besides in the heights have you seen any musicals or theatre plays live? if yes, please tell us more about it!
no other musicals i'm afraid (but there is something truly magical about in the heights being the first musical i've ever seen live, i guess everything happens for a reason), i've seen a few plays tho, mostly as a kid so i don't remember that much (one of my favourites was a christmas carol but i also remember seeing crime and punishment back in high school and i loved it very much, although the only thing i can remember now is when one of the characters, sonya, was singing a song - i think my soul left my body when that happened).
there are so many musicals i wish i could see live, but i am kinda new to all of this (which is good! now's my time to explore this world and, oh god, i love it here). i seriously needed a lot of time to convince myself that being new doesn't mean i don't deserve it. if there's one thing i hate, it's definitely the fact that we are constantly making fun of people who are new fans of stuff, like for example old swifties think they deserve to see taylor more than new swifties and it's seriously annoying because does it really matter when you joined the fandom as long as you love her as much as all of us? i am not afraid to say i saw hamilton for the first time in june. damn, i wish i could see it in 2015 when everyone else did, but i didn't and does that mean i am not allowed to enjoy it now and i can't call myself a true fan? i had a moment of doubt but i don't really care anymore. i am a huge fan, i am dedicated and i deserve to see it live, also i probably will next year!
with that being said, some musicals i am dying to see live: hamilton (of course!), hadestown, natasha pierre and the great comet of 1812, six, heathers and probably a lot more lol.

I haven´t watched Beetlejuice myself, but a lot of theatre lovers love it. It´s not as deep as Hamilton or Hadestown, but very campy with great sets and good music. Also if you love legally blonde, have you watched mean girls the musical or heathers? I´d definitely recommend heathers because I love the music (the west end version)
I watched both mean girls and heathers, i cant remember which version tho.
Does anyone know if there is a bootleg with Renee Rapp as Regina George out there?

for my followers sake ive been trying to restrain the fact that i became just embarassingly fixated on the death note musical in the past week but i dont know how much longer i can hold it back so here’s a tiny doodle of Light from memory
stanky...............
#art#fanart#sketch#death note#light yagami#death note the musical#god okay but forreal......................its good#the reason i looked it up in the first place is like#my knitting club is full of huge musical fans#and like i love some showtunes and i love musicals in theory#but most just havent really grabbed me from a character or plot standpoint#i loved jekyll and hyde as a kid but i was also disappointed how the performance of confrontation was done on stage compared to the demo ver#i liked the music in hamilton as many 15 year olds did at the time and i still appreciate rap in a showtune as someone who loves rap#but you physically cannot get me to care about the plot when its an adaptation of the tstory of a founding father#i didnt spend my entire public school career learning about shitty old white canadian dudes just to learn about an american one#i still like some of the songs tho lol#anyway yeah i struggle a little to care about musical plots especially ones that are adaptations of newer media#like i like hairspray a lot i like the more ensemble feel of the non musical movie a lot more than the focus on tracy of the musical#but the songs are great and i think its a really cool change that instead of tracy winning at the end the kid does#but heathers.......heathers........is a very good musical and candy store is a fantastic song except i had a huge grudge against it ehrdfjkf#its good!!! im sure it is!!! outside of candy store none of the other songs really grab me but im sure its fantastic!!!#but alas....i hate how JD is portrayed dshjakshfdjs i really loved the original movie im sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy#anyway ive learned a lot about musicals from my knitting club and theres so many weird premises#like carrie (have not heard it yet) and spongebob (heard it and its good but i cant get over spongebob not sounding like tom kenny)#death note was another absurd musical in theory that they mentioned but none of them had heard it#and i went.....and listened to it....and then i listened to the japanese versions.... and then the korean versions...#and then i watched the 2015 kenji urai production and it was all over man.....it was all over for me#ITS SO GOOD you dont understand IT WORKS SO WELL i shouldve known it would work fantastic OF COURSE DEATH NOTE WORKS GREAT AS A MUSICAL#the show with the most dramatic utterance of the line 'ill take a potato chip and eat it' ive ever heard would work FANTASTIC on stage#the melodrama......the absurdity.....death note is the perfect musical

musicals as things me and my friends have said:
heathers: they’re gonna talk about my daddy issues and bisexuality. whoo.
