i feel like one of the biggest things the mdzs fandom tends to forget is that lan wangji is silly

like yes he's stoic and jade faced and perfect but he also:

blushes SO often

loves bunnies and anything related to them

throws little tantrums when he's away from his husband for too long

gets flustered easily

is a MENACE when drunk

messes around with his husband

buried his son in a bunny pile

is a biter

so yes, whilst hanguang-jun is a big scary warlord, lan wangji is just a silly guy who likes bunnies and messing around with his husband :3

i just realised that one of the main reasons jin zixuan was so socially awkward as a teen was because of all the sect heirs he was the only one who was an only child

like you had the nie siblings, the wen siblings, the twin prides of yunmeng jiang, the twin jades of gusulan.. and jin zixuan

other than mianmian, he didn't really have anyone his age close to him in his sect to talk to, and he didnt know of his relations to meng yao until later, so it makes so much sense that he was a bit of a sour prick when he was a teen

in the mdzs donghua they say there's 1 month between the burning of the cloud reccesses and the wen indoctrination which means lan zhans leg was left broken unhealed for a full month, and even after that he still refused wei yings help and i think that says so much about his character actually

recently i rewatched the pjo movies just to cringe one last time b4 the series came out, and one of the biggest issues i had with them was that some parts of them just felt too.. sexual? in a way?

like throughout all of tlt there are constant innuendos and jokes, and pretty much all of them are centred around grover. i.e him making jokes ab the nymphs, him flirting with the girls in the camp, him playing around with the girls in the casino, that whole weirdly suggestive thing of him with persephone, and just so many other moments.

i guess this works with how satyrs are portrayed in ancient greek mythology, but for grover? it just doesnt feel right. like these movies are of pjo, everyone's comfort childhood story, and the constant sexual jokes just make it feel uncomfortable and so much more disconnected from the actual story.

maybe im overthinking this or maybe not, but i wanna hear what others have to say on this! :]

'i don't wish to be stained by dust'

or; the burning of the cloud reccesses in the pov of lan xichen

The sound of the roaring flames and screams of injured disciples was deafening, the usual tranquillity of the Cloud Recesses entirely shattered by the rampage of red-clad soldiers brutally burning their way through.

For the first time since he was a child, Xichen was finding it hard to focus within the wards of his own home. The sounds of the slaughter constantly attacked his train of thought as he rushed to fill his qiankun pouches with as many sacred texts as possible and escape; time was ticking, after all, the Wens couldn't be more than a minute's walk away.

And yet Xichen struggled. Struggled to choose between his sect, his people, or his family. In the midst of the chaos around him, the First Jade wanted nothing more than to find Wangji, find his younger brother, and get him somewhere safe.

The few disciples helping him broke him out of his mind through announcing that they had gathered as many sacred and ancient texts as they could, and the small group began to move, sneaking their way around the back of the library pavilion and heading towards the back of the mountain.

Xichen led the group through the carnage, avoiding engaging in combat as much as possible.

Just as they were nearing the path leading to the forests behind the central area of the Cloud Recesses, a sadistic laugh cut through the noise of the destruction, and Xichen's heart jumped straight into his throat.

There, on his knees and surrounded by Wens, was Wangji, was his A-Zhan, his didi.

From where he was hiding in the trees, Xichen couldn't make out how exactly his brother had been hurt, but from Wangji's clenched fists and crumpled, trembling figure, he could tell that it was bad.

As the Wens drew closer and dragged the Second Jade to his feet, Xichen nearly screamed, 3000 rules be damned. He knew how much the younger hated touching, knew how Wangji would tense when anyone other than himself or Shufu would get closer than an arm's length in distance to him.

And so seeing the harsh hands dragging him, forcing him to his feet and to follow them was mortifying.

It only seemed to worsen as the man who Xichen assumed to be Wen Xu pulled out a long length of core-binding rope and ordered his men to tie Wangji's arms with it.

If it weren't for the disciples holding him back, Xichen would've attacked the Wen heir right there and then. However the disciples were there, and so with teary and fearful eyes Xichen teared himself away from the scene and led his small group to safety, praying that Wangji will come out of this alive.
