And here is an overview of the game, via its official website:
About
The vast ocean sings to me. I must go and conquer it! Our last summer at Seisho Music Academy… With the 101st Seisho Festival “Starlight” coming up, we the students of the 99th class take up the challenge to perform “El Dorado,” an oceanic epic that Japan is proud of, for our summer performance. The exiled admiral, Salvatore Guglie. The heir to a royal Spanish family, Alejandro Javier Cavallero Cruz. Who will “we” choose… between the “two protagonists” of this story?
Characters
Karen Aijo – “No matter what waters I have to cross, I will… definitely reach you!” A Stage Girl who traded fates with her childhood friend Hikari to “stand on that stage together someday,” after being entranced by the stage play “Starlight” she watched as a child. She gave her all in performing “Starlight” with Hikari, and now begins to walk towards the “next stage” by herself.
Hikari Kagura – “I don’t need destiny or oaths anymore!” A Stage Girl who has loved stage plays since she was a child, and was led into the world of stage plays after watching “Starlight” with Karen. After performing the “fated stage play” with Karen, she has currently returned to studying at London’s Royal Institute of Dramatic Arts. She is striving towards becoming a stage actress while dreaming of the day she reunites with Karen on the stage.
Maya Tendo – “May my revenge shine beautifully as my fuel.” She is the top student at Seisho Music Academy. A thoroughbred, with both parents being prominent figures in the world of theater. Despite overflowing talent in acting, singing, and dancing, she is a proudly independent Stage Girl who has never become conceited and continues to aim to be the best. Aiming to join the New National First Theater Troupe, she imposes strict lessons on herself even today. Maya-sama continues to be Maya-sama even in her third year.
Junna Hoshimi – “I myself emit glimmering lights… A lighthouse star on the Evening Star!” A Stage Girl who keeps taking on stage plays with her vast amount of reading and solid knowledge, she is the most talented girl since the inception of Seisho Music Academy. She was once desperate to catch up with the frontrunners of the scene, but now aims to be a “dazzling protagonist” and sets her eyes far ahead in her own future. She is the former 99th Student Council President of Seisho Music Academy.
Mahiru Tsuyuzaki – “I will decide my own drama… burning myself like the Sun!” Karen and Hikari’s roommate. She is a cheerful Stage Girl with a vast range of expressiveness, and is looked up to by her juniors, but can get extraordinarily scary when angered. She gave Hikari a push of motivation and sent her on her way to share the fated stage play with Karen. She aims to join the New National First Theater Troupe, in order to become a Star who brings smiles to everyone.
Nana Daiba – “I’ll… go slicing for a bit.” She is Junna’s roommate, and at the same time, a Stage Girl with extraordinary talent in both performing and stage creation. She often has the chance to bake together with Mahiru, and she is affectionately nicknamed “Banana.” She loves everyone who helps to create the stage together, and that is the reason why she sometimes shows a ruthless side.
Claudine Saijo – “Thanks to you and my unjustified resentment!” She is a former child actress who has starred in numerous stage plays and movies from a young age. A pure-hearted and highly experienced Stage Girl who knows the ropes of a stage play. Although she honed her skills against Maya as her greatest rival, she returned to her roots in France after graduation and is slated to join a revue in Paris.
Futaba Isurugi – “I don’t want to see a version of you who’s good-mannered and runs neatly!” Unmatched when it comes to sword fights and action. She is a Stage Girl with great expressive power hidden in her small frame. She and Kaoruko have been stuck together since young. They both enrolled in the same school, and she drives them both to and from school on her motorbike. However, she has decided to walk her own path by accepting the challenge of the New National First Theater Troupe, and has entrusted her beloved bike to Kaoruko.