falsettos: i don’t have the mental stability to deal with this right now
hamilton: who gave the child a rapid fire nerf gun
be more chill: let’s do crack and hold hands
newsies: believe in yourself. its trash can, not trash can’t
jagged little pill: your mother wounds me
the book of mormon: save me from the depths of this hell
beetlejuice: still emotionally but like better
dear evan hansen: great googly moogly it’s all gone to shit
the prom: nope straight as a circle
legally blonde: this is fucking serious as cereal
in the heights: thankful for my beautiful yet slightly dysfunctional family
something rotten: the mitochondria is not the power house of the cell, i am
charlie and the chocolate factory: he cute but i think hes a murder tho
mean girls: im the ass jack here
waitress: bold of you to assume i have the answers
percy jackson and the lightning thief: you might depend on me so we could all be in trouble
kinky boots: come join my cult-o-la-gays
rent: time for death by aids i guess
ok thats all for now!

Batfam musical headcanons
Dick:
instrument wise? Nothing, the man couldn’t tap out a tune on the piano if his life depended on it but boy that doesn’t stop him from trying
Sometimes the more musically inclined of the family will try to teach him a simple tune or beat to play in the background of a musical video they’re recording, but he’ll always forget the notes in 5 seconds and just improv when he feels it, it always sounds terrible but he’s having a blast
Can sing though. Oh man can he sing
Doesn’t mean he sings anything other than Disney Princess songs tho
If you were to ask me for a voice reference, I’d say Thomas Sanders
He has quite a wide vocal range but he’s better on higher notes
He sings quietly or under his breath most of the time, but then he’ll get to a line he’s confident on and he’ll belt it out at full volume
Sometimes a random line will ring out across the manor and it will 100% be Dick’s voice singing I Can Go The Distance from Hercules
Doesn’t remember half the lyrics
This still doesn’t stop him
Remember that scene at the start of Spiderverse where Miles is singing ‘Sunflower’, but only knows half the words, muttering the rest and getting REALLY into the parts he knows? Yeh that’s Dick
plays a KILLER kazoo solo
no he doesn't but it does annoy everyone in a 10 mile radius so there’s an major upside here
Jason:
This man has a breathtaking bass singing voice
He claims he has never and will never sing in front of anyone, but sometimes when he’s in a rare good mood, he’ll mess around with his siblings in the music room and end up singing sea shanties with Tim and Dick (and sometimes Duke if he’s not too shy)
This is Jason, Dick and Tim. Damian is recording
Sings exclusively Hamilton, but his real talent in singing isn’t in the rapping area he just loves that musical
Secret Theatre Nerd™
Famed for roping Tim and Duke into musicals; exclusively Dear Evan Hanson, Hamilton, Heathers and Les Misérables
One day Dick and Jason tease Duke out his shell enough to preform this with them
Would sing to himself in his safe houses and while ripping down the road on his motorcycle at top speeds
Not much of an instrument guy, but could tap out a piano tune or a drum beat if someone needed it
Keyword here being *could* bc he CAN but he WON’T
Even if someone managed to loop him into doing a backing beat for a tiktok or smthn he most definitely wouldn’t remember how to do it 30 minutes later
He claims his mind is too crammed with actually important information to remember a dumb piano tune for more than 10 minutes
Tim:
Can carry a tune, but prefers the instrumental side of music
He’s a tenor and sings higher than Dick, but Dick has a wider vocal range and if he wanted to, Dick could hit high notes Tim couldn’t dream of. Tim just doesn’t have the same range
But he’s fantastic at instruments
He plays a wide range due to his private lessons back at Drake Manor, including but not limited to: Piano, saxophone, drums, cello, clarinet, acoustic guitar, trombone and the triangle
Can Timothy Drake play incredibly difficult classical pieces on almost any instrument with ease and move the listeners to tears? Yes. Will he? No. Because the only tunes you will ever catch Timothy Drake playing is exclusively meme music
If it’s a sound on TikTok, this child can play it double time guaranteed
I’m talking the Mii theme, the Subway Surfers theme, Axel F, Wet Hands, you name it
K I lied he sometimes plays fantastic renditions of pop songs or movie scores
He also likes joining in on those “adding an *instrument* solo to a song that does not need an *instrument* solo” TikToks
This child makes quality TikToks
His acc has a great following bc has such a vast variety of content and its all peak. It ranges from music to music memes to family shenanigans to academic memes to whatever was in his mind that day
He has a sparse posting schedule but when he does post its always worth the wait
ANYWAYS back on track
Tim will 100% play saxophone on top volume outside Damian’s bedroom when the kid is annoying him
Sometimes Jason joins in but he plays his chosen instrument horrifically just to annoy Damian more
Jason and Tim do this
