Pac: I wish I had a really nice background story for my- why I'm here. But you know, Felps just crashed the ship and I'm stuck! Fit: You've got an interesting history though, Pac! I mean, look at you escaping that prison! Like, that was not easy for you to do. [...] You've told me lots of stories about yourself and Mike's adventures. You've got a very interesting backstory. Pac: Thank you Fit, thank you. I'm glad to hear that you think it's cool. Fit: I mean– the cannibalism part, that sucks, but it is– It's cool! It's cool.
People keep wondering when Pac's going to tell Fit how he lost his leg, but during their date last week, Fit implied that their characters already had this discussion! Although this could've been an OOC part of their conversation, they've referenced this specific part of Pac's lore in past streams (this is just the most explicit example we've had so far).

Hey! i’m really into the dbch story and i was wondering if doc and xisuma ever tell bdubs the specifics of why etho lost his memories, cause if they do that is prime self blaming angst for bdubs
I’m inclined to believe they don’t. Actually (and maybe I should do a small comic for this so more people see it) I imagine, once a month or a few pass and they finally return etho to bdubs as reset, I imagine they are VERY serious about warning bdubs not to try to force Etho to re-deviate— they don’t go into specifics, but they probably tell bdubs that whatever happened had to do with something that was emotionally overwhelming, and that forcing him to redeviate/not letting it happen naturally could trigger the same error. They have no idea what could happen so bdubs needs to be very careful and let Etho find himself again on his own.
Whether or not bdubs gets impatient or can only go so long before he doubts it would be that bad if he tried pushing Etho in the right direction is another story.
But yeah. I don’t think Xisuma or Doc really… tell anyone that this happened. Etho’s error seemed like a very specific one-off scenario, so it’s not something the other hermits should be trying to avoid or be careful about happening to their own android friends, and the only thing telling people would do is make them worried about the situation. All they need to know is that etho was broken and that they need to be careful with him. I don’t agree with their decision to keep what happened to themselves but I understand it I think. Xisuma “i don’t want to worry the hermits” Void and Docm “eh this isn’t the first time I’ve replaced this arm, people won’t question it” 77

atsushi being sassy/salty, imo, is just a little comical way in which his... not quite essence, but inner feelings? express themelves. and i don't think that contradicts him being soft - in fact, i think these qualities enhance each other
atsushi being sweet despite having the ability to be cold, even murderous (i think beast shows it well, the fact he DOES have this instinct inside him - not just by showing how easily he became a killer, but also that bit about the beginning, how beast!akutagawa's solution to starving was eating weeds, while canon!atsushi went straight to thinking how he's gonna have to become a thief), is just proof that he's making that choice consciously
even when he's like, complaining to the audience, kinda, about his money when he takes kyouka on their "date", the fact is he still took her on it, he still made a choice to spend it on her to make sure she has a good day. he can be salty, but despite it he chooses to be kind
even with akutagawa. he's always like ready to attack him on sight, but he DID let him lean on his shoulder in that boat, he did protect his head while breaking through that window, he did show kindness to someone who is supposed to be his enemy
atsushi comes from a harsh background, his instincts lean more towards rudeness and selfishness at best and violence at worst, and despite that he chooses to be kind, to help, to be gentle when needed.
this is another way in which he embodies one of bsd's core messages, i think. while other characters lean more towards "you can always start again, you can always be good now even if you weren't before" (dazai, kyouka, akutagawa, odasaku just off the top of my head), atsushi is a slightly different version of this sentiment - "your past doesn't define you, your actions do".
and the beautiful thing is he still struggles with it. he's still quite violent at times, he has an entire breakdown about it in dead apple, he doesn't kill but he does maim. and yet he keeps going, he keeps making that choice every day, because he knows that's what he needs to do in order to live.

