If you bonded with a groomer or a predator or a very toxic and damaging person as a child or a teen, you need to know that none of it was your fault.
You don't look for red flags as a child. You don't know there are any red flags at all. The only thing you're capable of noticing in others are signs of acceptance, signs of them wanting you around, signs of attention, admiration, interest, love. As a child, you want those things so badly, and you're not naturally programmed to vet people once they show these things to you.
Your natural programming is to bond with anyone who doesn't seem outright threatening and dangerous to you. That's all you had to work with. If an adult got you to lower your defenses even a little, if they made you fee important and special, they were in and you had no way to see if they had any bad intentions. That's because you were a child, and someone else was supposed to make sure you don't get in hands of someone dangerous! You weren't equipped to figure it out. You weren't given the resources or the development to vet people, to see where any type of situation is going, to recognize any warning signs, any danger signs. As a child, you can't do that. And predators know this.
They know you're going to see them in the kindest, most innocent, least prejudiced light. They know you're going to project your own intentions on them; they also just want a friend, companion, someone who loves and admires and unconditionally accepts them! because what other thing could a person possibly want? That's all you know, all that exists for you at that point. You cannot see evil intentions because you have none, and it's incredibly hard for you to imagine someone else having one, especially if that someone has given some attention and kindness to you.
Kids can't defend against grooming. It's always the adult's responsibility to make sure the children are not exposed to dangerous and abusive people. Someone should have protected you. Someone should have acted as your caretaker. Both the groomer, and the person responsible for looking out for you, are responsible for you ending up groomed and violated. It can never be any of your fault.

I was thinking and I've come to the realization that people do not truly understand the damage that incest and rape does to you. They think they do, they think it's about forbidden romance and desire so strong that you can't help yourself but it's not. It's about control and power, about someone in a position over you deciding that your bodily autonomy and mental well-being come second to them. And it scares me that you can't say, "please do not sexualize abuse" without facing backlash on a website with this many survivors.

Family theme park apologises for drag queen act that left parents 'horrified': Boss confirms it will not take part in any future Pride celebrations after Ru Paul's Drag Race UK star used angle grinder on crotch during show
It showed drag queen Crystal, who performed on the first season of the BBC's Ru Paul's Drag Race and whose real name is Colin Munro.
He was seen wielding an angle grinder and wearing fishnet tights, a leotard and a pair of high heels as more than 50 people including several children watched the event, which was being held to close the park's Pride celebrations.
Performing to the tune of Scissor Sisters' hit Filthy/Gorgeous, Crystal made thrusting motions with his hips and ran his hand up and down the angle grinder while using it to make sparks fly from a metal plate fixed to his crotch.
Tumblr media
Philip Miller, executive chairman of Adventure Island, told MailOnline in a statement today that there had been 'confusion' as to 'what we would allow or not'.
He added that the 'grinding act' was 'definitely a nonstarter' because it was not 'family entertainment' and vowed that the park will not participate in any future Pride celebrations, nor will Crystal be booked again.

I think the people complaining about AFOs back story have forgotten what his character represents.
He’s a manipulative rich old man that wants to own and monopolize every major resource in the world so that he can be considered a god.
His entire being is a metaphor for major corporations and every politician and billionaire ceo ever… so him being a narcissistic and greedy kid isn’t at all surprising. He doesn’t have a traumatizing backstory because he’s a manipulative power hungry chump like he has been the entire series.

Saying kid characters of color can't be kids because 'They don't really act that age' is actual rethoric used to adultify irl traumatized younger poc as an excuse to make emotionally abusing or even sexualizing them look not bad.In addition to the racial aspects, this also plays into society's idea that kids can't be people because 'they're too young to comprehend feelings and thoughts' and it provides a safe haven for REAL child abusers both online and in person and it really shows with how often minors in fandom are cyberbullied by adults for speaking up for themselves even outside of this context

Republicans will be all like "save the children" but then turn a blind eye to the horrific abuse of children in ICE custody and throw their own LGBT children to the wolves by kicking them out to the Streets. 🐸☕
(content warning for discussion of child sexual abuse)
Tumblr media
If right-wingers were actually concerned about saving children from sexual abuse, they'd be focusing their efforts on where most children are being sexually abused. The trouble for them is that the same institutions they actively participate in and/or support (e.g. their fellow right-wing extremists, the Southern Baptist Convention, CPB/ICE, the Catholic Church, Donald Trump, etc.) are regularly accused of the worst examples of systematic child sexual abuse, with the accusations coming from actual people making credible allegations, usually backed by substantive evidence. There are media reports from well-respected outlets; publicly-accessible court documents and hearing transcripts; and public statement made by some of the victims that anyone could find to verify the claims with just a little effort. But right-wingers don't actually care about child sexual abuse. They don't raise money for counselling and therapy for survivors of child sexual abuse (and as politicians they often block access or prevent funding for therapy for survivors). They don't support NGOs that do credible work fighting human trafficking. They actively work against providing the kinds of supports that are the most effective at preventing children from being sexually exploited to begin with. What they do instead is use terms like "groomers" and "paedophiles" to tar-and-feather any outgroup they want to portray as "the baddies" in an effort to rally their troops to attack a scapegoat - both to distract people from the actual problem and what could be done about it and to build their followings and encourage violence against those outgroups. Currently it's trans people that are being subjected to this abuse; previously it was Muslims, then LGBTQ+ people before them, and so on. We're not saying that child sexual abuse is not horrific and that the problem does not have to be addressed, obviously. But the way the right accuses any group they're currently scapegoating as "groomers" allows the institutions the right supports that are currently and have historically engaged in the systemic sexual abuse of children to get away with it and even continue the abuse and shelter abusers without accountability. It also does real harm to legitimate organizations doing legitimate work combatting child sex trafficking because it takes resources away from them and diminishes the credibility of the movement as a whole. It's a cynical weaponization of child sexual abuse to gain political points against the perceived "enemy du jour" for the far right. It is especially ironic that people holding this viewpoint would then use it to justify ostracizing and rendering their own LGBTQ+ children homeless, since doing so makes their own children extremely vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse. That's a long way to say that the right-wingers are disgusting hypocrites, but there you go!

Batman and Robin were seen as a romantic couple in ye olden times not because they were intended as one but because the group of 'queer elders' that said they are were irl pedophiles and you literally can't prove me wrong.Relatedly, while i sympathize with Devin Grayson for the csa she went through and hope she's doing way better now as a cocsa victim himself, she was still in the wrong for writing Inheretance and the connected stories and she herself aknowledged this by apologizing for it in an interview i can provide a link for. She's not your prosh*p advocate anymore and i don't think i'll ever like her as a person but you can't use her as your leeway for this. Not this and certainly not all the potential victims back then who thought they were Robin to 'Batman' because of being groomed with the lies and it happens today too. It's happening right now and you're helping it get worse
