I am so tired of the thing I love most in this world being shit on again and again. Animation has been a beacon of hope, inspiration, and a island of respite for me my entire life. Animators, storyboarders, the often very over looked over seas artists, and the many many many other people that work extremely hard to make and create animation don't deserve this.

For The Fun Of It

I never realized it until now. But I don't think Top Cat and his gang in Jellystone are as poor as they are outside of the show.

This is what their alley looks like.

A yard of nothing. (Unless they decorate it for some occasion.) The only real means of shelter available is a trash can.

But in Jellystone, they have a refrigerator, a fax machine(?), and a table.

Looking further into their somewhat cozy alley, we can see a couch, a chair, a little fort hut (complete with some pillows), a lamp, some decorative lights, and a mini table. You can even spot some crushed soda cans. Which means they have easy access to food.

The only thing both alleys share in common is the TV.

But T.C. was able to keep a television in one episode. He usually loses stuff like that at the end of it.

Top Cat and his gang are supposed to be homeless and poor. Scaming people out of their money is the only way they can hope to afford nice things in life and provide for themselves. But their Jellystone counterparts basically have it made for themselves. I mean, these guys still don't have a roof over their heads. But they still have enough things to keep them satisfied. (Top Cat even says, "It's the PERFECT place to live." They don't need a better home because they already have one.)

If that's not enough character breaking, someone told me Brain has a laptop, and both her and Choo-Choo have smartphones. Considering how expensive items like those are, it leads me to believe these incarnations of Top Cat and his gang are better off than the show wants us to believe. The only reason they scam people is so that they can either get more money to buy expensive stuff or to mess with others for the fun of it. And because Jellystone's law enforcement is basically useless, they can get away with whatever they want and keep whatever profits they obtain from others.

This is why I hate Jellystone. It may look fine on the surface. But once you analyze the characters in the show to their counterparts outside of it, you'll soon realize the heavy amount of character assassination present in it. And Top Cat and his gang are the perfect examples of that.

They used to be loveable characters who had unique personalities and issues that they had to deal with in life. They only scam people so they can have a proper home and a warm meal in their stomachs. But Jellystone has turned them into careless, lying pranksters who only scam people to add more money to their already significant fortune.

On his Twitter, Greg Eagles, voice of Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, said that he was back at (what is still remaining of) Cartoon Network Studios to do some "Grim" stuff. Did Cartoon Network change their mind on having a Billy & Mandy special? Is this voicework for MultiVersus? If a talent agency is accurate, it's neither one of those things, but it seems to be exciting news nonetheless!

The MJB Talent Agency has revealed just exactly what it was, a two-part Jellystone special! They even gave a description explaining why a Cartoon Network character is now among the Hanna Barbera characters in the show:

A rift in time and space sends unwanted characters from classic Cartoon Network shows into Jellystone.

This can be very interesting, much like the Crossover Nexus episode of OK K.O., but possibly even more topical considering the idea of "unwanted characters" and HBO Max's mass delisting of many beloved shows...including OK K.O., come to think of it! It may be a while before we hear more about this special, but stay tuned.