Kaoruko Hanayagi – “A competitive performance between the top stars of the Senka-ryu School and New National… I’d like such a stage play, someday.” The granddaughter of the head of the family that runs the Senka-ryu School of Japanese Dance. After graduation, she returned to Kyoto. She is a Stage Girl who lives a life of history and traditions, and will succeed the name of the 12th Head of Family, “Suisen Hanayagi.” After a huge quarrel, she accepts Futaba’s chosen path and sends her on her way. She is currently considering what to do with the motorbike that Futaba left behind with her, while grumbling that it is “a bother.”
Kiriko Masai and Shion Amemiya – “We are from the Stage Play Creation Program, in 99th Class Group B!” “In order to create an even stronger, even better Position Zero, become even greedier!” From the 99th Class Group B Stage Play Creation Program. Amemiya writes scripts with all her body and soul, while Masai flutters around controlling the stage. The two are also roommates. They stand at the forefront of Group B, having worked on many of the 99th Class’s stage plays, taking on hardships even while clashing and arguing. Before their final summer in the exchange program, they challenge making a stage play with a certain resolve in their hearts.
Judy Knightley – “If you seek a new universe… tear apart your wailing, and overcome the sea of blood!” A Stage Girl who boasts having top grades at London’s Royal Institute of Dramatic Arts, a school that is renowned for being the hardest in the world to get into. With outstanding acting skills and expressiveness that has been lauded even in the British theater world, she is a professional stage actress with a promising future. She has arrived at Seisho Music Academy for an exchange program, and stands in the way of the students in the 99th Class with her overwhelming brilliance.

There have been so many #isekai stories in recent years that they have become commonplace, but how about a #visualnovel focused around a military protagonist in a #fantasy realm? Read our review of Frontwing's take on an isekai story, Hatsumira -from the future undying- to see what we think.

steam is having a visual novel sale. do you recommend anything?
Subahibi (listed as Wonderful Everyday Down the Rabbit-Hole) is worth picking up, but you'll want to patch it with the Frontwing Steam Patch from JAST for that, along with the full voice patch to get the best experience
Totono (listed as YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story) is on sale, but because of how JAST handles steam games, you'll need to buy the patch off their site afterwards
why? because JAST's modern policy is that censored steam releases are discounted by default to accommodate the removed content (on its face this is a consumer-side policy, but I have a suspicion this is also a way to skirt steam's modern anti-uncensoring-patch policies)
similar situation with DRAMAtical Murder, Togainu no Chi, Saya no Uta (Song of Saya), and sweet pool
for stuff with less setup and introduction needed, there's Steins;Gate, VA-11 Hall-A, Baldr Sky, Kindred Spirits on the Roof, Heaven Will Be Mine, Hatoful Boyfriend, Corpse Party, and the Muv-Luv games (despite all my complaining I can't argue that this isn't a good price for it)
also Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk is so heavily discounted right now that it's insulting not to buy it

it would be interesting to see ocon's onboard and what happened after the incident and in the box, because it's been ages since esteban was this openly critical of the team in a post session interview and if he is right, that's a big mistake from alpine.
yes, the crash happened at the worst time, but with a quick frontwing change and a fast (probably rushed) outlap, he could have got another lap in. if they were checking for damage or something, that's obviously different, but if it was truly just the wing not being ready...
edit: after watching the onboard and listening to his radio, i have to say esteban's frustration is totally understandable. obviously the crash was his fault, but alpine handled the situation badly, what happened in the box was really messy. alpine needs to clean up their trackside operation.
thanks for @macaiv for the onboard and here you can listen to the radio too.

The Mercedes W15 is silver AND black
Tumblr media
One of the two new cars from yesterday is the Mercedes W15. The most obvious is the mix of the two different Mercedes liveries of the last years, with the nose being silver and the back half and the frontwing being black (looks nice I think). Toto Wolff says that every almost part of the car is different than last year. The rear suspension is, exactly like the Aston Martin one, who use the same as Mercedes, now also a push-rod and not a pull-rod anymore, making it easier to control the airflow at the back. Also the front wing looks very interesting.
Tumblr media
Will the W15 bring Mercedes back to the top? Maybe we'll be able to assess it in just over a week, when the official tests in Bahrain are over.

