SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT Super Liveman Robo

In for a penny, in for a pound, I guess. While I was disappointed by the first one due to it omitting the original transformation, if it's going to sit around my room, I might as well make it look as cool as possible. And while it's still a little cheaty cheater boi, I prefer how this one handles its transformation. That's not to say it doesn't have a very large flaw, but it at least looks very cool.

The Good: Land Bison and Sai Fire are bricks, but they don't really need to do anything? They're big vehicles, and that's all they need to be. They also look great.

And Super Liveman Robo is very cool. The main components have very simple, but effective transformations that combine super solidly onto Liveman Robo. It's posability doesn't take any hits in this form, either.

The Bad: Like with the original, there are a lot of large chunk parts that you swap out between modes, but they are mostly larger and easier to keep track of. The only one that really bugs me is the silver chest detail.

The only real issue is there's no Live Boxer. If you're unfamiliar with Liveman, Land Bison and Sai Fire have their own, individual robot mode, but it was omitted here to make Super Liveman Robo better. And while I appreciate the vision, it makes this set just a companion piece; there is absolutely no reason to buy this unless you have the original.

The Details: I only used panel liner on this one, though I did want to use black paint on a few areas. The trouble was, a lot of this kit is already painted to make it worth its premium price point, so I wasn't comfortable using paint on the already painted areas.

Overall, this is a companion piece only, though a nice one if you decide to track it down. It's just a bit better in terms of quality than its companion, and its integration is very solid, though the lack of a Live Boxer mode is very disappointing. Remember, this is a premium piece, so if you see it for [expensive], that's why.