kai winn’s relationship to religion really is just so interesting to me in a way I come back to sometimes like. she’s the leader of a faith and her gods will not speak to her. they will speak to other people in front of her and they will make a human from a society that did not interfere with her planet’s suffering their emissary but they will not speak to her. and I’m sure she can do a lot to justify it in her mind because she would have to be able to in order to keep any faith, and she has to keep her faith because she says herself that’s all she had in the camps, but that’s still a terrible thing to experience. and I’m sure a lot of people would argue that it’s not real faith, it’s ambition, but I think it’s some of both, and most importantly I think on the most immediate levels she believes it’s faith.
and like I think she and a lot of other bajorans have a reason to have a really complicated relationship with the prophets because the more demonstrably real and powerful they are, the more they’re willing to interfere in things like the dominion war, the harder it would be for a lot of people to justify to themselves why the prophets didn’t do anything to stop the genocide of their chosen people. I think the pah wraiths plotline ultimately fell kind of flat when it kind of boiled down to “dukat’s weird cult” and it was also a victim of the season’s pacing issues, but it has some interesting implications regarding this divide in the bajoran people, particularly when their religious leader’s faith is being so seriously called into question.

Not going to lie, I’m surprised the fandom isn’t eating up the new tone shift and characters’ struggles in ep5. Maybe I’m not looking in the right spaces but fandoms usually love that stuff.
I KNOW I mean the amount of angst art that was made prior to the episode really made me think people were gonna take everything from the new ep and run with it. Though that's not to say people didn't. I've seen plenty of people discuss what happened in the episode (especially regarding John and his daughter/his family in general,, people were going insane over that and I get it like we're getting deeper into what happened to him and his family which I'm also super interested in. Plus seeing his photos in Ignacio's house really got people discussing his connections/past with the cult and how there's such a specific focus on John).

I love those HLVRAI moments where it could be silly or serious. Like, there are moments that are very silly in HLVRAI (most of it), and there are moments that are played completely seriously (eg: the clone fight). But like, then you get moments where it COULD be serious, or it could be a funny joke, and it depends on the interpretation you're working with.
Something like the line "Tommy likes mean people" is a great example- is it a throwaway line, or does it say something about Tommy or Benrey or their friendship? You can interpret it as Tommy finding himself drawn to people who are kinda dicks, and you can get interesting characterization out of that. A lot of people, me included, interpret it as at least partially a manifestation of Benrey not really liking himself that much- after all, why would Tommy be friends with him unless Tommy liked mean/bad people?
Or you can just interpret it as a funny throwaway joke that doesn't mean anything. Because it COULD be a meaningless line, and if you think it is, then that's a good reading as well!
Another moment like that is when Dr Coomer says "Never fear, Gordon! I lost the ability to feel pain 3 years ago!" You can take it as just a joke if you want- it is VERY easy to do so. But at the same time, you could take it with Dr Coomer's speech at the end of the clone fight, when he says that Gordon going to sleep and ending the game puts him through excruciating pain. You can take it with Dr Coomer's being a cyborg, and try and figure out something from that. I don't know what you'd conclude exactly from the cyborg thought, but what you could conclude in conjunction with the clone fight is the conclusion that the game shutting down so painful that a character who has been unable to feel pain for three years is in complete, unbearable agony when it happens.
Or it can just be a joke! Because the delivery and context is funny! And that's the thing! HLVRAI is the series most able to be a pick-and-choose-canon series ever, because it is a stupid improv comedy where nothing means anything, and so anything can mean everything. And so, different people put emphasis on different things. Some people take moments as jokes, some people take them deadly seriously.
And the creativity you can get from taking those moments seriously is amazing. Like, I've taken a lot of moments that were 100% jokes and connected them into a kinda horrifying narrative of what exactly's going on in Benrey's brain through the series. And like, you can say I'm stretching canon with it, because I am. But you can't say my reading of those moments can be completely and totally false. And I've made people cry with this shit!
You can watch HLVRAI and see it as a complete joke series with the only serious character moments being with Dr Coomer and maybe Gordon. Or you can look at specific moments, and say, okay, what if I played that straight? What if I didn't take this joke as a joke? What does it say about the characters, and what drama can I get out of it?
And who can stop you except a loser who wants to smother fun? There's no one interpretation of HLVRAI, and anyone who tries to say there is one is, to be completely and utterly honest, a complete fucking loser.

