A Hyrulean Morning Tea Ritual
Tumblr media
Photo source could not be found.
Tea is an important part of the day for many of us. Coffee is best for others!
While a tea set similar to the one in this photo is best for the ritual aspect, not everyone wants to do a full tea session in the morning. In that case, a mug and infuser are great options!
Tumblr media
Photo taken by me
This particular infuser was a Christmas gift from a dear friend. I like this one quite a bit because it also has a crystal on the end of the chain. And there lies the beginning of this ritual:
Start by filling the infuser with your favorite tea the night before. If your infuser also has a crystal, you can charge it with energies and intentions. This can be done without the crystal as well but it’s easier with the crystal.
At that point, leave the tea out in your altar as an offering to your preferred deity. In my case, this is Goddess Hylia. Pray, dedicate the tea, and then brew it in the morning.
Enjoy the tea at your altar with your deity and let the blessings flow!
I have plans for many more tea related blogs and how tea can be used in our practices!
May the Goddess Smile Upon You,
-Florian Knight

Don't get me wrong. Tears of the Kingdom is a fantastic game. I'm still having so much fun with it. It delivered on so many fronts. It has my favorite final boss in the series. And the new mechanics really do make BotW feel like a tech demo.
But.
My Big Complaint is: TotK should not have been a sequel to BotW.
(spoilers below the cut!)
I understand why they did it, and think it was inevitable. Getting to reuse the assets and maps saved so much time. And BotW was such a huge success that they couldn't not give it a sequel.
But seriously, what the heck?
TotK's storytelling basically ignored or erased everything that happened in BotW. What happened to the Sheikah tech that was literally everywhere? The Divine Beasts that had been plaguing the four regions for a century? Zelda's incorporeal battle with evil incarnate for 100 years and the inevitable trauma she and Link must have after everything that's happened to them? Nah we don't talk about that. Half the NPCs don't even know who Link is despite having plenty of canonical interactions.
And I'm like, ok, I get it, sure. We are so 100% into this new plot we don't have time to explain away the old stuff and I'll just have to deal with it. All right, sure! BotW had very cool and well crafted lore, I'm sure TotK will too! I can't wait for this airtight new story!
Except 🤨
Who are the Zonai actually? Why did they come to Hyrule and from where? Why do we only meet two of them? If Rauru and Sonia are the first of the Royal Family, is she part of the goddess' bloodline (a direct descendant of SS Zelda)? Did she die childless? If they had a child, was it distinctly half Zonai? SO MANY GANONDORF QUESTIONS I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START??!?! What's the deal with the secret stones anyway? Who made them? Why do they cause draconification? Is that what happened to Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra? The Sheikah Shrines were trials left behind by devoted monks who underwent self mummification to train the Hero, but what's the deal with the Zonai ones again? And if they're supposed to be for Link too, when did Rauru have time to build them? And like the Depths?! Make zero sense??!
I could go on and on. As much fun as this game is and as cinematic as a lot of it was, the whole thing is riddled with holes and would've been SO MUCH BETTER if they just made it its own pocket universe like they did with Termina. Trying to have it make sense in the world BotW already established is impossible, and honestly just sort of like. Disrespectfully shoves BotW's dead body off a cliff and hopes no one finds the remains.
So, yeah! Great game! Beefy cutscenes! Fantastic ending! Awesome mechanics! But really really disappointing BotW erasure.
(I also feel like it suffered from trying to follow the same open world formula? Lots of people found the Tears in the wrong order and felt like they spoiled the story for themselves. And the way you were going around doing "search for Zelda" sidequests when you knew where she was but couldn't tell anyone seemed like an oversight. And I wouldn't have minded some more traditional dungeons, like what the Fire and Lightning temples had going on, but just, like. More.)

All the craziest and greatest headcanons always come to mind around 2/3 am lmao
What if the different incarnations of Link can't talk because they are still paying for something the first Hero did?
Today I was studying some Greek mythology, and noticed that the gods tend to be... Quite vengeful.
Imagine if the Chosen Hero tried to retort and Farore or Hylia casually cursed him and his descendants, so now every Link has a different reason for not talking so he can't retort and just follow his destiny as the Goddesses wanted.

Prayer and meditation are powerful tools. I have shared a few prayers here and I will certainly share more. However, often times in the moment we may not be able to meditate or focus on a prayer. This is when a mantra can help. They are also great for chanting during devotion.
Today while talking with @knightofhylia about prayers and mantras, I came to the mantra that follows:
“I bathe in the Light of Goddess Hylia.”
I hope that this mantra may help you in the future.
May the Goddess Smile Upon You

I've always wanted to make my own designs for the Golden Goddesses, so the Zonai being revealed as gods in TotK gave me the perfect opportunity to draw them as Zonai!

And I crawl out of whatever hole I crawled into to add more to the designs I did of the golden goddesses from that one linktober prompt. Because for some ungodly reason they had wormed their way back into my brain and I kinda wanted to make them into some actual characters... And ya know what I got a very rough design for Hylia too! Woo bonus points!

