"let's make a deal", with and without Akechi's confidant

So the final showdown in the engine room differs in P5R, based on whether or not you max out Akechi's confidant. Let's take a look.

At this point, Akechi has raised the bulkhead door and is trapped on the wrong side of it, seriously wounded, with a furious Cognitive Akechi and a small mountain of shadows. Things do not look good for our deuteragonist:

Akechi: The real fools... are you guys. You should have just abandoned me here a long time ago. Akechi: You would have all perished... if you had tried to face these with me weighing you down.

[Phantom Thieves all go !]

Makoto [stepping forward]: Akechi-kun! Akechi: Let's make a deal, okay? You won't say no, will you? Yusuke [stepping forward]: Why, at a time like this!? Akechi: Change Shido's heart... in my stead... End his crimes... Akechi: Please!

Now here's our first divergence. You are offered different options, depending on whether or not you have the confidant:

without Akechi's confidant at stage 9

Joker can say either "I promise", or "Leave it to me". Aww, he's a good guy at heart, is our Akiren. This guy tried to shoot him and everything.

And what's Akechi's response? He opens his eyes, nods and smiles.

Aww. But note that he ALWAYS sacrifices himself, and for the same reasons. The difference the confidant makes is not to do with that—it's to do with something quite different, which we'll explore below....

with akechi's confidant at level 9

Now here are the options we all know and angst over:

A stage 9 confidant Joker, who has that bond with Akechi, who had the stage 8 showdown with him in Mementos and got the glove, gets "You better deliver your promise" and "I'll hold on to your glove".

And when you pick your option, what does Akechi do? Well, for a start, he has an emotional response:

... remember we talked about how the "empty" icon, from the interrogation room, doubles as the "feeling some unnameable emotion" face? Well, here it is again; you can see the model doing the same thing behind the sprite. If you don't max his confidant, you never see this. Only an Akechi who has connected with Joker over the year gets this shocked response when Joker challenges him for the last time. And, to be honest, it's not all that unnameable an emotion. This Akechi, in his final moments, knows what he's doing, and why, and can admit it—at least to himself.

Akechi ハッ、この期に及んでそれを言う?全く君ってヤツは、本当に⋯ ha! kono ki ni oyonde sore o iu? mattaku kimi tte yatsu wa, hontou ni... Heh... After all this, that's what you have to say? Seriously, you really are... Heh. That's what you say, at a time like this? I can't believe—you really are....

And it's only then that he trails off into the tiny smile.

Akechi never finishes that last sentence; he leaves something unsaid. Could be anything. Could be "ridiculous", could be "stupid"; could be any of Akechi's pet insults. But there's another possibility, that Akechi has been applying to Joker all along. He's called him it in this scene, before the fight. He called him it throughout his confidant. He's meant it more and more as the year has progressed.

That word is 面白い omoshiroi—"interesting, fun; fascinating". Yeah. "You'd better come through for me", Joker tells Akechi, who's about to die. "I swear to God," Akechi tells him in disbelief, "you never cease to amaze me."

At least, that's how I imagine it. And in my truther head, that's the difference between Akechi surviving and not. This Akechi, who couldn't care even when Cognitive Akechi had a gun to his head, gets something to live for at the last second; the one in the no-confidant engine room, who never appears in the post-credit sequence, did not.

Here's the excerpt:

Baww.

the end of the scene

Cognitive Akechi: You bastard... Akechi [struggling to his feet]: So, my final enemy is a puppet version of myself...

... and immediately fork for the second time.

Akechi [without confidant]: Not bad. Akechi [with confidant]: I...!

"I"?? "I", Akechi??? WHAT WERE YOU GOING TO SAY?

Non-confidant Akechi has settled for the irony of taking out "the puppet [he] was" (ningyo datta ore jishin, localised as "a puppet version of myself"); he considers this "not bad". This is also the line you get in vanilla P5, where the confidant was automatic.

But confidant Akechi's sentence is unfinished. He has left something undone. He has something left to say, something left to do. Something to live for.

I wonder what it is, at that moment, that he's regretting, or determined to do, or undo, or redo. What it is that gives him the strength to survive. Because we're all friends here; we all know he makes it, somehow.

The only hint in the original is that his line is not just ore, but ore wa—Akechi is comparing himself to others. So the sense is perhaps that Cognitive Akechi is "the puppet he was", but Akechi himself is no longer a puppet. It's good. But non-confidant Akechi would share that same sentiment. Something more is going on here.

With that, we move on to the end of the scene:

Haru [running forward]: Akechi-kun! Ann [stepping forward]: Isn't there some way to get this open, Mona?

[two gunshots are heard, about a second apart—and yes, they are identical in both routes and both language tracks]

Futaba: His signal is... gone... Futaba: I'm only getting... the weaklings... Ann: No... Morgana: Come on, you guys! Morgana: We can't let a rotten criminal like Shido do what he wants any longer! Morgana: We can't... no matter what!

Two things here. First, the second's delay on the gunshots seems... odd; I'd expect the shots to be either simultaneous or for there to be only one shot. Maybe someone who's ever seen a gun can clarify this. Though the fact that the shots are always identical suggests that this is not significant.

Second, Futaba always has both of her lines. I've seen it said that these are different depending on your confidant track, but no. She always says she can't detect a signal, and she always says she only detects the "weaklings".

I do find it interesting that, like the true ending cutscene, these tracks are so much more different than I realised depending on your Akechi choices. One of these paths is also clearly much more interesting than the other—the Akechi confidant track is the "true ending", the true plot; the other is there for the weirdos who just hate murder and treachery and pancakes, idk. Which is why the no-confidant 2/2 scene, where Akechi never shows up and is revived because Maruki thinks all the PTs want him back, doesn't make so much sense.

I have never liked fighting games all that much... too competitive for me! And often so complicated. No thank you.

But a fighting game where every character is a funny robot with floating limbs and the main character is some pink orbs with an eyes? Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joy Mech Fight is very silly and strange, and it is also a fighting game for the Famicom, and that is why it is so silly and strange. But it’s pretty genius! To have the characters be so big and animated, their bodies are made of small, disconnected sprites that can go all over the place! It is very impressive!

The game’s story is NOT impressive! It is nearly identical to the plot of Mega Man. Two scientists make robots, one becomes evil and makes the robots evil, the good one has to reprogram a non-combat robot to fight, that whole thing. The bad scientist’s name even starts with a W! He has an evil castle with a W on it! It’s really quite funny. His name is Dr. Walnuts.

