EVERYONE I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING REALLY COOL

So these are the Anemoi album covers, right? Do you notice a similarity between all of them?

Yes, they all have animals surrounded by a gold ring on them. Obviously there is a lot of symbolism involved with these specific animals and their respective albums, but that’s a whole other conversation.

Right now I want to point out the gold ring— more importantly, how is it changing as the albums progress?

In Notos, the thicker portion of the ring is in the bottom right corner.

In Eurus, that portion is in the top right corner.

In Boreas, it’s in the top left corner.

And in Zephyrus, it’s in the bottom left corner.

THE RING IS GOING IN A CIRCUIT!!!

The thick portion of the ring is moving counterclockwise with each album! And if you go back to Notos after Zephyrus, it’ll be right back at where it started!

This is yet another symbol of the Anemoi albums’ themes of change, cycles, etc. AND IT’S HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT!

How COOL is that??? I just noticed!!

This is even crazier when you add on the fact that the final song you listen to, after going through all the albums, is Rounds.

And what is the ring doing? MAKING ROUNDS!! Going around and around as you keep replaying the albums, repeating the cycle of summer to fall to winter to spring to summer over and over again just as The Oh Hellos intended to convey :)

The Chain as Owl City Songs

You read the title; I gave each member of the chain an Owl City song (or more) XD

Some of these songs can go to multiple of the boys (most notably Wild, Twilight, and Legend; poor guys with girlfriend trauma).

Also disclaimer: this is mainly all of the songs I grew up with, so I won't have any songs from Owl City's newer albums (such as Cinematic and Coco Moon; especially Coco Moon as I haven't finished listening to that album at this time).

Legend

The first thing that came to mind was Strawberry Avalanche, since it kind of fits with the Koholint situation.

But I think the one that would best fit would be Angels (though it could also match with Twi and Wild).

For some more post-Koholint Angst, here's The Real World; I dunno, seems like a song Legend would belt out.

Twilight

Up All Night. No doubt. I've actually been thinking of this for so long I've been going crazy XD

(And this is mainly the song that can go with both Legend and Wild as well; be prepared for some heavy angst.)

Time

Originally what I had was Super Honeymoon (as kind of a joke) but listening to it I realized it made more sense if he was married to Zelda, which is a nope. (Or I guess it could fit if he just thinks of his wife so highly, which is likely).

Tbh he was kind of hard to assign an Owl City song to (like Four), so I think Meteor Shower might also fit for some Time Angst.

(Or Dental Care or Rugs from Me To You for some dad jokes hehe.)

(Bonus: Tennis Elbow from Sky Sailing; not technically Owl City but it's by the same guy.)

(Bonus Bonus: Unbelievable for that 90's nostalgia; unfortunately it doesn't mention Ocarina of Time but if this was Modern AU then Time would absolutely have 90's nostalgia... maybe...)

Hyrule

Plant Life. I think this song would kind of touch with that side of Hyrule who felt like he isn't like the other heroes

(It does have a slight romance undertone to it, but its only in the chorus/bridging lyric and isn't the main focus of the song I will admit.)

Wild

Wolf Bite. I know the title kind of suggests this should be Twi's song, but if you listen to it it kind of fits with the internal struggle that Wild goes through in the comics. (Plus if I could make animatics I would totally make an animatic of Wild to this song; ahhh I love Ultraviolet (the album this is from) so much).

Bird with a Broken Wing. Kind of self explanatory if you listen closely to the lyrics. (Actually, this could fit with Time... hm...)

Four

Oof, this was kind of a hard one. At first I was going to say that no song could match him, until I remembered...

The Technicolor Phase. Kind of color-centric for those who like them XD

Sky

[Insert every 2010's Owl City love song here]

XD Kidding; but the two I have written down are Honey and the Bee and The Bird and the Worm (and maybe Early Birdie?)

A non-romantic song I remembered however is Sky Diver. Yeah that's Sky for ya XD

The Airway — SO perfect for Sky

Wind

Yacht Club! Except not really because I forgot it was a romance song XD (We'll save it for when Wind has grown a bit.)

