Hamilton-Centre MPP Sarah Jama has been censured over her comments about the Israel-Gaza war on the same day that she was removed from the Ontario NDP caucus.

On Monday, the Doug Ford government voted in favour of a motion that not only acts as a formal disapproval of the Hamilton-Centre MPP’s statements, but also prevents the Speaker from recognizing her until a formal apology is made and the social media post is deleted.

The motion passed 63-23, with the NDP voting against the censure.

In a statement, NDP Leader Marit Stiles said the motion is “undemocratic” and said the Progressive Conservatives have “disenfranchised the voters of Hamilton Centre.”

“This extreme motion has barred a member from participating in the Legislature just six months after she were elected. It sets a dangerous precedent.” [...]

Our culture doesn't understand genocide denial well. Genocide denial isn't just people openly saying something didn't happen. It's a way of thinking that attempts to take away a group's right to existence.

Genocide denial is arguing about weather a culture did something wrong when you talk about atrocities agaisnt them.

Genocide denial is talking about the practicalities or safety risks of a group's existence.

Genocide denial is removing the idea that someone from a group is able to be a civilian.

Genocide denial is denying that a group under threat or that has been a victim of atrocities even is a distinct group.

Genocide denial is denying that atrocities are from a systemic source and instead blaming them on individuals.

Genocide denial is comparing one genocide to another to make it seem lesser.

Genocide denial on its most fundamental level is the denial that a group can be or has been a victim of genocide. It is the same action fundamentally as genocide defense, no distinction can be made.

Not every genocide denier is going to look like a neonazi but every one of them is thinking like one. You aren't immune to these thought patterns, check yourself and your freinds.

What does tankie mean?

Marxist-Leninists. When Soviet Russia sent tanks into Hungary to crush the uprising there in 1956, a significant pro-Stalin communist faction sided with the Soviet government. Tankie therefore means Marxists that side with totalitarian governments like the Communist Party of China, Russia even under Putin, and North Korea (tf is the communism even?). They think just because the US is a shitty imperialist, all the human rights abuses and fascism of communist governments throughout history is propaganda manufactured by the US government, that Hannah Arendt who coined the term "totalitarianism" was a neoliberal shill, that genocides from Holodomor to the Cambodian killing fields to the Uyghurs are hoaxes. They call any Global South uprisings against socialist and communist governments "colour revolutions" funded by the US, swallow Putin's line that he's trying to invade Ukraine for legitimate reasons, that Ukraine is full of Nazis and the war is only going on this long because NATO is deliberately prolonging it as a proxy war against Russia (that's not what proxy war even means). The motherfuckers actually cheered when Putin attacked Ukraine, not unlike the Israelis watching the IOF. Pretty sure they even support Assad, possibly an even greater monster than Netanyahu, because he's Putin's ally against the US.

Basically they think the world revolves around the US, will subject people to terrible harrassment when their victimization by fascist governments is inconvenient for their narrative, and jump on any Global South trauma they can use like white on rice. They're currently exploiting the fuck out of Palestine for clout and speaking over actual Palestinians instead of boosting them. They're the scum of the earth and the white and western userbase on this site won't take them seriously because their main targets are Global South people, same as they didn't care about Zionists until now.

There are growing calls for Quesnel Mayor Ron Paull to resign after revelations his wife has been handing out a book that, according to promotional material from its publisher, questions whether residential schools were fundamentally harmful to Indigenous communities and people who attended them.

More than 200 people marched outside city hall Tuesday evening before packing into an emotionally charged council meeting in the city of roughly 23,000 people, located in B.C.'s Cariboo region about 400 kilometres north of Vancouver.

"We can no longer work with this mayor and we will not work with the City of Quesnel until [the] issue has been resolved," said Lhtako Dene Chief Clifford Lebrun. 

"We can't have a community that hands out hate literature and expect people to listen to us and to take it seriously."

The meeting also heard from the mayor's wife, Pat Morton, and one of the authors featured in the book who had travelled to Quesnel to speak to council. [...]
