I finished Itto’s story quest and I have to say that he’s not as dumb as he seems. He’s not very smart, indeed, but I don’t think his IQ is as negative as some memes portray. In fact, I thought him to be quite quick-thinking and capable of discerning good from bad options under pressure, indispensable qualities for a good leader. The issue is that when confronted by problems that require puzzle-solving or more logical thinking, he’s really not good with that and will try to solve it banging his head against the problem until it’s solved – with very mixed results.
I really think that if Itto had a different education, he could’ve grown different. Grandma Oni taught him to be a gentleman, the basics of life, but not differential equations. He doesn’t seem the type that would sit his butt in class, but there are many stories of geniuses that were doing all kinds of crazy things to not stay in class, just like Itto would.
But, at the same time, it made me think of a rather sad AU: if she was swapped with Sara, getting to the Kujou clan. Takayuki would take advantage of Itto’s strength and use him to terrorize his rivals, depriving him from any form of love. General Itto would’ve be a terrible sight, scaring off anyone who happened to be in his way, but an ultimately sad man who was taught nothing but loyalty to ideas that just benefitted Takayuki’s shady deals. He’d be his attack dog (with no concept of stealth, that’d be Kuki’s role, General Itto’s invisible hand, but she tries to befriend him, but he’s so closed, still they both have absolute trust in each other). I feel sad just by imagining it.
But, as a tonal whiplash, Sara would be adopted by Grandma Tengu, who’d love her unconditionally. It’s easy to imagine her becoming a magical girl tengu, proclaiming sappy “In the name of justice, I will punish you!” speeches before taking down evil-doers with her incredible speed. She’d be a ray of sunshine in everyone’s lives, even if she’s a bit bird-brained (she’d fall for the glass trick, maybe that’s how she lost her vision during the decree). Her gang would have some romantic name like Holy Quintet (it used to be Holy Quartet, but she convinced disgraced detective trying to recover his honor Heizou to officially join it) and they’d do poses.
In the vision hunt decree, Itto and Sara would have a cat-and-mouse game (since her specialty is speed), but he’d get her vision eventually. So, they have their notice board war, with her wanting her vision back, challenging him many times. Even after her vision is returned, she still challenges him because she realized how sad he is and decided she’d be his friend, trying to have a fight that would be fun for an oni, since she learned from stories onis liked to fight.

Every time I get an "I hate Lae'zel" video it makes me love her more. Lae'zel is hilarious in her little maneurisms to me. But also so layered it's amazing. I love when she eyerolls at being corrected on how to say tiefling yet still she wants tav to school her on faerun so that she can be aware of the proper terms because she doesn't like being wrong. I love that she respects you if you fight back because it shows you have guts.
I love how she's so caring but due to her upbringing has difficulty displaying it in a way that we can easily see. Lae'zel is my baby girl and I adore her so deeply. She's trying her best to keep everyone alive and when the player goes on side quests and flounders around it terrifies her even if she won't admit it. She knows the Mindflayers better than anyone in the group because she comes from the same plane as them and not going right to dealing with the parasite, to her, makes it seem like tav isn't taking this seriously.
She doesn't want shadowheart to be in pain, she goes to bat for gale when Mystra wants him to kill himself (and will call the group mighty company giving a fantastic compliment to everyone), she cares in her own way and I love it so much.

