been thinking a lot about how to organise fic recs into some sort of sensible post, 'cus there are so many (great!) pairings and (delicious!) driver combinations, not to mention so many varying styles of fic and SUPER TALENTED WRITERS!!111!!

LISTEN! charles to rbr is one of the best premises ever and i will read it in like a thousand iterations. but this fic. this fic series in particular cleared my skin, made me want to cut my hair into a bob out of sheer emotion. i would be remiss not to start with this one because its impact on my f1 rpf trajectory should be studied by science. you know when a story just jumps off the page and it's so real that it becomes your canon. a kind of meteoric inevitability. plus, i almost never cry at fics. but by the time the third act of this one hit, i just went -- damn, am i rly about to tear up at a f1 rpf fanfiction rn? (yes.)

max as a f1 engineer? for CARLOS at FERRARI? sign me the fuckkk up. first off, awesome premise. there's always going to be something so heartwrenching about "what ifs", especially in any universe where max isn't a racer. despite the change of circumstances, just... the sheer poetry of two characters who just inexplicably find their way to each other in any universe... 🤧 also this story nails racing scenes in a way that's so visceral, i feel like a fly on the damn halo with them. and, aside from the gourmet lestappen, carlos's whole thing in this fic is joyous! spicy! he's so unapologetic and vaguely annoying! hilarious! + the swimming pool scene lives rent-free in my head.

this fic is magic. literally and figuratively. (MERMAID LANDO???? MERMAID LANDO.) the kind of story that makes you gasp and melt a little bit. and made me want to throw my phone at the writer, 'cause it's really that good. the yearning, the metaphor for all that's monstrous, a boy who is lost (and the boy who he finds, is equally so). this is just beautifully written and a little quirky and so well executed. i think i put it in my bookmarks as "what if lando was a mermaid and it was filmed by a24" or something. pearl of a story.

leaf meal one. i have only known you a week but if anything were to happen to you i would wreck everyone in the room including myself. in all seriousness, anything that leaf writes is brilliant. they're one of these writers who could do a throwaway line on the label of a ketchup bottle and i will probably scream about it. the precision, the way they switch up sentence structures, the freaking darcy-level regency yearning transposed onto a contemporary sports setting. i'd rec all of leaf's sports AUs and i'll probably talk about more in a future fic rec post. BUT. the hockeyyy one my GOD. the barely restrained violence, their mutual desire, the theme of finding your place... *wails uncontrollably*

max is a governess(govern..lad?) and daniel is the mystery man at the manor. this was a response to a request i made in the kinkmeme! (if you haven't read those fics go check 'em out, there are so many great ones, and not necessarily all rated e). this is a criminally underrated little story that has my favourite repressed feelings + people dancing around each other + gothic vibes + "what the hell is wrong with y'all in this tale" combo that i really adore. it's really well written and captures the atmosphere so well.

i profess i am not usually the biggest fan of A/B/O (altho!! this fandom has made me go BUT ACTUALLY HM at least a few times). and this fic freaking nails it, along with the twisted power dynamics between TPs and drivers, as seen through the lens of omegaverse. this story rattles around my head like a stubborn ghoul just from the style and prose and sheer audacity alone. george kneeling at toto's knees while he's working..... ohhhhhhhhh i was this close to calling my lawyers.

i LOVE, LOOOOVE a sci fi concept alright. love that shit, will inhale it like moon dust with zero regrets. and what a fantastic one this one is!! the premise is that the FIA can now statistically show the compatibility of drivers on the grid and it's very pacific rim-y drift compatible, mixed with the surreal vibes of eternal sunshine or HER or some such. it should be outrageous, but it really works. that's the beauty of a great fic right there.

also one of the fics i first read when i hopped on board the f1 rpf train. the pain and poignancy just gets worse the more i learn about brocedes. you know when you're like "there's no way this was reallll" and then you're like "fuck, it was so real". then you get a fic like this that just encapsulates all that rage and loss and grief and upset, set against the starry vista of endless space. *clutches tablecloth* god.

So Agustin being the one to talk to humans, is he sorta the expert on them is he asked questions about them?

What do the sirens do? What's their routine, guppies sometimes go to the groto daycare and most adults go hunting or defending the area. I'm just curious how the community runs or just what it's like lol. What do the madrigals family do everyday?

