i still cannot believe orv exists like. yes all my friends were nuts about it and they've been right about other stuff i liked before but every time it really is like. surely it can't be that good. and then i read orv and it IS that good. it's life-altering.

YES i am the target audience YES i'm literally a professional writer who has ALSO defined my life by the stories i read and love. i was raised by books i was raised by silly little roleplays on the internet with my favorite little guys. my favorite story-heavy franchise is one i've literally been obsessed with for the last 15 years. i dreamed through them.

my god if you are a person who loves stories about stories you have to read orv. if you're a person who has lived and breathed your blorbos you have to read orv. if you have ever felt like a worthless teen and/or adult and drowned your sorrows in a good or even cringe ass story you have to read orv. at least try and see if it speaks to you

i am not kidding in that this is the first story that has grabbed me through the pages and made me wholly believe a book character is just straight up real. kim dokja is not just a fictional guy to me he is real. and he lives in my heart.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

I'm generally pretty adamant on finishing stuff, so even if they've been untouched for years and maybe there's no hope, I usually Want to go back to them... they're just not the Priority.... they'd get finished in a world where I didn't have to chase money and there were 48 hours in a day...

The main stuff I've Definitely Got No Intention Nor Interest of going back to are my unfinished overwatch fics, just because I really don't plan on going back to that fandom.

The rest here, I still want to finish them in Some way, though these are harder or have more investment put in already than most other wips.

rip this wip... though I obviously want to completely swap out the overwatch characters and flight rising tundras to make it into a piece for my original dragon GN.

the rare abandoned OC art xP I really like the colors and render style but this needs a total redraw I think...

let's not talk about my first graphic novel project shall we (it's technically in a releasable state! I made it for my thesis! It's a complete, coherent story—but it's also the sacrificial lamb for my future graphic novels in that I learned SO MUCH from making it that I no longer think it measures up to my current level, and now have NO TIME to make the significant edits and additions to it that I feel will make it truly a satisfying work...)

back to aai2. case 2. here's the specialest character. you toss around a few possibilities in your head. maybe seb's nonbinary? what if she's a transfem egg? those half-ideas just chill in the back of ur mind during ur replay. then you get to case 4/5 and they hit you with this

after the agony overwhelms you for a while, you accept ur new headcanon. 10/10 made the game even more emotionally taxing thinking about timeskip seb looking back at this time of their life Knowing What They Know about themself now. but also it enhanced the Themes.

WAHOO. Thank you. I take a lot of pride in my Seb bc I try to be veeery careful with reading into canon and what we can gleam bc it's hard to figure out a timeskip personality when the last we see of them is the Big Character Changing moment. THAT SAID these are mostly my more indulgent additions :]

i know "de beste" is dutch and debeste/debest surnames apparently occur the most in france. maybe distantly they are those. but sebastian has always been Italian to me. I cannot explain why it's just a gut feeling. And Japanese too of course though she's white-passing.

she's also a distant herlock sholmes relative on her mom's side. duh.

anyway like i said she's non-binary transfem. i takes a little while for her to realize (~5 years into 7yg) bc she was actually pretty cool with being a guy for the longest time. but being a girl just made her a lot happier.

also. all her friends are weird girls.

her fashion taste actually doesn't change much lmao she's still a suit and pants and tacky button-ups lady, except at formal events, where skirts and gowns Obviously are so much more fun.

seb came out to john first bc justine felt too scary even if she's so important to seb's life, then the roommate kay. then fran, who immediately gave her her earrings as a gift <3

full name after transition is like sebastian stella beatrice debeste because more names are better. obviously. they saw the opportunity to name themself and threw in an extra one for the heck of it even if they never use beatrice.

she still likes being called seb/sebastian! just not all the time. but at work she's mostly just prosecutor debeste. close friends, usually seb or stell.

before saving up for a car (justine taught her how to drive. terrible.) she actually mainly used a motorcycle! despite the baggage.

actually had casual knowledge of bike maintenance due to blaise making them fetch tools for him when they were a kid and they just had to stand there and watch how pops did stuff between his orders.