On the other hand: How I Became the Sea.

Wars

I was tempted to put Deer in the Headlights as a joke but then that would fit with womanizer Wars which is a BIG NOPE (and doesn't fit with Wars at all), so just think of it as reversed or something XD

On the other hand, we have Hospital Flowers for kind of maybe that survivor side of him.

But Beautiful Times fits him the most, as it kind of delves in with that war aspect ("cab driver turned to skydiver then to survivor" screams war to me).

And yeah, that's all the chain! Feel free to add or switch out any songs that you feel might be better; these were just mainly off the top of my head.

Relating Linked Universe with AJR new album, 'The Maybe Man' and how I see why each Link will somewhat relate to these songs.

This an idea/opinion about the album 'The Maybe Man' by AJR. I know the album came out a few weeks or so ago but I've been REALLY listening to this album and I cannot just relate it to Linked Universe...sorry not sorry. I need to share this! (I know AJR has nothing to do with Linked Universe but oh well.)

The songs will be in order of how the album is set out and I will be placing down whatever Link will somewhat relate to these songs and do my best to explain why I think they will relate to it. You get me? Okay good. This took forever. So please, get yourself comfortable and grab water and something to eat.

1. Maybe Man:

-My first immediate thought is Wild. The way the lyrics are said in this song about trying to figure out who you really are by not knowing who you are at first. With Wild's story in BOTW after the 'big bang' of Wilds 'death' and now his current situation of dealing with the loss of his many memories of who he was and of what he knows, I think this song suits him. To prove my point, the lyric, "I never know who the hell I am" and this whole verse, "I wish I was me, whoever that is. I could just be and not give a shit. Hey, I'll be whatever makes you a fan. 'Cause I don't know who the hell I am." Just think, Wild didn't know who he was at all when we first started playing BOTW and throughout the game I reckon he slowly gathers information of who he was 100 years ago throughout his memories. If I'm correct, JoJo puts Wild in a situation of him still not knowing who he is or was, that's why he still gets memories from time to time. I'm not sure if I'm supporting my opinion or not by saying all this but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say that I see 'Maybe Man' as Wilds song throughout his trauma and how some of those lyrics in this song tie to what he might be feeling.

2. Touchy Feely Fool

I'm stuck between Legend, Hyrule and possibly Sky.

I'm saying Legend because I mean have you HEARD the lyrics??? "I would give anything to not give a shit about you!" Him saying this to his worst enemy??? Or even his own new brothers? He does his best to hide his soft spot for his new brothers but I'm pretty sure he's easy to read that he obviously cares about them! (Especially with the recent chapters of Twilight slowly healing, you can SEE the concern Legend has for Twilight...) ESPECIALLY THIS VERSE, "I'm better off a stick. I'm better off a stone. I'm better off a Jerk. I'm better off alone. I'm better not feeling stress or feeling bliss. I won't feel much. At least I won't be feeling this." Legend can keep trying to stay stubborn and acting like a 'Lone Wolf' (Sorry Twilight.) But..the chain is slowly bleeding into his cold and dark heart of his.

Yes, I've also said Hyrule and this is why; As we all know, Hyrule is known for putting his heart on his sleeves. Being probably told that "you care too much about others." I'm saying this because I like to think sometimes Hyrule will try not to care as much about the others but he's failing that and maybe idolizes Legend for being so 'careless' all the time. The verses, "Get the guts to tell you off. But I know I'll never get there. You can scream 'You wish me dead'. But I'll crawl back to you tomorrow. Why the hell can't I get mad?" I can see Hyrule forgiving people too easily, and not getting mad at them. Which is why I also thought of Hyrule while listening to this song. The same lyric for Legend, "I would give anything to not give a shit about you." I also see this for Hyrule as well. Like I said, he might try to not care about others and start caring for himself but he probably fails that and he keeps caring.