Anyway, the aforementioned non-combat robot is Sukapon! My beloved bundle of balls! Sukapon is a comedy robot who loves nothing more than to stand up on stage and be silly. And even as a Fighting Robot, this personality does not change!

Here is Sukapon’s “Good Punch”. I think it’s pretty good!

And this is one of Sukapon’s signature moves, Tondeker, in which it throws one of its head! It has an infinite supply of its own head, so it’s ok. See how impressive? They figured out infinite matter generation in this game!

In the opening cutscene of the game... we get to witness the Birth Of Sukapon!

One day in the lab, a robot is being made! Some kind of serious-looking guy, in a tube. This serious guy is very important, and is in fact my favorite character in the game! We’ll get to that. What’s important is that the procedure is activated, something goes wrong, and there’s an explosion...

And out comes Sukapon! Dancing with glee! Happy birthday! See? That serious-looking guy is my favorite character, because that was Sukapon all along! It seems the Sukapon we know is a sort of unintended result. Cuter, sillier, pinker. Better! I’m not sure what the original robot was supposed to be, but it doesn’t look like much of a comedian. Whatever the case, even though things did not go as planned, Sukapon is well loved, and gets to be as silly as it wants!

As the story mode goes on, Sukapon’s opponents get stronger and stronger, including stronger versions of previous opponents... and even a stronger version of Sukapon! This is Sukapokon! I feel like this is a very profound moment in Sukapon’s journey. It’s come so far, defeated so many powerful opponents, but here it is, faced with an objectively better version of itself. That’s heavy stuff for a robot! And you know what? Sukapon wins, against all odds! I honestly feel like a situation like this is worthy of being a final boss battle, with the personal stakes and impact it has for Sukapon as a character.

In reality, the game does not give this battle any more fanfare than all the rest! This is all Dr. Walnuts has to say about Sukapokon:

Yeah, ok. Whatever, gramps!

Sadly, Nintendo would go on to lose the rights to Joy Mech Fight, preventing Sukapon from making further appearances... but then they found the rights! They had literally just misplaced them.

Most recently, Sukapon has appeared as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, its second major appearance ever, but a very notable one! Fully modeled HD Sukapon, doing recreations of classic Sukapon attacks! What’s that you got there, Sukapon? A Luigi? What fun! Just make sure you put it back where you found it when you’re done playing!

I will leave you with a tidbit that will change your perception of Sukapon forever. The U is basically silent! It’s pronounced Skapon! Now you can go back and reread the post with this knowledge, and it is like you get a whole extra post for free!

The Glitchy Red brainrot is real rn not gonna lie. Could we get something where reader somehow obtains Red’s cartridge and tries their hardest to befriend him? Like maybe Red’s very untrusting at first but slowly starts warming up to them.

When you obtained a copy of Pokémon Red, you weren’t expecting the MC to be both self-aware and extremely arrogant.

He refused to move outside his home no matter what you did, the text box telling you things like “no” and “not going out there” and “I’m sick of it”.

You wondered out loud what hurt him (in a joking way like, “damn who hurt you”), surprised to see him actually respond.

“It’s all of you players. You come back for “nostalgia”, thinking it’s funny to break this game even more. But none of you know how much I suffer for it....not that you care or anything...” The text speed is slow, ensuring you saw every word he was speaking.

You immediately feel bad, telling Glitchy you’re not trying to mess with the game or exploit glitches. You just wanted to enjoy the original story.

Still, he doesn’t trust you and tells you to destroy the game itself.

“What? I can’t do that. Won’t it kill you?”

“...it’s better than suffering in this hell.”

“But..it feels wrong,” you frown. “Knowing you’re alive and..all that. I know other people have hurt you before, but I’m sure we can figure out something-”

“Don’t pity me. Don’t give me that “I’m not like the others” crap. To you, all I’ll ever be is a stupid video game character. I’m sick of wasting my time with you, goodbye-”

“Red, I’m not pitying you. I believe you’re real, and destroying the game would..feel like murder. Just let me convince you that I’m on your side.”

“........”

“Please.”

“...fine.” He begrudgingly agrees, but only bc deep in his hateful heart he wants to believe you.

Thus he lets you play the game like normal--or as normally as you could given how corrupt the world is at this point. It’s not the same but still nostalgic nevertheless.

Sometimes he goes on tangents about how he hated being “demoted” and “replaced” (plus the pain of knowing events are scripted...so it feels like nothing he does matters in the end), thinking he’s better off being a forgotten memory.

“I’m merely a prisoner who’s been given the ILLUSION of choice...”

“I don’t think they’re all illusions, Red. You’ve had choices of your own to make.”

“Did I...?”

“Maybe not in-game choices, but you chose to talk to me.” You pointed out. “You could’ve sabotaged the game whenever, but you let me enjoy the story and keep you company throughout it. Those choices came from your heart, and not some ridiculous code. I think those are the ones that matter most..which means you do matter.”

He’s silent for a long time, his sprite staring at you. Had things in the background not been moving as normal, you would’ve thought the game froze.

Maybe he thought your words were too cheesy.

But then....

“......that’s actually comforting to hear. Thanks...”

“=)”

You just smile at the screen.

At least he was finally warming up to you.

Sun Wukong A Bad Mentor??

I wanted to make this post so I could place my opinions on this topic. I know many people have already posted about this a lot before but I just wanted to say this and make my points. It a bit wordy just to be warned.

Many people see Wukong as a bad mentor because of the LBD arch. Where he left MK and went on his "vacation." But we the viewer have seen that wasn't the case. He did not sit back and relax as MK protected the city. Wukong was on a major task of researching Lady Bone Demon, this is something he has done before in the Journey to the West. He finds what he can about his opponent and uses what he finds as a way to predict their movements. He was playing smarter, not stronger. When LBD showed Wukong her predictions she showed him MK being burned and the world destroyed. This made Wukong doubt himself and his power as we see in Season 4 he states the original reason he sought out immortality and more strength was to be able to protect and he lost his way.

This is similar he may have gone about communicating it to MK the wrong way but he did not do this for selfish reasons he did it for the sole purpose of protecting MK. The LBD's powers stem from fear, when that scene of MK burning was shown to WUkong it shows that his fear was losing MK. Remember Mk has not been learning long and these are complex powers that take a long amount of training. Wukong training with Mk would know where Monkie Kid's limit would be. He knew the kid would not be able to handle a Demon of this magnitude.