Hylia was created as the caretaker for the land that became Hyrule, but everything in Hyrule (and presumably the rest of the world, but maybe not) was made by cooperation between the Three Golden Goddesses, Nayru, Din, and Farore. The triforce is basically a phone line so that continued edits can be made, because Nayru, Din, and Farore are not ‘active in the community’ anymore. They have mods for that (Hylia. Maybe the dragons. You know.)
So even though they aren’t AROUND being goddesses anymore, they still shape their follower’s understanding of the world and themselves, and they are understood in relation to each other.
Din is earth, not fire--the rock that flows, the pressure that cooks. Din is both the structure and the shaping. Din is the immovable object.
Farore is wind/air/smoke, no fire without breath. Farore is the freedom and the chaos. Farore is the unstoppable force. Nayru is the water, ice, steam. Nayru is the changing of state, the stream that divides mountains. The drops that build caves. Nayru smoothes the unmovable object. Nayru dodges the unstoppable force.
Like everything else, people are made of parts of each. Most people are a well-blended mix and most things can be accounted by nurture, but some people are ‘ruled’ by one aspect over another, and it is difficult for them to go against this divine nature.
Tumblr media
When you think of people ruled by Din, it is common to think of a Gerudo, but this is largely a coincidence: the Gerudo lean towards Din most strongly because Din aligns well with their cultural values. The ideal Gerudo is firm of opinion and diligent in their routines, and whether you like someone matters less than if you can trust them to be consistent.
Those ruled by Din are meticulous and and care deeply about purpose and intent, holding themselves and others to a high standard. They are straight-forward and disinclined to subterfuge or passive-aggression, which can be intimidating, but those ruled by Din are unlikely consider it ‘their problem’ that you’re intimated by them. Unfortunately, people ruled by Din can also struggle with letting go of entrenched opinions or be slow to adapt to new situations, even if the need is dire. They hold onto false convictions just as strongly as true ones, and do not tolerate arguments well. They are reserved but stalwart and unyielding in their loyalties: if you become a friend of Din’s, no time or distance will sever that bond.
Tumblr media
It’s tempting to call Farore and Din ‘opposites,’ but there are lots of overlap. Those ruled by Farore are also terrible to have an argument with, because those ruled by Farore are not especially concerned about the values of others: they will do what they will do, and sometimes that is beneficial to others, and sometimes it is not. Also like Din, they have very ‘direct’ personalities: if a plan has more than two variables, those ruled by Farore believe it is unnecessarily complicated.
Those ruled by Farore are adaptable and take in new information easily, but may skim over the minutiae, and so should not be entrusted with anything detail-oriented unless it is certain they will not be interrupted until they are done. People ruled by Farore seek out new sights and experiences with a wanderlust that can be exciting and infectious to those around them. They are always ready to try new things with a fearlessness that borders foolhardy. They will breeze through a place barely touching anything, or uproot their whole life in a hurricane of activity, with little warning which is about to occur. They are presumed to also be promiscuous, likely as part of Farore’s role as the main fertility goddess of the trio, or as part of their ‘try anything once’ personality, but this is more a cultural assumption than anything. However, to have one ruled by Farore settle down for a family is said to be like catching lightning in a bottle.
Tumblr media
It is uncommon to say someone is ruled by Nayru, because where Nayru is not invisible like the wind, she takes many forms, and so can be very subtle. Their changeable nature can appear to be a regular person who like everyone else changes and grows over time. Those ruled by Nayru are affected by all things, and affect all things in turn. While someone ruled by Farore may sweep through a town and change everyone’s life without noticing, those ruled by Nayru will find themselves changed too. They may seem flighty and indecisive, but this is because they are trying out every option to decide things for themselves. In some ways, this makes those ruled by Nayru as methodical and straight-forward as Din, as once they have become entrenched in their ways, Nayru is as unyielding as the tide.
Despite the stereotypes as being intellectual, those ruled by Nayru are not any less likely to bend the truth as anyone else when they are swept up in their convictions. They may prefer subterfuge or avoidance to direct confrontation when a problem arises, but the defining trait of one ruled by Nayru isn’t avoidance, or subterfuge, but that they care very deeply about the people opinion of others, which may be part of what drives them to avoidance and subterfuge in the first place.

Full Moons of Farore
There are so many things one can do on the full moon, but I choose to use the time to connect in a more formal capacity to Hylia, the Golden Goddesses, and the natural world around me. I have chosen names for each of the full moons that would make sense within a Hyrulean context; each of the goddess seasons has at least four. The full moons of the Season of Farore are:
March: Moon of Courage
March 1 is the first day of the Season of Farore, so it is fitting that the first full moon of her season be dedicated to contemplating her power specifically. In what ways can you show courage across the next few months on a larger scale than what you might in your day-to-day?
April: Moon of Wind
April is rainy, yes, but it also just incredibly windy as the weather shifts from still-wintery to spring. On this full moon, consider what bad habits, negative juju, or anything else holding you back can be blown away with the breeze, and what new opportunities you would like to have propelled your way.
May: Moon of Forest
Where I live, spring is not truly sprung until May hits, so this full moon is a wonderful time to simply drink in the leaves fully unfurled on the trees, the finally-warmer evenings to be enjoyed outdoors, and the much longer periods of daylight. On this full moon, sit and connect with a tree or plant and meditate for guidance from the Deku Tree or Kikwi Elder.
June: Moon of Honey
I absolutely love bees, so a full moon to honor them is a must. In-game of course the hornets and honeybees are rather antagonistic, but bees and their honey have been associated with the divine since antiquity. Their importance to the agricultural cycles around the globe cannot be understated, so take time on this full moon to honor these hard-working ladies who literally keep us fed and plant species propagating.
