Went through my last years attacks and realized that a lot of art Im proud of didnt get comments or revenges. Feels bad man. Next time Im going to check that the people I want to attack are commenting before even looking at their characters.

I know it's silly, but I feel a bit hurt when artists attack me and they mostly attack the characters I didn't design myself. I never thought I was a bad character designer or anything, but things like this really make me feel that way. Guess I'll have to practice character design some more. Does anyone else feel this way, by the way?

When I make a hitlist, I like adding an obligitory 'Compliment my OCs!" question. I know a lot of people find them dumb and obviously hate them but come one guys, most of you are saying you're not gonna revenge me or draw one of my dudes. The least you could do is give a half hearted 'yeah, I guess this guy has cool hair' and I'd be fine and dandy!

On a side note, if you put 'I don't revenge/I haven't looked at your OCs' in that required question, I do delete you off my hitlist >:( I get finding those questions annoying. But y'all, just don't fill out my hitlist if you ain't gonna even give the barest of efforts.

I do feel guilty about participating in the gross humor in the AF discord. I know that a lot of people get uncomfortble with them, but since everyone else is having fun I don't stop. I don't know why I am so desperate to be liked in the AF discord since it's very clear they don't really like me that much.

My friends are starting to all chat about artfight again... I participated for the first time last year and I really didn't enjoy a second of it. I got no attacks, no revenges, even if I tried to attack a few people. It drained me, both emotionally and physically, and I was constantly jealous of my own friends because they would show the cool art people would do for them. And I didn't even get any, even them, who said they would attack eachother in the friend group, just didn't do it to me. And it's just sad, and now I can't help but feel awful when they talk about artfight again. I know that this summer will be lonely again, the only moron in the friend group who doesn't participate because I was so miserable last year. Yea that's it, I just needed to get it off my chest. (I might add too that I cannot stand competition, and putting artists against each other is just a bad idea in general. If you are emotionally strong enough and popular enough then good for you but it's not the case for everyone)

does anyone know how quickly plagiarized characters are dealt with, if they’re handled at all? I found a character who’s literally the exact same as another popular OC, down to using the same reference sheet they made for the popular OC. nowhere on their page gives credit to or shows permission from the original artist.

(I know a drama blog isn’t the best place for this, but this is the only place for artfight discussion that isn’t the official discord that I know)

It stresses me out so much when people's character description and their art don't match (especially body type, but personality and other appearance details) When the description is like "DON'T DRAW HIM SKINNY!! Has a dad-bod. Very curly hair, don't whitewash him and draw it straight :( Very cheerful and outgoing don't draw him gloomy it makes me sad :(" and then the reference/their art of the character is. Some twinky emo guy with wavy hair. (exaggerated, it's usually just one or two at once) Like..... idk how I'm supposed to draw the character now. If i follow the description it doesn't look like their character anymore but if I follow the reference image I'm scared they'll be upset with how it looks-

does anyone remember that extremely bizarre suggestion made in the suggestions channel back when it was open where they suggested art fight had a convention and when the mods (understandably) rejected it they were like ‘well i could run an art fight con, itd be awesome since i dont have the money to go to an actual con’ ??????

imagine having the money to run a whole con but not to attend one... that's definitely how it works

ugh i'm so nervous for this year bc i'm reactivating some character profiles from years ago, and some of them have similar names/design elements as my mutuals' characters. i'm half expecting them to be mad at me for it even though my characters have had AF profiles years longer than theirs have, and a proveable history of their designs and names older than these people's entire art fight accounts. i hope they don't make a whole thing of it. i don't entirely trust one of them not to.

quick and friendly reminder to everyone on the blog that you should start your artfight prep before the season's about to start! it makes it less stressful for you when that happens and makes the beginning of artfight a much smoother and nicer time, atleast in my experience.. so go do those refs and check up your character rosters!

so to the people who don't like when a player doesn't make their own af refs... im thinking of having my refs be a combo of sims picrew and my own art bc i can't always correctly portray their body types and things, would that also be weird or no

Who cares what a very small handful of anons think, you should just do what you want. Sims and picrew refs can work fine, some people are willing to work with them.