As for Sky, I'm not 100% sure if this song suits him but the more I listen to it and picture Sky...I think it suits him because of how he was the first (?) to kill Demise which led to the other versions of himself. He most likely wishes he doesn't care about Demise but, he also can't help but blame himself for it. I think the chorus is what made me think this song sort of suits Sky, which is; "I'm sorry if I can't see how- I'm screwed. But hey, what can you do? I'm a touchy feely fool. I would give anything to not give a shit about you. Life is pretty cruel. For a touchy feely fool. I would give anything to not give a shit, but I do." That's all I can think of saying for Sky.

3. Yes I'm a Mess

This song suits Warriors. I'm choosing him for this song because of all the wars he's been in and the aftermath of a war or more can...eat you up with the guilt, depression and such but you have to deal with it and just..'forget about it'. I like to think that Warriors hides what the wars had done to him and instead of expressing it, he covers it up with his pride and stern personality. "And I took a job for just July, but feels like I might be here for life." I'm taking this verse and tying it with the wars. See the "job" as the wars. Warriors might of thought he was just doing what he had to do and maybe even thought that he'll just be in one war..but turns out he was in for plenty and that opened up to a massive war..."but feels like I might be here for life." He probably felt stuck in the wars, as a endless cycles of seeing everyone he worked with died in front of him. I like to also pick out the lyric, " Could I start again, somehow?" As apart of Warriors, wishing he could just forget it all and live a happy normal-ish life. And of course the chorus of this song, "Yes I'm a mess with an S on my chest." As I've said, I like to think Wars is actually a mess dealing with heavy stuff behind his stern and prideful personality that we all see throughout the comic/s. He has an "S" on his chest, he's a superhero! Even him being a total mess. He just deals with it and faces the consequences throughout his life.

4. The Dumb Song

Wild and Hyrule.

Yes I've chosen Wild for this song and it's BECAUSE, I have seen tiktoks, posts on Instagram and Tumblr of fans of Linked Universe calling Wild dumb and even with fan stories of Linked Universe and maybe even the actual comic of Linked Universe by JoJo, that the other Links might see Wild as...'not all there' or 'not as smart as you think he is, even with his amazing archery and cooking skills." You get me? Sure, personally I've done some dumb things while playing as Link(Wild) in BOTW and TOTK (haven't finished it yet though) but hey! Maybe that's why I've chosen Wild for this song because I'm sure many of us who has played BOTW and TOTK have done pretty stupid things in those games as Link(Wild). I feel like that's where I've seen people calling Wild as the 'dumb Link' out of them all just because of what they've done in those games. Is this making sense? God I hope so- anyways to prove my point, here's a verse that might help- "I'll text you, that's enough. That's how empty headed people get through shitty stuff." EMPTY HEADED. EMPTY HEADED. THE BOY HAS LITTLE TO NO MEMORIES AT ALL AND USES IT TO GET THROUGH LIFE. (That's how I see him anyways-)

Okay for Rulie- the main chorus just reminds me of him, for example it goes like this: "When we go down. When Kingdom come. Don't look at me, don't look at me. I'm just too dumb. I'd love to stay. But like you said, don't look at me, cause I got nothing in my head." I don't know how to say this but isn't Rulie more of a healer than a fighter? I mean sure he's got some fighting skills but he's not the best fighter, is he? I feel dumb(hehe) for asking this but I don't know much of him, sorry. But anyways, as I was saying. I chose the chorus for Hyrule because I like to think he's more of healer than a fighter. Little fighting skills but more medic skills than anyone else. Also this whole verse..." You make my lunch today. I would do it, but I couldn't work my microwave." HE HAS ZERO COOKING SKILLS. WHY CAN I SEE HIM SAYING THIS TO WILD AND WILD IS CONFUSED OF HOW RULE BURNT WATER??!!

5. Interia

-Wind and Time.

