Flynnposter is so silly I refuse to accept it as canon lmao the sheer improbability of finding a dude with the exact same physiognomy in the same region as you just completely precludes believability (at least with magic systems there's the illusion of an explanation, hence it's still somewhat believable)
Okay, so here's my headcanon for Eugene Fitzherbert and Brock Thunderstrike: they do not look literally identical. I think what's going on with them is that they just look so similar that people who didn't know them personally wouldn't be able to tell them apart. It happens to actors all the time. For example:
Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel
Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard
Or my favorite example, Harrison Ford and Vic Armstrong, his stunt double on the first three Indiana Jones films who looks so much like him that they sometimes allowed his face to be in the shot.
Seriously, just Google "actors who look alike".
But the series is in Rapunzel's art style, and the point is that they looks so similar, so of course she'd paint them looking identical.
(And before anyone replies to this ask with this specific comment, I do not buy into the theories that a) they're actually twins or b) that Brock is also an orphan and is actually Edmunds son and the prince of the Dark Kingdom, and Edmund had been following the wrong kid all those years. I like my theory/headcanon and I'm sticking to it, thanks.)
The end of Flynnpostor is reminding me of my friend’s deaf!Varian headcanon so here’s some subheadcanons for it.
Most of Varian’s hearing started to go when he was about 10 after a pretty bad explosion. He can still kinda hear people, but it sounds like they’re far away.
He’s trained himself to be very good at reading lips
As soon as Rapunzel found out she instantly went to the library and grabbed every book she could find on sign language
Eugene and Lance actually didn’t know sign language before Varian, so they’d make random hand gestures at first
Cass tries to learn but thanks to her hand it’s not the most easy thing in the world for her so Varian has developed the habit of sitting or standing right in front of her so he can see what she’s saying
Angry and Red sometimes use Varian’s deafness to sneak up on him and scare him
In Flynnpostor after Lance yelled “WHAT?!” Varian began to furiously cuss him out in sign language.
The gang has a habit of speaking a little louder than normal volume so Varian can hear them better
Eugene: Okay, are you like BLIND? You look nothing like me. First off, I'm way taller. Secondly, I DO NOT look so sleep deprived and lastly, if you could drag a comb through that hair you're like a 7 on a good day and I've been told I'm a constant 10.
flynnpostor is an.... episode. there's a guy who looks like eugene, dresses like eugene, uses eugene's old alias, commits the exact crimes as eugene, talks about eugene's memories as if they were his own and the show is like wow eugene why can't you get over the the fact that you're not flynn rider anymore geez
Okay a bit of a long shot but I remember not long after Flynnposter came out someone made a video subtitling Eugene’s monologue to Lance at the end of the episode. I don’t remember who it was and I can’t seem to find it again. I was wondering if you knew about that video or have any idea where I could find it?
Hell yeah, I do! The original video is by @critgemhero with a little supplemental translation added by me.
(Fun fact, I tried to get Ricky Roxburgh to tell me what the scripted dialogue was for this scene, but he wouldn't. 😛)
"Flynnpostor" is sixty-fourth episode of Tangled: The Series or Rapunzel’s tangled adventure where two Flynn Riders see one another, the flynn rider from the show and the flynn rider from the movie .
I sincerely love with all my heart how this scene with Varian in Flynnpostor
Feels like an evolution of this scene in What the Hair
Varian has grown up so much since then. He’s done leaving things to chance anymore just because he’s confident he knows what he’s doing. And that’s so cool to see
What Eugene said to Lance when Lance couldn't hear him.
I did the best I could using audio editing software to decipher what Eugene said during this part! It was insanely difficult, and I'm not the best with audio stuff, but I feel at least 80% confident about this interpretation!
The only words I would be skeptical about and was basically an assumption on my part since I couldn't hear this part clearly no matter how hard I tried, are the words “and amazing journey to get to this place”. He definitely says “It’s been a long _____ let me tell you” but that middle part is a complete shot in the dark.