ok its time for my favourite boy
Damian:
Damian isn’t a singer. He refuses to ever sing in front of anyone, and he’s got the whole ‘boys’ tween voice’ thing going on too, and though he’ll probably have the capacity to be a great singer when he’s older, he won’t ever sing enough for many to find out
Instruments on the other hand,,,,
Damian does his little “*tt* I don’t care for the music, I play because it quickens reaction time and helps improve my memory and hand-eye coordination” and everyone’s just “sure Dami, thats why you were playing Merry-Go-Round of Life on repeat at 4am”
He likes orchestral and classical music, he’ll often play the song over the speakers in the music room and play along on his chosen instrument
He considers that genre more impressive for a musician instead of the pop rubbish Tim plays
He was taught violin by his mother back in Nanda Parbat, and it’s still his go-to favourite instrument, but he’s been teaching himself every other instrument in the music room
He uses music as a release, because he’s finally starting to get that violence isn’t always the acceptable release like it was back in the League and Dick and Bruce are so happy to see him start to understand this and get hobbies that aren’t related to work
When he gets older his taste in music expands to more electric guitar and drum heavy songs, but right now he’s still a bratty rich child and not an angsty teen
Jason is the one who introduced teen Damian to TØP, MCR, P!ATD and BMTH and now they jam together at excruciating volumes, screaming lyrics and wildly strumming on bass and electric guitar and banging on the drums and everyone would gladly slap Jason if not for the soundproof walls in the music room
Bruce:
Bruce used to be classically trained in a few instruments but he just didn’t care enough to continue them into his teen years so he just kinda forgot them
He regrets it now, seeing all his talented kids bonding over music and thinking that it probably would be been better for him to have a hobby when he was younger
On one rare night he has the manor to himself, so he sits down at one of his grand pianos and tries to remember one of the tunes he was taught. Alfred hears his woeful attempts and starts to teach him some easy tunes
They do this every time they have the manor to themselves
Bruce finally masters a song and he’s really pleased with himself Alfred is just so proud of his son,,,,

Hi its the same anon who asked about heathers could you recommend musicals? *the only ones I know are Heathers, Hamilton, Wicked*
prepare thyself for the infodump of the century
ok so my fav musical is heathers obvi but here's some others
hadestown
this musical is so <3 i love it very much. it's a retelling of the myth of orpheus and eurydice. it's so fucking deep and amazing i am in love with it go listen immediately. the more you think about this musical, the better it gets. the amazingness will probably not set in until about like 2-3 months after you listen to it. also you don't need context since the entire story is told in the songs so you can just pull up the soundtrack and the lyrics for every song. great listen, i think it's like 2 hours long so buckle up if you wanna listen to it in one go
dear evan hansen
such a great listen!!!! it's about this guy named evan hansen. idk how to explain the plot just go listen to it. this one has some absolute BANGERS. you will need context between songs tho, so i recommend getting a friend who's listened to it before or just looking up the context. about 1 hour to listen to the whole soundtrack, v good musical
beetlejuice
ahhhh i <3 beetlejuice sm!!! it's a musical adaptation of the movie beetlejuice. if you've seen the movie you don't need much context between songs i think, but if you haven't, then you need to look it up. about 1 hour for the soundtrack, great musical
six
<3 <3 <3 <3 love love love. it's a modern retelling of the lives of the wives of henry VIII. it's centered around like girl power and stuff and taking back the story it's really cool i love it /gen. it's like 40 minutes, super short. you don't need much context i think so you're good on your own (except for Haus of Holbein but it's not integral to the plot, it's just comic relief after the absolutely gut-wrenching performance of Heart Of Stone). bangers all around i love this one sm
go listen to all of these they are so <3

what's your opinion on the "tumblr musicals" (hamilton, be more chill, heathers, deh)?
i was obsessed with all of them at one time or another so i can appreciate the musicals themselves. there’s some specific fandom shit i disapprove of like the treatment of poc in the hamilton fandom, the infantilization of evan hansen and the excusing of his actions, the erasure and demonization of the female characters in bmc (and all of these shows), and how people ship kurt and ram even though they arent gay and are rapists. i’m grateful for hamilton tho cuz it was my gateway to shows like spring awakening and great comet. as for issues with the actual shows, there’s something with all of them, but as far as the way the tumblr fandoms are surrounding these shows, those are my feelings.

