I haven’t listened to the LotR update yet but I know it’s Weathertop today and I want to go through this readthrough with a conscious interest in this detail I noticed on my last: Aragorn spends too much time on top of Weathertop, looking out, and possibly compromises their position to the Ringwraiths. He freely admits that this was a mistake, later, but it’s the first example of an interesting habit of Aragorn’s throughout the first book: He’s waiting for Gandalf. He’s looking for an authority figure.

Aragorn, of course, is The authority figure right now; if nothing else he knows more about the wilds and the Ringwraiths than any of the hobbits. But he’s essentially looking for an adultier adult. Previously I had assumed he was just looking for allies, since in theory they’re safer with Gandalf than without them. But I promise you he’s going to keep on doing this, and in a way that indicates he is actually quite uncomfortable with being the final decision maker.

ok u know that fake 80s horror movie meme that people did on tiktok well aside from the blatant goncharov plagiarism i feel like the idea isnt inherently bad but trying to convince people the movie is real while giving it an obscure and therefore easily googleable name like zapotha is unwise. like goncharov was always openly fake but the video said they want to convince people zepotha is real. too easy to fact check imo.

The whole movie, I thought Coryo and Sejanus were about to kiss. Like, many times.

As an aside, it was chilling how he spent so much of the film verbally disagreeing or being implicitly annoyed at being called Sejanus' friend/best friend and then in the end he was calling him his best friend. When he was betraying him. I remember it in the books but it was more jarring actually hearing and seeing that on a screen.
