remember how we thought black widow (2021) was going to be the darkest mcu movie, but then after the really well-done opening credits montage, the movie stopped being dark, and then two years later, a silly little Guardians of the Galaxy movie ended up being the movie where every person I’ve talked to said that they were deeply upset by it and they cried 6 times and that it was the most beautiful marvel movie in years and 100% the darkest movie that the mcu has ever made and was surprisingly gory and had the mcu’s first f-bomb and i even openly wept in a movie theater for the first time since avengers: endgame and there were points where i could just hear everyone crying and

All the guardians love each other and are a family.  That is a fact.  But, I love that Rocket has three besties.  He has Groot, obviously.  He has Peter, by Peter’s own admission, he’s his best friend.  And he has Nebula.  They spent 5 years together during the snap.  She got him a Christmas present.  He gave her upgrades.  

And I love that two of those people, Groot and Peter, were there when Rocket woke up from his coma and the first thing he did, was ask for the third, Nebula.  Rocket deserves so much love.

The tragedy that is the majority of viewers not catching onto the fact that Gamora had tons of internal cybernetics and an entirely replaced skeletal system when those are the only things that will remain long after she's gone.

#lex thoughts #universe: mcu #gotg thoughts #ive seen many people assume the silver markings were just. weird alien makeup and not the metal poking out of her skull #but granted i can't really blame them when the only mentions of the internal stuff being a quick aside during the briefing on Xandar #but. i still think about it and how it never really got brought up. almost as if it didn't matter because it was all mainly on the inside. #odd and offputting. #especially when it was always made a point to highlight the cruelty of involuntary body modification enacted on Nebula and (mainly) Rocket #bummer moment sorry i just can't get over vol 3 and watching everyone try to cover up her death as if it didn't happen #and that meaning they didn't go to Vormir so they'd be able to give her a funeral nor do they even seem very bothered by that. #very sad and depressing when yondu was allowed one and appearance beyond the grave multiple times but gamora..? Denied. #i also dislike OG Groot becoming nonexistent to the team post Vol 1 so i guess you could say the precedent had been set. but #even rocket buried a piece of him in that planter. #i wouldn't want to be a bunch of metal bones rattling around but i guess you don't always get a choice #and Gunn's tweet that he did think to include OG Groot and Yondu in Rocket's afterlife scene. but very specifically left out Gamora. sigh.

he really is just so boyfriend. like the kind who would reach the boxes in shelves you can’t reach

he is just always into being your hero . doing things to make you swoon

peter quill has a hero complex for sure but it gets hiked up about 200% when it comes to you. he’s obsessed with doing everything for you because he knows you like it, even if you don’t actually need the help. he knows you’re totally capable of taking care of yourself but he wants to do it because he’s so incredibly down bad for you it’s sick.

yes he’s definitely the type to reach high shelves for you!!! so casually dominant of him tbh. he comes up behind you where you’re tiptoeing in front of the shelf and easily snags the box you’re reaching for. when he hands it to you he’s veryy smug about it. especially if he gets a thank you kiss, which he usually does.

he’s also always tying your shoelaces or zipping your dress or fixing your clothes for you. your shoelace comes undone while you’re out with him and he doesn’t even hesitate to get on the dirty floor to do it up for you. you put your hands in his hair and tug gently as a silent thank you and he swears he dies on the spot. and if your clothes ever ride up and threaten to show more skin than he knows you’ll want to, he’ll fix them without a word and it flusters you so much.

ugh and if you’re clumsy!!! he gets so good at catching you before you hurt yourself. if you’re about to trip he’ll catch you before you do and dip you cos he’s a dork, his arm locked around your lower back. you’ll laugh and swoon and say my hero all sarcastic and it boosts peter’s ego wayyy more than he’d like to admit.

Time for another subtle cue analysis from me!

Today's topic is Rocket's reactions to Gamora vs Peter in Vol 2 after they crash the ship on Berhert.

When Gamora is berating them for getting the ship wrecked, Peter wasn't taking the talk seriously and being boisterous, when it pans to Rocket, who Peter basically blames it entirely on, this is the first shot we get about how he felt when Gamora was yelling at them.

He's looking pensive, receptive, like "yeah, I guess I screwed up." he's open to the criticism, (and yes, it is fair he did set off the events of the space chase, but I think he was legitimately confident he could get them out of there unharmed without Peter's interference) but as soon as Quill tries to place all blame on him for the crash...

He's being antagonized, like 'that's how you wanna play?' And he gets defensive.

When they are leaving he looks at Peter and bares his teeth a bit, because he's still pissed at him, for blaming him for everything and calling him names.

At this point in his arc he's not sure if he belongs to the team, it seemed like a good idea when they just saved Xandar but now it's been a couple months and the high of being heroes together has worn thin and he is questioning if this is right for him. He's glaring at him side-eye style too. This causes Peter to turn to say something.

When he says, "Hope Daddy isn't as big a dick as you, orphan-boy," he is literally just saying this to be hurtful because he's been festering on this anger since the day before-- but if you watch closely you can see he's really, really just upset, and now Peter and the others are leaving him behind to do all the work on the ship, taking care of Groot and guarding their prisoner Nebula.

He is very conflicted and the main reason he's sticking it out is for Groot's sake. He remains pissed off until the encounter with Yondu because this argument with Peter never gets resolved. He has this fear that being himself, flaws included will make people hate him and Peter even drives that stake further in him with the last thing he says before leaving. "What is your goal here? To get everybody to hate you? Cuz it's working."

There's that affirmation.
