Going Native was a Very Good episode, Although there were still some things I would have improved upon. I didn't really like that it was inaccurate to Hawaiian culture and full of hypocrisy, but I understood that was meant to be a joke. Besides, I was able to put it all aside when I got really invested in the Hawaiian-American war. Hawaii was subjected by America once, and knowing that let me take great pleasure in watching the Hawaiians fight back (I tried to ignore that they weren't actually native Hawaiians).
And while the end joke wasn't that great, I was still able to emphasize with Butters quite a lot, since I too can have an explosive temper. I also loved the jokes of Kenny's letters reading like an 1800s letter. In conclusion, I can see why people wouldn't like this episode, but I liked it nonetheless.

Loveeee the swap aus this is not a complaint!
It is an observation of what stirs in me when i see them. Sorta my purpose, my moral i learned from my source and carry into the system. Is not humanity necessarily or lack thereof in me being Irken. It is the idea that Dib loved his humanness and i loved how my Irken self responded to granting myself more human perspective. It was about, self acceptance, loving of the self and others, and empathy. Change. Growing.
Seeing these swaps, it seems to remove the very thing that created who i am to this day. However it just throws me another twist when i realize if i were to make something like that it would just mean i work even harder to make it make sense. A lot would be different, but thats when i remember how i already am so far from source.
And it hits me again. Change is the point.

I'm seeing variations of this meme around again, so to today's (un)lucky 10000:
the "inside you there are two wolves" meme is racist. full stop. it was invented by a Christian pastor in the late 70s and attributed to the Cherokee nation, despite being completely made up. every native american / indigenous page I've ever followed denounces it as made up and racist, using their imagery to sound mystical and wise while ignoring the people themselves.
please consider using another format. try to use your guilt productively: I'm not calling you out, this is aimed at educating. You can't erase not knowing in the past, but you can elect to 1) not reblog these in the future, 2) delete any that are easy to delete, 3) help to spread education by following native people's accounts and news so that you hear this from them, not me.

as an actual French person, let me tell you that Kit did a really good job with his lines in French? Obviously he still had an accent but it was FAR from the worst I've heard, and he was completely understandable (which is NOT a given even when actors try their best) and sounded quite natural? Honestly he sounded like someone who's been practicing their French for a lot longer than he actually has, so while he didn't sound like a native speaker I am SO PROUD of him because we all know he had a long way to go from "oui"

Hi! Can I ask you a question about France? How common or uncommon or weird is the use of coucou as a greeting? Especially between adults. Would it be super weird if I went to France and greeted someone like that?
I don't trust the click-baity articles that show up when I google this (I'm not even sure all of them were written by humans), so I'd rather ask someone that, you know, actually lives over there.
Thanks, have a nice day
Hi! Coucou is a pretty common greeting including between adults (though it's more often used by women as it does sound a bit cutesy), but I think it implies pre-established friendly relations, unlike the neutral Bonjour or Salut. I only use it with family and friends. Friendly acquaintances too—okay now that I think about it, it's hard to say where I draw the coucou line. I use it as a greeting when I enter the library if there's no one in there but the librarian because I know her well, but if there are other people in the room I say bonjour even if they're children. And of course if I knew the librarian very well but didn't like her she wouldn't get a coucou. You kind of have to follow your heart with this greeting.
But definitely don't use it to greet people in a shop or formal context or anyone you don't know well because that would be weird (in my view!) Coucou sounds affectionate, I often use it in writing to set the tone ("Hi I am an informal unthreatening email !") (also if a French person sends you a text that starts with Cc, that's textspeak for coucou)
To me "Salut !" is "Hi!" while "Coucou" is Hi :) <3