Jason never got to be 16. makes me sad.
Not to deny that Jason not being able to make it to 16 in his first life is sad, but I mean he did technically end up making it, and he made it to 17 and 18 and 21 and so on and so forth, it just happened "in round two" so to speak.
What I think is sadder though, is that depending on whether he was 15 or 14 years old when this happened:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are one of two ways he would've spent his sixteenth year.
Option 1 (if he was 15 at the time of his ressurection):
Tumblr media
(This is 1 year post initial hospitalization)
Or Option 2 (if he was 14 at the time of his ressurection):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And this is 2 years post initial hospitalization, 1 year post escape from that facility)
Happy sweet 16th, Jason John Doe #265 :)

I really hope we get to see Alastor’s death at some point in the show. It has to be a very interesting scene, because there’s so much that’s fascinating about the way he died and his character. Because Alastor’s whole Thing is control, and power. He needs to feel in control of the situation at all times, and once he loses that control, it leads to some…interesting consequences, like the famous mental breakdown of episode 8. And my childhood serial killer obsession is about to start showing a little bit, because I love how his death ties into him being a serial killer. If you didn’t already know, control is a big reason, if not the main reason, that serial killers, y’know, kill. They get a thrill off of being able to enact their will and power onto someone else, and take control of someone else. It’s a pretty solid assumption that Alastor’s need to feel in control and his hunger for power were part of what pushed him to start killing. And for him to die by sheer chance? Dumb bad luck? It must’ve been earth shattering for him. Especially with the circumstances surrounding his death. As far as I know, it’s canon that when he died, he was in the process of disposing of a body. Can you imagine, he’s just committed another successful murder, he’s continued to evade the police, and he’s about to dispose of the body of his most recent victim, still riding the high from the kill? He must’ve felt like a god, untouchable. And then, suddenly, a careless hunter spots him, and Alastor is as good as dead by the time he hears the gun go off. And just like that, in the mere moment it took to pull the trigger, Alastor’s control and power is stripped away from him. By pure chance, and nothing else. He must’ve felt furious, or humiliated, when he got to hell. Especially when he realizes that his final form for all of eternity is a deer, the very thing he was mistaken for, that got him killed. And a perfect example of helpless prey. The whiplash he must’ve gone through had to have been crazy, and it makes me really want to see his death. Sorry but I wanna see the deer boy suffer

