OH ARTHUR BENNETT.. such a gorgeous and intriguing character. terribly burdened by a GRUESOME set of crimes, his light suffocated by a HEAVY century of GUILT. so tragic, so dark and broody, and yet PAINFULLY awkward in any social setting ever
No clue when these take place. Maybe it was an anniversary road trip before Brooklynn’s “death” happened. Just wanted to draw the Camp Fam going to different museums I’ve been to. @campbenji
Museums referenced: Denver Museum of Nature and Science -> Sternberg Museum of Natural History -> Burke Museum (specifically them chilling at the Off The Rez Cafe inside, it has this really cool hangar door that opens)
This list of museums was almost longer but I really shouldn’t burn myself out so soon.
Timelapse undercut (The duration is about 9 mins since it’s all three in one. Feel free to skip around it):
Songs used in order: Evergreen by Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners -> With Me by Grand Pyres -> Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
Why these songs? Because they make me mentally flip through a photo album.
I once wrote a headcanon stating each of the Rise bois’ favourite musicals because let’s be real they live underneath Broadway and their dad is an actor of course they’re theatre kids…
If I remember correctly, I proposed that Raph’s fav was Hades Town, Mikey’s was Hamilton, and Leo’s was Wicked. I figured that Donnie’s fav was Be More Chill.
I am now altering that headcanon, I submit to you that Leo would enjoy In The Heights so much because of all the Spanish in that musical and if they love Lin-Manuel Miranda then OF COURSE Leo would love that musical. And I think that Donnie, though he does like Be More Chill, would absolutely ADORE Little Shop of Horrors.
(And no this has nothing to do with the fact that I recently became obsessed with the revamped musical with Jonathon Groff and Jeremy Jordan, what are you even talking about—)
I'm still thinking about that post about how female characters and especially wlw and f/f ships are treated in fandoms because I got a reply that I deleted on my post about how all the Nein were big shippers on deck for Beau and Yasha that boiled down to "haha Caleb making a tower so the useless lesbians would admit they liked each other!" and it's like. He made the tower to Beau's orders. She had already asked out Yasha, who in turn had of her own volition written Beau a phenomenal, beautiful letter instead of a poem as recommended by Jester. This is factually incorrect and obnoxiously dismissive of a genuinely great dynamic and attributes all agency to a man. When you say shit like this you sound like you are Chat GPT. No new thoughts no time actually spent analyzing a relationship dynamic just "ooh i see a woman in fiction what is the phrase most associated with this ok done onto the next task".
I woke up at 5:30 this morning and checked my phone to see that Jimmy Buffett passed away during the night. The news was surprisingly gutting, given that he was 76 and I haven't seen him in concert in probably 20 years (though not for lack of trying.) But I still listen to him all the time.
His was literally the music of my childhood. The first time I got in trouble at school was when my preschool teacher called my parents and told them I was singing about how I wanted "a smart woman in a real short skirt," and that was not appropriate for Lutheran preschool. Every vacation, Jimmy Buffett was playing on the tape deck or the CD player, a new album if there was one, old hits if there were not. When I got married, my father and I danced to Little Miss Magic, a song Jimmy wrote for his daughter around my age. Now I play his music for my own kid, who is old enough to be starting his own music collection (on vinyl!) and will sometimes pick up a Buffett album for me. I wish I'd had the chance to take him to a concert like my folks took me. They were a hell of a fun time.
His fame was a strange thing, he only had a handful of actual hits and they were somehow never his best songs, just the ones everybody knows. But he wrote so much good music that lives in the hearts and minds of his fans, and I am going to miss him just being in the world.
If you have a minute today, here's one of my favorite songs of his, and fitting for the day. It's worth a listen.
listen okay i hate babies ever after as much as anyone i hate the heteroification of gay couples i hate the 'destiel are jack's dads' dynamic i hate it all. however. i do think midam are the exception and hear me out i think theyre the exception because staying home raising kids and general housewifing would be an IDEAL outcome for michael. and i've said it before like the whole 'he can basically do whatever he was doing in heaven but on a smaller less destructive scale and he has someone who actually loves and supports him while doing so' thing would probably be good for him but i also think he'd be absolutely thrilled at. 'hehehe adam will go out and have a little job and earn little paychecks and i'll be here in our little house making little meals for our little kids' it's like playing dolls for him like he could go out and do whatever but no he wants to colour code their daughters' linen cabinets instead and make hidden veggie pasta sauce. it's so low stakes compared to what he had to think about before but also similar enough in terms of micromanage-yness that it's theraputic. michael's happily ever after is becoming one of those 'packing lunch for my 12 kids' people on tiktok except there's no thinly-veiled burnout or resentment because he only really holds resentment towards his dad's kids (i.e. the other angels) for existing. not adam's! it's also great for everyone else because he's nerfed beyond all measure and won't destroy the world because child three has a cello recital on friday and it'd make her sad if he blew the universe up before then
