the cause is for palestine, and the protests remain centered on it. yet it is undeniable that they have since turned into a coalescence of people turning out for so many unaddressed issues, driven by tensions that have remained in the air since 2016, 2020, kindled by the first spark. the presidents, deans, provosts, etc. ignore that it is the students and faculty incorporated that constitute the university, not the bureaucratic function of a profit-seeking apparatus that has hollowed out and repressed the former. faculty who have no bone in these protests or who even don't fully agree with students have turned out to protect students and to fight back against the neoliberal university. in texas, protesters yelled "where were you at uvalde?" at the cops. at city college, one of the demands is for a free university, a long-standing CUNY demand. the students at cal poly humboldt are very poor, kicked out by the admin from the cars they were living in years prior.
the same is true for republicans and the cops. they're not just there because they're pro-israel or they're summoned by university administration: the NYPD right now, if they attack, will be venting their spleen for their far-right causes, for all the pent-up aggrievement they feel. they will attack for 2020, for BLM, for biden, for lgbt causes, for abortion rights, because their boys who were at jan 6 are villified, their president under criminal trial
i feel like i should put a counter at the top of my blog of what day of migraine we're on. currently 29. and have a 'days since' when this ends that'd be funny
she posted such beautiful images before this. cant have shit on this website how does this keep happening. why do people keep doing this who wakes up & goes 'Yeah im gonna watch the show from the racist guy and then reblog fanart.' Who does that.
SMILING FRIENDS ON MY FUCKING DASHBOARD 😐😐😐 WHAT. BYEEEE
people refuse to see the violence it takes to maintain the status quo as such and instead fear the hypothetical violence it will take to destroy it. they see the current order of things as a state of stasis and inaction, instead of as a violent order upheld by constant action, which can be undone by action
All the reports coming from Rafah from the early hours of April 29 are literally identical: "Israel targeted the house of [family name]"
The same title, over and over again.
All within a couple of hours last night, three family homes in Rafah have been struck, killing at least 20, the majority of whom are women and children.
We now know about Project Lavender and we know about Israel's constant surveillance of Gaza so when I tell you that Israel had targeted civilian homes last night in Rafah, you know that there is absolutely no room for questioning Israel's intent here and always.
Living in America is just constantly looking at how AMAZING our propaganda machine is 24/7 365.
All day every day, the people who are supposed to "entertain" you will just say "Um, those problems are over there, we will forget them, we will move on, let's focus on what's going on at home <3" Then when we speak on Palestinians being hurt, harassed, and shot here while being demanded to condemn Hamas, Vigils being shut down for fear of "inciting violence", words of resistance being criminalized, Students being expelled for being pro-Palestine, protesters gassed and beaten?
They will say "Well, what do you want TRUMP to win?"
I love this because like 99% of this kind of paleoart is patriarchal Man the Hunter type fantasies but these guys are just like “fuck it we’re outta here”