Time - I'm going to break this song down as why I think it suits Time. The very first sentences of this song, "Ive worn the same skinny jeans, since I was fifteen." It made me think of how Time started off as child throughout his journey but had to grow up a few years older very quickly. He has worn the same green outift (the skinny jeans referred in the song) since he was a child till he was much older. "I guess this is just want I am. I'm an object in motion, I've lost all emotion. My two legs are broken, but look at me dance." This first part of the chorus, reminds me of how Time probably has accepted that he's a Link and he's an 'object of Hylia'. Due to Hylia making Time to fulfill his hero spirit as a child, who had to go through so much trauma and was forced to grow up quicker than most. (?) He's probably lost most of his emotion and his will to continue fighting for his Hyrule (the land) but he kept going. "An object to motion. Don't ask where I'm going. Cause where I am going is right where I am." OHHH MY GODD THIS PART REMINDS ME OF HIM AND MALON. HE'S HAPPY WITH MALON, HES HAPPY WITH HIS FARMMMM AND HES HAPPY WITH HIS BOYSSSSS. And to add on.."I wanna be big like my plans, so why am I so tiny? And why am I so mad? It Inertia. Guess this is just what I am. In stuck in this life and I'm stuck in these pants."....I think you know why I chose this part for Time.

Wind - "Don't you like it bigger, better but do what you can? Don't you like a little better when you don't understand?" He's a kid!!! He only became a hero to save his sister but it turns out he had to do more than just saving his sister and had to save all of his Hyrule! (If its called that in his world). He did his best to become a hero, without being the one to hold the Triforce.

6. Turning Out Pt.iii

Legend with Marin and Twilight with Midna.

I'm putting both Legend and Twilight in this paragraph because this goes for both of them since they miss their missing girlfriends. This might make you sad but...all I can picture is Legend singing this song about Marin and Twilight singing this about Midna. As I don't know much about Legends games and his lore but I have picked up that he was on a dream island and he fell in love with a girl who's known as Marin? But she wasn't real and that hurt Legend? Same goes for Twilight. All I know about him and Midna, is that Midna had to go through the portal but she destroyed it and can never go back to visit Twilight? I'm going to type this whole part of the song and let you picture Legend singing this song for Marin and Twilight for Midna. Hopefully you understand why I think like this for this song. Ready with tissues? You might need them.

"Got it out of my system, didn't I? Did my two years of tinder, didn't I? Well, I wanted to be wanted. Suddenly I'm wanting more. ... So we got a bit tangled, didn't we? It's the best thing that's happened to me. Got exactly what I wanted. What if I don't want this. Am I missing something? Cause half the time I can't love right. And I can't have sex and we both get quiet. Boy, I must be one fucked up guy. Oh my god, what a crazy night. It'll be fine, quick, let's get married. Man, I wish we were eighty-five. The rest of our life wouldn't sound so scary. Oh I'm spiralling now, let's get kids and a house. Though I'm riddled with doubt. Is this how we turn out?" ... "Cause half the time I can't love right. And I'm half yours, and you're all mine. Boy, must be one fucked up guy."

7. Hole in the Bottom of my Brain

I've picked Warriors because I feel like he's the type of guy who has to know if someone likes him or not. He just HAS to know if he's liked by many people. You know those type of people who's obsessed of being liked by everyone or most people? Yeah...I feel like Wars can or is that type of guy. If you haven't listened to the song, here's what I mean I can see Wars relating to this song. "There's a hole in the bottom of my brain. But when I party, the hole goes away. But the party I throw needs a picture to post. So the world knows the party was great. There's a hole in the bottom of my brian. But when you like me, the hole goes away." Yeah I also see him as a drinker and loves parties as a way to cope with the war flashbacks and such.

8. The DJ is Crying For Help

I'm putting both Wild and Time in this one paragraph to explain this. Cause, I think they both would relate to the verses, "You've wasted your life but thanks for applying." Wild wasted his life to become a normal knight, then he had to waste his life becoming Flora's personal knight. Time wasted his hole childhood to save the people he loved. "I'm all grown up but you couldn't tell. Now I don't know what to do with myself." Both of these Links had to grow faster. Wild is mentally 1-2 years old after the calamity caused his death, but he was forced to become the hero of Hyrule right away. He didn't know anything. He didn't know what he had to do for himself to survive. While Time as we know, wasn't a child for long and was soon as an young adult or teenager. "You got older because your good at life. I'm all 17 at 35." This part is directly towards Wild. Technically he's just 18-19 but in reality he's 118-119 and mentally he's 1-2 years old...-

9. I Won't

Legend. This sings Legend. The way how stubborn he can be or self absorbed and doesn't give two shits about others. This song IS him. (also probably a 'fuck you' to Hylia for making him and his brothers go through so much trauma.) "Put your hands up, cause I won't. Raise a glass up, cause I won't. Get your ass up, cause I won't. I must've missed the up. But maybe that's the way I feel. Put your hands up, cause I won't. I'm not here because you say so..." DO YOU SEE WHAT I'M SEEING? ITS HIS SONG. LEGENDS SONG. RIGHT?? I'M NOT CRAZY, RIGHT???

