I used a reference photo of some random theater play. And I will be honest that reference literally started it all because it was perfect for multiple characters. You can see similar poses and lighting as well lol

It's funny you can't see Razzle here because I was trying hard to hide from Bean that I included him ahahaha

Me struggling with bg... And all the characters too hahha. Have no idea why I chose such complicated designs together (well, some of them are complicated yeah)

Lined and ready... My friends were like "you aren't going to colour it, right?" Right.

I finished rendering bg first, surprisingly it took me only two hours and one layer haha. I see some mistakes already but was too eager to finally be done with it. Not gonna show bg separately because I don't want it to be used anywhere but here <3 Then I layed out all the colours(the fact that some details died with final render always kills me from inside slightly<//3) and shaded the characters. Each character took me from 20-40 minutes, depending on how complicated their design and lighting were. I was really determined to make every character look good in their own environment, like on close ups, but also to make the whole thing work as whole too.

Funny how ugly it looks without final effects too lmao. The final pic you have already saw. Thanks for attention<3

So this year artfight for me was,, a bit uncontrollable. Last year I feel like I had a good balance going between attacking and revenging, I managed to both reply to atackes and start the interactions; this year tho, was only attacks. And they were so random - some I did in like 3 days, and some I've been working on since the start of the month and only finished weeks after-

I'm honestly sad I couldn't revenge so many cool art I got. It all made my month so I hoped I could pay back a little! Hope yall are not offended and hope I can get back to it next year - If I survive ehh :,)

In my defence, it was hard from the start: 30th June was the last exam and then vine boom artfight, I got 0 time to relax and be stupid, oh and also goverment is after me. And health stuff, as per usual

But on the bright sight - at least I managed to paint this 4 pieces and tbh I'm proud of them!! ;w; Testing quick coloring, reading about characters (seriously I love to see other peoples stories), so I really tried to put some little pieces of plot and interaction into scenes and personalities into the portraits. I hope yall can see it too and it's all cool in the end ✨

Last year was my first ArtFight and I wasn’t actually educated on the hidden nuances and stuff. I found this character and I really liked it (it was a shark chicken!!) so I drew it multiple times in a row, ((think sketches)), and like.

I wanted the person to see all of them—and I colored them in and fixed them up to look roughly finished. I even animated one of the sketches and colored it!

But like I just rapid fired on the person I attacked and now that It’s been a year I don’t know what they think of me. Because on one hand I basically sent out like 5 attacks at them and some people would consider that to be low level and.. point farming.??? I guess?? But on the other hand I genuinely cared about each one (((even if the colors were kind of messy))).

So. Yeah.

Anyway have a good day mods! ArtFight is around the corner!

Artfight is officially done for the year! And I just wanted to do a little personal overview for the year just because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pros:

I made a lot of art that I think turned out pretty dang cool

I got some really wonderful attacks this year??? Like I posted a newer OC and he got some really wonderful art 😭😭😭 and my other OCs got some wonderful love too!!

Some of the responses on my art were so nice and I just 😭😭😭 like it was really nice to have folks be really excited, last year like a third of the attacks I did didn’t even get a reaction at all which was kind of a bummer

Some of my friends joined for the first time this year and it seemed like they had a good time! And I love that it was a good experience for them!

I feel like I really learned and grew with a lot of my pieces this year! I tried some new things and I noticed I’m drawing a lot faster than I used to which is really cool!

Cons:

The biggest one was I twinged my arm two weeks in due to overuse (drawing in bad positions, yoga, and work) and it really sucked :/ it finally started feeling okay to use like a few days before the end so I could finish up some attacks, but definitely was a wake up call to rest my arm more…

I had three attacks like partially done that I just didn’t have time to finish because of that :/ I also tried to see if I could start/finish an attack in an hour and I couldn’t lol

One person I did revenge on had some stuff in their bio about using attacks for promotion of their projects and it made me really uncomfortable… like I’m not even sure if I want to post my attack to here, because even though I said I didn’t want it to be used for such it still makes me feel weird… Artfight isn’t about having people give you free promotional material, it’s for fun.

One of my friends didn’t have a great artfight this year and I’m bummed about it :(

I follow a blog that talks about Artfight drama and apparently there was a lot of drama regarding the folks running the site… like a bunch of people stepped down and now I’m nervous about the future of artfight 😬 hopefully everything works out :/

Unless Team Vampire pulled off a miracle this is the first year I’m going to be on a losing team lol ah well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know this looks like a lot of negative, but in reality I had a really good Artfight this year! I made some pieces that I think are neat, and I got some wonderful responses!