Subarashiki Hibi is probably a testamount example of perhaps translating something "too intensely" per se from japanese to english. In video games, the first one or two Yakuza or Like a Dragon games were an example of this at an attempt at edgy localization that no one can take seriously nowadays with or without the context of the newer game translations. With Subarashiki Hibi it's a bit less of an extreme example of goofy ass localization but a translation issue nonetheless. The way they use the word "retard" or "retarded" instead of any other less demeaning word or the way they translate "otokonoko" and perhaps other words I'd argue even inappropriately in terms of context as the word "faggot" quite firmly reminds you that the game was translated and ultimately released in the year 2011 (translation as a whole probably took more than a year or so from the fan translation to the Frontwing transition).
These words did not have to be translated so intensely and offensively, let alone for what seems to be every single time at least for what seems to be the case with the f slur. Hell, even the word "queer" at times used derogatorily would have been better than giving the nameless npcs at the bar the literal name or title card "Faggot" that I feel can't be fully attributed to the main character's homophobia so much as the crass and careless translation decisions of the translators. It goes outside of one of the main character's rudeness and homophobia when others do it and can be found in both the fan translated portions as well as likely the Frontwing translated portions from what I've heard (I haven't gotten to those parts yet I think, I'm not sure). Think I heard someone blame Frontwing for this but if one checks the credits, this was an issue even before they got a hold of it and started translating the rest.
All and all its just blatantly edgy and disrespectful and needless in execution that bogs the work down to a time period in a negative sense when it really didn't have to be, such is the case with these "of the time" localizations from goofy pop culture references in early Final Fantasy games to edgy ass bullshit trying to be GTA in early Yakuza games to needlessly and carelessly thrown around words in Subarashiki Hibi. It's all and all clown shit.

vro0m’s rewatch - 143/310
2014 Singapore GP
I don't have the build up for this one, sorry. Straight to the race.
Alonso is 5th. Seb is 4th. Daniel is 3rd. Unsurprising Mercedes front row lockout, with Lewis on pole again.
Nico's car has an electronic issue they weren't completely able to fix.
Formation lap
He can't leave the grid. He gets pushed back in the pitlane. Oh. And Kobayashi has stopped as well, now. It's a DNF before the race even started. Rosberg is in the pitlane, but we're still not sure he's gonna be able to start…
And they're racing.
So of course Lewis gets a great start, he's completely unchallenged. Seb has a good start but Daniel gets defensive and that allows Alonso to overtake them both, however he can't make the corner and goes straight on, off track. He joins back with an insane advantage that I can't believe he's gonna be able to keep. Nico has been able to leave the pitlane. Seb overtakes Alonso in turn 7, it might have been a voluntary gesture to give the advantage back. Now it's Hulkenberg complaining of issues with his car.
At the end of the first lap, Lewis has a 1.6 advantage over Seb ahead of Alonso, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Massa, Jenson, Valtteri, Magnussen and Kvyat. Nico can gear shift but his clutch paddle (?) doesn't work and so he can't pit stop, apparently. I don't see how that could work out. Also funnily enough in the post race interview after Monza, the journalist said to Lewis he was 22 points behind so that's just one race if Nico doesn't finish or something to that extent. Welp.
Alonso is under investigation for that first lap stunt. No further action, probably because he gave a place back. Nico is still badly struggling in what Crofty qualifies as "a whole heap of doodah".