Yes, he let MK handle DBK alone but he was a small fry compared to LBD. DBK was a villain that was making some smaller plans unlike LBD she was a calculating mind that had A plan that was years in the making. She was one that had more brain than brawn and that's what made her different than the others. Wukong knows this having faced all these guys before. MK having Wukong power means he can out-brawn them but the kid would not know the mental mind games LBD would be playing.

With his student's life pretty much threatened by a powerful demon that was mentally crazy. Wukong distances himself from MK. MK the ball of sunshine that wants to help and wants to keep proving himself Wukong would know that if MK knew about this mission he would want to join. If Wukong refused him then MK might feel like he doesn't trust him. If Wukong just left MK after denying him MK might have tried to follow Wukong and get into trouble. Acting goofy about the whole thing was most likely meant to reassure MK that everything was okay. He did all that while on the inside he was stressing out and panicking about what could be.

Wukong is seen doing that a lot reassuring MK that MK can do anything and that everything is alright. Something a lot of adults try to do for children. Wukong has proven time and time again to be a protective and encouraging mentor. Trying to lift MKs sprites does he do a perfect job no and can you blame him the last human contact he had was hundreds of years ago. But he tries and he has been trying.

The things Wukong has done to be a better mentor like when he went on stage to please MK neglecting his own boundaries for the kid. He watches over MK during some of his fights and steps in when he needs with sage advice.

If Wukong always stepped in then MK would never be able to gain the self-confidence he needed. Mk also would never learn from his mistakes. Wukong made many mistakes in the past and the consequence only showed up years too late. When Wukong faced punishment what he did was set in stone for those around him it was already too late to take anything back. But with MK facing things he fixed his mistakes faster than Wukong got to do in his youth.

Wukongs enemies have seen a lot of Wukong in MK and who's to say Wukong doesn't see that too. With years of reflection and learning from mistakes. He wants to clearly set MK on the right path. He wants to give MK the lessons he wishes others taught him before he made his mistakes. He want to be the master that his were not for him. Understanding, supportive, and encouraging. Instead of degrading and pounding his spirit to the ground with golden fillets and harsh words, but to lead him down the right path with words of advice to listen to. He wanted to give MK the one thing he didn't have someone that understood, the struggle of being a hero, the pedestal that a hero can never seem to step down from, the self-doubt the two of them are a lot alike that gives each of them kinship.

We all seem to forget that the world is not black and white and in the LMK universe, we don't actually have the full story. This Wukong is very different from the Wukong in the books. Things that happened in the book did not happen here, things that happened here did not in the book.

So many condemn Wukong for so much. Saying things like if Wukong had just dealt with the villains in the past then Mk wouldn't be dealing with them now. To you sure but you must remember he traveled with the pacifist Tripitaka. During the journey, he condemn violence including those that would save his life or stop the destruction. TRIPITAKA, THIS IS THE MAN THAT DECIDED TO SEAL LBD INSTEAD OF GETTING RID OF HER BELIEVING THAT SHE COULD BE REDEEMED! And in the book if you do want to go off of it. many of the demons were former apprentices or pets, or animals that belong to or with gods, goddesses, sages, etc. Many of them were spared because of who they were.

We have to watch and listen again look at the expression hear the tone in the voice, read the atmosphere. Please remember to see things through others' eyes before you judge before you condemn. I'm not saying he's a saint I'm saying you can't heal a wound when it is repeatedly stabbed open again and again. By living in the past there is no bright future. For a brighter future for Wukong AND the others, we need to live in the here and now and look to the future.

Magnus isn’t sure what has his magic so on edge. So vibrantly agitated that it’s almost impatient in the way it begs his attention but then stalls, as if unsure what to do or where to go.

It’s strange but it’s hardly dangerous, so Magnus ignores it and focuses on finishing his chores.

There’s a dead seelie that requires discreet disposal.

Magnus isn’t normally one to use the same place too often, but something about the particular lake he portals to has always beckoned to him. Between the fact that the lake is hidden in a naturally made rift and using some rather clever warding magic, the lake has remained undisturbed for decades.

Magnus feels content and welcome in the wild and natural beauty of the very well hidden lake, a feeling that is rare and so all the more valuable.

It’s all the more strange that it's one of the only places that Magnus can consistently dispose of annoyances without worrying about evidence.

Because Magnus has tested it, nothing that he ever gets rid of resurfaces, as if the tranquil lake holds an abyss beneath her waters.

It feels right, to throw the bodies into the stillness of the giant lake and use magic to drag them quickly to the bottom. Magnus isn’t sure what consumes the bodies, but he knows it’s efficient and that the sprites and fauna thrives off of both the bodies and his magic.

It’s a slow day and his list of necessary things is done, so Magnus summons himself a blanket, takes off his shoes and socks, and dips his toes into the cool, blue shallows.

Magnus takes a moment and just breathes in the wild magic of the air and the scent of shadow lilies that bob in the shallows.

There are little fish that chase the glints of sunlight through the shallows. A few braver ones nibbling shyly at his toes.

It tickles unexpectedly and Magnus can’t help his reflexive jerk. It scares away the fish and Magnus’ toes catch on a sharp rock with a sting and a little bloom of pink before the water washes it away.

Magnus heals it without a thought and as the fish return, he lets himself relax back into the warm sun. It takes several minutes for his spine to tense and his instincts flare with alarm and Magnus knows someone is watching him.

There is a very focused presence on him. Magnus’ instincts can feel the intensity and weight of his watcher to his bones.

He opens his eyes slowly, preparing magic and blinks.

There is a very gorgeous, naked fae in front of him. He’s covered in small scars and what might be runes and his long hair is in a tangled braid, twined with vine and bone.

He’s so utterly perfect and he’s glaring at Magnus.

An enticing pout sits on the downturned curve of his mouth as he wades closer. Each step bares more of him as water sluices off his muscles and Magnus leans back on his elbows, enjoying the view.

“It’s been over four decades.” Magnus is told calmly but grumpily. “I appreciate you valuing me so much. But I am tired of waiting. Consider me wooed.”

The man is in front of Magnus by the time he’s finished speaking and he drops a small bag before he climbs —naked and dripping wet— right into Magnus’ lap and sits down like it’s his due.

Like he belongs there.

Magnus finds that he does not mind.

Any of this.

Magnus’ mind is working quickly to piece together an idea of what happened. But he has to be careful as he tests his theory. There’s no safe way to make a mistake with a fae and the one in his lap will be gone if Magnus gets it wrong.

“And did you enjoy it, my wooing you?” Magnus asks and he puts a proprietary hand on the man’s ass, pulling him closer. Muscles tense under his grip and Magnus clenches his fingers hungrily.