OKAY IMAGINE
IF ALL OUR FAVOURITE BROADWAY CHARACTERS ALL WENT TO ONE HIGHSCHOOL, like, broadway high, or maybe, the different broadway theatres are different schools and they’re all rivals, BUT IMAGINE THEY ALL GO TO 1,
(also this would probably be a school of arts since everyone is so, dramatic)
- THE CLASHES BETWEEN THE POPULAR GROUPS, okay we got the heathers and the plastics. imagine them fighting for springfling queen at the prom.  oH and thE JeTs. the group of popular boys snapping their fingers simultaneously, i wOuLd feEl, intimidatedI
- JOURNALISM CLUB, obviously run by the queen-of-sass Katherine Plumber. They’re incharge of the school newspaper, most meetings are chaos, especially with the Newsies, but they make a great pape! (did i mention they’re either gay, bi, or ace?)
- THE FASHIONABLE KILLER QUEENS,  yup, the six queens, all besties, and they’re exclusive (cuz they’re queens, duh) they’re a rlly diverse group but somehow they’re all friends (tho they have pre heated arguments), they also have a band. They all dated the same asshole (ugh he thinks he’s king) and are warding people away from him because he was shit. They’re v fashionable and are constantly arguing. If you need someone to take a really nice photo of you real quick, they know a Holbein. ( @comet-was-here )
- DEBATING CLUB,  Here comes the hamilton squaaddddd! they’d be popular? (to a t) but they definetly debate, they have some pretty heated arguments ngl.   sO uh, alex keeps cheating on his girlfriend, with this other girl but all of his friends r pretty sure hes gay
-POLITICS, That one group of kids who are actually really into politics and the kid in charge actually has won several debates against the other members of the debate club before he started his own club. (Les Miserables and Enjolras)     (@muchmoremiserables)
- DANCE TROUPE,  can’t forget the corny collins dance club! (ik they’re other musicals with a bit more dancing and based off dance but u get the point), so uH yeah, rlly competetive, but they dance, they dance GOOD
- THAT ONE KID EVERYONE THINKS IS A DEMON, he rlly is, but his quite the prankster, beetlejuice
- GIRL WHO RUNS THE CAFE, everyone likes her, cause her pies are delicious! (waitress)
- depressed kid, dear evan hansen, he likes jazz band
- COUPLE EVERYONE SHIPS,  Eurydice denies it, but orpheus and eurydice are certainly a thing
-THE JAZZ BAND, Some of the band students started their own jazz ensemble so they could play their own music (surprisingly better than what people were expecting). They start really lame and low-key hate one another, but then a pretty choir girl joins their ranks and they all start getting along and the school becomes interested in what they’re doing because everyone knows her. Then they become fairly popular (no where near the actual populars, but everyone knows them). oH! and the band leader and choir girl start dating because after months of mural pining and arguing because teNSion and at least two of the boys are gay ( @writingonthemoon
-THE KID THAT NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT, like, everyone’s seen him and said hi and know his name and stuff, but his age? Nah, man, and everyone swears he looks the same in every photo ever taken of him. Does he have any family? Maybe a brother, but who knows. Hasn’t he injured himself doing all those stunts? Probably, but not recently, so let’s watch him try and jump the 20 foot gap between the school buildings. ALSO, he’s friends with the adrenaline junkie freshie and her well-meaning and anxious boyfriend who just wants to read Hardy Boys. ( @writingonthemoon )
BASICALLY, this whole headcannon will be a insanely chaotic version of highschool musical / school of rock where people die, (NO ONE DIES) jk ppl die, ANYWAYS, feel free to share ur opinions and re blog wiht moree headcannonss~~

What are your favorite shows/characters outside of the Marvel franchises?