she reclaims the motorcycle hobby for herself by customizing her bike like. really cute. it's like smooth steely blue with shooting stars on it. fran helped paint it <3

her office is really cozy and she's always got music playing on a record player. Got a neat collection in there and a wide taste in music.

counting time signatures and twirling the baton to the beat is their favorite stim. They do it a lot when processing tough cases.

in general, yeah, music is a very useful tool for her. she has a really bad memory, but often assigns musical mnemonics to important phrases and names to help recall them much more easily.

related, but she has a melody for most of the prosecutor's office's coffee orders, from her early days as an assistant.

she can't read sheet music, at least, not quickly enough to play smoothly.

but if you ask her to listen to something and then to recreate it on the piano

she'll be able to do it from memory. and even re-arrange it on the fly and add new layers and completely change the style and time signature of the music if so requested.

she assumes this is normal and not a superpower. she did not get formal training for this.

I respect it and intellectual attraction is iconic and I still rb art of them sometimes if it looks nice. But overall I've just never really been into it...

Mia and Lana are both well, kinda long-haired brunettes who are older sisters, Mia is a lot funnier but they both still fill that more serious role and, honestly, they're both just too similar to me + I'm not really into Lana as a character enough for the ship to compel me. I like it when characters have a lot in common to bond over but crucially they need some ridiculous contrast elsewhere to make up for it, otherwise it's kind of nothing for me. Having similar-ish designs on top of personality/story roles is just the nail in the coffin tbh.

Like I love Mia a lot let's be real, but she had the entire trilogy to be fleshed out. Lana is... AA has done this suffering-in-silence and stoic or closed off for the sake of others archetype a couple times. I generally don't like it, especially when it's done on a non-pov character. I've tried, I've gone through RFTA a few times... I love Ema so much, but Lana just never clicked... I'm sorry women...

ok not a yumimei ask this time but I’m curious to know what you think seb’s childhood was/how blaise treated her

whew. (TW for discussions/depictions of abuse [seriously tread carefully here...] brief mention of death/suicide in AA cases.)

tl:dr: Always walking around eggshells around Blaise. Awful mindgames. Might promote my fic chapter real quick actually since that delves into that a little... And I might talk about some of these more in a later chapter. But yeah...

I'd say she has some faint, nice memories of her mom, but she vanished when Seb was maybe 5-6. I think she was musically minded, though not financially powerful, maybe a teacher. Some of Seb's most vivid early memories are of sitting beside her, watching her play on their nice acoustic piano.

But after that, it was just her and Blaise.

Most of Seb's keepsakes of her mother disappeared except for that piano, only because it was too nice a statement piece to destroy. Though Seb only played it whenever he wasn't listening. (Thankfully, she acquired it after Blaise's incarceration, so she gets to play with her new family now.)

Straight off the bat I'm gonna say: I've seen a lot of people HC Blaise as having been physically abusive to Seb, burn scars, etc, in addition to the canon verbal abuse. Totally understandable, given the horrifying implications of this bit.

Which is to say that I don't see him """actually""" laying a finger on her even once. A big part of it is probably because it feels too heavy for the tone of AA, just for me personally... which is a WILD thing to think about considering the many murders and suicides and "matricide" AA DOES depict!!!

But they've always skirted around that kind of behind-closed-doors physical domestic violence (i'll be using this term in the familial/household sense rather than partner violence) as a serious theme in the games (as slapstick... not so much, unfortunately...)

Relatives do attempt to harm each other, again, see the "matricides" in the series and general Fey family drama... I don't know if this makes sense, but it's just less intimate and easier for the general viewer to stomach when these happen as part of grand schemes with robots and channeling thrown in the mix.

Seb flinching when they see Blaise approach and him taunting them when they do does Not hit that way. Seb willingly putting out the possibility that Blaise "wanted to kill her for being a nuisance" in her Logic Chess does not hit that way.

When I HC for stuff, I tend to find myself trying to match the tone of the original since I'm a boring stickler for canon. But I can't ignore how haunting that scene is, so this is the compromise I've found for myself. It's still really heavy, though.

Yeah, Blaise never ""actually"" laid a hand on her. But Seb was always, always keenly aware he could and was terrified for it. She's still terribly traumatized for it, and a big part of it is the second-guessing and guilt over how it "wasn't actually that bad."