It earns him a pleased hum of agreement and damp fingers petting down Magnus’ silk sleeves, tracing the way the silk hugs Magnus biceps.

“Do I get to know my lovely boy’s name?” Magnus asks, still slow and careful as he figures out just what is his to take.

“Alec. Alexander, for you.” Is murmured against his cheek like a confession, like it’s a gift. As if that part of him now belongs to Magnus and Magnus feels the shiver of power in his words.

Cool lips brush his jaw and Magnus is hanging onto his control by a thread.

—Ragnor had better be bloody thrilled than his stupid little lectures on ‘self-restraint’ and ‘no sex with fae until you know what the cost is’ have been drilled into Magnus’ instincts—

“I’m Magnus, darling.” Magnus pets Alexander’s flank with his free hand and chuckles when his muscles jump at the touch. “Sensitive, aren’t you?” He asks and then reminds himself not to be distracted. He’s still not sure exactly how this misunderstanding happened.

“I owe you a gift for taking so long when you’ve been so patient. What should I get you, hmm? Tell me.”

It’s better to be as direct with fae as possible. Magnus needs to keep his wits as much as he can until this thing between them is settled.

Alexander pauses from where he’s been clumsily trying to rip off Magnus’ clothes. And Magnus really needs to figure out if this is a sexy thing, or a ‘you owe me your heart literally’ kind of thing.

Quickly.

“You’ve been wooing me for decades.” Alexander says, voice puzzled and his gaze continually slides from meetings Magnus own; to looking hungrily at Magnus torso.

“Why would I need more gifts when you’re finally here? You’ve fed me for years and you finally let me taste your blood!” Alexander gives a huff of outrage, face dark as he tugs harder on Magnus’ vest —grumbling at how complicated the whale bone pearl buttons that Magnus loves are.

“I don’t want an apology gift! I want to know how you’re going to finally bond with me when you have all of this on?” Alexander complains as he finally gives up on the buttons. It's so sincere and endearing that Magnus has to fight back laughter.

He succeeds only because this is not a laughing matter.

And because Alexander will not take his frustrations over a slow courtship being laughed at well. It’s easier than it should be to refocus and it’s only because the thought of fucking Alexander steals away his breath.

“Oh, this is for you. Luck and protection, the others are for later, this was the first.” Alexander says now that his hands are avoiding Magnus' abused buttons.

And Magnus finds that he would sacrifice every single tailored waistcoat in his extensive wardrobe to get those hands back on him.

Instead Alexander reaches up to his braid and unhooks a small pendant.

It’s a bone carved with runes and it’s not newly carved. It’s several decades old and the magic it’s steeped in is Magnus’ magic. It literally projects a bloodthirsty aura but when Magnus holds it, all he can feel is the protective energy it pushes into him, a flip of fate lingering in the bone.

It takes a moment and then Magnus understands.

Magnus killed with magic, disposed of the bodies here with magic and Alexander accepted what he thought were courtship offerings before harvesting and devouring those kills.

Which means that Magnus accidentally started one of oldest and primal unseelie courtship rituals.

Specifically with the implied intentions of exclusivity, as well as presenting himself as the dominant suitor as a provider and caretaker for Alexander.

As the bigger predator.

As the greater threat.

And Alexander wants Magnus.

Wants everything that Magnus has accidentally asked for and he is actively irritated that Magnus has made him wait so long.

Under Night In Birth: Sys Celes (The Last Game I Will Set High Expectations For)

I need to get this off my chest because how French Bread rumored UNI2 as a "sequel" still bothers me to this day.

The reason why I bring this up and why I feel it's important to discuss is because a lot of people fall into this trap of setting high expectations for a game that causes your brain to run wild with imagination.

When UNI2 was rumored to be a sequel, I thought that this game was getting a complete makeover from the ground up. An anime opening, new sprites, English voice acting, a story mode that lets more characters interact with each other. I put too much faith in this game ever developing their characters further. So much so that I REALLY wanted Hyde and Gordeau to get SOMETHING. They don't even talk a single time throughout any of their games (Though Gord does talk to Linne and Seth...huh.)

Since I write in my free time. Sometimes I go into "What if" mode when I feel characters can be developed further or can have an interesting relationship if the creators ever decide to explore it. Since parents rarely exist in UNI2 (other than maybe one or two exceptions), I liked the idea of Hyde looking up to Gordeau like a father figure since they are very similar in personality. To be fair, I always had a love for the "spiritually adopted" plot when it came to any type of story (This is what I call it unless there is an official name for this plot out there.) Anime seems to use this plot more than most. Hell, I'm pretty sure One Piece is infamous for this, but other than the redemption arc or enemies to lovers plot, the spiritually adopted plot is one of my favorite stories if done well.

I think the only reason why I felt that relationship could work between Hyde and Gord was because of BBTAG. BBTAG's story mode is the only time they are allowed to talk to each other...EVER, and it's not even in their own game and that drives me BONKERS! Things like Gordeau calling Hyde kid before fighting Blake and Makoto only for Hyde to ask Gordeau if they can stay together... I hate reading into stuff like this because it ends up with me yelling at my TV screen "Expand on it, expand on it! God damn it you have a good idea here! AAAARRGH!"

I won't go too much more into my problems with UNI2, but one of my biggest grievances when it comes to writing in general is watching or playing as a character that either should have been the main character or had the potential to be expanded on so much more. Think Diamant from Engage or Jotaro from Stardust Crusaders (I haven't watched past that so if I'm wrong, please let me know.) Diamant, for example, gets so much strong writing and character development that I felt he should have been the main protagonist instead of Alear while Jotaro has the opposite effect where, as the main character, he gets very little development, but clearly has themes centered around his family and powers that could have been expanded upon, but aren't. Stuff like this drives me up a wall where I can see the potential to get a better story from a character than what we got...but it doesn't happen. That's why fanfics exist!...I just wish it was the real thing sometimes.

Anyway, sorry for my rambling here. I definitely don't expect a lot of people to read this all the way through, but it's here if you want to see it. Lesson about not setting high expectations for a game finally learned. I hope you guys have a lovely summer.

puppetification theory.. AAUUUGHHH!!!!! this one is so much fun for so many reasons.

he's got a BJD (ball jointed doll) body

He's kinda an asshole

While a good chunk of his glitching is from puppetification, way more of it is from malware he's collected over like 20 years on the streets of cyber city

He absolutely feels and is aware of his glitches but he's so used to them it doesnt really bother him anymore. scratch that, it 100% does bother him that his body is actively defying him. but what can you do? :shrug:

he's like 5'1. I HATE HATE HATE seeing him the size of a toddler both because you can literally see his world sprite is the same height as kris, which is a teenager (His proportions just are unbelievably fucked up because of puppetification) and because thats just kinda weird. Something about making him so so small feels weird to me but im not sure, really. take it with a grain of salt.

