What inspires your art? Like, how did you come up with your art style, how happy you are with it and if there are any other artists that inspire you?

Asking a few people as a way to understand and grow as an artist at a crossroads. Have a good day.

Well, I think it's pretty obvious that the main inspiration for my style is manga and anime haha. My dad was a fan when I was still a kid so I started seeing glimpses of Cowboy Bebop and Trigun when I was still tiny. I watched my first Miyazaki movie when I was like 7. When I was in middle school my biggest inspiration were Yana Toboso and Jun Mochizuki and from there I was polishing my skills until today, borrowing bits and pieces from styles I liked. Right now, I don't try to copy other people's styles to such an extent haha. But I've been really enamored with @svnddlsnts , @nelnal and @fresh-bobatae 's artstyles. In terms of coloring, I've also been finally pushed into making mine better by the beautiful shading of Bryan Valenza.

I think I've been struggling with copying existing artstyles and really creating something that is mine is still a challenge. I think lately I've been closer to that though, by realizing that what I like to see in artstyles isn't always what's fun to draw for me. Still, I'm not sure if I can really say that I like my style. It's very generic and I wish I had the courage and time to go outside of my comfort zone. Right now I can't really afford this kind of experiments...

Do you know if fresh-bobatae is the real artist? I can't find a link back to Tumblr on her other socials.

I admit anon, I'm not 100% sure. I also saw that on their carrd there was no tumblr so when I found that blog, I hesitated ><" I sent a message to fresh-bobatae on their twitter to be sure, I still wait for their reply and obviously I'll remove the art if I made a mistake I really hope not
