omg he’s so gorgeous and like the thing about him—at least in my opinion/my own personal interpretation—is that while he is genuinely so sweet (almost sickly so at times!) and so kindhearted and so so tender, he is also so used to being served and so used to being the Boss, the undying’s precious phoenix prince, the king of everything, and it comes out in these tiny little wisps and hints in certain interactions; a vaguely bratty comment, a gentle yet vehement assertion, a soft chuckle beneath a gloved hand……..

all of this is to say, i think he’d fucking love to have a partner who lives to serve him and be his precious lil doll (to the point where he may even feel guilty about how much he loves it, because he knows it isn’t necessarily right, but he just can’t help but feel this way about you <3). he wouldn’t push it on you, and he wouldn’t hold you back from doing things you wanted to, either, if he deems them good or beneficial for you—he’d definitely encourage you to do things if they were things you wanted to do/made you happy—but oh, to have a baby who’s syrupy sweet and devotedly doting and hangs on his every word; to have a precious lil princess who gazes up at him as if he’s painted the entire night sky by hand, speckled the stars across the atmosphere and carved out the moon himself; to have a soft sweetheart who clings to him in every way possible, hands curled around his fingers or wrists or biceps when he takes you for a walk in the gardens or when you sit down for a meal (always beside him, never across from him, protocol be damned), who snuggles in his lap or straddles his thighs and nuzzles their sugar-sweet lips against his neck or collarbone or jaw, who obediently never leaves his side unless it is absolutely necessary <33333 that sounds like a perfect dream, a paradise, to him <3

If I had to guess, I’d say it was something to do with Shadar Logoth, "because that’s the bit that fits the least neatly with the rest of it. "Something about the ‘hate’ there being dangerous to both Dark and Light, and how it was originally meant to be used against the Dark One…it sounds not unlike saidin, in a way, though they’re not the same thing. Something that should be used against evil, turned evil itself…" Wow... you managed to come very close to predicting book 9 in book 2. Impressive

It's funny looking back on things like this because in context and hindsight it's the sort of thing that makes me look a lot cleverer than I actually am.

It's like a kind of confirmation bias, almost. I've watched friends or random internet people read/watch things I've already read, and been shocked at how close they seem to come to some major plot twists... but in reality, a lot of the time, they just look like they're close to figuring it all out because they're throwing puzzle pieces on the table and as an observer I know how the pieces fit together so when two happen to land close together (even when there are several irrelevant pieces thrown right alongside them) I see it as deliberate when really it's barely more than chance.

Which is to say, if you had sat me down after book 2 and asked me about this, I would probably have made it as far as 'tainted saidin, Mashadar, and Machin Shin have some similarities and that seems important somehow' and 'saidin will probably have to be cleansed at some point', but that's about it. I might have looked at those two statements and gone 'maybe these things all go together somehow?' but would have had no idea how (and I would have been wrong about Machin Shin).

((I did get closer in later books, at least in the sense of laying out most of the right pieces on the table: some combination of Saidin and Machin Shin and Mashadar and the Choedan Kal or Callandor, and Rand and Nynaeve or Egwene or Moiraine, and the Aelfinn's answers... but even there you can see that there are extraneous pieces that turned out not to factor in, and most of the connective tissue missing))

Because when you know what happens in book 9, a mention of some of the right pieces adjacent to each other looks like an accurate prediction, and it's easy to ignore all the random inaccurate nonsense piled in and around it as I toss out all kinds of possibilities.

Which is a long way of saying: this is something I've found really interesting about liveblogging as opposed to watching other people read / watch / liveblog other things, because it's kind of fascinating to see how other people react to it, and how some of these things look from the other side of the glass, so to speak. And it's fun to then see other people's liveblogs/livereads/livewhatevers of things and realise that sometimes you're watching them guess something without themselves having realised what it is they've guessed.

(Or to just retrospectively realise all the things you yourself came so close to figuring out without ever realising how close you were, and therefore you weren't actually that close at all, but that's part of what makes it so satisfying when it all clicks into place with that sense of 'oh, of course it was that!')

#insert some joke here about how monkeys on a keyboard will eventually produce shakespeare #and in 2m words of nonsense i'll produce some accurate predictions #but it's one of the things that makes me very excited to one day /re/read WoT #because I suspect the reread value will be excellent #due to all these things that /almost/ come together early on #where you have all the pieces of the puzzle laid out on the table but you can't yet see how they fit #that's always a fun kind of reread #asks #anon #wheel of time #regarding the liveblog
