The episode was nice. I really liked the dynamic of it. 

Not enough of Luna’s scenes of course. 

This I love you drama was too farfetched. 

And Mr Lott didn’t deserve that.

also me: keeps thinking about how the bar scene in 4x04 is actually a pretty decent parallel to the 2x09 kiss <-- OK and then you just like drop that and walk away? Please say more!

Well twist my arm lol.  (Thank you for taking my bait and asking ❤️❤️)

So I suppose the parallel that I see between the 4x04 bar scene and the 2x09 bar/kiss scene is rooted in the idea that for Rio these moments are the beginning of something new (a transition at least) and for Beth these moments are endings.

I’ve talked about 2x09 a bit in the past, but for me that scene is very much two different narratives.  Rio seeing it as Beth finally deciding to take a step forward with their partnership and adding some form of a romantic attachment between them.  It’s the beginning of something between them, something that he’s clearly been interested in but was letting her decide if and when.  But Beth sees this scene as an ending.  It’s her letting herself give into what she wants most, Rio and crime by association, one last time before going back to the life that ‘sucks out her soul’.  It’s the end of them.

Flash forward to 4x04 and a different bar, but a similar situation between Beth and Rio.  

Now I don’t view this interaction as romantic, like in 2x09, but again we fall into Rio seeing this as a beginning and Beth as an ending.  

For Rio this is Beth finally acknowledging that she isn’t happy behind her ‘good mom/person’ act and this is her admitting that she wants to fully be in crime.  This is Beth telling him that she wants to keep working for him (because there’s no partnership now).  And sure on some level this is also Beth letting him know that she doesn’t want anything to happen to him.

But this is Beth telling Rio that she is all in and that she seemingly won’t fight him anymore.  This is Rio getting a new start at the printing business with Beth and a future that doesn’t include prison.  It’s a new beginning.

Only for Beth this is an ending.  This is the end of Fitzpatrick and the end of Rio’s involvement in her life.  This is her giving up a life she does enjoy (crime) to be a good mother/person again and having to live with making cookies and carpool again.  This scene is Beth setting up the end between them.

Now the question is will this situation lead to another crime proposal or another shooting?
