"PERFECT FOR THE BOHEMIAN INSPIRED LIVING ROOM, BEDROOM, OR DEN."
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a vintage Gabbeh rug, "Gabbeh Rug No. 1," by Forsyth Art, Saint Louis. Dimensions 60x82 inches.
OVERVIEW: "We collected this beautiful vintage gabbeh rug for its cozy, cool feel. Perfect for the bohemian inspired living room, bedroom, or den. A gabbeh rug is traditionally a sleeping rug. The pile is thick and cozy and hand-spun and woven of 100% sheep's wool. These rugs are popular among the populations of the Zagros Mountains of Iran, including Kurdish, Luri, and Qashqai people. The gabbeh is usually woven by women. The word “gabbeh” comes from the Persian گبه, meaning raw, natural, uncut."
Safe (1995, dir. Todd Haynes): Suburbia is hell and in distancing ourselves from nature and sterilizing our surroundings we open ourselves up to new maladies. Incredibly affecting movie, Julianne Moore is perfect in this role.
Gabbeh (1996, dir. Mohsen Makhmalbaf): I love a good story about storytelling. The visuals are truly mesmerizing.
What Time Is It There? (2001, Tsai Ming-liang): God, I'm lonely.
Hero (2002, dir. Zhang Yimou): Speaking of mesmerizing visuals and good stories about storytelling! Is this particularly emotionally complex? Does it need to be when it looks this good?
A Touch of Sin (2013, dir. Jia Zhangke): Do you understand your sin?
The Housemaid (1960, dir. Kim Ki-young): Most unhinged performance from the titular housemaid, most pathetic male lead since A Place in the Sun, most bizarre ending. This movie is just the most.
The Wind Will Carry Us (1999, dir. Abbas Kiarostami): This is probably my least favorite of Kiarostami's films I've seen but there's still plenty here to love. That scene of the girl milking the cow touched something deep within me.
🍂🍂🍂 Sitting beneath a bare tree I picked up its broken limb, I held its ghost to my lips. And all at once I smelled the ash of winter and the flame of spring. C.