He was an Email Addison. You see it everywhere. He was like a mailman or something.

He wasnt like four foot or something throuhghout his whole life, but i do imagine he was only slightly smaller than an Addison, which doesnt sound that bad except when you realize everyone else is normal height except him. Maybe it was a manufacutring bug, or maybe it was intentional for his job.

Addisons are like weird organic robots kinda. Cause everything in cyber city is made of code i imagine they are like basically sentient AI.

They (addisons) physically do not age unless their code is damaged. (Guess who's code is fucked up) They were "born" physically and half-mentally adults, and count their age based on their manufacturing date. I say mentally half because it quickly develops soon after while they do things like advertise. Their personality develops a time after.

HE IS OLD!!!!!!! HE'S AN OLD GUY!! HES GOT LITTLE WRINKLES N SHIT!!! HES GOT A GREY STRIPE!!!!!! Not really because of physical aging but its more of like a glitch tbh lol. Like a chunk glitch in minecraft. Whatever happened as his code got progressively more beat up caused a patch of his hair to register incorrectly and show up slightly wrong.

His hair is natrually white. He dyed it in his big shot era ofc, but it faded out. He keeps it colored currently with car oil and shit. Whatever he can find that will color it. It will and does wash out partially when he's drenched in the rain.

He completely refuses to acknowledge his physical changes. Glimpses he sees he ignores or passes it off as he's seeing things.

He prayed to the Neo robot because he saw the beginning of puppetification. He was praying for forgiveness or another chance. He believed it was a divine punishment because he had no other explination. He doesnt believe he changed much more than the very very early stages, and he thinks he's forgiven in his delusion. Which is why he wants the robot so bad.

When he gets mad he turns kinda red and steam comes out the side of his head in short bursts, train whistle sound effects and all. looney tunes type junk.

He has lips... but they're stretched so far because of his huge fucking brick ass teeth that it doesnt really matter at that point.

He's got a scraggly ass mullet.

he has little bitty dot eyes. Every other addison does too but they keep them closed for visual appeal. Theyre robots and shit they dont really need them to get around, even though they help a lot.

My thoughts (and questions) on fragaria memories blue bouquet ep 1!

So the way this episode goes is something I didn’t really expect. I guess there is a trend of multiple characters who don’t appear much in the first episode due to being more mysterious? Then the others?

I hate how that includes my favorite characters of each bouquet😭😭 (merold and cielomort)

Either way it’s a really unsettling start and end to the radio honestly. Even though I’m scared i feel more intrigued and curious then anything

Kurode was my second favorite of this group and honestly he deserves it for how amazing he was in this radio🥹🥹 interview loved him sm more really loved learning more about him in this radio!

How do you think the dr2 characters cope with the big sad, what kind they are (good and bad), and who comes to help em out :)

(if you say hajime for assistance because he’s technically the ultimate therapist you’re gonna get your shoes stolen /lh/nsrs)

Hajime.

BUT not because hes the Ultimate therapist, rather because he is very adept at making people feel comfortable. Meta-wise, this is because he's the protagonist of a character-heavy game that encourages you to form a bond with at least one NPC, and most of the NPCs are jerks. Of course you want some encouragement or rewardl and your reward is the NPC opening up and trusting you, the player character.

But since we're not viewing the characters as NPCs in a game, in-world it comes out as Hajime getting even the most suspicious, awkward and stand-offish people to like him enough to overcome some of their issues, meaning he's just a comfortable dude.

So, besides Hajime;

Akane: ignores the big sad for as long as she can. Might have a little breakdown but still tries to get over it way before she's ready by distracting herself or pretending like a comfort worked 100% ("now that I've cried for half a minute I'm FINE haha see ya"). She would go to Kazuichi for distractions and someone who will probably do the crying for her. Slowly starts being open to Fuyuhiko's offer of talking things out, but only when she's already done being sad.

Sonia: Even if she is big sad in private, she has a hard time being real with it in front of others because she tends to pop into inspiration mode. She might pep talk herself (and others) several times without any real progress because she isnt letting it out. Eventually she'll yell and cry and then actually feel better afterwards. I think besides Hajime shed split pretty easily between Akane and Fuyuhiko, who are both awkward around big emotions but ultimately also very helpful.

Kazuichi: Feels big emotions all the time and sadness is a big part of it. He is very capable of feeling the things- its hiding them that's the problem- so he's used to it, but a linger melancholy cloud that doesnt go away even when he's done sobbing about it is a bigger problem. I think he would go to Sonia if he needed point-blank merciless advice (he is careful though, between not wanting to seem like he's pressuring her and not being able to take rejection when he's already so depressed) or Akane for comfort.

Fuyuhiko: it's kinda complicated because he was actually fairly good at dealing with grief in-game (once he was past the passive suicidal ideation) but that was in the middle of a murder game and. I think he would be the type to push it aside for as long as something bigger needs doing, but he suffers for it when there's nothing else to focus on. He feels better when he thinks he has some control so besides Hajime he goes to Souda, who a) has no room to judge and b) wont dare to snitch or get too mushy.

The ones most likely to intentionally seek out the sad people are probably Fuyuhiko (as with Akane post Nekomaru death) and Souda (again Akane & Nekomaru's death). Probably Sonia too? Just based on vibes (and she got Fuyuhiko a get-well-soon present).

Hajime definitely feels like the type to isolate when he actually feels the sad, but he's more likely to get frustrated or listless than outright sad (he also does not have a crying sprite in the game). I think who he goes to is really dependant on what he wants out of the interaction. With Akane, it's easy to forget anything is wrong, but she'll also be a big strong pillar to lean on. Souda is great with distractions and emotional validation (easily affected by other people's moods). Sonia cheers people up and doesnt let anyone get away with wallowing, and Fuyuhiko is a good conversationalist and has experience with actually handling grief (fun fact, all of Fuyuhiko's FTEs revolve around just talking, mayhaps because he has no hobbies besides crime but who knows) .

Kittsu felt glued to her spot in that moment, watching the man who had been nothing more than a suspicious, reoccurring character, sob by the fountain. She watched from afar as Achlys hid his face in his hands, Espeon by his side, clearly attempting to comfort its trainer. She wanted to approach, ask if he was okay but… was it really safe?

