8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

Wasn’t sure what to share for this one but, I’ll go with this from my Tekken fic Fortified by Hate. I like it because it shows this deep, caring relationship that has been forged in the face of an abusive past, but it’s still also a sibling rivalry. It’s two brothers in trouble who’ve been hurt by their father, and to smooth over the situation, the elder brother, Kazuya, comes to check on his younger brother, Chaolan, and they bicker about who’s going to take over their father’s corporation until things feel more normal and less distressing again.

“Careful, Chaolan. Maybe I’ll make him my second-in-command.”

“That’s cool, Kaz, you can have whoever you want as your second-in-command when your running head of security for me at the Zaibatsu.”

Kazuya’s eyes flashed, and they were back to this argument – always playful, always deadly serious.

“You’ll be sharpening pencils in my PR department.”

“I’d be fucking amazing at PR. I’d make you a bouncer at my nightclubs, only thing you’re good for is starting fights with people half your bodyweight.”

“Prick.”

“Asshole.”

And like that the room was lighter, and Chaolan’s fingers were steady, and his shoulders proud. Kazuya’s work here was done.

“See you at dinner, moron.”

“See you, bastard.”

15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

This is hard! I think a lot of my stories wouldn’t work well as films, since a lot of the meaning happens in the in-between, if you get me. If you took just the action sequences and dialogue I think they’d be very different stories. Lots of what I’m trying to convey is hidden in thought, or written into casual scenery descriptions and particular objects that I’ve drawn attention to. I guess it would be fun to see all the world-building I put into my fantasy stories on the big screen, though I’d be worried that they’d never get the casting right! Something like Black Ice was modelled on the genre of Hong Kong crime movies, so just in terms of structure and convention, that one would probably work best for the screen. Also I’d love to see some good HK noir vibes - all neon and black streets and Grace Yeung in a bomber jacket and reflective green glasses walking through a gutter in a mini skirt with her gun in hand. Yeah… I’d watch the hell out of that.Cheers for the asks!

Man, Funimation is really cranking out these dubs now. Seems like they finally got a hang on this “Dubbing From Home” thing. Good. 

Watched the first episode of “The Day I Beacame a God” (or rather most of it) and it was fairly good for the most part. Dani does good (and is less annoying) as Hina/Odin and Mark Allen Jr. is fine as Yota. I just have to get used to his voice. 

As for Grace of the Gods, I would have to check that out when it drops today but with these leads and director (Jad Saxton), it should be fine.

a short story/novella duology focused on a triad princess, a triad heir, and their intertwined lives due to their respective roles in their families.

s p i l l e d  w a t e r

parted lips, exposed wrists, lidded eyes, and pretty lies; these are the things men like.

a soft silk pillow cushioned carina’s knees from the hardwood floors of their traditional house. mother lounged on an intricate golden chair fitted with crimson-velvet covers and throw pillows; the midnight sky tumbled down her back in thick, soft curls and she ran graceful, thin fingers through the strands, checking for dry ends. her red-painted nails glistened beneath the evening light.

carina bo yok hong is the eldest child of the hong clan. in her father’s eyes, her talent for strategic violence will never eclipse her womanhood. the dragon head title she covets will fall to her incompetent secondborn brother instead while she becomes a wife to a man chosen by her father. but if she cannot choose her future, carina will undermine any attempts to stifle her potential.

antonio wing hong yeung is the heir to the yeung family. a tiger born once in every three generations, or so everyone says, and he’s in need of a wife before his succession as the dragon head. he doesn’t care for beauty or charms; he wants a vicious, cunning girl that will slit the throat of his enemies if needed. and carina bo yok hong seems to be the girl that suits his needs.