Avatar The Last Airbender!!!! My love for Zuko is almost as strong as the one for Loki but he doesn't have nearly enough merch and cosplaying him is hard because I WILL sweat the scar off (this happened twice) 😂😂😂 I love every single Atla character, they are my precious babies. Before I became Loki obsessed I was just as Zuko obsessed. I still am I'm just less vocal about it but I grew up on this series and I love it so so SO MUCH. One day I'll cosplay Azula, Toph, Suki and the cabbage merchant 😌👌
Merlin! Gosh I was such a fan I once did a school project on this. I would watch this with my family when it came out and every episode we would be CONVINCED this was the moment where Merlin revealed his magic (spoiler: it wasnt) 😂 Again, there's not nearly enough merch but dang does this show hold a special place in my heart. When I got really depressed all I did was rewatch Merlin and Avatar. My faves are Merlin and Morgana 👌
Shows I like a lot but don't feel as strongly about as the ones mentioned above:
She-ra and the princesses of power. It was so nice to have such an inclusive show and also they're all gorgeous! I got my redemption arc as well 👌👌👌 And double trouble is a MOOD. I still need to finish my Catra cosplay, but I already have She-ra and she makes me feel gorgeous like her. I love every character here as well but special mentions to Catra, Adora, Scorpia, Entrapta, Sea Hawk and Double Trouble
Phineas and Ferb. I just love how they put it all together with the jokes and the songs 👌
The Mandalorian. This series is just A++++ just a dad and his tiny green son doing cool shit throughout the galaxy with a bunch of badass friends.
The Good Place. I'm so sad this one ended. I LOVED every second of it.
Lucifer, Good Omens, Tangled the series, The Dragon Prince, Voltron (they did my boi Lotor dirty tho), currently watching My Hero Academia (I vibe with Bakugo, I too want to go feral), The Umbrella Academy (10/10 I love this series, Klaus Five and Allison are faves), The Legend of Korra, The Witcher (Jaskier is my fave)
I used to be absolutely obsessed with Winx and Yu-Gi-Oh as well (and they had merch so child me was a happy little gremlin, my faves were all the Winx and Riven and Yami Marik 😂 I already had a type back then)
I know you said shows but I'm gonna mention movies as well.
Pirates of the Carribean. I watched the first 3 movies so many times my mom sent me upstairs to watch it because she couldn't take it anymore 😂 Elizabeth and Jack are my faves
Star Wars. I know the movies aren't great but they have cool costumes, fancy weapons and redemptions arcs so I'm sold ok? Faves are Kylo Ren, Obi Wan, Leia and Anakin.
Harry Potter. I like the magic and the concept of it all (not all the problematic shit obv). My fave is, as you may have guessed by now, Draco Malfoy (I don't have a type you have a type)
Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. Gosh could rewatch these a thousand times and still not get bored. I love the story and the costumes so much. My fave is Thranduil but not in the same way the others are faves, here I just love all the characters and Thrandy happens to be extra shiny 😂
The Hunger Games. But mostly the books, even though I enjoyed the movies too. I should reread those books some time.
Disney movies, especially Princess and the Frog, Moana, Mulan and Tangled
Kung Fu Panda. What? Those movies are great!
Megamind. I don't need to explain this one.
And I'm a fan of the mobile game The Arcana, my fave being Julian. I'm also a fan of musicals like Beetlejuice, Mean Girls, Six, Hamilton (faves being Hamilton, Lafayette and Jefferson), Heathers and Wicked.
I probably still forgot some but eh 😂

I recently made a list of all the musicals I’m pretty familiar with and it came out to 63. and since my sisters won’t listen to my recommendations this is a masterpost of all those musicals with a few of my Thoughts and Opinions. this gets hella long so prepare yourself
-Les Miserables
ah, you never forget your first. I heard the symphonic recording when I was six? seven? so it has become the definitive version in my mind, but cast members (michael ball) are weak, and unfortch I haven’t come across a recording were all the cast members are top notch, though the 25th anniversary concert comes very close (norm lewis!! lea salonga!!)
-The Little Mermaid
ok so on the whole this show is not particularly great or interesting and honestly didn’t do very well on stage BUT hearing sherie rene scott sing poor unfortunate souls literally changed my life and is what really sparked my interest in musical theatre. also norm lewis is there
-The Band’s Visit
unlike any broadway musical you’ve heard fs. based on the movie of the same name, it’s about the egyptian police band being stranded in a middle-of-nowhere town in israel for in 1996. it’s a simple story but incredibly charming and ernest and surprsingly emotional. also the music is played onstage by the actors which is always cool!
-In the Heights
lin manuel miranda’s first musical and is honestly just as good as hamilton, if not better (I said what I said). it’s a slice of life kinda story about people living in washington heights. great music, great story, great characters, feels very real without being like....depressing.
-Aladdin
most of the songs from the movie stay mostly the same, I think they only changed arabian nights, and friend like me (which for the latter was a huuge improvement. I can’t NOT dance whenever I hear it. james monroe inglehart is a fantastic genie). and the flying carpet!! looks amazing!!
