A pang deep in her stomach was the only indication to Jules that she hadn’t eaten anything in hours-- or days? Was it days? She was losing more time by the minute it seemed-- loose threads of herself unraveling the more she attempted to collect them-- she stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror with an undisguised emptiness in the expression. Her fingers danced over the outlines of her rib cage-- her lips moving in silent count-- one, two, three-- three second pause-- four, five, six-- three second pause-- six, seven, eight—
A knock. “Shit,” The she-wolf mumbled under her breath, tapping her fingers idly against the bones jutting against her fingers— Erica would scold her for not taking care of herself-- she was certain-- or perhaps she was making a good enough show of it that no one was worried in the slightest-- but she doubted very much that that was the case. The knock persisted and Jules raised her hands to her face-- scrubbing roughly at the skin for several seconds before she fumbled to slip on the worn hoodie she’d stolen from an ex-boyfriend she couldn’t even remember of late— but it was soft and one of the few things that didn’t feel like sandpaper against her skin. “I’m coming,” She called the moment she had it zipped properly-- her voice was rough-- hoarse and listless in a way it never had been before the weeks she’d spent in captivity.
Surprise clouded her expression for a split second at the sight of FJ on the other side of her bedroom door and she felt her throat bobbing through the course of several aborted syllables before she swallowed hard and quirked an eyebrow at the older woman, “Is everything okay?” She asked softly. “I um-- I wasn’t expecting anyone,” Jules continued, her words a strained mumble as she reached up to tap out another beat of three against the line of her collar bone as her gaze shifted from FJ’s face to the floor. “Did you want to come in?”

hey freya!! this is just a short dara fic i wrote very loosely based around the conversation charlie and tara share about coming out in paris :) i hope you enjoy!!! - dais 💖
“I bet you five quid I can fit this whole thing in my mouth.”
Darcy Olsson is a bit of a fucking handful, Tara can’t help but think sometimes. But, watching her trying to fold a soft bread roll up into a bite sized piece is rather amusing, and she’s not gonna object to getting five quid.
“Why are you like this?” is all she can really muster in a terribly and tragically lovestruck tone. Darcy shrugs, before opening her mouth as far as she possibly can and trying to force the roll down. It doesn’t work out, obviously. She hacks and coughs, and for a moment Tara is worried, so she reaches forward and pats her girlfriend, hard, on the back. And then it stops. Darcy swallows down the bits of bread that actually got in her mouth. The rest is a mess of crumbs in her lap.
They laugh with one another, and it feels safe. Warm. Like they’ve been doing this since forever and they can just keep on going. Darcy brushes the back of her hand against Tara’s, and she takes it, squeezing it, the sensation reminding her how fucking much they are falling for one another.
God, Tara has never felt such an overwhelming love for someone. She could never quite understand why she didn’t like boys. It took her the longest time to accept that she liked girls, and just girls, because being a girl that likes girls is tough and scary. But, with Darcy, she just feels like another person who has someone to love. Normal. Because she is normal. Normal and in love and so abnormally lovestruck about it.
The word ‘lesbian’ used to scare her. She couldn’t use it when speaking, even thinking about herself, because it was tacked on undesirable girls, the weird ones, the weakest members of the pack. Key Stage Three in an all-girls’ school is cutthroat, unforgiving, and although Tara saw that side to her peers, she never faced it herself.
She just changed her relationship status, and no one cared. No one cared. There’s a freedom in that that Tara relishes, because she’s not entirely sure what she’d do if people did care. She’s lucky. Lucky, to be able to sit here with her girlfriend, laugh and joke, place a carefree hand on her shoulder and pull her a little closer, not worry about anyone else saying something and get away with it.
She’s in love. And she’s allowed herself to be in love. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
And when they kiss it feels so easy, and like she can’t even imagine having not known how to do this. And Tara knows that She And Darcy is a forever kind of thing.

Bio:
The Olsson name was synonymous with legends in the NYPD. Her grandfather was a former police chief, her father a commissioner when she was growing up. Her brothers were expected to follow in Lukas’ footsteps and become cops, but they both went a different way. Willem went into banking and Elias went into the FDNY. FJ was a woman who often did what was least expected of her and so it went when she got pregnant fresh out of high school by her first serious boyfriend. The two married and learned that making a marriage work and raising a kid was a hell of a lot harder when they were kids themselves. FJ had a baby boy named Elijah and she and her husband beat the odds.
FJ went into police work as the only Olsson to do so. She was a beat cop when 9/11 happened. Her brother Elias was a first responder and died later from complications.
She was devastated, but threw herself into her work nonetheless. She became a detective a few years later and worked her way up to Homicide.
She separated from her husband when things fell out of sync, but things worked better for them as a split couple. They agreed to keep things amicable for Elijah’s sake. FJ’s biggest fear is that her son follows in his parents’ footsteps and joins law enforcement.

— henrik was born in a small icelandic viking village in the year 875 to einar and freya-- the youngest of several siblings by that point he was raised in an environment built on the stability of his family home and their ability to mold their children into warriors. his father trained with him on a daily basis by the time henrik was seven and henrik-- already being a large boy for his age-- took to battle as though it was what he was born to do. litli kappi ( little warrior ) became a nickname for him given to him by his mother though it was one he only tolerated when his family used it. he was determined to become a warrior his family could be truly proud of and when he was fifteen years old he experienced his first taste of real battle when he accompanied his father and brothers on a raid on a local village.
— his childhood nickname gave way to another after the battle with his entire village and even surrounding villages coming to know him as dauða bræðrumaður or “death bringer”. he was a fierce warrior but a kind man-- he doted on his family and friends and considered those in his village to be worth protecting down to a man. when his village was brutally attacked when henrik was in his mid-twenties he rallied the warriors to defend it at all costs and in that battle the famed death bringer was felled; bleeding to death on the edge of his village henrik met sigrid who he initially assumed was a valkyrie meant to spirit him away to valhalla. with his near-dying breath he begged her to save him and it was then that his life was changed forever-- he was made immortal and promised to follow and protect sigrid through the rest of their immortal lives.
— for the first time in his life henrik was forced to leave his family behind and he lamented the decision frequently within his first year of immortality though he hoped that they would mourn him and move on. as the years passed he would occasionally ask sigrid to visit his home with him once more to check in on his family from afar and when they all passed away henrik paid his home a visit one last time to honor them before he left his village behind forever. no longer a warrior henrik turned his attention to becoming as good a man as he could manage even with his newfound blood-lust and everything being a vampire had brought along with it. he seemed to balance sigrid out in several ways and he found himself utterly devoted to her the more time they spent together. it was only a year or two into their extended companionship that he admitted he loved her as a man would love a wife and he still very much feels that way even with over one thousand years of life behind him.
— as the world continued to develop around them and war came and went henrik found himself involved in battle on more than one occasion-- it was in his blood and whenever he found a just cause to fight for he could often be found among the ranks of the soldiers fighting for the same cause. even as technology changed his skill in battle only grew and he was a fierce warrior worthy of history books in every conflict he was involved in-- though he often changed his name and avoided photos so as to not draw too much attention to himself.
— settling in windham and leaning in to a relatively quiet life was something henrik initially had quite a bit of trouble adjusting to but with war on his doorstep once more henrik can feel the itch to defend his loved ones sparking through him day by day. life in windham has also brought another surprise to him in the form of freya olsson - a woman he has only recently learned is a descendant of his family who looks so much like his own mother it pains him to see her and not know her well at all. it’s something henrik intends to change if it is within his power to do so.
