A good exercise for you fretted string players when you’re learning a song, play the melody on only one string while repeating the names of the notes out loud. Not just the fret numbers, but the note names themselves either with letter names (I.e. C#, D, E) or using solfège (di, ré, mi)
Do it on all of the strings your instrument has. It’s okay if you need to adjust the melody line to fit slightly if it exceeds the upper or lower range of the string, just make sure it sounds good. Make sure you take note of what strings the melody fits best on in that key
This helps you develop familiarity with the fretboard as well as laying out the melody in a more logical way, allowing you to see where the tonal centers are on each string in that key.
Once you’re able to do that try doing it on only two strings. Experiment with where in the melody and on the fretboard it’s convenient/comfortable to switch strings. Limiting yourself like this forces you to develop an awareness of the ways you like to finger certain sequences of notes.
If you do this for every song you learn in every key, you’ll be well on your way to being able to play anything you want anywhere on the fretboard in any key.

Metal guitar songwriting tips (when you've run out of ideas)
Learn how to play a riff or lick that you love. Then, tweak the hell out of that thing. Change a chord, change the sequence of notes, use a different picking technique, add or remove notes, just continue making changes until it sounds distinctly different.
Listen to an existing guitar part and then try to come up with something that has vaguely the same kind of sound/feel. Don't try to figure out the exact notes of the original guitar part, just go with the flow and if your idea kinda resembles that, you're good.
Experiment with a drum track to come up with riff ideas that suit the drums.
Take a couple of bars (for example 4) that make up a riff and experiment with changing around the order - example: playing bar 3 first, then 1, then 4. Tweak accordingly.
If you want to come up with something potentially much more wacky (tech death ninjas unite), write down a couple of intervals and/or chords you really like. Assign numbers to them i.e. 1-6. Plug into a random number generator to determine the order in which to play them.
These are my favourite methods for coming up with song ideas, especially number 1 & 2.
What are yours?

Do u have any tips on the guitar,I love how u play it’s really beautiful:)
thank you so much ☆〜(ゝ。∂)
i think the most important tip i can give is to think about the “horizontal-ness” of a piece rather than it’s “vertical-ness”.
what i mean by this is that more attention should be paid to counterpoint - the ecosystem of different melodies living inside the piece - rather than the harmony, which is a singular moment, an out of context frame, (a chord):
imagine having a videoclip with different characters in it, moving and doing different things. analyzing harmony is picking a frame of the videoclip and paying attention to how the characters interact with each other. analyzing counterpoint is picking a character and watching how they move and what they do throughout the duration of the whole clip.
this will likely encourage you to play finger-style, rather than the chord strumming way of playing guitar... it’s all in the way you perceive it!

How does my pedalboard look?
Tumblr media
I got some new pedals for christmas and I really like the way my tone sounds now!!! The drive that I put at the beginning of my chain really helps me get the tone I want for metal that I wasn't getting with just the rat. However I kept the rat in my chain because it adds the distortion that I need for my tone that I can't get from the drive alone. Overall I've found that they're a pretty good combo and they sound awesome together.
Also I know that all of those cords look chaotic and jumbled up together but they're organized trust me XD

there’s one thing about my body that I hate with a passion, and that’s my crooked-ass pinkies. THEY MAKE PLAYING GUITAR SO HARD!! I’m trying to do four-finger chords and my pinky keeps locking up or collapsing, and I’m pretty sure it’s from the crookedness. They tend to kinda lock up and pop when I’m bending them if that makes sense?? Like I can feel a tug and it is so uncomfortable