He has done nothing but help her so far, yet the phrase “wolf in sheep’s” clothing jumped to her mind for a fleeting second, something that would’ve caused Kittsu to turn tail and leave in any other situation. But he’s crying, something was wrong! The overcast day boasted sunbeams peeking through damp gray clouds, shining light upon various buildings like a natural spotlight.

Nobody would be stupid enough to hurt someone in such a public place, in the middle of the day no less? And she should have more faith in her ability to keep herself safe, anyway. She could take care of herself, and she knows her limits.

Kittsu cautiously approached the still sobbing man, trying to make herself seem more approachable than she felt. Achlys’ Espeon, oh what was its name, watched her approach with a blank expression, before sauntering forward to rub its head against her leg. She felt like she needed to sneak while approaching the man in front of her, though she didn’t try to stop the Espeon’s shattering of her attempt of stealth.

Achlys didn’t look up even when she stopped just a few feet in front of him, awkwardly thumbing the occupied Luxury ball in her pocket in case anything went south. She bit her lip as he continued to cry, still trying to find her words.

“…Excuse me?” The man suddenly went dead silent, shit, was that a bad move? “Are you okay..? Achlys?” She felt her nails dig into the hand still hidden in her pocket, before withdrawing both of them into a more friendly position. “I’m uh- I’m sorry if I’m bothering you-“

“No, no… hello.” Achlys raised his head to meet Kittsu’s nervous gaze, trying to wipe tears from his eyes still. “What brings you here, kid?”

Kittsu pauses for a second to breath, why was she so nervous? He’s just a poor guy having a rough day from what she sees right now, why does she still feel alarms going off in her head? “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay… do you need anything? Can I ask what’s wrong?” Achlys stares at her for a beat too long, the silence broken by nothing but mindless chatter of nearby Fletchling.

“It’s nothing… my coworker just told me about someone posting about me online. Happened a lot when I was a kid, bullied had a lot of fun with it.” Oh. Kittsu’s apprehension immediately drowned in pooling guilt at those words, stomach dropping straight to the floor by weights of shame. “It’s hard. That’s why I don’t go on social media, because I had a friend get doxxed from something similar. They had to move away, and I never saw them again.” Kittsu wanted to be sick.

“I-I’m sorry… is there- uh- anything I could do to help..?” She fought tears weighed by guilt pricking at her eyes, Arceus she was too high strung for this right now. “Well, I was going to go buy food for Day, but the store is going to close soon and I don’t want to go alone.”

Well Arceus, if that wasn’t suspicious Kittsu didn’t know what would be. But she’s clearly already caused so much pain- she’s wrecked Sprite’s family and Coral’s nerves, and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone else. Sun peeking through the clouds now fleeing for the horizon shine glowing lights that bounce brilliantly off of the fountain’s bubbling water. He’d be stupid to do anything in broad daylight. The Espeon, day rubs against her legs once more.

Kittsu holds out her hand, and notes how the weight of Ember’s pokeball sat in her pocket; ready.

more hlvrai x yume nikki au stuff!!!

this post is gonna have a lot more text than my usual posts. so sorry if you don't want that.

so people seemed to really like my idea (which is really unexpected !! i didn't expect it to gain any attention at all!!! but its also super awesome and im so glad they do!!) so ive been brainstorming a little bit.

heads up i know yume nikki is a very ambiguous game but im pretty new to it so if i happen to get any established information wrong please let me know !? ty !!

anyways. before we do the effects. please take some sprites.

(body horror ((multiple eyes, messed up limbs, gunshot sounds)) under the cut!!! pls stay safe !!! ) (also a huge lore dump. sorry!)

id think this au takes place in a universe where the resonance cascade was real (aka not a game or simulation) and it'd be like, maybe a few months after it. gordon is traumatized as hell and it haunts his subconscious to the point he feels the need to isolate himself completely. he relives his trauma through eerily consistent dream worlds and then dies on a random tuesday. credits roll. audience cheers. wonderful story.

the vision for the sprites is that tommy functions as a "friendly" npc (like monoko and the other girl i forget the name of please forgive me) and benrey functions as poniko, uboa being "xenrey" or essentially messed up alien benrey (the weird...white...blood....world...room...uboa takes you to when you interact with it is simply replaced by xen. that's it. benreys house is a direct gateway to that time gordon fought god and won and isn't that amazing.)

i might remake the "uboa" sprite in the future because i don't really like it right now. im very new to pixel art and imitating YMNK's style is a little hard.

i like to think this imaginary game would have the teensiest tiny bit of dialogue, only when interacting with benrey. when you interact with his "regular" form, he says "you're not supposed to be here." and repeats it every time you interact, not saying anything else.

i know one of the biggest things that makes yume nikki stand out is its lack of dialogue, but listen, i think it would work well!!! seeing as this is the only time a character actually talks to gordon through understandable dialogue (unless i come up with something else!! haha) i think it would be confusing and throw players off because it breaks the pattern of being either ignored or silently acknowledged. someone talking directly to you after hours of isolation is confusing and unpredictable. which is what benrey is. confusing as hell!

im not sure what function tommy would offer, if any, i kinda want him to maybe give gordon an effect (soda effect could work?)

i dont think he'd bring any jumpscares or intentionally unsettling things to the table. seeing as he was the only one by gordon's side when the rest of the team proved itself to be a threat, i think it's logical he'd remember tommy in a warmer light than the others- which is reflected in how instead of unsettling or ignoring gordom, dream tommy simply smiles and gives him the ability to drink a soda any time. soda effect.

does this soda effect make you see faster like tommy said?

as much as i'd love to, no. probably not. because i have no idea what the hell seeing faster means.

maybe you can get a caffeine overdose. if you spam 1 enough times you will get very fast for as long as the soda effect is on. like the bycicle effect, but better, because you can taste it!

but no, it won't help you see faster. i don't know how to translate that sentence into understandable english.

now, coomer and bubby!!!! i apologize very deeply for i have not made sprites for them yet. i promise i will!!! it's just very late today and if i draw anything else i will actually just pass out.

im not very sure what i want for them yet. i think theyd be similar to tommy, but they'd have different functions. maybe they all give gordon different effects. or maybe they scare him! i dunno, i feel like there'd be a certain level of distrust from gordon to the old guys, like, of course he doesn't hate them but itd be hard to remember them super kindly and harmlessly when one of them ruthlessly tried to murder you with 300 clones of himself and the other tricked you into an ambush that cost you your arm, as much as you love them.

also!!! i completely forgot gordon lost an arm when i made his sprite. oops. it's okay its just a very realistic prosthetic

anyways. this post is getting too long so i think I'll save the boomer talk for when i actually post their sprites. its time for EFFECTS !!

i haven't been able to come up with many words yet. but i have some effects and a slight idea of how gordon would earn them.

concept art is beautiful

from left to right (because my handwriting is absolutely hideous!)