Also I never explained or said it but. Antonio, along with other guppies, really only like one human from the ship they encounter. You know Milo, from Atlantis. Yeah, the human is basically like that dude, a linguist. He can understand the guppies, to an extent, so they like him. The guppies simply tolerate the other humans. They can’t get close or. They will get bit 💀💀

And yes. I have yet to draw the other siren Madrigals shhhhhh

Agustín isn’t an expert, but he definitely knows a whole lot more than the others in the community. He often will debunk the things that just straight up aren’t true. He is bombarded by guppies and younger sirens on a daily basis. They’re always asking him questions about human, but he doesn’t mind. He thinks it’s funny how interested they are, seeing that he in no major way, is he against humans entirely.

As for the sirens???? I guess it depends on the family. Guppies do go to the daycare though. They actually sleep in there most of the time, they rarely are in their family cave to sleep, because of how small they are compared to grown sirens. They’re picked up n the morning, go back in the afternoon, then they can free roam, and then their parents usually drop them off at night. Hence why there are always the caretakers at the Grotto.

The adults, most of the time, are hunting for some kind of food. Defending surprisingly isn’t a major priority. That job is typically left to jellyfish, you know like box jellyfish, considering how close jellyfish and giant sirens have been for decades. Some adults are farming, but it’s not for like sea animals; it’s for those giant shells that are used for guppies. They’re cultured and selectively breaded specifically so they can be used for guppies. And it’s not just like clams, it’s oysters, mussels, any kind of shell like that. Humans actually try and find these farm, because sometimes, though it’s rare, giant pearls can form within the shells. Pearls mean nothing to giant sirens, they hold no particular value, so they’re kind of just put into the family’s treasury and they move on with their lives.

Madrigals is very similar to what they do in canon. Just going around helping whoever needs it. Gifts??? I never really decided if they were a thing, but I’m leaning towards no??? Honestly them helping around is enough, and since they’re underwater, a lot of the gifts serve no real useful purposes to giant sirens. They!re very capable, and have no need for anything special.

And no! They don’t have beef. It’s more like a friendly sibling rivalry. You know, play fighting, talking smack, stuff like that. Alma doesn’t really play favorites in this AU. So nothing driving them apart. Isabela was actually the one who carried Luisa and Mirabel around in their shells when they were little, so she’s quite close with Mirabel.

FINALLY IT TIS FINISHED! So how they met starts like this:

In the beginning I thought over how I could realistically slip in Rosemary as an interest, and after reading Mass Effect: Revelation, I thought why not imagine this scenario: what if the consort he saved at The Sanctuary from Groto Ib-ba was instead a human?

If you haven’t read the book, there is a part where Saren interrogates and brutally gets info from this Blue Sun merc named Groto, preventing a Batarian consort from getting heavily abused by Groto.

After being saved from the altercation, albeit still having some slight bruises, Rosemary actually felt thankful to Saren. She had a feeling he was a Spectyre due to how casual, skilled, and unhesitant he was in the room, with that she suspected who he might be and knew he had a distaste for humans, but she couldn’t help but be curious about him and wanted to at least thank somehow. It would of been rude anyway to not thank a Spectyre.

In the morning, Rosemary would barely managed to catch him as he passed by the bar area, wanting to thank him with a drink. He only really accepts it and goes for a horask because he has a long night of… “Interrogating.” Nevertheless she is thrilled and orders some Asari wine for herself too, conversing with him while they would wait.

It’s obvious Saren wasn’t going to share a lot about himself, but he did confirm who he was, assured her she would be fine, and eventually found himself at least a little interested and amused by Rosemary, especially why she was in the consort business. Her dream is to be a famous consort like Sha’ira and provide resources to other species and help humans and alien species work together. In Rosemary’s opinion: Humans should eventually be on the council, but it is something that has to be earned since being on the council comes with a lot of responsibilities that humans are close but not quite ready yet. And the bad apples within humans don’t help with that. However she is faithful that they will have a spot there one day.

Of course Saren was still amused she was going to try to do such a thing through this line of work. Hell, he couldn’t imagine hiring a consort to drive away his loneliness, he had too much pride for that. Then again… She had quite lovely luscious hair, soft skin, and her eyes were.. Captivating. And it was when Rosemary asked how Saren managed his demons if it wasn’t any form of intimacy (meanwhile teasing his leg under the table with hers~), that’s when he would fluster blue on his face and try to answer quickly:

“I have work to do. That is more important than anyone’s emotions. The safety of the Citadel Space is my responsibility. I cannot allow myself to be distracted by… Emotions.”

Rosemary would tilt her head, letting her foot go higher up on his leg, making his mandibles twitch a bit and his face grow more blue, “That’s true, but this isn’t necessarily about emotions. Perhaps sometimes you just want to let go, have some temporary release.” She said and would then lean in a bit closer, letting him have more of a look at her, “You know, I do have other ways I can thank you, and no strings would be attached to this either~” Can you really help her? The woman’s favorite species was turians, he saved her, and she just couldn’t help but like the way she was getting under his skin.