One aspect of Blaise's deplorable character I find interesting and very characteristic of him is how he constantly dresses it up in being jokey and playful and, basically, layers of plausible deniability. It's a fucking mindgame minefield and I feel so bad for Seb.

Alongside the terrible verbal abuse and controlling her finances/life path/etc, one thing I could see him subject her to a lot is, yes, making a show of destroying stuff. Wrecking her stuff as punishment, or destruction for the sake of showing his own strength and, again, capability to hurt. I could see Blaise in a temper going on the warpath with Seb as a witness, and doing his shit apology later asking her to understand that his emotions just got the better of him, while Seb just nervously looks over to a chair he's reduced to splinters.

So that's really the undercurrent of their entire relationship: Insults and abuse dressed up as affection and jokes, constant uncertainty and tiptoeing on Seb's part because surely her pops really isn't that bad, he's provided for her all her life, she must understand how hard it is that he's a single father, it's not as if he's actually hurting her. He's scary when he's on a temper but at least it's not them. He's just got a peculiar personality, he's imperfect, but he's their pops. All the while wearing them down mentally so that they'd do anything for his favor, anything so he wouldn't actually cross the line, cling to a false sense of pride for stability. Always, always making excuses for him, to the very end. She eventually comes to terms with how awful it all is, through the 7yg.

(Re: Seb being trans... I don't think she'd describe her journey with the like "trapped-in-a-boy's-body but i was always a girl" narrative, more the "I was a boy for a long while and now I'm a woman" path of transness. She did hold back on some impulses though, wanting to experiment w/ presentation as a teen, because she knew that would Not go over well with Blaise. )

Anyway in the AAI3/AA7 I imagine in my brain the very first victim is Blaise Debeste. world is abundant, goodnight <33

Almost always have video essays or lets plays on for background noise!

Currently I have lucahjin's 999 playthrough on because I made the mistake of not having Novel Mode on, and I wanted to revisit the routes I've done before I continue with the true ending. lol

I have a lot of auditory stimulation needs/issues so when I get sick of listening to LPs I usually play music by Anjimile, Sufjan Stevens. Or OSTs (PLvsAA and EEAAO especially) and my personal library of just random tracks from various artists.

12. Easiest part of body to draw

lol uh. breasts+belly/ back+butt if i'm being honest LMAO. And dragon faces! I like drawing them way more than people to be honest xP

AUGH Character-wise and overall, Calisto. I think she's really got it all going with the personality and the gorgeous design and really all the intersections of characters who've had the pleasure of running into her. The character destined to betray. But I think the way she talks to Lang at the very very end betrays JUST a bit of potential fondness for her marks which makes it all a little juicier. I think her potential relationship w/ the Yatagarasu trio, destined to end in heartache, and then of course her as Kay's nemesis is so. augh.

while not a killer, honorable mention to aura blackquill. partly yes bc she's a little sexy but I also mourn the potential for her agony over simon and metis to have been explored a little deeper. I think about her sooo much.

I don't think their Actual crimes are as fun bc i like really wack situations only my funny lawyergame can deliver. Ok Robot uprising and hostage Is kinda nuts but simultaneously too much for AA and also not Enough bc Trucy and Phoenix aren't horrified enough about it.

my fave murder Plans/Situations are. of course you cannot beat Kristoph's 7-year late nail polish but the Mastermind also crushed the president with a fucking balloon. which rules.

it's no problem i love spreading the agenda. it has grown so much since i first spent like a year keeping it to myself and amassing doodles on private accounts.

anyways yes absolutely. as i've said before I think after their shitty upbringings they agree they both want the most cliche domestic life ever and agree on having like 2-3 kids to cherish completely. like. there is so much love in this household. they resolve not to repeat what they went through with their own fathers.

that said, overall when it comes to ships I'm always more into exploring the pre-relationship and early relationship part of them and less the domestic aftermath, so said kids aren't really developed characters. Their first girl is named Lyra and that's really all I've decided on so far... (also I think they go with Debeste as the surname for the kids... something something the weight of the von Karma name...)