SODA - earned by interacting with TOMMY. wherever tommy is??? i dunno! pressing 1 will make gordon drink the soda and earn a temporary speed boost.

CAR??? - part of me really wants to rename this one but it's so funny to me i want to keep it. it's just a car. he literally just whips out a car and starts driving. what a legend. this effect lets him get across water areas faster (even faster than the soda!)

LONG HAIR - literally just gives him long hair. there is no practical use for this. nothing will happen. it just gives him long hair. isnt he beautiful.

ARM - earned by interacting with a dismembered arm found... somewhere.... probably some dark room. you know that effect where madotsuki literally just becomes a head? yeah. this is that but it's an arm because of course it is. this is an opportunity and i will not give it up. there is no use for this either. it just makes him a slow sad lonely arm.

MINIGUN - found by interacting with a certain object in POTION !! WORLD !! YEAHHH!! DARNOLD REFERENCE !!! pressing 1 will let you shoot the hell out of your enemies and make them pay for their sins

SWEET VOICE - found by interacting with any of the orbs in COLOR WORLD. 1 will allow gordon to song a beautiful, colorful song that will soothe any npcs he might have angered and make them stop trying to murder him.

POWERLEGS - MAYBE given by coomer npc? idk! this is all brainstorming and a work in progress! 1 makes gordon jump real high, allowing him to reach otherwise unaccessible areas

GHOST - ghost. he's a ghost. he's transparent. he flies. 1 makes him do a little ooooo noise and all the npcs run away from him because the place is haunted. ghost.

GLASSES - literally just pick up some glasses from the floor. putting them on will uncover a few hidden details across the map that may be necessary for progress ... like a very small and specific set of stairs

SMALL - makes gordon very small. i thought the original effect was super fun so i just kept it unchanged. small gordon. he can clone himself and make a gordon army. small. im thinking he finds it thru a coomer clone that is abnormally small. he interacts. small effect. small!

SHORT HAIR - literally just short hair. gordon can't seem to pick a haircut!

UMBRELLA - ...umbrella. makes it rain. shelters gordon from the rain at the same time. can be used for the same purpose it has in yume nikki which is putting out fires or stopping pre-existing rain.

there's supposed to be more effects and i still need to plan all the worlds and hidden rooms but ........ maybe when the sun is out and i have slept and i can think better !!! let me know whatever suggestions or ideas you guys have. i love hearing them a lot ^_^ thank you if you read all of this!! i promise hlvrai animations are not over this is just an au that has temporarily taken over its okay my content is not changing to yume nikki hlvrai only

Look! It’s Wagan! From Wagan! What is Wagan (character)? Why, Wagan is a wonderful little green robotic dinosaur sort of guy who is good at making noises! What is Wagan (media)? Good question!

Here is a photo of Wagan in real life. Wagan is real! The original Wagan is an arcade machine by Namco, but I honestly cannot find much information at all about it. I don’t THINK it’s a game. More of an interactive toy? Here is a video! Hear his noises and watch his mouth flap about!

Wagan’s physical prison is labeled THE EMOTIONAL WEAPON, VOICE-CANNON “WAGAN”. I guess this is some kind of. Yelling game? The presence of a megaphone makes me think you yell at Wagan, and Wagan yells at you, and I don’t know the point, but it is really funny, and of course the actual physical Wagan robot is incredibly cute!

Luckily, Wagan would later enter a form of media I CAN comprehend! Scrimblo bimblo platformers! This is Wagan Land, which became Wagan’s Main Thing for a while, and hmm. I have things to say about this.

First is, WOW this game is cute! Look! When Wagan is falling in the air, his mouth flaps up, like Mario’s hat in Super Mario World! That’s so wonderful! And look at that SNAIL! The first enemy you see in the game, and what a great first impression! All the character sprites are delightfully compact. The thing that looks like a Wagan fetus is a Waganizer, which upgrades his Yelling ability, which is used to stun enemies so they can be jumped upon safely.

Very charmingly, Wagan’s yells are represented by the actual sound he says, shot out as a projectile! These have been lovingly translated in the fan translation, so you can make him yell WA, GYA, and GA. If you make him say GA twice, then just call him Lisa Simpson, because he’s Going Gaga!

The Waganizer was first a toy, and this sure looks like a gun huh! But it is a voice recorder and amplifier. I guess it is like having a bit of Wagan of your own, in Weapon form? To Blast your voice at others? I’m not sure why it had to look so incredibly like a gun, though!

Also, this post is about Wagan himself, but I HAVE to mention there is a Mola mola in this game! A pink sleepy one that flies above the water, and is the ONLY creature in the game that Wagan can safely touch by default, allowing him to ride on top of it! This game sounds so lovely, doesn’t it? It does! So it’s too bad it SUCKS and is TERRIBLE and I HATE it so much!!! And I don’t want to do any of that... but it forces me to!

The platforming sections are all fine and dandy. But the bosses, oh dearie me! Instead of battles, they play a minigame with you, and these are absolutely wretched! There is a word chain game and a memory game, neither of which are good, and both of which feel very easy to get locked out of winning due to randomness. And if you lose, you Die. It’s really not fun whatsoever to have to play a minigame you may very well not have any chance of winning, and they are so common that it sadly ruins the whole game... Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I don’t think it should be so hard to see what to do right! It feels like a game for babies that wants nobody to succeed.

However! I must give a MAJOR shout-out to AlanMidas of romhacking.net for making this English translation of the game, because translating this word chain game and all its intricacies must have been absolute hell! So thank you, AlanMidas! Or curse you? For being the reason I was able to play this at all? But mostly thank you. And I applaud your effort. I mean, they were able to make the pig icon work by referring to it as an “oinker”. I applaud an oinker any day.

Geez, I don’t want to be so negative on one of these posts. I do love Wagan (creature) a whole lot! Want to see him playing baseball?

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

I'm Gonna Win - Rob Cantor

First song I thought of, though I'm sure there are other more suitable songs I could come up with. But honestly, due to my illness I don't get to listen to music often. I'm sensitive to sound.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

There's been some really nice fanart, and I love the fake ad ones people make, and the pinups. I love buying merch from people.

Its also nice when people treat their plushes nicely, or actually see him as more than just the "funny salesman." Don't get me wrong, Spamton's is an awesome a salesman and all, but that's not all he is.

