talking about their day sounds like a good time for Drew.
Welp, that's all for now! Once I get more adjusted to my new job, I'll hopefully be able to hop on here more. Send in asks if you want, take care!