Also, I did a thing with my attack titles that truly makes me giggle:

I'M PARTICIPATING IN ARTFIGHT

I took a while, but i finally finished an adequate number of refsheets for it!

In order you have Max and Alëxice, two third of the cast of an old webcomic i worked on. They used to run an inn designed to rob people, but eventually had to leave it behind on a whim to save the world.

Next is Sarah Blackblood, a less-than-a-game used dnd oc which i ended up building an extensive world around. Usually serves as a go-to when it comes to my ocs.

Following them is the main character of an old Minecraft Machinima i made years ago, which still goes nameless, and the antagonist of its first chapter, Sexy Demon Dude. That's his name. It's in the credits.

Finally i added the culmination of years of building upon my first sona, through writing, roleplaying outside with childhood friends and most importantly, following her journey through Terraria, to the point where she is now her own entirely unique character. Additionally, I added a character i played in a much more recent playthrough of the game as well. I feel as if both are just as iconic, y'know kind of on a personal level but whatever, they have cool designs too.

Originally a few more were going to be present, including my sona, but i'll keep them for next year... i think 7 is well enough for now.

Regardless, glad to have finally finished them all !! Sorry i'm 3 days late !! Here's my Artfight for anyone who's tempted to attack any of these goobers, i'm on team Werewolf, and good luck to everyone !!!

The three major pieces I did for ArtFight 2023!

In order of appearance ----- Botany Practice

Return fire for Arkhan of their character Salën featuring a Dhena, a fox-like companion. 

Oh man, this was a whole process, haha. I haven't really drawn any human characters in I'd say close to 2-ish years or more? I'd been working on this for about 3-4 days, which I think is just further testament to how rusty I am in the humanoid art realm. 😅 The concept sort of ran away with me, and now that I've finished there are definitely elements I think I would approach differently, but overall I'm very happy with it. 

Still trying to get the hang of dramatic lighting, and I think perhaps I am too fearful of losing details in shadow or accidentally blowing things out. One day I will find the balance, I swear. 

I had such a fun time putting this together, though, and I want that hat.  ------- Showtime

Featuring Ori_gina_lart's yeen character Gharban.

I love this character design. Sometimes you see a character and an image just punches you in the face and you have to draw it- Gharban is one of those.

I imagine he ran into someone on his "day off" and things took an unexpected turn, though ultimately he came out 'victorious'.

This year for Art Fight I'm really trying to focus on having energy and feeling in my pieces and testing out different techniques. For this piece, I wanted something messy, and raw with gritty textures because that's just what felt right for him. I'm particularly proud of his hand (kudos to my partner who let me pose & re-pose him to take reference pictures) and the expression on his face. I tried a lot of different eye shapes to get that wild bloodlust vibe I was going for, and I think I ultimately succeeded in getting that across. ------ Golden Afternoon

I too love crunchy fall leaves, and so I thought it would be nice to feature LimeGhosty's Bramble in a quiet moment enjoying the small pleasures in (un)life. Leafeons are probably one of my faveourite pokemon and I have such a soft spot for creatures with fungus and nature growing out from their ribs, so there was no question in my mind about doing a piece for this amazing character.

I like to think that he's having a good time in his leaf pile and enjoying the soft sunshine.

This is a Revenge! Attack for this killer piece of Cyrus.

ok i was actually kinda scared to fill this out, since i was certain that i’d managed to go months without making anything substantial and was kinda freaking out about how little i actually did this year, but I actually ended up having at least one or two vaguely-polished pieces to pick from for every box! I’ve made some things i’m still really proud of too.. even if i don’t think I’ve improved over the course of the past months as much as I would have liked to, or as much as I have in previous years, I think i can cut myself a break this time all things considered. 2020 sure was something

Artfight is basically like an art game ! It's once a year and lasts a whole month (July)

There are two teams; you draw the other teams' ocs to score points for yours! There's also friendly fire allowed, but it wont score as big as attacking the other team with art

The more rendered and finished the art piece is, the more points you get !

It sounds intense but the important thing is to have fun !! nothing brings me more joy than seeing the recipents comments/tags :'DDD