Oh, my fave part though, is how everyone celebrates his fan birthday. Thats super sweet. I love seeing people make fanart for that.

23. Favorite picture of this character?

Hm.. there's lot of great fanart of him, and you can see what I post already.

But I guess his shop sprite. It's fun to talk to him.

I do wonder what he would be like in person though.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

Haha... heh.... well, this will get long... (Sorry.)

Mostly just the fact that the fandom is made up of a LOT of hateful people, who hatepost about Spamton because he's "popular," or because their fans of Swatch/Queen/Addisons and are in denial about what those guys did to him so they try to pin it on Spamton by saying "he deserved it" or saying it never happened.

Which is REALLY ironic in a way. But wait, we got more!

Many people can't get past the "funny salesman" trope. They think the salesman pitch Spamton puts on is literally all he is, that he really is this guy who is silly, obsessed with money, and batshit crazy. Does no one know how entertainment works!? Has no one ever followed a YouTuber or Twitch streamer, or gone to the circus or seen a live show? That how people act in front of a camera, isnt how they act all the time!? Spamton doesn't actually care about money, he said it himself; he does all he does because he's an entertainer trying to survive! The Spamton Sweepstakes, the Fangamer ads, the Twitter replies... while they contain truths and genuine things about him, for much of it, he's playing everyone like fiddles! He's saying whatever the hell he can to make you buy his shit, because funny thing, its his job! And the things is, it WORKS. Everyone totally buys in to it! But while I'm sure he does find joy in what he does, it can also be kind of painful that everyone actually thinks that's all he is in a way... they infantilize him, they treat him like he's crazy/stupid, they stereotype him, they make fun of him, they talk about wanting to hurt him... and they think its okay, because "he's in on the joke." Yeah? You really think anyone would find joy in seeing you make art of them getting abused/hurt/killed? REALLY? Ever thought that maybe... its not actually okay....

I guess I feel bothered by it. Sure Spamton chooses to play up all the stereotypes about him so that people will buy his stuff, and its cool that he can still joke about things like that. But... I wish people saw more of the real him sometimes, and realized he deserves kindness and respect like anyone else.

But I think Spamton is a good example of how people go too far, how they'll greedily take everything from someone, even their dignity, if it means feeding their own happiness. How they can't separate entertainment from reality (... yeah yeah, some irony there as I'm talking about a fictional character...)

In a way, the Spamton fandom, often represents to me, much of the things I hate about the entertainment industry, hell even fandom. I'm glad people love him and buy his stuff, but I also wish they liked him for kinder reasons. I hope that if he continues to be in entertainment, he gets to make something he loves, that allows him to be who he wants to be. Because like many of us, he sometimes gets trapped in a role, determined by other people. And while some of it is true, like he is funny and has a dark sense of humor, and I'm sure he does enjoy many of the things he does... but some of it, I think is sort of forced on him. It's like if you don't act the way everyone wants, they'll get angry or abandon you. And that, thats awful.

(And Im not saying don't enjoy his salesman persona, just that, I wish people saw the rest of him too. Because he's a kind, caring and brave guy, and I really wish him the best ya know?)

And take her to the other's and one of the link's dices to be there father and the others her uncle's

Due to all of those times the group has gone up against Dink and Warrior has come so close to getting that lizard, he's the first one in the group to take this as a personal challenge. He feels the need to be a better parental figure. He figures the bar must be really low because he does not hold Dink in high regards but he still has to try his best. Look, he helped raise Sprite and was there for Wind and even if they don't remember he does and he makes sure to fill whatever role you need. From father figure, to uncle, to older brother he does a bit of everything until the others find their own way around how to interact with the very young new member to their team. The others aren't as used to raising kids so this is his chance to shine and shine he does.

He carries you around on your shoulders when walking so you don't get tired. He loves to pick you up and carry you around and cant say no to you when you ask. Warrior lets you hang from his arm and happily walks around camp with you- always careful to make sure you never walk near the outskirts just in case Dink tries to nab you when you're farther away. He's so worried that you might be taken away from them. Like on the road as a young hero is tough and you're no hero. You need someone to care for you and a giant killer lizard is hardly fit for care! He is careful to always keep one eye on you and the other on the environment.

Time is happy to watch you run around camp and he finds that it often reminds him of his home back by the Deku tree and he happily tells you stories and passes down wisdom he knows to you. Time is the stern older father figure. Making sure someone doesn't sneak you too much candy or them not letting you run around and get yourself hurt. He knows being reckless is part of being a kid but who knows when enemies will attack and worse, you were travelling with a monster. The knowledge that Dink has been raising you runs rampant in his head and he honestly thinks about adopting you or at least having you stay with Malon. That evil wretch is not fit to care for you. He isn't sure where he stands on starting a family but he knows that you'll be staying at his house the moment they are back in his Hyrule. Malon will enjoy having you there he's sure of it! Plus, you need a better influence in your life.

Wind is so excited to be able to show off his older sibling skills. He loves playing games with you and happily takes on the role of welcoming you into the group. Sure you're too young to stay but you're here now and he can't wait to show you all the cool games he's thought up. Since you're still pretty young the games have to be kept simple for you to be able to play but you're smart enough. He also helps teach you your letters and numbers because he enjoys feeling smart and showing others things. Having someone around that's younger than him really scratches an itch in his brain and he's soon off to write a letter to his sister.

Sky is quiet and regards you as a mixed bag. Maybe you know something about Dink’s plans? But you're too young and he doesn't feel comfortable about asking you such things. You're only a kid and can't be blamed for the action of your parents, however is he even your parent? Did he find you abandoned or steal you? This changes things. Either way he regards you as someone who needs his help and he can hardly ignore how fun it is having you around. The camp is lively and once you've settled down for the night he happily scoops you up and wraps you in his sail cloth. Sky holds you gently in his arms and rocks you so carefully until the two of you fall asleep. He agrees that Time’s place would be the safest and best bet but if he’s being honest dropping you off at Twilight’s home in Ordon, one of Wind’s islands, or even Skyloft doesn't sound like a bad idea. You're too young to stay here for long.

Anyone in the group can tell that they need to find you a home and it's all hands on deck the moment they find you. Someone has to be responsible and that winds up being all of them when you're around. They still goof around but they can hardly do anything too dangerous while you're around, for fear you might copy them. Except for Wild because he's never been around kids for a long period of time as far as he can remember. He's getting into all sorts of trouble but it's ok because you're not allowed to join him yet.