I'm gonna get hate for this, but when do I not yk
I forgot to add this is mostly towards show stans lol so this may not make sense if you haven't seen some of their arguments
You cannot say that Rhaenys was the rightful heir to the throne while also believing Rhaenyra was the rightful heir to the throne.
In both situations, Kings chose successors in the way they wanted. Viserys chose Rhaenyra as his heir, and Jaehaerys left it up to the lords. They made their choices.
I also see the argument a lot on TikTok that the king's word is the last word- then why do you not apply it? Jaehaerys allowed the lords to decide, and they decided against Rhaenys. That was his word.
So, which do you believe? Was Rhaenys the heir or Rhaenyra?
And just to be clear, Rhaenyra wasn't the rightful heir for a number of reasons.
1- Viserys' stupidity. In Westeros, according to Andal law of succession, the Eldest son inherits, and then down to the youngest. Then, Eldest daughter to the youngest. So, because Aemma died, having only one child (Rhaenyra) THAT made Rhaenyra the rightful heir. Daemon was only considered if Rhaenyra had been too young, or dead. Viserys simply took the extra step of confirming this. But Viserys CHOOSING (A king cannot be bullied into remarrying- he's a fucking king.) To remarry to Alicent overruled that. When he remarried the sole point of it (Not really, his only point was to fuck a 14-year-old while he could still fuck) was to produce more heirs, which they did. Putting Aegon ii above Rhaenyra in the order of succession, as well as Aemond and Daeron. But Viserys never formally acknowledged this, he was very white democrat about it and just ignored it best he could. He only ever truly made a comment about it in the safety of his castle.
2- Rhaenyra committed high treason multiple times. She had three bastards, as well as tried to put them on not only the Driftwood throne but the iron throne. She lied to the king and queen countless times about it and allowed her bastard to permanently mutilate and disable the son of the king with no consequences- she even asked that the son of the king be tortured further. (The bastards were never legitimized; to legitimize a bastard you must first admit they are one, which never happened. And even if they had been they would not be legitimized as Velaryons, but Strongs. Meaning their only true claim was to harrenhal.) She and her husband also accused the queen and hand of sedating the king with drugs to rule in his place.
So no. Neither of them was the rightful heir and it most definitely wasn't their birthright. I don't like any of the Valyrians, they're all white nazi trash and deserved to have their dragons killed. So don't go telling me I like a rapist. That argument is stupid and ignorant anyway, the number of times I've seen survivors told they like rapists is disgusting- as a survivor maybe, possibly, idk, THINK ABOUT WHO YOU'RE TELLING THIS BULLSHIT TO. And you can't tell people they like Aegon ii/they're rape apologists without applying that logic to yourself. You like Daemon the pedophile rapist. You like Rhaenyra the racist misogynist (Don't deny it, she's the Caitlyn Jenner of women), and you like Mysaria who wanted to sell Alicent and Helaena to brothels and watch as they were raped and impregnated (Which Rhaenyra agreed to). So shut the fuck up.

eisfuura, bard and fighter?
(CR Asks)
Eisfuura: Who is your favorite NPC?
Appropriately enough (since this is a bird question) it’s Kiri!! She is one of my top favorite characters in the whole M9 campaign. I really hope we get to find out in C3 what she’s up to these days and I can’t wait to see her in the M9 animated series. (Also I’m glad we’ll get to see her goodbye to Jester animated because I can’t believe they parted ways with her while Laura wasn’t there! I understand why they did it, it would have been too dangerous for her where they were going, but I’m sad that Laura wasn’t there to RP Jester in that moment.)
Bard: What is your favorite “how do you want to do this?”
Ooh okay. I don’t know if it’s my favorite but the one most burned on my mind is Imogen lightning bolting Evil Sun Tree in Darkstone because that was the end of a MERCILESSLY INTENSE fight to determine whether my favorite character of all time was going to be allowed back in the game. And it was SUPER CLOSE, she was barely alive and only survived because she had to spend her last Mote of Possibility (which she was probably saving for Laudna’s resurrection ritual) to make Delilah reroll her last attack on her.
Also there was some really nice symbolism there because she opened the fight with the words “Delilah Briarwood, we’re gonna sunder you.” You know, like lightning does to a tree. And that was what she did in the end, with all the love and fury in her soul.
Fighter: What was your favorite funny moment?
Oh no there are too many individual moments to choose so this is more like “funniest running gag” even though most of the scenes involved with it are actually traumatic but is endlessly hilarious to me though how much of a ruckus Bells Hells cause whenever they go to Whitestone. Especially from Percy’s point of view. They barge into his office at 7am with a dead body demanding he bring it back to life, unwrap it to reveal what at first appears to be the corpse of his wife before he realizes that no it’s actually it’s the anonymous girl whose murder has been haunting her for 30 years why do they even have this?? also HOW is she somehow inhabited by the spirit of his worst nemesis? Against his protests they bring her back to life (?? this part is debatable) and she in turn immediately resurrects a dead rat which she insists is a long-lost relative of his, and then makes him hug a tree. They refuse his offers of hospitality but steal a bunch of linens from the castle and sleep outside in the main square. They leave. They come back and inform him they need to go to the moon. They break into a room in the castle that he has specifically sealed off and invoke the spirit of his worst nemesis IN HIS HOUSE. They destroy an armoire to make a sled and break all the castle windows with rocks. Before they leave for the moon one of them turns himself into a living bomb and detonates right underneath the thing that is the living heart of his city. Also, they picked a fight with a blameless crepe vendor in the street.
BH, why are you like this. (Don't ever change.)
Also something about the contrast between how Laudna is perceived by the de Rolos when she's dead -- she's this object of pathos, a symbol of the guilt and trauma of a horrible thing that happened 30 years ago that they feel both responsible for and a victim of, and can never fully atone for -- and when she's revived like oh she's not just a dead doll that looks like Vex there's a whole personality there and it's bonkers and delightful and she has a pet dead rat and friends who love her so much they crossed continents to bring her back to life -- is so good. (Not necessarily funny just really good.)