-Once on This Island
this story made me v mad initially (the female lead just. dies at the end), but I kept coming back to it because I loved the music, and it took me a while to figure out why and it’s because the caribbean island vibes are off the charts, and that reminds me of my childhood in sofl. and the vocals of the ensemble are amazing and the 2018 revival used a in the round stage with actual sand and live animals how cool is that
-She Loves Me
a super cute, super enjoyable, super fun musical based on the old film shop around the corner. zachery levi and laura benanti make some quality faces
-Next to Normal
oooof. a very intense show both in terms of theme and music. deals with bipolar depression, schizophrenia, drugs, suicide, hallucinations, death of a child....yeah. a very good show that handles all those heavy themes realistically
-Hamilton
so yeah when it first came out five years ago it was very hyped up and was called lin manuel’s “masterpiece” and when I listened to it I was like....dam they’re right. the lyrics and wording are so precise and having a story told by the protag’s enemy is so narratively juicey. plus the music is incredible (also listen to the hamilton mixtape if you haven’t it’s great)
-The Lion King
if you’ve followed me for any time you know I love the movie and the musical only makes it better. the songs, the music, the puppets, heather headley, the songs in zulu, the costumes...ugh perfection. the most successful disney show on broadway
-Aida
ever wonder what it’s like to be so darn good at singing that sir elton john writes a musical for you? well that’s what happened to heather headley and she completely deserved it. it’s a bit problematic in that the egyptian conquerors are all white and all the nubia slaves are black and like....they’re both in africa dude
-Anastasia
ok so I know it didn’t happen but the premise is so compelling and so gd tragic and christy altomare’s voice has such a fragility to it which is such a contrast to who anastasia actually was and the show features a song about russian refugees having to flee their homeland and it’s like the saddest song I’ve ever heard
-Anything Goes
honestly this musical on the whole isn’t that great for some...reasons, but it does have some great Friendship songs and Great tap dancing and sutton foster is in it and she is the epitome of a triple threat
-Cinderella
honestly just watch the brandy version because it’s the best version. better than the broadway version for sure, even though laura osnes is fantastic in everything she does and the show does have an amazing onstage costume change, but the brandy version has the coolest cast and costume and sets
-Ragtime
ho boy. so much to unpack here. while I think this is a “good” musical, it is too long, has too many characters and storylines, and deals with some heavy themes but doesn’t handle them very well so by the end it’s just exhausting and disappointing. BUT it does have the incomparable brian stokes mitchell and audra mcdonald, who is literally the best performer to ever grace broadway
-Thoroughly Modern Millie
there is so much spirit in this show it’s infectious. also sutton foster
-Dear Evan Hanson
sigh. so this musical gained a lot popularity among the Young People and...it..didn’t...deserve it? like again it deals with heavy issues like social anxiety, depression, and suicide, but like ragtime it doesn’t handle them very well; not in an honest way. and like everything they talk about is handled better in next to normal so
-Tuck Everlasting
based on the book, not the movie. the music is something really different and I don’t think broadway was ready to accept it so it didn’t run very long. and the adaption isn’t very strong, but the lead (sarah charles lewis) is very good and it does have a very sad song about miles losing his family
-Come From Away
so this is about the 38 planes that were diverted to a small town in newfoundland on 9/11. now with as much as america loves to talk about 9/11 I had never heard this story so it was cool to hear a different side of it. also it has a song that makes me tear up every time I hear it
-Annie
not much to say about this one. a classic
-Oklahoma!
speaking of classics, if you think this musical is boring and outdated, please listen to the 2019 revival. it rocks in every sense of the word
-West Side Story
this one is also a classic, and often called a masterpiece for good reason. the music is so strong and is integrated so well and it represents the characters on both sides. this video explains it really well. tho productions consistently have trouble finding puerto rican actors to play the puerto ricans....
-Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
this one deserved sooo much more than it got, coming out in the same year as dear shmevan shmhanson. the lighting and set design is incredible and the music reflects each character’s emotion so it feels really honest, and almost like a supporting character. it’s so good guys. it has josh groban in a fat suit
-The Phantom of the Opera
unpopular opinion (maybe): I think gerard butler was a really good phantom. probably andrew llyod webber’s best work
-Waitress
based on the film of the same name, also the first broadway show with an entirely female creative team. also what baking can do came after my entire life
-Hello Dolly!
