Looking at guitar sheet music makes me feel ill

#do i have to? i don’t think i do #but it would make my life so much easier and give me some kind of understanding of music theory #the one time numbers make more sense to me (tabs) and it’s the rookie beginner thing to do…sigh #it really is like learning an entirely new language for words you already know #some tabs are written almost entirely in musical notation just using numbers instead of notes #and i understand many of these other things but the scale. the notes. i just can’t i fucking cannot #i feel like reading sheet music for guitar is harder than some other instruments because there’s like #fifteen thousand different ways on the fretboard to play every note and chord