Anyway, that's all to say that I can't believe it never really dawned on me that his horns could do something similar. I suppose because the demon horns in general seem pretty immobile... except for his. Like this is a unique to Barbatos situation as far as I can tell. I don't think anybody else has horns that have joints, you know?
I kinda hc Asmo's horns to be smth like scorpion pincers. however the joints are hidden under his hair... yeah maybe we have to change he canon designs a little bit but its worth seeing asmo using his horns for yoga/excerside purposes TT
Ah so much yes!
I hadn't considered that there could be joints beneath the hair. And if there's anybody else who should have horns that can move, it should be Asmo. Exactly because I love the image of him doing yoga with them... I keep imagining him in one of those super eighties/nineties leotard and leggings outfits, with leg warmers on his legs but also little ones on his horns adlkfjfjklf. He's doing one of those step routines and the horns are pinching and unpinching on beat.
He's out in the garden on a yoga mat in warrior pose with his little pincer horns all stretched out parallel to his arms...
I wonder if Asmo ever paints his horns? Or otherwise decorates them? I mean, I haven't seen any such things in official art. But I kinda think he'd be more likely to experiment with the appearance of his demon appendages.

#sorry im thinking abt death again#because it's weird to think that ive been in the room. maybe a meter away from someone as they died#that someone being my mom. its just weird. the time in the hospital feels like it happened in some dark little pocket universe detached from#time. a calm room and then the soft blips of a monitor then the nurse rushing in to say she'd passed#i dont kno y ppl use that phrase: passed on. i mean i do. it softens the topic. makes it sound peaceful. ive yet to use it. i just say she#died bc thats what happened. is that insensitive? i dunno. when i was home i realized that i come off as much stranger than i think. the way#my family see me doesnt fit how i see myself. i dont kno what to do with that. i dunno. theyre all together today#for an early easter. and im halfway across the country again. nose so stuffy ive had to mouth breathe for the last 3 days#and again. everything feels the same as it did before but also profoundly different. sometimes i cry in the mornings. or when i think abt#future vacations she wont be there for. bc in the end she quickly slipped away in a way that couldn't be described as peaceful until her#last half a day. and all i can think about in that tiny room is how scary it would be to lose control like that#and how its not fair and she didnt deserve to die only halfway through a lifetime. but its not about fair and its not about deserving.#sometimes bad things just happen. that's life. and now i own a book called motherless daughters. and now im standing with the countless#others who've lost their moms too early. ive already become aware of 3 ppl in my daily life who are in the same club#i keep thinking about this moment that happened between my parents at the hospital. apparently my dad was helping her get cleaned up and her#stomach was so bloated she looked like she had a bby in there. which my dad said. and my mom apparently said: but it's a baby no one want. i#dont kno y that upsets me so much. all the things i heard abt her being in the hospital before i got there upset me. and the rest of my#family was there to see it. so i have the least traumatic version of the story. and i got almost 27 years with her. except my sisters#probably got more time with her bc i spent so much time away. or maybe not. i dunno.#i dunno. im just sad that shes gone and sad that it was drawn out even a little bit. 6 days isnt long but im sure it felt like an eternity.#again not fair. nothings fair. 53 years of unfairness culminating in a tragedy. she would hate me characterizing it like that. she lived a#full life as they say. full with an asterisk on account of length#unrelated