10. Steve's Going to London

Okay this song was HARD to think of a Link to relate or match this song because of how random and how there like four people in this song who are explained to do random stuff....I've chosen Four. Just Four. The colours:

"Steve's going to London." -Green.

"Shawn's stuck in a suit." - Vio.

"Tom sleeps on his best friends lawn...Like every other afternoon." - Blue.

"Steve's going to London." - Green.

"Dan peed in the pool." - Red.

"Tom fell for his best friends mum." - Blue or Shadow ...? (Is he apart of Four? Tell me please 😭).

"But what the hell you gonna do?"

That's all I can say about this song. Sorry- I know very very little of Four and this song is very random 😭

11. God is Really Real

Wind with the King of Hyrule and his grandma. I won't go into too much detail as this song is based on a real event(if I'm correct) and it's actually quite sad to listen to. Otherwise, I chose this song for Wind because the song talks about how someone you really love has suddenly gotten sick. If I remember Wind Waker correctly; his grandma was sick for a bit and Link(wind) had to cure his grandma? Also I can picture this song as how much Wind loved the King of Hyrule as his father figure but Wind had to leave him behind because the king died a long time ago and his soul was stuck in a red lion boat....??? I haven't finished Wind Waker but apparently that happened, so what I've heard.

12. 2085

Wild, Time, Twilight, Legend, Wind and I like to think of the others too.

Starting off with Wild. This song is connected with 'Maybe Man' so I'm choosing Wild for this song also. "If somebody told me I'd at forty. I wouldn't spent my time in bed." This is pretty self explanatory I reckon- Just change "forty" to 17-18 (when he'd died.) The bed part is known as the Shrine of Resurrection.

Secondly for Twilight, the sentence, "How long have I been outta town?" Wasn't Twilight out of his village because he turned into Wolfie, and had to help Midna?? I'm pretty sure he's well known in his village.

"Sometimes I wonder if had kissed her. How different life would be right now." Legend with Marin. Twilight with Midna and Wild with Mipha. That's all I have to say about this part.

"I smile when I cry to hide what I felt. I'm doing fine, speak for yourself. I shoulda just asked for help." I can hear Legend, Wild and Time saying this part. That feeling when you feel alone even when your having a good time you still feel that. Then you start feeling like a burden amongst others. You must play a role and not show what you truly feel but then you regret not asking for help.

"It's 2085 and we're old as shit. Whatever. I'd hate to have to die before I get my head- together, whatever." Definitely picturing all of the older Links for this part. That's all I can say.

"And go tell your grandson to go tell his grandson. You don't have to try so hard, ya know. Cause I spent my whole life Tryna be so liked. That only made them hate me more." Time with Twilight and Time with Wind. Or maybe just Time telling all of the Links this.

"You gotta get better, you're all that I've got. Don't take forever, you're not here for long. You gotta get better, you're all that I've got." I'm sorry but...this might make you sad but......this part reminds me of the chapters where Wild was freaking out while Twilight was in recovery and was close to dying (?).. I'm sorry but I swear I can hear Wild saying this to either himself or to Twilight to make himself feel better.

"I wish I was me, whoever that is. I could just be and not give a shit. Hey, I'll be whatever makes you a fan. Cause I don't know who the hell I am. I think it's too late to figure this out. If I could be me, I would've been it by now. Maybe I'm a stone or big as my house. It looks like our time is running out. So if this is me, then I'll do my best. I'll take all the shit, so you'll never have to. You can be you, and I'll be the rest. Yeah, maybe that's who the hell I am." Wild coded and someone else I'm pretty sure(can't think. Too tired) but definitely Wild coded. Wild would 100% relate to this song.