Of course, Saren would decline but for the first time he felt awkward and not in control. He would get up from the table to make his leave but before he could even do so, she managed to give THE Saren Arterius a surprise.

Rosemary looked up at the tall Turian, slowly went down on his body, taking in his physique. “Well… That’s too bad. I’ll be getting back to work as well.” She then slipped him her business card, and dared to pay a kiss on his mandible, leaving a nice red lip mark. “Maybe I’ll see you some other time, Saren Arterius~” and with that she walked away, making sure to have a sway in her hips as she did so.

For a long stunned moment, Saren touched his mandible and looked at the card… Instead of throwing it away, he carefully slipped it somewhere before hurrying out of The Sanctuary. He would be getting to Khalee Grissom before Edan’s bounty hunter Skarr got there first. Until they would meet again though, Rosemary would continue to linger in the back of his head.

I will make a list of headcannons of these two soon since that will have to be a separate post :3

The planet also features two large metropolian areas of over a million people each, the capital Ujon and the city Hatre, location of the world’s primary spacesports.

As the colony world has a wealthy economy, it draws in a lot of visitors and immigrants of different species.

Of all the batarian worlds, Camala is easily the wealthiest one.

Among Batarians, social standing is extremely important and insulting a batarian’s social class is considered a very grave insult.

As social class is of such high importance among batarians, batarians place high value on dressing as well as they can afford.

Batarians tend to wear robes, even males.

Some of the most popular liquors on Camala are made by the hanar.

It seems like common knowledge says that the Blue Suns were founded by batarians and recently started taking on humans, when the reverse is true. It is possible that few people know the truth about the story behind the Blue Suns.

Batarians tilt their heads to the left to show admiration and respect. A tilt to the right is a greeting directed towards someone a batarian believes to be inferior.

Batarians tend to have relatively lean builds, compared to humans. Their necks tend to be longer and narrower than human necks, and their lips thinner.

The ridges of cartilage on top of a batarian’s head extend to their neck.

Batarian faces are covered with fine, thin hair that grows longer and thicker around the mouth, making them the second known species in the galaxy with hair.

It appears as if female batarians tend to have old Germanic sounding names (Jella, Helanda). Their names also tend to end in a though that could just be due to a Western-centric and anthropocentric approach from the writer.. (no offense to Drew I love him). Or it’s just the translator.

Surnames of batarians tend to have apostrophes in the middles or they are some sort of double name

Batarians are on the cutting edge of medical science

Most people don’t know into which pair of eyes to look in batarians, which gives them an edge in negotations as people will avoid eye contact with the race altogether, resulting in other people not being able to read batarians well

Padova e la sua provincia.

Carissimi Amci, ho scelto questo titolo perché oggi lasciamo Padova e i suoi tesori per inoltrarci un po’ fuori dalle mura e precisamente a Selvazzano, periferia della nostra amata città. Qui spicca infatti, una delle più belle Ville Venete , "Villa Emo- Capodilista ". Data la sua architettura particolare e la posizione in cui si trova si può dire che sia un fiore all'occhiello, per noi Padovani. Costruita intorno al 1580 come casino (piccola casa) di caccia. Il progetto, fu di Dario Varotari, allievo del Veronese, che la affrescò con Eliodoro Forbicini e Antonio Vasilacchi detto Aliense. Gli spazi interni, ed esterni sono stati progettati per godere al meglio il territorio e della natura.

Un luogo di incommensurabile bellezza, per ritrovarsi , festeggiare o meglio ancora, rilassarsi a pochi km da Padova e Venezia. Nel 1800 la parete a Nord, venne chiusa per aggiungere poche stanze di servizio che ne migliorassero la vivibilità e la rendessero confortevole anche per lunghi soggiorni. Il perimetro è formato a doppie Logge , anch'esse affrescate, che si affacciano sul giardino e che formano una fantastica scenografia. La particolare combinazione tra geometrie, pitture e paesaggio ha ispirato diverse opere artistiche e contemporanee. Nella Loggia terrena si notano ancora le iscrizioni che richiamano una rappresentazione teatrale l'Adriana, una tragedia di Luigi Groto, che pare sia stato un ispiratore di "Romeo e Giulietta " di Shakespeare. In tempi più recenti, la villa è stata Set, " The merchant of Venice, con Al Pacino. La villa Emo di Capodilista, viene chiamata spesso "La Montecchia" perché si trova solitaria sopra il colle che gli dà il nome, perché sovrastato da vigneti! Se siete arrivati fino a qui vi ringrazio infinitamente, abbiamo visitato insieme, un posto fantastico!
