okay, so, idk if anyone else does, but i enjoy my weird little dialogue segments and i wanted to share a pretty important one with you that takes place during part three of the ravesey hate. it was honestly much more groundbreaking information when we were still trying to put a finger ( except, Absolutely Not; no one put a finger on #baeven unless he asks you to put it there, no one touch my son :'c ) on what ravenstan's real personality is and why he's not acting super cool ( bc he is naught, lol ) so now it's a little Less shocking but...still relevant.

so it starts out really cute, but it's kind of a Heavy dialogue exchange because for context, they're at a diner, they're chatting, ravenstan is kind of stressed out/nervous and a little drunk bc he had some box wine, brought the 'Emergency Escape Hatch' flask and dumped it into his soda fml, so he is sharing a liiittle too much information w/ kyle. but idk, kyle is his super best friend, even though it's a secret, he feels comfortable around him, so it all kind of just comes out bc he's been keepin it buried inside him for so long…tldr, sa tw. :(

but again, it's mostly just dialogue? i wrote in some stage directions for zest, but if i had finished any of the dialogue w/ actions i would have posted my chapters...which i didn't...bc i couldn't, lol. so have this! its spelled wrong in many places and all the weird waxing poetic descriptions don't make sense...lol, i'm sweating. but once again, as always, darlings, pls enjoy the worst part of your day...Literally. </3

ps. hold on, for additional context, ravenstan tried to slyly ask kyle about his past boyfriends to which Whore Slut Floozy Jerseykyle was immediately like 'I Don't Do Boyfriends' skhdlkshdsk but went on to mention that there was one guy in his english class freshman year that Was Naught His BF who kyle saw more than other boys.

The Rescue - Chp 50 - An Upsetting Arrival

SURPRISE, EVERYONE

I was thinking of holding off until after NaNoWriMo to start posting again, but my heart's been full watching the start of the Gamers Vs MS relay this morning (it's one of my favourite charity streaming events and I feel like it basically snuck up on me this time) and it inspired me to just go ahead and put this out there.

The incredibly sweet things I've been getting in messages and comments since I went on hiatus have been so so so good, I can't even word it properly ;-; You're all so amazingly sweet, and I hope that this can bring y'all some joy and fun <3

I'm hoping to go back to updating The Rescue every two weeks (on Fridays, not Saturdays) until I need to catch up again <3 The Stranding will take a bit longer for me to get enough written to be comfortable posting again, especially with November getting taken up by me and @adjacentperception's new project that I think you'll all love when we get to post it!

I'm gonna go watch some charity streams and pick away at writing more for today, but I love you all and thank you all so so much for being with me on this journey! You're all so incredibly sweet ;-;

Tbh? I still feel so out of my depth whenever I try to write Bill. For whatever reason it doesn't come naturally to me like writing Ford does. Every time one of y'all has thoughts on Bill's characterization or writes something Bill-centric I'm mentally taking so many notes

#godsrambles #im in that weird inbetween of knowing when his characterization Feels Right but not knowing how to write him so it feels right #its like that stage in art where your eye for good composition and colors and anatomy improves but you dont know how to actually apply it #what i should do is write some short scenes where he interacts with other people #because most of the fics I've written are 100% his internal thoughts when he is completely alone #which is way easier. takes away at least a few of the layers youd usually have to keep track of with this goddamn guy #the only one i can think of that had bill actually talking to someone else is parhelion. and i KNOW i slightly mischaracterized him in that #made him a lil too Smooth. made his manipulative front a lil too gentle and kind and patient #but since its from fords Very Reverent Rose Tinted Glasses perspective i dont think its that big a deal #and also the more i lean into him Seeming Perfect To Ford the more sinister it is to read with the knowledge of what happens later #which is. so much fun. and im so normal about it #but i still do want to get better at writing him interacting with others #ironically one issue that seems to come up is me being like 'whenever he talks to people they always respond exactly how he expects them to #like subconsicously. in the form of 'they get tricked successfully' or 'they are annoyed and bothered to the extent he was going for' #tfw you cant write a character bc you accidentally have the same innaccurate thought process as him #tags essay #TBH writing him as Too good at manipulation in parhelion is also billcore. #'this is how it happened right. im soooo good at trickery good job me' #if you count 'tricking yourself' then yeah bill youre the best at trickery there ever was

im a little sad we don't get to see lister spend more time with (friendly, non-humanoid, not deadly) animals in rd bc the few seconds we get with him and frankenstein on screen together are So Cute. like he's so gentle and sweet with her and the fact that he'd willingly let himself get frozen in time for a while so she could live is such a real thing to do like i would 100% do that for my cat in the same situation. ik he has The Cat in the series but he's a whole entire person he just has cat-like tendencies. it's not the same. lister should have a little furry beast to be friends with i think