"You gotta get better, you're all that I've got. Don't take forever, you're not here for long ....I gotta get better, I'm all that I've got." ALL LINKS WOULD RELATE TO THIS. DON'T TELL ME OTHERWISE. RAHHHHHHH

I've finally finished this! Took me 2 nights. No, I don't sleep. So this took me 2 nights. I'm busy during the days. Anywho, I hope you guys enjoyed this! I swear I did my best to prove my point but I got tired near the end...sorry. These are just my opinions of how I see each Link. Yes I know I didn't do much of Four and Sky and I'M SORRY. But I know so very little of them. They never really grabbed my attention. In the newer chapters yes Four and Sky has but I still have little knowledge about their lore. Same with the others but Wild(finished BOTW and the first Zelda game I've played. That's why I know more of Wild than the others. Sorry for being Bias :,))Warriors(finished Hyrule Warriors but didnt take my FULL internet like BOTW did ) and some of Winds(I've started playing but I haven't finished Wind Waker).

Let me know what you guys think! I'm sorry for wasting your time too😭. I know this is really random but it's been a thought which turned into....this. :)

before i get to the book asks: i was tagged by @gideonthefirst for 9 no-skip albums! this was hard for me. partly bc when i'm listening to an album i don't actually skip songs and partly bc even albums i really like there's usually at least one i'm just kinda meh on. but these 9 i really think i stand by all the songs. sorry patd is on there but i had to follow my heart

Thought I’d share these for anyone who hasn’t seen them :) They’re the official descriptions for each of the Anemoi albums on The Oh Hellos’ website!

Notos

Notos, the first installment in an ongoing series, is named for the ancient Greco-Roman god of the south wind, who brought storms in the summer. Musically, the record draws from the siblings' memories of summers spent exploring the Pacific Northwest with their grandparents, as well as their experiences with the frequent threat of hurricanes as they grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast. Thematically, the series considers the question: "where did our ideas come from?" Notos recounts a time when the duo weren't even aware there was a question to ask, and reflects on the backfire effect we experience when confronted with new information for the first time.

Eurus

Once that first question posed in the Notos EP is asked — "where did my ideas come from?" — it opens the floodgates to more. While wrestling with them all can ultimately lead to a fuller understanding of the world around you (and leave you with more empathy than you started with), it can also leave you feeling alienated from the communities you used to identify with. Eurus, released in early 2018 as the second installment in a series, is a continued interrogation of our own beliefs, and as Eurus was the wind most closely associated with autumn, the record seeks to capture the feelings of dark woods, dry branches, dead leaves, and wondering who had migrated — you, or your flock?

Boreas

Boreas, the northern wind, ushered in the harsh frosts of lonely winter. The arrangements of this third installment evoke images of snow-blanketed darkness, candlelight behind cupped hands, and a vast night sky ribboned with stars and auroras. As we wrote these songs, we found ourselves confronted with the ways we’ve personally and communally reflected the character of this wind — how we often avoid discomfort, even at the expense of others, until we are left cold, hard, and unfeeling. In this record, we ask the winter to instead kindle us into something warmer and softer than who we’ve been.

Zephyrus

The series concludes. Zephyrus, the final cardinal wind of this project, brought the gentle warmth of spring that summoned up a new year of growth rooted in the fertile ashes of all the structures that keep us isolated and unfeeling — the kind of growth we can see in ourselves, if we can muster the courage to be vulnerable. The arrangements mirror and embrace this shift, rising up like tender leaves breaking through concrete and cascading down like mountain rivers surging with the first thaw of the season. I don't have the musical vocabulary to express this right but you know when you're listening to an artist's work all in a row for the first time and they have similar instrumentals sprinkled throughout their songs? The serotonin boost is unreal. Especially when it's in multiple albums and you're listening for the first time, and suddenly it clicks in your brain? Gives me the urge to listen to the whole thing and catalogue every time something familiar comes up