I fell in love with the movie version with barbra streisand, but then I learned that the original broadway production had a all black cast which is awesome but wasn’t reflected at all in the movie and that’s disappointing. great show tho
-Wicked
I can distinctly remember the first time I heard the ending crescendo of defying gravity. and the fact that it has so quickly become classic staple of broadway is a testiment to how strong it is
-You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown
yes there is a broadway show of charlie brown. the songs are funny and childlike and honest, and very ernest. also kristin chenoweth is hilarious as sally brown (she won a tony for it!)
-Chess
I love the music in the show, and some songs have very complex lyrics but the main character is kinda annoying. like yeah dude deserting your country with another woman and leaving your wife and kids behind is gonna have negative consequences. don’t know what to tell you
-Finding Neverland
not as good as the movie it’s based on. while some of the music is very pretty, the songs are pretty simple and kinda boring
-Venice
ok this show also isn’t very good, the character’s motivations are not clear, especially the villain, and the female lead’s songs are weak. but the premise and some of the songs are arresting, and I kept coming back to them
-The King and I
like wws, it took a very long time for a production to cast this show accurately, and it still hasn’t....quite done it. but the songs are very beautiful. r&h strike again.
-Matilda
features a bunch of v talented children and manages to be lighthearted but also really gets you. just listen to when I grow up
-Little Women
on the whole, not a great adaption. some good songs. sutton foster is great
-Bonnie and Clyde
oh boy you want some bad guy songs? how bout a whole musical of them? oh no the public hated us and we closed after 36 performances. ah well. at least laura osnes got her first tony nod
-Beetlejuice
very catchy show with a killer aesthetic. give alex brightman a tony just for being Like That
-Hadestown
this show has such nice lyrical rhythm, even in the spoken words, and it is so smartly composed and balanced. and even tho the broadway cast recording is out, it’s worth it to listen to the earlier album as well
-Catch Me If You Can
based on the film. just two hours of aaron tveit being a little brat and norbert leo butz flexing on everyone else’s vocal chords
-Miss Saigon
an extremely problematic and infuriating show that is unfortunately very beautiful. introduced lea salonga to the world, so that’s good at least
-The Hunchback of Notre Dame
speaking of problematic but beautiful shows. exceeds the movie in my opinion. the choral vocals just cut right through you
-The Fiddler on the Roof
I listened to the 2016 revival after not listening to this show for years and you know what? it’s really good! like heck!
-Mean Girls
yes they made a musical of mean girls. yes it’s pretty great. regina has a killer song near the end that I love to belt out
-Bandstand
one of the only musicals to make me cry actual tears just from listening to one (1) song. it’s about WWII veterans coming together to form a band just months after the war ends. also laura osnes fricking kills it in the last number
-Into the Woods
I’m not a huge fan of “fairy tales but make it realistic and therefore disappointing” but stephen sondheim is a very good writer and musician so it’s worth checking out. and the witch is played by bernadette peters in the musical and meryl streep in the movie so it’s a win both ways
-How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
what it says on the can. a very fun, ‘don’t take this too seriously’ show. the lead was played by daniel radcliffe and nick jonas at one point so like. come on
-The Last Five Years
honestly this is a very depressing show, but it’s told in a interesting way. it’s about a couple who meet, fall in love, get married, drift apart, and ultimately get divorced, but not in that order
-Newsies
ok so the broadway version is very different from the movie, but it’s still worth checking out! the new verse at the beginning of seize the day makes it worth it!
-Legally Blonde
yes they made a musical of legally blonde. yes it’s great
-Daddy Long Legs
a little known musical about a young woman who is aging out of an orphanage and finds out she is being sent to school by a mysterious benefactor. meghan mcginnis has super sweet voice
-My Fair Lady
another problematic show about a british asshole who takes it upon himself to turn a flower girl into a “proper lady” (no one asked you to do that dude). but it is funny
-South Pacific
ok so I’m not actually super familiar with this show but it does have a very important song called you’ve got to be carefully taught about how racism is not “something you’re just born” so stop making excuses nellie
-Once
again I’m not super knowledgeable about this show, I’ve listened to it a few times, and read the wiki summary but I still don’t quite know what it’s about. but the music is really good, really different from a traditional broadway show. very enticing and sentimental
-Beauty and the Beast
I think this was the first disney movie that made it to broadway? I could be wrong. like hunchback, I think it exceeds the movie, esp if I can’t love her??? shoutout to my sister’s friend for blowing my socks off with that song in 2005
-Six
not a full blown production, just a rock show about the six wives of henry viii. I thought it would be like riding off the hamilton craze of “history but make it cool” but it actually kicks ass all by itself
-The Sound of Music
another classic, and edelweiss makes me emotional
-Billy Elliot
ahh this show has so much tangible emotion in it and it’s heavy but children are it and they carry it so well and the juxtaposition of the protests an d the dancing UGH
-The Lightning Thief
yes the percy jackson musical! is good and enjoyable! doesn’t take itself seriously at all (as it shouldn’t) and the last two songs go so hard!
