—✩ My take on the connection between Alma and Yomi!

Okay. I’ve seen some stuff about people thinking that Yomi is Alma’s father, but I think they have an entirely different connection which is that Yomi is the one who turned Alma half-maga.

First off, unlike other maga we’ve seen (Utsu, Yoru, Kanata, etc), Alma is the only one whose ‘power’ is linked/attached to a physical object (the stake in his chest) that needs to be removed in order for him to actually use his maga blood. 

When Yomi appears in chapter eight he is able to manipulate the stake without even touching it, pulling it out of Alma’s chest and sending him into the frenzy we see in chapter nine. When Yomi reaches out towards Alma, I believe Alma reacts to the wedding ring on Yomi’s finger. It’s a short-lived reaction, as he’s distracted afterwards by the stake being removed from his chest, but Alma’s reaction could be interpreted as showing a sense of familiarity - he doesn’t remember why he recognises the ring, but he knows he has seen it before. 

The reason Yomi is able to control the stake could be because he is the one who put it there in the first place and is the one who changed Alma from a human to a half-maga. That's why Alma has that sense of familiarity and why Yomi has been watching over Alma. The comment on Alma being in his rebellious phase would also make sense, however instead of it being from a Father to his Son, it's from a Creator to his Creation.

Something that furthers this theory is Alma’s frenzy. Tao’s reaction to his frenzied/maga state indicates that she has seen him in such a state before. If he was turned into a maga instead of being born as one, he might’ve had problems with controlling himself and ended up handing off control to Tao after she took him in. Yomi immediately sending him into that frenzied state again by simply pulling out the stake could show that he has complete control over the maga part of Alma and fits with the theory that he created the stake/is the one who turned Alma half-maga.

This theory does sort of branch off into other ideas that I'll go into in other posts (I might also do a part two with possible reasons for why Yomi would've turned Alma half-maga) but the main idea of this theory is that Yomi isn’t Alma’s father, but his ‘creator.’ If you have any thoughts, feel free to comment or send an ask :)

yoru / jin - hc-did system. he/it/questioning pronouns. afab, transmasc bodily. bpdtism, hypersexual. blind in one eye, insomnia. chews on most things, usually his clothes. i am a FIRM jin did system believer so if you're ableist or fakeclaiming that ermm block me thanks <3

—✩ A look into Yomi's power!

Hear me out y'all. When looking at the current cast of antagonists in gkkg (I'll be referring to them as the family), all of them have some sort of ability - for an example, look at Utsu and Yoru - but out of the three antagonists we've properly met, Yomi's power is the only one that hasn't been confirmed. We know that Yomi can remove the karmic stake without touching it, which at the very least shows a psychokinesis ability or something along the lines of that. I think Yomi's show of power when removing Alma's stake was just the tip of the iceberg, and his power's a lot more dangerous than just a psychokinetic ability.

It's entirely possible that Yomi's power is actually the ability to create maga. Think about it like this - a big part of Yomi's character is control. He manipulates others to do dirty work for him and he is the authoritative figure/leader in the family. He also is completely in control of himself, always speaking in a calm/mannered tone. If control plays such a large part in Yomi and his personality/character design, it'd make sense for his power to be creating maga as it would give him a physical representation/output of that control and really sets him in place as an extremely dangerous character. Yomi’s character also seems like the type to view himself as on the same level as a God (Always shown as ‘pure,’ doesn’t do dirty work - always manipulating the situation behind the scenes. He also looks down on others, e.g "You couldn't even become a pawn."), and the power to create maga could’ve been the origin of that god complex/the reasoning behind his controlling nature. 

When Yomi leaves in chapter nine he states that he is "the place where the lives of this world return and the place where lives of this world are born." If Yomi has the ability to create and/or control maga, this quote would play really well into hinting at that power. The place where the lives of this world return - he brings the dead back to life and turn them into maga, therefore 'returning them' - and the place where the lives of this world are born - this is either a play on the idea that people he turns into maga are 'born again' or him basically referring to himself as God ("He is the place where lives return and are born").

In chapter four Yoru turns a lady into a maga by forcing a pill down her throat - we've already seen Alma's blood being extracted to use for Tao's weapon, what if it's the same for Yomi? It also adds to the idea that he was the one who turned Alma half-maga - unlike Utsu and Yoru, his power might only be triggered when his blood is ingested by the person or an object he imbues with his power is embedded into someone. (I have a theory that goes more into depth about Yomi and Alma's connection here!)
