We're doing an essay in English about whether or not The Creature in Frankenstein is human, and my boyfriend keeps making fun of me for "overthinking it" cause I keep sliding sticky notes to him that say things like "I don't even think there's a definition of human tho" and "help how do I prove the concept of a conscience"

Anyways, this is turning out to be so annoying cause he clearly wants us to prove one side or another with objective facts but,,,, there is no objective definition of human. Like the best I can find is "an intelligent being that acts under human nature" but, what is human nature? Crows are known for their usage of tools, dogs are often trained using their emotional intelligence, and seeking community is one of the most basic parts of existence. So, what is "human"? Where do we draw the line??? There is no objective answer to a subjective question!!!! AGH!!!

THOSE Frankenstein fans when both Victor and the Creature have positive and negative qualities, and the story is a tragedy where both characters involved are flawed and it’s not a morality battle between who’s the innocent one and who’s the Bad Guy™️ (and then get pissed at anyone likes one of those characters and labels them as problematic like we’re in the fucking 2020 Danganronpa fandom):
