How would you redesign Zhan Tiri?

Lean into the ethereal. Pour on a heaping helping of feywild beauty and awe. This is supposed to be some massively powerful non human, shape-shifting creature of legend. Looking like "We have Yzma at home" did this character no favors.

She should have looked imposing and powerful, not frail and uninteresting. Something more stylistically distinct from tbr main csst in terms of fashion and less peasant looking in garb. Give her an appearance that completely sets her apart to show an even bigger rift between her and Demanitus. I sketched these super quickly and don't love them but I'm immediately more invested I whatever this lady is up to than village granny.

I would also change her color pallet. Because what they gave her is boring. Maybe give her some green in her wardrobe to bring in that disney villain color and compliment her purple hair. Also pointed ears because I will put elves in everything and you cant stop me

I mean, I get that they were trying to give her face the same silhouette as her demonic form, but overall, it's just garbage. I'm not convinced that she's interested in any kind of magical lore, or has been partnered with Demnaitus.

No Professor, my mind is far too busy thinking about how Rapunzel and Miles Morales would be absolute BESTIES.

They'd share their art with each other and do art trades, and swap stories about their adventures. Rapunzel would go on for hours about all the kingdoms and magical creatures she's encountered while Miles would ramble about all the crazy incredible dimensions he's been to. They'd vent to each other about how restricted they felt back when everyone was trying to control their lives and keep them from choosing their own path. Ooh! And they'd totally swap favorite foods! Miles would give Rapunzel some Spanish recipes. Now here they are making pastelitos de carne together!

Oh and you better believe Eugene Fitzherbert and Gwen Stacy are an unstoppable duo who'll take over the world!

While their partners are chatting, Eugene and Gwen are sitting in the corner munching on the pastelitos their partners just made while sharing how they got together with them. Gwen goes, "we met up once and saved the multiverse together, then two years later I climb through his window and I say, 'wanna get outta here?' He says yes!" Eugene's mouth goes agape and says "NO WAY THATS (almost) EXACTLY WHAT I DID-" They then break out into a series of competitions to prove who's the better athlete, like who can scale that building faster, who's got the coolest backflip, etc. Eugene thinks Gwen's eyebrow piercing is super cool, then he goes on about how as much as he'd like one, his face is just too darn immaculate and unblemished for him to ever pierce its perfectly pristine hide, then he shares his "invaluable wisdom" about haircare with a Gwen who has long fallen fast asleep. Then they're discussing their experiences as ex-fugitives. Eugene tells Gwen about his experience with the Captain of the Guard, how he would hunt him down like a wild dog. Gwen says "oh hey I had to deal with a Captain like that too. Tried to shoot me too. Yeah. He's my dad," then goes right back to scarfing down her pastelito while Eugene nearly chokes on his.

I just think they'd be neat ^_^

AU where Eugene comes up and knocks out Gothel in the middle of Mother Knows Best Reprise

Hmm... I don't like this? lol

I mean, it's funny, but I'm not usually a fan of huge tonal shifts (unless they are done with extreme calculation and precision, like in Mulan where "A Girl Worth Fighting For" is abruptly cut off when they get to the Tung Shao Pass, and for the rest of the movie, it stops being a musical, because the realities of war just caught up to them), and cutting off Gothel's truly menacing song with humor just doesn't sit well with me.

"Mother Knows Best (Reprise)" is important, in that it's Gothel seeing her control on Rapunzel slipping and turning up the villain factor, doubling down on the lies and manipulation and making Rapunzel second-guess her own self worth. It's important because it allows Rapunzel to discover Eugene's sincerity for herself, to screw up the courage to put herself out there, and find out her feelings are reciprocated. She gives Eugene back the satchel, and he ignores it for her, thus proving that Gothel was lying about him only being interested in the crown.

Well, they're wrong. New Dream is far from boring! Like, sorry they're not toxic, problematic, trying to kill each other, etc, but a healthy relationship does not equal a boring one.

Not but I don’t think I’ll ever be over the way they wrote Mother Gothel’s manipulation . The way it’s woven into everything she does. The way you can tell by watching her with Repunzel that this is years and years and layers and layers of manipulation. This is a whole little world Gothel had built around her and Repunzel with nobody to stop her. The way it’s apparent from the first scene. The way she insults repunzel and puts her down and tries to work on her self esteem but hides its behind “oh I’m just teasing. Don’t be so sensitive.” The way Mother Knows Best is a masterclass in narcissistic manipulation. The way she gaslights Repunzel by calling the floating lights “stars” even though Repunzel is smart enough to figure out that’s not what they are. The way Gothel has to have all the power, even in small ways like her having a door and Repunzel having a curtain. The way even their little game of “I love you” is a narcissistic play for power because Gothel’s line is always “I love you most” because she’s SUCH a good mother, you see. She’s sacrificed SO MUCH. She’s basically a martyr. She takes SUCH good care of Repunzel. Nobody could EVER love as much as her.

The way Gothel and Repunzel have an ‘argument’ which is actually just Repunzel having a reasonable request and Gothel giving a whole big manipulative spiel followed by a harsh rebuff. Then she immediately leaves, which is also another play for power. She controls when she and Repunzel can have a conversation and they’re not having it right now. She comes back a tries to pretend it never happened, except it did and they both know it, so Gothel is like “oh I’m making your favorite soup! Isn’t it wonderful? Doesn’t it make up for the fact I’ve ruined your whole life and I told you you can NEVER EVER have a life outside the toxic bubble I’ve created for us? Why would you ever want to leave??” Which is exactly how abusive relationships work, the way they offer the bare minimum and act like its might as well be a gift from God. And the worst part is, many people who are abused take it and DO feel like it really is a special thing because they’re not used to getting even the bare minimum. Another really good detail too is the after Gothel’s blow up (“now I’M the bad guy. Oh poor me”) Repunzel DOES want to drop the subject so she tells Gothel she just wants paint instead and calls the floating lights “stars,” thus making a subtle concession and making Gothel feel like she’s won, which I’m sure exactly how all their ‘aruguments’ in the past have ended: with Repunzel having yield and Gothel making sure she’s knows she’s the one in control. Overall it’s just so well written and one of the best representations of real manipulations that I’ve seen

It’s the way mother Gothel is repeatedly proven wrong. The way Repunzel gets to find out the world is full of beauty and wonder. The way everybody who meets her loves her. The way she mumbles when she tells Maximus it’s her birthday and literally nobody gives a shit. The way Gothel tells Repunzel “look at you. You think he’s impressed?” in reference to her hair but we see multiple times that Eugene thinks she’s beautiful, specifically the next day after it’s been braided. It’s just so good and multilayered