-The Music Man
this is imprinted into my brain because of my sister’s drama group and from that day on I have never known peace
-The Scarlet Pimpernel
based on the film of the same name, it’s really good, the opening number goes really hard, and it SHOULD be revived with laura osnes
-Oliver!
this show is....good..but it’s just too long. too many extra songs that don’t do anything
-Sussical
beautifully whimsical and heartfelt. features an array of suess characters and stories
-Moulin Rouge!
the cast album that came late year and it kicks ass. it keeps some of the songs that were featured in the movie, and brings in songs that have come out since the movie like shut up and dance, royals, and bad romance
-The Greatest Showman
so technically this isn’t a broadway show, but it’s going to be, and I think it will be much better as a stage show than a movie.

Soulmate(?) AU where the person doesn't have likes or dislikes until they meet their soulmate:
Prinxiety
When Roman met Virgil they used to fight but sooner they got along
Virge ran down the hall about to explain to Roman why he skipped their "hangout", they always called it, he explained that his mom dragged him out to watch some stupid musical. I think its name was Hamilton, Roman said it was fine but he was more interested in the musical part and when he got home he searched it and immediately fell in love with Hamilton then bmc(my fav) then Heathers then more
After Roman joined the drama club he hasn't had alot of time for him and Virgil to hang out. He always make excuses and he's getting sick of it
So when he spotted the poster in the main hall about them needing a costume designer. He was all in.
(Fashion designer!virgil:3)
(you wouldn't think I'd pass up think opportunity would you)
Dukeceit
When Dee first met Remus the first he noticed is his love for sweets. After that he tried making sweets and actually enjoyed it. So he made more
(hoping one day he might give some to Remus)
(its an experiment, ok?! he just wants to know remus' opinion of his sweets and maybe of him)
The first time ree met Dee tho is in the library
Dee was just reading a book while ree just sat at the same table a seat away from him, frequently glancing at him
Dee suddenly felt around his pocket and took out a piece of candy. He didn't want it he looked around and saw remus
He smiled and gave the candy to Remus and took off. When Remus ate it he got addicted it was like heaven he wanted more
Logicality
Patton is great at poetry writing just as much as Logan is great at science
Doesn't mean they enjoyed it though at least not before they met each other
Patton was sitting next to Logan during lunch, doing his homework about a book their teacher asked them to read
He was struggling in a particular passage and luckily Logan offered to help
During their work Logan mentioned that he appreciates poetry, especially something deep and lovely
Patton then thought maybe writing poems be so bad, he should start with something Logan might appreciate, maybe a love poem
Logan and Patton were just walking together down the hall talking about almost nothing. Patton picked up the subject of his brother, telling him about his brother and how he became a scientist and all his amazing works
Patton loves talking about his brother maybe one day Patton could do the same about him
Bonus: Remile
Before meeting remy, Roman told Emile that he needs to get some coffee. He needs it as a sacrificial lamb to the sassy restless guy he was about to meet
"Restless" he thought he was joking but when he finally met him, he looks horrible. He wanted to help him but he doesn't know how, his guilt clearly shows in his face causing Roman to say he was fine. He takes pills and he goes to therapy now and then
Still he wanted to help him, he wanted to be like that therapist he goes to. Helping him improve and helping him be happy again. He was relieved when he saw him smile for the first time, such a beautiful smile it was
The same goes for remy, he was just waiting for the coffee roman was getting. When he arrived, he also spotted a petite guy next to him, face pale looking like he was freezing and tears threatening to fall.
Roman spoke up and said he was fine. The small guy must be worried about him, funny bc nobody really did that for him. Ever. at least not to the extent they would cry. He should at least let this guy calm down so he smiled. That seemed to have worked
