It has been a hot minute since I posted anything...
But I just had a life-changing revelation that I need to share with the class (y'all).
So if you have seen my posts before, you will know that I recently (ish) watched the Top Gun movies for the first time. Well today, 10 minutes ago, I Ain't Worried (the song from the TGM beach scene) came up on my Spotify and I had the brilliant idea of listening to the TGM soundtrack (which is something I do a lot with movies that I like).
WELL, I already found it crazy enough that Lady Gaga herself worked on the music for a "totally straight" military action movie. And you know, Hans Zimmer has composed everything (and I mean everything, look him up). But I was unfamiliar with the other two names on the list Harold Faltermeyer and Lorne Balfe.
WELL, Lorne has a pretty simple background, he worked under Hans Zimmer, and he's composed for some pretty cool movies. Average Hollywood composer stuff.
BUT HAROLD FALTERMEYER WROTE G*D D*AMNED AXEL F!!!!! You know, the Crazy Frog song!?!?!?! Like, who sat down and said "Hmmm we're making a movie about pilots? We obviously need Zimmer, and he likes to bring Balfe along. Lady Gaga should be fun, she's young and cool. Oh and what about the man who wrote F*UCKING AXEL F!!!!!!!!!!!"
TL;DR The music team for Top Gun: Maverick is insane and I don't know how to handle this information.

I had never considered that I'd actually seen Rise of the Guardians all that much. I mean, especially not to the level of which I've seen HTTYD.
But earlier I was looking through the RotG soundtrack, and while reading the titles, was able to recognize every single one and knew what part they played in the movie.
And I'm just like :0
(I mean the reason I also was looking it up was because I was running quotes through my head so maybe that should have tipped me off too)

I’m kinda shamelessly ripping off those nostalgic poster/cover compilation posts I saw from @thenamelessdoll, and doing it with other Don Bluth movies (besides Thumbelina and Anastasia), because I thought it looked like a fun little idea. Plus, I just recently rewatched The Secret of NIMH, and decided to start with that one.
So anyway, which covers or posters are your favorite?
((I won’t lie, I do have a big nostalgic soft spot for covers 10, 11 and 12, since those were the ones I’d usually see when I’d go to Blockbuster to rent it in the late 90s. But I also feel like the first poster captures the mood and spirit of the movie a lot better.))

when a character is in a serious/dangerous situation, and the scene cuts to another character, in a situation of equal intensity.
and both are interwoven with a powerful soundtrack????

The soundtrack for the Ridley Scott thing just dropped.
I think I can get into this. I'm only up to the fourth song on the album, "Soldiers of the 5th Regiment," and while I'm not entirely impressed, I can listen to it. It's not the auditory wallpaper I feared it would be. So far, anyway.
There's a good mix of classical elements, as well as more modern ones, overall not bad. The total time amounts to 47 minutes for 15 tracks, so I presume there's going to be a "director's cut" of the soundtrack as well.
Definitely worth listening to if you're into orchestral music.

Note to self: when you're already sad, maybe don't listen to music from Schindler's List.

Phew! Now I can move onto my favorite Don Bluth movie: the original Land Before Time. And I’m sure that every other dinosaur loving millennial out there was just as obsessed with this film as I was (come on, don’t lie). 😉
Side Note: It’s kinda funny how this is one of the very few Bluth films that didn’t need to go through any drastic cover art changes.
((Although I do really hate that big ugly orange box around the title on the Anniversary Edition DVD. Thank God I got rid of that version when I traded it for the blu-ray, with the much better looking cover art.))