Lap 10. Nico is warned that the pitlane settings won't work so he'll have to control his speed by himself as he comes in. The mechanics are talking with the engineers in the garage. You can tell they're not quite sure how it's gonna go. The pit stops are ongoing. Nico is informed they'll change his steering wheel and that they'll drop him off the jack because the clutch won't work. Seb pits from P2. Redbull is stacking its cars. Lewis is called in. Seb is told he won't undercut him so he should save tyres and fuel. And indeed he's still in the lead. Here comes Nico. Let's see. Driving extremely slowly. The stop is very long. They change the tyres. They change the steering wheel. The whole pit wall has turned around to watch. One mechanic has his hand inside the cockpit doing whatever with it. It's so long that another one got the cool air blower out and they have put the warming blankets back on the tyres. I didn't even know they were allowed to do all that in the pitlane. The new steering wheel is turning on. All of them clear the car… they drop him off… the car doesn't turn on. Everybody is still while he frantically hits the buttons. It's been over a minute. He raises his hands and waves them. It didn't work. The car won't start. After 1 minute and ten seconds they call it a day. Bono tells Lewis he has it all under control and well managed which I bet is code for Nico is out.
It's lap 20. Nothing much is happening anymore. Lewis is leading 7.8 seconds ahead of Seb, himself ahead of Alonso, and then come Ricciardo, Massa, Raikkonen, Valtteri, Jenson, Vergne and Magnussen. Bono says the tyre deg is better than in the first stint but they seem to have picked up some debris in the front wing affecting the balance. Lewis says it still feels okay. "Okay copy that, we'll not panic." On lap 24, he's 10 seconds ahead. Then he pits. It's a long stop, I guess they cleaned his front wing. He's out in P2, 10 seconds behind Daniel. Ricciardo pits. Lewis is now 4 seconds ahead of Alonso.
On lap 31 Perez loses his frontwing which lodges itself under his car. He manages to pit but the safety car means something might finally happen in this race. Bono "OK so look for debris." Lewis "OK man that was a little bit late, I went over a lot of stuff there. Keep an eye on my pressures, won't you? (dying because who talks like that lmao) I got the message as I was going over the stuff." Alonso pits. Magnussen, who's been complaining that his seat is getting very hot, is told to remember to drink. He says he can't because the water is too hot and it burns his mouth. Extremely worrying. Now the safety car comes in. Lewis is on the supersofts and the seven cars behind him are on softs. He asks if it's going to be a problem for him. "Negative. You have a pace advantage." He will have to stop again though so. We'll see.
He immediately puts a second between himself and Seb. It's looking good.
It's lap 40, so 2 laps later. Lewis is already more than 6 seconds ahead of Seb. The team thinks he can do 7 more laps but it could be more. It might not be enough to come out in the lead after his pit. He might have to do some overtaking. Rocky says to Seb he needs to look after these tyres as they'll try to make it to the end. Seb says "I don't think that's my plan." He's told that's what Daniel is doing and also a lot of cars behind him. "We think that if you have to pit you'll have to overtake too many cars." Lewis asks if Bono thinks the other might be trying to two-stop the race. Bono says one or two may try but there's still 20 laps to go. Later on, Bono tells him they target another 7 laps on these tyres. Lewis says : "Just a question but that sounds a bit risky. Another safety car… (pause) Don't we lose out, then?" Bono answers : "Nope. We'll be straight in in that case, Lewis." Crofty and Brundle are a bit impressed by all the thinking he does all while racing. Ted tells us that the message following that was that they need to push everyone out of their pit stop window. He's 13 seconds ahead now. Let's see. 15. 18. There should be 4 laps to go before his stop. It's not gonna be enough and Alonso has started to close on Ricciardo who's in P3. Everything is about this pitstop now. Brundle is looking at his sector times, suspecting his tyres performance is dropping already. Lewis is still widening that gap but by much less than he was, but I mean, that's expected. If he pitted now, he'd come out behind Alonso. 20. 2 laps to pitstop. Daniel still has issues with his car. 21… he should get called in now. Ted says he's asked about the laps. He's told to do 2-3 more, the gap is 21 and they need 26. Not sure he can do it, that's a tall order with degrading tyres.
But on lap 50, the gap is 23!!! Can't believe this, where is he pulling these times from. He comes on the radio. He says they need to box him soon, his tyres are going off. "I told you already a lap before, cannot get to 27." Bono says he can go to strat mode 5, "you are still pulling the gap." He is, it's 24!
