Problem 6-21: Centripetal acceleration of an amusement park ride shaped like a Viking ship
Riders in an amusement park ride shaped like a Viking ship hung from a large pivot are rotated back and forth like a rigid pendulum. Sometime near the middle of the ride, the ship is momentarily motionless at the top of its circular arc.
Riders in an amusement park ride shaped like a Viking ship hung from a large pivot are rotated back and forth like a rigid pendulum. Sometime near the middle of the ride, the ship is momentarily motionless at the top of its circular arc. The ship then swings down under the influence of gravity. The speed at the bottom of the arc is 23.4 m/s.
(a) What is the centripetal acceleration at the bottom…

i love space and space exploration and astronomy and everything about all of them to death but if i have to draw a free body diagram of one more object only to inevitably forget one force (bonus points if it's a vertical component) i might explode

It's so brave of me to walk into this ap test knowing absolutely nothing. Just jack shit. I think that's really powerful

I have an ultrasound later today and the instructions say to arrive with "an uncomfortably full bladder" so naturally I woke up having to pee and my first thought was "I wish I could save this and like, copy/paste it back in for my appointment". I am not awake enough for reality.

never thought the most practical use I’d get out of my (very basic) understanding of torque would be solving legend of Zelda puzzles. idk if my physics teacher would be happy or disappointed lol

My roommate invited me to hang out with them and their crush and my other friend made a bet with me for $15 that I greet the crush by saying “what’s up free body diagram”

fuck me man im coping so hard. how is there no images online of a freebody diagram of a simple plate over a hole. i just wanna know if there are two friction forces or not ARGH.
anyway there's zero way this would show up in search results over shitty google ones but in case anyone sees this and is looking frantically for "plate over hole free body diagram" "plate sliding over gap fbd" i think it would be like this because the normal forces will be different (since there's a moment created by the weight), so you have to account for the fact there'd be more friction at the bottom. btw this is for fluids so there's also pressure

I have been alive for twenty six whole years and only just learned that I have horrendous depth perception. I thought this was normal. are you telling me you guys can really just tell how far away an object is without doing basic physics on its velocity relative to yours

we're at the point where i did the math and if i get a 20 on my chem final and a 30 in IEA i should be able to finish with a c in both classes :)