Okay okay obsessed with wammawink actually and her in this song.
Wammawink’s whole character arc is that, she was the sole survivor of her herd after the war and now that she’s made a new adoptive family (who also came from broken pasts and tragedy), her greatest fear is losing them again, leading her to be overprotective and filled with insecurities.
In the beginning of the series she carries a lot of survivors guilt and helplessness, and quickly gives up in the face of adversity great or small, such as when she quit Waterbaby’s shaman training, because of her trauma. Her most iconic spell is her barrier bubble in which she uses to keep her herd and more importantly herself safe, keeping out all dangers and also serving as a metaphor for her own mentality of rejecting new experiences and keeping out bad feelings.
This song is really cool because the visuals draw a comparison between wammawink and the woman. Throughout the song, the visuals focus on wammawink more than the rest of the herd (except for when Glendale stole the key) and it seems that the woman is directly telling wammawink about what will happen to her (even if she is in fact talking of herself).
Wammawink and the Woman both use the barrier spell (and even their magic is near in hue), and the lyrics “keep it locked up, keep it sealed tight” are really applicable to wammawink. They both went through a huge ordeal in the war, losing the ones they loved (additionally the elktaur and horse also have parallels in being said loved ones who lost or nearly lost themselves to their own self hatred) and having to navigate a strange world on their own. Their trauma leads to themselves sealing themselves away, and in turn limiting themselves and ruling themselves with fear.
But the difference and a true testament to wammawink’s character development, is that she grew to be confident again and grew to prioritise her love over her fear. Wammawink realised that she has control and she now has the ability to defend herself and her herd and they have her back too. She was so afraid to go out into the world but in the end she’s willing to put herself on a battlefield to protect her happiness and safety.
And we see this when she steps of Waterbaby’s barrier, in front the prospect of harm and dark memories, and says to think of the fragile things. She turns the song Fragile Things’ meaning on its head and rather than avoiding the fight to overprotect others, she wants to keep fighting for her hope. She’s driven by her faith that she can be okay whilst the woman is driven by her fear of it not being.
I think both of them are justified in their actions of course because of how grey the circumstances of the plot are but I am so emotional over wammawink getting over her fears and finding the strength to do what she wants, to protect her herd

Inoichi Yamanaka is so blorbo-able and slept on he is in t&i he is an office worker he is a dilf he is unfuckable he has a mullet I want to bite him his special interest is plants
I always like thinking that he would have had a soft spot for Yamato tbh like if he had had the opportunity to semi adopt the smol tree lad he would ... I think they would get along well when Yamato is an adult also... Two dad guys in Crocs talking about biodiversity in place of lawns... Chilling after a long day of war crimes and dealing with weird coworkers
oh i love all yamanakas so much inoichi has such chill vibes which i love but also they have SUCH hidden chaos potential
him and yamato would be SOOO good at being Normal Adult Men™️ together they’d compliment each other about how completely Regular™️ they are also love that yamato’s destiny is just “dad guy who wears crocs” because you are SO right

nervously smoothing out the skirt of her dress, clara’s eyes darted around the room looking for any kind of escape. she’d asked her parents not to invite her ex to the party, as always her request was overlooked. she could say it was an oversight, but she knew full well her parents wanted them back together because it was ‘beneficial to both parties’ - something her ex seemed to agree with. and she’d never been the best at standing up for herself, every time they’d gotten back together had been due to him chipping away at her resolve until she cracked. this time however she was determined to hold out as long as she could. spotting someone walk in she knew her ex didn’t know, she offered them a tight smile. “sorry, but my date just walked in.” the words out, as she found herself practically running over towards the other, and throwing her arms around them. “i am truly sorry for this... but if you could feign being my date for ten minutes, you’d have my eternal gratitude.”

the men and boys are innocent too.
we cry "the innocent women and children" to appeal to the masses, to try and force their sympathy, but the men and boys are innocent too.
I have seen sons crying out for their mothers, their fathers, their siblings. I have seen them break down at the loss of their families. I have seen them cling to their dead and grieve.
I have seen fathers cradle their dead children, seen them kiss their faces and hold their little hands. I have seen them faint with grief when asked to identify the dead. I have seen them carry their sons and daughters. I have seen them fasting to provide what little they can for their families.
I have seen men and boys digging through the rubble with just their bare hands, I have seen them comforting strangers, playing with children, rocking them, hushing them, even if the face of such imminent danger. I have seen them cry, seen them grieve, seen them break down into each other's arms, seen them be selfless, beyond selfless, becoming something I don't have a word for.
I have seen the men who are doctors refuse to leave their patients, even when they have no medicine or supplies to give them, even when they're threatened with bombings. I have seen fathers who have lost all their children pick orphans up into their arms and proclaim them their child so they are not alone. I have seen men and boys digging pets out of the rubble.
the men are innocent too. the men and boys are being hurt and killed too. the men and boys are grieving too. the men and boys are scared too. the men and boys are fighting to save their people too. the men and boys deserve to be fought for too.