10 laps to go. It's tense af. The gap is 25.3! Come on, pit him. Brundle says Seb is struggling for pace, his tyres are going off. He will gain time because they will lose some, if Seb's tyre deg is worse than his. This is such a gamble. Bono updates him on his times and sets a target for him for the next lap. But Lewis says his right rear is very worn. "I'm not sure whether these things are going to explode or not." Crofty wonders if it's just mental anxiety under immense pressure. Brundle says yes. I think they're both fucking delusional. He's been on soft tyres for 27 laps in the Singapore heat and he literally sees them degrading. A puncture isn't such a far off concept. The mechanics are in the pit lane. The whole wall is watching, including Nico. Here he comes. It's all about this moment. The stop itself is 2.9.
Holy fucking fuck. Lewis is nearing the pit exit after 26.4 seconds, and that's Seb, taking the corner to the pit straight. This is going to be horrifyingly close isn't it? The timer stops at 29.284 for Lewis. That's more than the gap. Seb is ahead. HERE COMES DANIEL. LEWIS IS AHEAD BUT JUST ABOUT. IT'S CLOSE FOR A COUPLE OF TURNS, but Lewis pulls away. The gap to Seb is 1.8. He can do it. 9 laps to go. 1.3. He's closing extremely fast. Go Lewis! 1.1. 0.9. Unbelievable. 0.7, 0.5. Seb doesn't have the tyres to defend his position. 0.4. The Redbull mechanics are readying themselves?! They go back in. 8 laps to go. Lewis attacks! It's not close enough yet. Yellow flags? The gap is 0.2… Lewis has DRS! AND THERE HE GOES, back in the lead! The yellow flags are due to Jenson Button, who's stopped beside the track. He lost power. Unbelievable, you can see the steering wheel screen turn black on his on-board, and then reboot with the mclaren logo. Weird. 7 laps to go. 6 laps to go. Lewis is already 5.5 seconds ahead. The pace advantage is real. 5 laps to go. 4 laps to go. We will have to switch to a timer as we're getting close to the 2 hours mark. 3 laps and 3:22 to go. The battle for the podium is raging on, Daniel is 0.4 behind Seb and Alonso 0.5 behind him. And here we go. We switch to a timer. 2:10 to go. Lewis starts his last lap. 1:30. 1:00. It's the final lap. 0:30.
And it's the end of the race!
Lewis wins! He's back in the championship lead! Behind him, it's Seb! Yayyy sewis podium! Ricciardo is third.
Ted says to Niki "they say Lewis likes to do it the hard way" and Niki says "he's worth his money I can tell you that." He's speechless.

They’re in love.
It's Eddie Jordan doing the podium interviews. He says he's leading the championship for the first time and he asks if Lewis ever dreamt this would be the result.
Tumblr media
He says of course he was dreaming about it the night before but you never really think it's gonna happen. He really wants to thank his team for making it possible. He couldn't do it without them. Jordan asks how much pressure was on him for that last pit stops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He chuckles. It wasn't too bad. Eddie Jordan says he sounded a bit paranoid though. (He didn't sound paranoid, he sounded like he wanted to understand what situation he was in. Eddie Jordan is an idiot.) And that's what he says, he didn't know what the situation was, he knew he had a big gap but he didn't know what would happen if a safety car came out and stuff like that.
At the end, Jordan says things have changed for him and he sighs and says he's been looking for that clean weekend (he talked about it in the last race) and it's not an ideal result for the team because Nico didn't finish and of course they're always thriving (he says “we”) to finish 1-2 so there's still some things they can work on but the fans have been great.
That's all I have for Singapore.
Important note : the next race is Japan. That's when Jules Bianchi's fatal accident happened. I will watch it, I will review it, I will tell you what happened. I will put TW and warnings and heads up everywhere necessary and, I think it goes without saying but I'll make it clear : I will absolutely not make any gifs of that accident.
